  1. No problem in placing a partition so long as:- 1. It has proper support. As those free standing "collapsible" ones or those common "Chinese" 4 seasons panels should be placed with good support. Else if they are made of high quality wood (heavy) they may just fall down and especially hurt a child. 2. Avoid having a partition that has a mirror in it facing the main entrance door. 3. The partition should not "slice" a dining table opposite side of the edge of the partition.
  2. 1. In my opinion, so long asthe exposed area does not get very high velocity winds most of the time. 2. If your general area is also not too windy or strong gusts of air. 3. And if you often close your main door when not in use, and if there is no direct path from the main door to a window or balcony opening, then frankly there may not be any necessity to have a partition.
  3. 1. Frankly, it depends! Since often, no two homes are the same. 2. Many of the considerations will also depend on how a person view where the centrepoint of a home is. And like all human beings, realistically, one may even get different results from different Masters! 3. The saying goes "Be realistic". In such a case (determining whether a home has a protrusion or indent) would make this more of an "art" rather than a science of Feng Shui! Therefore, we have to accept this fact in life! Quote: Amanda Y. wrote: How do we conclude that our house has a missing corner rather than a projection/protruding corner? For example, my house could either be considered a SOUTHWEST missing corner or a NORTHWEST projection or protruding corner. http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-building.htm
  4. 1. The Flying Star concept uses the "Five Elements concept". And each Flying Star number is associated with the five elements. For example: #6 = strong metal and #5 = strong earth. 2. The 20 Year Flying Star Feng Shui In general each sector (North, South, East, West...) etc has three numbers; MS# W# B# (Mountain, Water, Base or Palace star). 3. When applying the Flying star, one should be looking strictly on the Flying Star numbers. Thus even in the West sector, if there is a double #8 then the rule of Flying Star applies that if this is the frontage a "proper water" position can be considered. 4. For simplicity, can understand that strictly North = Water, East = Wood, West = Metal. But like you are trying to figure out? How do you co-relate this with the Flying Star! In general this is a very general theory! 5. If you have Flying Star chart and the west has flying star numbers then one should analyse it strictly from the Flying Star perspective! 6. For the more experienced, in fact, the other consideration is the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. 7. In the past, many Feng Shui practitioners are like what you understand North = water, East = wood. And when the practitioner advise their client: they would "insist" that their client place a water feature at North (career and water position). This is KINDERGARTEN Feng Shui! Outdated! 8. If we really want to mix Compass School (Flying Star) with Shapes and Forms, then we may try to take note that West is the "white tiger" location. And it would be disadvantage to symbollically have a water feature IN THE SHAPE of a well (circular) as it is symbolic of a tiger's hungry mouth! That's All. If you read carefully a water feature (based on Flying Star Feng Shui can be used here) except trying to have an oval shaped water feature! 9. Your question is akin to bringing in VERY GENERAL concepts like West is metal. And then suddenly mixing this with Flying Star numbers like #8's. Really no common denominator. 10. Best not to turn reasonable Feng Shui concepts into some kind of a weird experiement or into some kind of a "rocket science".
  5. 1. In GENERAL, under Period 8, it is highly good chance that a water feature at South-West can benefit "most" people as this is generally an "indirect-water" wealth spirit location especially if it is a balcony or patio area. 2. As mentioned in my earlier, message on your earlier question, we are talking about the Feng Shui of your home (earth luck). 3. Under the Chinese holistic approach to luck, there are three kinds of luck:- 3.1 Heaven Luck (what one is born with) and analysed via Ba Zi 3.2 Earth Luck (Your home, office, business or place of stay/rent) 3.3 Human or man luck (Relationships, family bonding etc...) and many also get conned thru"Bull-shit = buying of commercial products" 4. Thus, a water feature under Para 1, above is to boost the earth luck. Therefore if you can draw the line between your bazi which is Heaven luck! Your home is your earth luck. 5. So, a water feature at the correct location is suppose to boost your earth luck. And in this example, it is clearly different from one's Heaven Luck (ba zi). Is this clear?
