1. Logically, all homes would be facing the "Tai Sui" position every few years. 2. Please note that the main concern with "Tai Sui" are: 2.1. Try not to "Touch" him or 2.2. Try not to "disturb" him 3. Touch means don't paint e.g. the wall or "disturb" means don't do hacking or renovations at that sector. 4. The mere fact that you are sitting and working facing Tai Sui and concerned about it is just an "overkill" situation. 5. Please refer to this link:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=26971&new= 5.1 Once upon a time; many were literally picking up Feng Shui books and try to outdo everyone with "Feng Shui enhancements". 5.2 Today:- 5.3 "9. Unfortunately... let's home it does not end up as one of the "NEW" mental illness : Obsessivecompulsive disorder OCD!" 5.4 Have we gone to the dogs? Just the mentioning of "meeting" Tai Sui face-to-face is like - a death trap or "dead-meat" for some of us. Why so scared? 5.5 Some say; I have to change my work table to face away from Tai Sui. It is not like one's table and chair can be rotated 360 degrees to avoid such things year, month, daily, hourly sort of thing. 5.6 A case of OCD? I can understand that some people have OCD of sexual nature. But to have OCD of Feng Shui? As I said; this is the social ill of the 2010's.... 5.7 Anyway, don't worry too much; many predicitions even those relating to the I-Ching says 2012 is not a pretty one for the Human race: Obama bin laden or Osama bin laden?

1. In my opinion, what you described is pretty common - apartment basements in some parts of NY city. 2. Commonsense Feng Shui:- 2.1. In some low lying countries; the main concern is that for such apartments; is - if there is sudden flooding i.e. where the nearby drains leading to the sea got clogged and or due to sudden heavey downpour in the Tropics. 2.2. Commsense Feng Shui is about making sure that the home is reasonably neat and tidy and : "clear space" is very common word to use, here. 2.3. Being in the basement; it is still good to ocassionaly "air" the home e.g. good to once a while - especially after a down pour to let outside air circulate within the home. Anonymous wrote: Hi I lived in one of the apartment basements in NY city. I need to go down 5 steps to enter the front door but the back door is ground level. Me and my family live here.. Is the place bad in feng shui? The front door is facing west and it is block by the stairs going up .. Pls. advise how to increase the chi in my small space.. thanks so much.. I'm just new in feng shui so any feedback is greatly apreciated.. Blessings to all.

1. In my opinion, it is not that bad. 2. Frankly, I see it more as a graceful geese gliding gracefully on water; see attachment 3. In my also; it looks less like a cooking pan as a cooking pan is rounded; where else this either looks: like the cake scoop. For example, when we scoop up a slice of a piece of cake to a plate. Or at least it is like a chopper as you had mentioned. 4. A chopper is actual good as this is an "offensive" weapon and the only thing is that whoever is in the "way" of this chopper e.g. neighbourhood land is not as good. For example, please see attachment Fabercrest hill site. It looks like the blade of the long Chinese weapon. 5. Edelweiss Park condo if you compare to Livia; looks more like a legless peacock with it's feathers "down". 6. The Signature Park condo also (remotely) resembles the head and neck of a king fisher bird or even a young duck - if it is in grey tones. 7. Anyway, human always can very easily imagine outlines if it remotely symbolises any human form or animals or insects. For example, sometime back many saw the stone feature on Mars as looking like a human face. But when the explorer took closeup pictures.. it is merely a hill with two indents that looks like the outline of the face, eyes and nose. Anonymous wrote: Hi, I like to know if the layout of livia site is auspicious. From one angle, it looks like a cooking pans or a limbless bird. From the oppsite side, it looks like a chopper. If there is another project being build beside it, will there be any disadvantage for those beside block 61, 63, 65 (along the blande)? Thanks in advance, Tim Chua

1. The best choice is always good landscaping. 2. The last resort is the windchime. It has to be between the sha qi (poison arrow) and the main door.

Anonymous wrote: I can see the roof line of the opposite house fromour front door, even though we know it does not point directly to the door. Could you see if it's a threat and how do I cure it? Also, if the roof line point to my window next to the door, what should I do to cure the window? 1. Frankly, in my opinion, it really (really) looks like the pointed roof is aimed towards your main entrance area. 2. As the area before the pathway looks "barren"; often, proper landscaping at that area is one "stealth" method of negating it. 3. Alternatively, a wind chime may be hung for such a situation.

1. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing? or rather someone who takes on a title and then with their limited knowledge provides "ill advised information". 2. As I recalled; as I am very family in this industry called : Fwang Shway or Fung Shui or Feng Shui. 3. In the 1980's the trend was to pick up a dozen Feng Shui books: 1001 tips on Feng Shui and many happily go about this "new hobby" of theirs; 4. In the 1990's the "sharks" emerged as they found that they can make supernormal profits out ofobjects which they name them " In the name of Feng Shui...." 5. This trend continues till today. During this period: "Instead of fixing the leaks; many go to stock up their sinking ship with lots of useless ornaments in the name of Feng Shui. 6. All these while; very few sites includingGeomancy.net was trying to"educate"manyof such things as: one family member practising Feng Shui (in secret); purchasedmanyuseless objects.. ran into credit card debts and even divorce because of this. 7. In the 2000's; I coined the term "Commando Feng Shui". Some don't really care; "Just do it and often it becomes anover-kill. 8. In the 2010's onwards; many started to realise that: Hey! Feng Shui is not just about enhancing, buying, buying and buying to"decorate" the home. But, hey! Feng Shui have dire predictions like: the dreated FIVEYELLOW. 9.Unfortunately... let's home it does not end up as one of the "NEW" mental illness: Obsessivecompulsive disorder! 10. Recently some forum postings .... dwell with Obsessivecompulsive : how to fix the leak or poor advice from "bogus or know nothing Feng Shui "masters". 11. Look at all the Malls in Singapore... second to food; nearly everone else starts to open a Geomancy Shop in Singapore malls. And they really have no shame in tauting their so called "magic in the name of Feng Shui products!" What a shame! When the buying stops! the selling can!

This article shows the Feng Shui trend from 1980's till today:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=26971&new= Always remember: "YOU stay there!, WE (Geomancers) don't!"

Further to what I had mentioned, earlier:- Anonymous wrote: , not to use the room or door AT ALL for the year? Can this be right? 1. Next time, If someone tells you the above; tell him/her: "If you stop eating and drinking (any form of water or liquid) for the next 7 days, I will certainly believe in you". 2. I awaysconsider this maxim of mine:"I stay here, YOU (the Geomancer -Don't!)"

1. In the past, everyone happily go about doing their business without any cares or concern about the yearly movement of the Five Yellow. 2. Why is it that nowadays, some of us are so frankly - overeacting on such an issue? 3. Many Geomancers unfortunately don't follow this maxim: " We stay there, you don't " In the past, I had always mentioned that Geomancers or would be Geomancer(s) must take on responsibilities; 4. Most Geomancers often without thinking or finding better alternatives go for the easy way out. As I mentioned above, we are staying in this home for "Heaven's sake!" 5. Some Geomancer don't care! They just come to your home for say a hour and an half or two; give some advice and go off. 6. And the client becomes the "depository" of all the advice and because they hired the Geomancer, they had no choice but to try to follow the instruction(s). "You are not to use the master toilet" HuH? What is this a joke or what? 7. There are two sides of the coin: Those that listen to such Geomancers and those that follow; is really pityful. 8. Feng Shui does not only revolve within the four walls of each home; neither does it revolve around the kitchen, family room, office etc.... alone. 9. Most earth homes are categorically safe; for example, if we look at the parallelof cars: Most homes would easily attain an Euro NCAP safety of between 3 to 4 stars at least. And some homes even have quantum leap that is equivalent of the safest standard i.e. Euro NCAP 5 stars. 10. So, the logic, here is that a Euro NCAP 4 or 5 star car(s) can suddenly become only 1 star grade? 11. Take another example; as a Geomancer myself, I don't go around every year analysing my home in relation to where the "hell" is the Five Yellow etc... what I do is when I buy a home: find the best home and in terms of Flying Star say for the 2004 to 2023; get a home with double auspicious #8's at the frontage. And this is often one of the highest weightage, possible. And activate say a water position .. that's all. Where got such thing as this year; that year; chase after the "five yellow" etc....

