Dear Anon, Oops! Simply plain unlucky to have such a neighbour! Often, to be honest, sometimes there is nothing much we can do since this is common property! Logically, we could try to speak to our neighbour, first. (Crossing-fingers). But if cannot help... perhaps... long shot.. go to the neighbourhood "management"... if all these seems a hopeless idea... really sorry, though.. erh.. resign to fate.. already! Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. There are situations where, on occasions, if the neighbour does not have cctv camera or survelliance or anyone watching... JUST pray.. that all these things "disappear!". HINT: some one goes to steal all these "yucky" items and throw them away! Blame it on the cleaners? Hahaha....! Dear Anon, For landed properties (with privacy) all round e.g. no tall buildings that can have a view or peer into the home thru the sky light, the use of sky light is acceptable! In ancient Chinese buildings, or homes may homes have an open court-yard akin to letting light into the home or close to the concept of the skylight. The only issue is to avoid placing a single tree in the middle of the home and have a skylight shining down. In the past, I had mentioned that this is similar to the word "KUN" in Chinese and very inasupicious. However, if there is no single lone tree, it is still acceptable. Nowadays, in Singapore, many terrace homes resort to adding transparent roof tiles above their house staircase to bring in light into the home. This is perfectly acceptable and a "wise" choice! Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: How about a window in the roof, skylight, in the bedroom. We are thinking of installing one in the house we are building, how wouldyousuggest thatin order to give the maximum feng shui effect?

Dear Anon, 1. Looking into past practises; it is popular for the Cantonese (dialect group of the Chinese) to place a wall mirror facing their dining table. The Cantonese felt that having a mirror in this postion would be "auspicious" as food on the dining table can be "doubled" with the mirror image. 2.For interior designers,a large mirror is often recommended as most of us are aware of to create an illusion of depth orseemingly make the home look larger. 3. To be honest, having a mirror behind the sofa is often, less than idealalthough it can still be done or still acceptable. However, for practical reasons, if thesofa-head-rest is too close to the mirror, often,we may get "marks" e.g. greasy hair stains or smudges on the glass- thus may haveto spent some time or effort to clean it. 4. More importantly, for those who stay at higher floors or storeys, it is best to specify to the contractor that youwant a ONE single piece of wall glass. 5. This is because, more commonly, may apartments or access to many apartments are "restricted" by the size of the lift! Thus the contractor may not want (nor their workers) want to walk up the stairs carrying a large piece of glass! They often cut-it-into-two pieces and push it into the lift (escalator). 6. If so, try to check out the attachment, below. Two pieces of glass does not look visually appealing as it seems like "cutting" the room into two. If really ONE piece is not feasible, then go for two pieces of glass, instead! Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: Hi, I am renovating my house and would like to add a mirror to my wall to 'enlarge' the living room. Can I cover the whole wall with mirror with the back of the sofa set facing the mirror?

Dear Sophia, The most popular items to the buddhists are the 8-treasures. In the past, under the photos directory, I had posted a temple hanging large posters of the 8 treasures. Besides this, the buddhists believe in 14 other treasures (objects) such as boooks, cups, banana leaf, money.... The closest to tea-pot is a bowl-of-precious things. Otherwise, or thus, this "tea-pot" giving, in my opinion, can be considered as a "modern invention" or sales/marketing items ..sold... Frankly, it saying goes "it is the thought that counts!". Thus, it so nice of your friend to give you the 7 minature tea pot. Perhaps, why 7? Hmmm my guess is that there are 7 days in a week, thus it could "symbolise" or the 7 tea-pots, could mean that you may have "tea" all week round? Erh... hope this sounds sensible! In ancient times, while for the actual drinking of tea; in the Tang dynasty; black tea has a god. And in ancient times if one were to purchase 10 tea pots; a clay figure of the ancient god of tea was given away with this 10 set purchase.... In my opinion, since there are no ill connotations, here, I believe, there is no issue in displaying this gift especially around the dining area or a display shelf. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Sophia Chia wrote: A friend ofus gave us a gift during Chinese New Year with a frame of 7 miniature tea pot. Dear Cheryl, In my opinion, there should not be an issue with the situation that you had described. From a Feng Shui point of view, this is not an issue. There are some concern by some people only if there is a upper floor e.g. bedroom just above the car-porch. In such a situation, someone said that in the event that a car caught fire, it would be dangerous to have the car below this bedroom. But to be honest, how often have we heard that stationary cars catch fire. Alternatively, smoke detectors or fire safety sensors could be used, here. Warmest Regards, Cecil cheryl ludwig wrote: I am going to purchase a house. One of the ones I've looked at has a carport attached to the front of the house, open with a circular driveway coming up into it and going back out to the road. So, the cars would be parked right in front of the main entrance. Is this bad feng shui, or is it ok? Thank you.