  6. 1. Everyone has his/her ba zi or "birth chart". A home also has it's own "birth chart". 2. Under the Compass School of Feng Shui: a home's ba zi (birth chart) is based on the Flying Star Feng Shui. Where e.g. what is the birth date of the home? And in addition it's specific direction. Thus a home can be a Period 8, North-West 1 home. 3. So long as one can properly identify where is the water wealth sector of a home, we can than "safely" place a water feature in (inside) the home. 4. Thus, decision made under Para 3; is made first, without consulting or checking to see if the owner (breadwinner)'s elements are suited or not. 5. Thus under Para 3, the breadwinner or spouse can be a weak fire, or strong water person and BECAUSE a specific (appropirate location such as the balcony) may have water star #8, then the house's birth chart prevails over (your) (our) own ba zi element or whether we are of a fire element etc... 6. This is usually the method used. 7. But, if one is not sure where one's water wealth location is or placed a water feature wrongly; and also if one cannot "take" water then, it may get ugly! 8. Usually, for an individual: best to use an accurate "ba zi" analysis to determine whether one is e.g. weak water or strong water or weak fire or strong fire. 9. Thus to recap, even if one is a weak fire person, but if the water position is placed in a very auspicious sector in the home (home's birth chart), this is acceptable as the advantage of having water can boost the home's earth luck (Feng Shui). 10. But if one is a weak fire person and worse still : based on the home's (flying star - birth chart), the sector that one is going to place a water feature happens to be a Mountain star #8 then placing a water feature may inadvertently drown the "lucky mountain star #8. 11. In a few recent messages, I had mentioned that for example if a person has 4 counts of water e.g. 39 percent, wood 5 counts at 40 percent.. it is more a Chinese thing. As usually the father or grandfather seeking advice from a geomancer to "give" a good name for the child to balance his five or lack of the five elements.
  7. 1. Currently, as we are under Period 8, in general, the rule of thumb is that it is advantages to activate a water feature (especially the frontage) of the home if there is a combination of the very auspicious double #8's. 2. Thus, whatever argument is indicated, a proper water feature, can be activated (especially if it has all the five elements) in it. To recap: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/arowanafish.htm Under Para 2.10, the best beneifit is to have a water feature that have all 5 elements in it. Here, once one has a five elements flow; this should be the proper way to explain the concept why a water feature can be placed at a location with MS#8 and WS#8. 3. The argument that water destroy fire etc... is a "childish" way of explaining it. As it does not sound so convincing, rite? Thus the educated way is via Five Elements concept. Plus the fact that under Period 8, anything to do with #8 has a significant advantage. 4. Thus because of the "kindergarten" explanation (below), it will cause confusion and less convincing way of describing it. Amanda Y. wrote: Master Lee, For an S2 and S3 facing home, the mountain star 8 and water star 8 are located in the South. The South represents fire element so if we enhance the water star 8 with a water feature, then is it true that water destroys fire? So in that case, the positive effects of the water star 8 becomes destroyed? However some FS practitioners say that water and fire creates steam - so in effect, their combination is positive. So which is which? Does water destroy fire? Or do water and fire complement each other because it creates steam - and thus their combination is positive?
  8. 1. In my opinion, technically, all the arguments are logical. 2. Majority of the time, below the staircase (or same spot) as the staircase, many contruct a store room. And this can help to "lock up the bad stars". In addition, it is always better not to have a bedroom or living area with really bad stars vs that of the staircase. 3. It is known fact that if possible, the stairs are covered (top and side). 4. As for wooden staircase, concrete, metal, all these can be based on the Five elements concept - if it does not have an impact of the building code, no issue. 5. Many homes with flaws such as corkscrew staircases etc.. may not necessarily give it a disadvantage. For example, homes that enjoy good Feng Shui e.g. http://www.geomancy.net/products/po-hunting/po-hunting-faq.htmCan easily overcome many flaws in a home and live to see and enjoy another day!
  9. Under the Flying Star Feng Shui, #9 represents the fire element. And fire inflames #2 (bad - weak - earth) and #5 (bad strong earth) elements. Not exactly the kind of cure one should intend to apply to these two bad earth stars. Maybe, just maybe for #3 (bad wood). In my opinion, therefore, it is not the normal convention to apply 9 coins for #2 and/or #5. However, as Flying Star analysis takes into account the 81 combinations of the Mountain and Water Stars, then in some cases, it may be used.
  10. 1.1 For your convenience, you may like to go thru some of these links:- 1.2 This link has detailed resources of what makes a good water feature as well as an understanding of many of the issues with a water feature:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/What_makes_a_good_Water_feature/_fountain 2. Often, if a water feature has been placed at the wrong location, it may lead to roving eyes of either one of the partner. (Flower of romace or illicit relationship). The correction is as follows:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Roving_Eyes_or_Infidelity
  11. 1. In my opinon, the professional method based on the Compass School of Feng Shui is that you should consider applying Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. Under the Flying Star Feng Shui, in general, you should check whether where is the Mountain Star #8. And hopefully, this is in an appropriate location. 3. For example, it would be coincidentally good if both this location with the Mountain Star #8 is also say, the e..g the balcony or living room area. If your knowledge of Flying star is acceptable, then a water feature may be acceptable to be placed at locations that have bad #5 (misfortune or sickness). 4. Other than the above compass school of Feng Shui, check where is the South-West (known as the indirect water wealth sector). If it is at the balcony, for example, it MAY be considered. (Usually, Flying Star is also used to check to ensure that this sector has favourable Flying Star. 5. If the above sounds "Greek" and if you want to DIY, you have to really put in much effort to study the Flying Star etc... Or get yourself a competent FS professional. 6. Please note that water position that is placed at a wrong location can affect either or both wealth and or relationshops. 7. Alternatively, someone suddenly wakes up and say " Hey! I don't seem to want to look at Feng Shui for advice on placing the water feature..." Here, do as what many had done for centuries... by own intuition.