1. I believe that what you are inquiring about is quite "academic". 2. To be honest, there will be an endless debate regarding the merits of one method over another. 3. In my view, having numerous clients; some of whom have sought earlier consultations with different practitioners and second opinions; I have come across various charts. 4. From my understanding, among the practitioners in Singapore; many utilize the Pie chart method, myself included. 5. Why? 5.1. The Pie chart is particularly well-suited for landed properties, as many of these structures tend to be elongated and rectangular in shape. 5.2. At a glance, the practitioner can identify the true cardinal points (the precise layout of the entire North-South East-West NE-SW, NW-SE true compass directions). This is often examined in relation to the entry of external qi into the home. 5.3. Another significant advantage of the Pie chart is that since Flying Star is based on horizontal analysis; a pie chart can be extended indefinitely, for instance, to assess the building and site for optimal water location, mountains, etc. In contrast, a 9 square grid is more concentrated on the interior of the home. 5.4. The 9 Square grid is effective for a "purely" rectangular interior with divisions or rooms that conform to this 9 square grid. For instance, the layout plan you provided may be considered "rectangular"; however, the rooms or bedrooms do not align proportionately with the 9 grid. This leads to your confusion, as one square grid may encompass two bedrooms. 6. Many professional authors of Chinese (Mandarin Feng Shui) books (in my opinion) tend to favor the pie chart. Conversely, many English Feng Shui publications utilize the 9 grid system, particularly in their illustrations. 7. As I previously noted, regarding these two methods; there are individuals who may strongly advocate for one method or the other; while more pragmatic individuals would assert, "It depends." Ultimately, there is no definitive right or wrong. However, my personal preference leans towards the Pie chart method, as it is considerably easier to utilize when drafting a client's proposed recommendations.

1. Charcoal stove = traditional "portable" stove. 2. Portable gas stove = modern, non-traditional. 3. Para 1; considered NICE-to-Do. Not a MUST-Do. 4. Frankly, in my opinion, if you are considering Para2; above; you may be the very first in Singapore, JB, Batam and even in the Far East. And maybe, one day, this becomes a new tradition. 5. In my opinion, if one does not do Para 1; no need to go so far as to search for another more modern portable gas stove. 6. In fact, for the last 20 years or so; there are so many variants of the "lighted" stove:- 6.1. The most common method is buy one at the common neighbourhood store and add charcoal wrapped in red paper and bring it in "cold" to the home. 6.2. Many young couples skip this part 6.3. Some use "barbecue" utensils and heat up the charcoal and then bring this entity into the kitchen stove and continue to let it burn. 7. Frankly, there is NO FIXED RULESET as to what is right or wrong, here. 8. If it sounds functional; and makes you and your family feel good about it; then do it. 9. Additional note:- 9.1. For those staying in some private homes or certain condos that have smoke detectors built-in at the kitchen or lift lobb(ies)... beware! 9.2. Either you go for the smoke-free barbecue charcoal type of material or don't do it.

Ang A. wrote: I have a end-lot terrace and my house main door face SE direction . I would like to have a koi pond to my new place but read on your forum about SW is not good due to 'white- tiger'. My other alternative are SE , just in front of front door or West - which is near the back of house. 1. Appreciate, please try not to mis-quote my past forum message(s). 2. The actual message is as follows:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=1&mid=26464&new= Seeking Advice On A New Home Purchase Posted in: Discuss :: Free Advice (General Feng Shui) Posted on: Fri, 06 Nov 2009, 18:22 PM, 1. Purely from a Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, it is considered inauspicious. 2. This concept is based on the "East Dragon" and especially more towards: the "White Tiger" concept. 3. Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, it is not good to have an "open" mouth somewhat circular or looks like a hungry tiger's mouth. And since this home is facing SW, the water retention pond is considered as at the West side of the home - ie. the "white tiger's domain. 4. Just imagine, a tiger's mouth is always open "hungry" ... 5. Thus in general, even if the home is considered facing a favourable direction under Period 8 : SW, the prime concern here is the external Shapes and Forms Feng Shui - prevails. SW water position is "effective" only up to 2021 to not more than 2023 in such instances. 6. When placing a pond or a water position; it is always more importantly to get the facts correctly. Even for a SE facing home; under the Flying Star Feng Shui; it makes a difference between say a SE1 and/or SE2/SE3 facing home. 7. In general, usually SW sector Can/ May / Could /be suitable for a water position but often Para 6 is taken into consideration, also.