Dear Joshua, Joshua Chia wrote: For me, the eight house report has indicated that NW would be a good location. How do I locate the best facing postiton of my master bed room? Does it mean that my master bedroom door has to face NW. Thanks In general, there should be at least 4 good sectors that are good for you. So get a layout plan of the house, or stand at the center of the house. Determine where is the North direction, and divide the house into the other sectors. So if your bedroom is located at the South, and South if your Heath sector, it is a suitable bedroom for you. If it is South is Spook sector, then it is not so suitable for you. As long as the bedroom is located in of the 3 other good sectors, then it will be deemed favourable for you. The breadwinner must focus on a good and suitable house facing, while the rest of the family should focus on a good bedroom to draw luck from the bedroom. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I'm a bit confused. My front door sits at 302 degrees NW and was built in 1918 which makes it a Period 3 home right... Do these positions still line up with the Ba-gua with the entry in the Career (north)section etc. or is my career section in in the NW since this is where my front door is? The Flying Star concept assess your the feng shui of the house based on the facing and period the house was build. While Eight Aspiration (based on ba gua), gives a general intepretation of what each direction is represented in general. In applying feng shui, always go for personalised analysis first. Meaning Flying Star is more important than Ba Gua analaysis simply because flying star is personalised to the home, while ba gua is general. In any case, if you are looking for career enhancements, you should focus on the house main door and your bedroom sectors based on the flying star and eight house because these affects you most. Then, check on your ba zi ie whether what is your favourable colour / career etc. URL: http://talk.geomancy.net After all those, then you want to look at enhancing the eight aspiration (ba gua), then go ahead. Dear Oliv, Oliv Sullivan wrote: If an entrance is on the South side of a house but is also in the SW quadrant of the home, is it considered to be a South or Southwest entrance? In general, if yours is a landed property, you should take the frontage of the building as your facing direction. This allows you to extend the flying star chart to the external environment such as the entire plot of land. Determine the type of house:- 1. Apartment (2nd-7th level), facing from the main door. 2. Apartment (8th level and up), facing from the living room/balcony. 3. Landed Property, the house/buildting facing direction. If you take the main door from the center of the house, then the sector and main door will fall in the same sector. But this will only be used to assess interior of the house only. But it makes it easy because the main door and sector falls in the same sector. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My kitchen happens to be right below my bedroom and my stove happens to be right below where my bed is positioned. I cannot move my stove to any other part of my kitchen What cure can I use to help me with this issue? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Generally, the reason why this is bad, is simply because the chances of fire starting is very high in the kitchen. So if a fire does start, your bedroom will be most affected by it. Don't be believe in using like 6-coins to balance up this sector. It won't do you much good as if there is a fire, the coins will probably melt. You be much better offby installing a smoke detector/fire alarm to alert you when there is a fire. Also, by using like electric stove instead of gas stove, the chance of fire or gas leak accident will be reduced. Hope that helps. Dear Terry, Terry Law wrote: How can i block Poison arrows/Sharp corners from the pillars pointing to my bed in my bedroom? Could this be the reason why i am having insomnia at night? Like the earlier post, if you can shift the bed to avoid the corner from cutting into your bed. If not, find ways to cover the corner, maybe some curtain decoration or if you can put some decorative partition etc to block it. In addition, you should also check if your room is affected by the afternoon sun, which can often cause a room to be too hot even after the sun has set due to the heat that is trapped. These is also often a factor which can affect a person's sleep. Besides Feng Shui, sometimes insomnia by other factors. I heard of pillows such as Tempur type foam pillow/mattress thatcan help some people get a good night rest. I also have heard that some people can also sleep better with the aid of aroma therapy. So you may want to check out the above two see if it helps you. I know that the quality of the bed/pillow seem to have a good success on such insomnia cases, so worth looking at. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I've brought a resale flat recently. The ex-owener had shifted the stoveto the servicebalcony.I noticed that I have to put the stove & the washing machine facing each other. I cannot shift the stove back to kitchen due to some restraints. Please advise whatcan Ido as I heard the stove &washingmachine shouldnot be placingeach other. Generally, the it is often not good for stove to face the fridge/washing machine. But this depends on the type of washing machine. For example front loading washing machine has a glass porthole. Thus under symbolism in Feng Shui, when water fills up the washing machine, it is considered a clash of water and fire (element). However, it should not be a major issue with TOP loading washing machine. Given that it does not have a glass pothole facing the stove. If one uses a front loading washing machine, in some homes, it is quite possible for just the side of this washing machine to face the stove. If so, then there is no clash of "water" and stove. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I've brought a resale flat recently. The master bedroom has built-in head-board& side cabinet for the bed/mattress. I noticed that the bed will be facing the door. Is it a good feng shui as I heard the it is not advisable to sleeping with with legspointing with the door. I do not want the shift the bed locationdue to theconstraints of the built-in cabinets & wardrobe. Do you have a skech or drawing of your current layout? As it is hard to suggest other alternatives or to see if you are really having this coffin position layout which is usually inauspicious. The problem most people are talking about is to have a bed that is position in such a way that when you open the door, you see the person's sleeping directly in front. Which looks like what we call a coffin position just like when people is trying to carry the dead out of the room. The only solution for this is position the bed in a different position or keep it blocked by some drop down curtain / partition etc. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Simon, Simon Lau wrote: Comparing it with my house which my main door is facing NE, master bedroom W, child bedroom SW and kitchen NW, it seems like my house is in a very bad position. In general, the only way to correct a suitable house or suitable room is either to move a more suitable house or choose a better bedroom. Otherwise, there is very little you can do in terms to correcting a suitability issues. Firstly, you should confirm your facing of the house, as the main door falling under the NE sector may not necessary be the actual facing of your home. So determine whether your house falls under:- 1. Apartment (2nd - 7th level), facing of the house is determined by the facing direction of the main door. 2. Apartment (8th level and up), facing of the house is determined by the facing direction of the living room / balcony facing. 3. Landed Property, facing of the frontage of the house. If the facing of your house falls in one of your better sector, then it is not so bad. As the house is considered suitable to you. If it is still North-East, then the house is deemed a very unsuitable house. In terms of bedroom, the bedroom isn't the most suitable, however, if the facing is suitable, then it is not so bad. Next, since a house is quite an expensive investment, it can be quite difficult to simply say move to a more suitable house. But what you can do is at least:- 1. Make sure that you correct or fix up any major flaws in the flying star chart of your home. This will minimise any other factors from affecting your luck. 2. Enhance your room with favourable colours based on your ba zito boost up your own luck. And if possible at least position your bed and sleeping direction in your best direction (ie North, East, South-East, South). But since it is west, keep it off-white, and avoid bright yellow or red to activate the 2006 star 5 in this sector of the room. So what you should do is focused on minimising other problem areas that might reduce your luck. This way, it will help to offset some of the unsuitable luck. However, in the long run if your house is facing your Disaster sector it generally means it is unsuitable. So in order to get quantum leap in feng shui luck, the only way is to move to a more suitable house. In the short run, you can try to minimise other leaks in the house that might further reduce your luck. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Mr. Lee, Thank You very much for your advice. I am bit confused about the following advice you have givenie., "if you have a feng shui ruler every8 inch will fall under the auspicious dimensions ie 7-10 inch or 15-18 inch etc." Would you please explain to me what you mean by this? My understanding is that the length of the desk should be a multiple of 8 such as 56, 64, 72 or 120,128, 136 or 144. Did Iunderstand it correctly? Thank You. Anon