  12. 1. In the past, I had posted messages on living in a small room. 2. Under the outline of Chinese Metaphysics, the highest order is what is known as Tai-Ji. Below this level is the Yin and Yang concept. 3. Below the Yin and Yang Concept and if Eight House (Eight Mansions or also called Ba Cai) Feng Shui cannot be applied due to a small room, then the "higher" level Yin and Yang concept should be applied. 4. Here, Yang represents the day or bright or things equivalent to study, physical exercise. While Yin represents activities for relaxation and rest and sleep. 5. Especially for a student, which must have a balance between studies and sleep, many logically try to set a balance between the both. 6. For some, who have a habit of treating their bedroom for rest only often see them going to (in Singapore) places like Mcdonalds to study or their school general seating areas to study. 7. Thus logically, for a small bedroom, the best that one can achieve would be in the above area of Yang and Yin - this concept for your small room. 8. Frankly, there is no book devoted to just a 1 small room! The above are some of the guidelines that I can think off. Which was covered in many past forum messages especially questions usually posted by students who live in dorms. Quote: Susan B. wrote: Any suggestions for corrections for living in 1 small room. 13. 1. One thing is for sure: When the buying stops, the selling can! http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Main_Page#Commercial_Products:_When_the_buying_stops.2C_the_selling_can.21 2. Try to avoid practitioners that give Feng Shui a bad name by selling all sorts of products. These people are there to cheat us of your hard earned money! Quote: Junie L. wrote: I have bought several amulets for career uses, (15 eye Dzi bead, citrine crystal, dragon tortoise, pagoda).
  14. 1. Some people have the opinion that since (the person's) home is a period 7 home; they were "told" that their homes MUST fly to Period 8 in order to obtain positive luck. 2. In real life situations, some homes have expensive renovations done or the quality of build is at the premium or luxury level. And to make major renovations is both costly and not practical. 3. Thus whether the Flying Star chart is a Period 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8, one can still see if one can tap the beneficial benefits UNDER PERIOD 8. 4. For example, I had mentioned countless of times, that if you are applying Flying Star, then check to see if the following Flying Star numbers CAN or MAY be activated for better luck:- 5. Currently we are under Period 8; But you home can be a Period 2, 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7! Where:- #8 = current prosperity wealth star #9 = future prosperity wealth star #1 = future, future prosperity wealth star. Thus it DOES NOT MATTER if ONE's home has flown to Period 8 or remains say at Period 6! One should see if one can tap wealth e.g. if the WS#8 happens to be at the balcony of a Period 6 home! The rationale and for practical reasons, one cannot just sent an "imperial edict" for the change of all homes to Period 8. Simply loony tunes and makes no sense! Since no two homes are the same; for some homes, a Feng Shui expert can help boost the Feng Shui luck, in some other homes where there are no fanastic stars to enhance, then it is hard to squeeze more luck out of these homes. It depends! Some homes can tap wealth and imagine that it is like a ten year old car, may turn into a Mercedes Benz! While another home, the Feng Shui is like a 20 year old broken down car! How much you revv the car, it would not run! So, the key success factor is: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Quote: Katrina L. wrote: Hello again Master Lee, Our house was built on period 7. Is it necessary to configure our house to period 8 to get positive luck since houses built during period 7 and other past periods don't have much luck. Is this true? Or can we just maintain our period 7 house and have it enhanced to have more luck by a feng shui expert? This was mentioned by feng shui expert Lillian Too.