1. Those extension - most likely aluminium awnings to provide shade does not seem "threating" at all. Frankly these are not support beams at all. 2. Use the Best study direction report to check your facing direction. This is considered a "huge" work or study space. It is not like "X" marks the spot or spots.

Appended on 4 December 2019: Suggest, please go directly for an in-dept understanding of the Frontage of a house. Is it always the main door? Please refer to the attached resource: http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=26954&new= For practical reasons, the smallest Asian sized door width is 35 inches. For European or American standard - should be 42 inches or 48 3/4 inches roughly within such a range. Commonsense approach is that if the width is larger; the larger clearance the door has to "swing" inwards. And imagine if the door size is 58 inches (one or two leaves) and if the door swings inwards; the foyer of the home has to be pretty wide to cater for this width. Furthermore, if the home is to be lived in and ifdoes have a family: again just imagine a little cute boy or girl 4 to 5 years old struggling to open or close the door not withstanding any high winds nor the weight of the door. Doors that are at least 1/2 hour fire rated doors ain't lightweight - for sure!

1. In Singapore, this fact is not widely recognized or publicized. 2. When I first began practicing Feng Shui many years ago, I was fascinated by the auspicious measurements of the main entrance doors in the First Generation HDB flats. 3. Disregarding the grille gate of this particular home, the width of the entrance is considered auspicious according to the Feng Shui Ruler. Even when taking into account the support frames on both sides of the main door, it remains auspicious. 4. The origins of this phenomenon are unknown. It is possible that it occurred unintentionally. It is likely that a Chinese furniture maker or manufacturer was assigned to design an entrance door and decided to base it on the measurements of the imperial Feng Shui ruler. 5. In the 2nd generation of HDB flats, there are single leaf doors that measure 35 inches, as well as larger doors with two leaves: one leaf is 42 inches and the other is smaller. The 42-inch measurement is still considered auspicious according to the Feng Shui ruler. 6. The height of the door is influenced by the type of floor tiles used, resulting in varying heights. Some homes in the past could only afford cement screed for the entire home, while others opted for thicker terrazzo tiles, mosaic, and even ceramic tiles. 7. The height, in terms of the Feng Shui ruler, is of lesser importance as the width is often the focal point for Qi. 8. Therefore, many homes with partitions often opt for either 42 inches or a maximum of 49 3/4 inches. Some partitions may have a smaller width of 35 inches. 9. In newer generation flats, particularly those built after the 1980s, a partition size of 42 inches will cover the main door, as the smaller leaf door is rarely opened. 10. The size of the main door should be determined based on the Feng Shui ruler (or the imperial carpentry ruler). 9.1. For a small apartment, such as the 1st generation HDB flats, a single leaf door should be 35 inches in total width. 9.2. Other widths to consider are 42 inches and 49 3/4 inches. The older generation - a single leaf door

1. Singaporeans really pray to all sorts of GODs. 2. While walking past a row of shop houses; this shop owner evidently prays to a pair of "striped tigers". 3. In the first picture; he has a pair of Qi Lin on each side of the front pillar. And in the middle; a worship altar on the floor. Notice the two different pairs of striped lions.... each with it's mouth full ... symbolic of bringing in wealth. 4. A percentage of mediums somehow; enact or even become "tiger god" in some instances. Usually, these people hope to get great wealth.

1. Some bright or primary colors if used at the wrong location may affect certain situations:- For example under the Flying star concept: Bright Yellow & or Bright Red@ location(s) especially those with #5 and/or #2 and/or #9 etc... can affect health - ranging from constant health issues to some needing operations. Bright Green and or Bright Blue @ location(s) with #3 and/or combined with WS#1 can affect relationships / marriage / family issues / lawsuits. While using Bright Blue in the kitchen can affect a woman's health and family wealth and if it also falls at Mountain Star MS#8 - will drown such luck. 2. Above are just some of the examples, I can quickly think of. 3. The most critical areas for 2010 are: Five Yellow at South-West Grand Duke at East-North-East, 60 Degrees And the Three Killings at North. 4. If you can do painting at South before Feb 14th, that is best, but if you can't at least; although it is #3 sector; the consolation is that it is not at the above three MAJOR concern areas.