Dear Cecil, What is the best measurement for a study desk? Height, width and length. How should the study desk be positioned. Also, it is extremely difficult to find a closed book shelf for purchase. What is the cure for a open book shelf. What color should the study room be painted? I am thinking of installing a crystal ceiling fixture is this okay! or should I use quartz? Thank You Malli

I read that we must not use crystal in the marriage corner and health or wealth corner. I am planning to install lights on the south, east and north wall with crystals, which also have gold plated metal band. 2 of these walls are our mariage corner and the east is my husband's health corner.Isit good to install the fixture described above or should I choose a metal (brass) fixture. Also, could I install crystal fixtures on the ceiling of a master bedroom. I am trying to improve the relationship to be harmonious. Thank you Malli

Dear Anon, Usually, this has more to do with "commonsense approach" to Feng Shui. As it is felt that a bedroom is a place of privacy and in that respect, ideally; the bedroom door should not face the main door. Otherwise, usually, other than "commonsense"; it has more to do with our own comfort (or feel good-feel-bad) type of situation. Especially if we open the main entrance door most of the time and if it is an apartment, someone walking past our home could peep into or peer into our bedroom. This is even more so, if the door looks directly into the bed! One approach is often to avoid having our bed placed against the wall visible to the main entrance door. Often, at this wall, we could place the wardrope or leave it "clear-space". The main idea is not to allow our bed to be seen directly from the main door. Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: Hi, my bedroom door is directly aligned with the main door. Is it bad? If yes, any remedy for this? Appreciate your professional advice. Thanx!