  15. 1. If one wants to try to concieve, but unable to, Feng Shui can be used to aid in this attainment. 2. Frankly, for those who have limited knowlege and want to DIY to achieve above, will really have to be on par with a professional Feng Shui consultant's knowlege. 3. Again, let me remind users that this is a Free GENERAL advice forum and not a Free SpecificFeng Shui Consultation forum. 16. 1. There are an excessive number of texts without any spacing. 2. I will respond solely to the quote provided below. The remaining content, I have decided to forgo reading entirely. 3. If there have been no significant renovations in your condo unit between Period 6, 7, and 8, then it is advisable to create a Period 6 chart first. 4. It is advisable to prepare both a Period 6 and Period 8 chart. 5. Frequently, we utilize these two charts in the following ways: 5.1 When a residence has been occupied for a period, we assess its compatibility with our own lives. A professional Feng Shui consultant can often identify key points. 5.2 Before implementing enhancements or remedies, we analyze both charts. Occasionally, a water feature may align with either Period 6 or 8. Similarly, the mountain position may correspond to both P6 and P8. This necessitates a thorough examination of both charts. 6. According to a particular school of Feng Shui, it is believed that a condo can only transition to Period 8 when its foundation is replaced or reconstructed. 7. Therefore, it is recommended to analyze both charts. This approach is considered the most effective. Quote: Nin Z. wrote: but got confused as to whether we should use period 8 flying chart or our condo period 6 or whether our condo period has changed to period 8 since we had opened our N1/NW sliding glass door for a few months.
  17. 1. Frankly, there are more in Feng Shui than what you had mentioned. 2. The info and the enhancements that you want to make in my opinion, is like trying to apply "Kindergarten Feng Shui". 3. For those who want to DIY and use many of the "logic" found below, should seriously scrap applying this type of kindergarten Feng Shui. Here, it is better to go with your feelings than to "considering painting the front door black to help enhance my career/wealth ". 4. Proper Feng Shui has no precedence with ideas and hopes, below. 5. For those who really only want to DIY, have to really find means to enlarge your Feng Shui knowlege. Frankly, this cannot do. Judi W. wrote: Please direct me which way to go with this. I am very confused. I was considering painting the front door black to help enhance my career/wealth but it is clearly stated in many things I read not to have black (water) in the N/W! 18. 1. If one wants to find out one's career based on Chinese Ba zi, then you need to "include your DD/MM/YYYY. The free report to find your element is here:- http://www.geomancy.net/reports/free-report/freerpt-element.htm 2. You have find out your element and strength. 3. Under the Five elements concept: the industry known as "accounting" belongs to the metal element. 4. In addition, many of the past messages had covered things like the industry can be e.g. metal element. While the job specification is another consideration. For example, one can be:- in a Metal industry (accounting) but job specification is wood element. Wood element includes skills like co-ordination, strategic planning, management skills involving "growing" a company. in a Metal industry (accounting) and job function is marketing and sales which belongs to the fire element. 19. 1. There are many factors involved in Feng Shui when evalutating of a (new) home. 2. Since it is one of the largest investment that one is likely to make; if you are not sure, then try to get a competent practitioner to evaluate the home for you. 3. Traditionally, the number of the home is "transparent" to Feng Shui. 4. There are many different methods and formulas with regards to whether a house number is auspicious, inauspicious or neutral. 5. And in many instances, the phonetic "sound-like" e.g. Cantonese avoid #4 etc.... can affect the resale value (or marketing) of a home especially in a predominant area with some Chinese. 6. Numbers are a double-edged sword: For example, some people claim that number 13 is inauspicious to them. While there are another group of persons who says that number 13! is their lucky number! Thus, the saying goes "One man's meat is another person's poison!" 7. In general, most of the time, when buying a home it is best to bring all family members to view the home prior to purchasing a home. Quote: Anonymous wrote: the house no is 4 and one of my friend suggested 4 in feng shui means death.
  20. 1. You might like to refer to my most recent reply on what is the true meaning ofthe percentage of anelement. 2. Traditionally what is meant byan element be a 0% or too strong. You may like to refer to the posting:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=1&mid=23968&new= Above link with Topic: Elements missing Posted in: Discuss :: Free Advice (General Feng Shui) Posted on: Fri, 28 Nov 2008, 01:42 AM, 3. In general, the element thing is more rooted towards the Chinese and especially their new borns. 4. Here, some Chinese parent (e.g. the father and even the grand father) may play an active role. Where they would seek the advice of a geomancer to help them "name their child". 5. Briefly in the above link, one will understand that a Chinese name be selected to "compensate" a child for their lack of elements. 6. As each Chinese (Mandarin character) is associated with one of the Five elements: water-wood-fire-earth-metal; thus one of the considerations is to find elements that would either enhance the lack of element(s) or avoid that element. 7. Thus, in my opinion, there is no tradition for Westerners in this aspect of ba zi name selection and analysis. Please go thru the above article for awarness of more...