Dear Sophie, Further to what I mentioned; besides the ba zi element i.e. Heaven chart of a child, the most important consideration has to be biological! Usually, doctors would advise women to give birth as early as possible as when we turn 35 years old (unfortunately) some (women) may have difficulty conceiving. And sometimes the older we get the greater the risk of having children. Above, is just food for thought! Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Sophie, This is an interesting question! Actually, this has nothing to do with Feng Shui. But belong to the "Heaven luck" category or Ba Zi! Many of the information relates purely to the Chinese rather than applying universal to everyone else. For example, 2010 or between 14 Feb 2010 to 2 Feb 2011, this is suppose to be the Year of the Tiger. And in the past, many parents gave away a "baby-tiger-girl" child and place the child at the front steps of this convent:- http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/amenu/amenu.htm In local culture, sometimes it ain't bad to have a child born under e.g. the tiger year as often; because of the lower birth-rate, many of such child could get into "better" schools because there are fewer birthrate for that year. Contrast this to a child having to compete both going into a school: getting a place and competing academically with others for future places in secondary and even high schools. However, locally, many people still consider the Year of birth as important thus popular birth signs include: the dragon, ok years include the rat, the pig, rabbit etc... From a Ba zi perspective, when we determine the birth-sign of the child often, it goes down to the DAY of birth. Thus, each day will see a different birth element that covers a ten-day cycle: Thus, for example: today could be a Metal day. Tomorrow can be the water day etc.... We do get parents who intend to undergo cessarian birth requesting to check which day / and time for the birth of their child(ren). Warmest Regards, Cecil sophie corcoran wrote: hi there, my bday is 2 oct 1982 my boyfriend soon to b husbandis 31 jan 1976 when would b a good time 2 plan 2 have a baby so that they will b born at a time wen they will benifit from the feng shui in the same way we will and so that weall getalong? wewant 2 children, but not untill 2007/2008, 2009/2010/2011? i kno u cant predict exactly when the child will b born but could u give me an idea or way 2 work out if the child will b water, earth, metal etc and wat chinese horoscope will be best 4 us and the baby? thankyou

Dear Anthony, I hope I get your question correctly. If you are using the Luo Pan; there are many different types of Luo Pan out there. Dear Dharmawan, Wow! This is certainly new to me! In my opinion, I would consider this as simply "hocus-pocus" type of linkage or consideration. Imagine, if some of us were born in the year of the rabbit, then, we MUST rear rabbits? Or if we are born in the year of the tiger? How do we rear a free roaming tiger? Hmm... In addition, for many Malays especially in Singapore or Malaysia, have never touched a "dog" or had not rear one as dogs especially their saliva is considered "dirty". More importantly, I would consider this area that you had mentioned as belonging not so much as to Feng Shui (EARTH luck) of the home but rather: Human or man luck area. Here, often especially in Singapore, you get to see: 1. Just married couples: Often, it could be the wife that reared a pet e.g. a pet dog prior to their marriage and thus when the husband married her, they literally inherit the pet! But often, once this couple starts a real family, they often have no time for their pet! 2. Married but do not have children at all: There is quite alot of people who fall under this category. And these are the people that rear one or more pets e.g. dog(s) etc... The other question is: Rearing a pet for the sake of "Feng Shui (FS)"? Often, if one has only motivation to rear a pet in the name of FS? Then often many would find it a CHORE to do so. But of course if one falls in love with the animal, then it is often another matter totally. But, often if we are just "tolerating" the animal; we may even end up with more quarrels e.g. who is going to feed, wash and worse -- clean up on the dog's pooh! Therefore, it is truly unbelieveable that we must literally rear an animal linked to our animal sign! Worse still again, Malays find pigs unclean and ..... Warmest Regards, Cecil Dharmawan Halim wrote: I was born in a metal dog year. Just heard from a fortune teller in Indonesia that people born in the Dog year are advised to rear a pet dog at home to significantly improve their luck. The dog is expected to enhance the Feng Shui balance and harmony, and therefore improve their luck. Is this true? I have never heard about this before and have never reared a dog. My daughter, however, was born in a Dragon year. Would a dog conflict with her? Would a dog conflict with the turtle that I have been rearing for a year in the North sector (with no significant improvement in my career luck). Thanks