  21. 1. If the bedroom is occupied by husband and wife, http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Master_Bedroom:_Which_side_must_I_sleep_on In the above link, for example, the Master Bedroom is located in the South-West sector of the home. Under the Eight House concept, SW is suitable to the Mrs (her longevity) sector. While SW to : Mr is his death sector. If the master bed is placed as shown in the illustration; Mr should sleep closer to the master bedroom door, while Mrs, sleep closer to the "toilet" area. 2. Here in this example, therefore:the master bedroom is located at South-West (SW) compass direction. If the bed-head is placed in this position, MRS should sleep closer to the window while MR should sleep closer to the bedroom door. Here, MRS (LONGEIVTY) shield's MR (DEATH).
  22. 1. Please see attachment or a quick summary of below:- Balance of Elements in your Chart Based on the Favourable and unfavourable Elements. Ideally, a perfect harmony would be when you have 20% of each element to be in complete harmony. This shows you exactly how much of each element you have. It helps you determine which element listed in your favourable element you need more then another. Element Strength Percentage % Rating (!-- Recommendation --> 5 Water Weak 34 % Acceptable (Reduce Element) (!-- Have less of your Unfavourable Element --> 4 Wood Strongest 46 % Reduce Element (!-- Have less of your Most Favourable Element --> 1 Fire Strong 9 % Acceptable (Increase Element) (!-- Have more of your Favourable Wealth Element --> 0 Earth Extremely Weak 0 % Increase Element (!-- Have A LOT more of your Favourable Element --> 2 Metal Weakest 9 % Acceptable (Increase Element) (!-- Have more of your Most Unfavourable Element --> 2. Traditionally, when a child is born, a parent or grand-parent (e.g. grand-father) would approach a geomancer for advice on naming that child. 3. In the above example, the highernumber of counts need not necessarily mean thatit is of a higher percentage. For example, although the water = 5 counts, but the percentage is onl 34% vs 4 counts of wood, which amounts to 46%. 4. Thus in the past, the geomancer, when finding an auspicious name for the child would consider all the Chinese characters and avoid those especially with wood element and water element in that name. Most likely the child's name could have "earth" or "fire" or "metal" in the child's name to compensate for the above imbalance. 5. Therefore, if you look at, the ba zi analysis is geared towards "when born". And an "auspicious" name is said to compensate for too much wood / water element and suppose to improve the child's luck. 6. Traditionally, this is what the ba zi is used for. Or in modern times, some go to a geomancer to change their name in the hope of getting better "Heaven Luck". 7. Please note that the above, should not be confused with one's Ba Zi element. In this example, (see attachment) although this Sample Female count of wood is high and her water is also high, overall, you should be looking at:- Birth Element Since you are a strong Water, you don't want to be too overly strong otherwise, you will not be able to control yourself. Thus, you should increase yourself with your favourable elements as follows. Favourable Elements Most Favourable Element Colour: green/brown Favourable Element Colour: yellow Unfavourable Elements Most Unfavourable Element Colour: white/gold Most Unfavourable Element Colour: blue/black/gray Favourable Wealth Elements Wealth Element Colour: red 8. Under the ba zi, in terms of colours, one may consider one's favourable and/or unfavourable colours. 9. The above falls under "Heaven Luck". 10. Under the Chinese Holy Trinity of Luck, there are three kinds of luck:- 10.1 Heaven Luck - what one is born with (your ba zi) 10.2 Earth Luck - Where one live and work plays an important factor in one's luck 10.3 Man or Human Luck - Family, relationship, family bond etc... 11. Overall, your life reading is only about your Heaven Luck. And I have already illustrated what is meant traditionally by "missing elements" and how Chinese, try to improve this by finding an appropriate name (new born). Not every family does this, thou. Quote: June L. wrote: Please advise and help me the proper ways to balance the missing elements in my life reading .

  24. 1. If you are applying Flying Star Feng Shui, it is best to look at both the interaction of the Mountain Star# with Water Star #8 at that sector. (Base star should be noted) 2. For example, if the Mountain Star is #3 (bad wood) element, and the water star is #8, water fuels #3 leading to issues like: Conflicts, quarrels, lawsuits etc.... Quote: Pito W. wrote: I hope you indulge myamatuer question. 25. 1. Most likely, you notion of Career sector is based on a "fixed template"? model? If so, this fixed template model is a modern invention. And may not be true under Traditional Feng Shui accessment. 2. Under Traditional Feng Shui, it is best not to have a giant main entrance . As for a giant doorway, generally, it should not be an issue if it is part of the living area or the passageway. 3. Again, this "knowlege sector" is not based on Authentic Traditional Feng Shui. Quote: Three stairs go up through the giantdoorwayto the other side to enter the knowledge sector 4. What you had been applying is the modern invention.
