  1. Dear Samantha, Based on your description; if you are to remove your roof tiles from existing area, then looks like your home will be flying into Period 8 already. But if you are adding new roof (without removing existing home's roof) by extending it, then your home would remain the previous period 4. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Anon, It is good that the house is rectangular in shape. Please see below:- In addition, this home suits more of a West group person. However, from a Shapes and Forms Feng Shui point of view, it is acceptable as most of the side of the home will not be afftected by any afternoon sun.
  3. Dear Sable, Please note that if the kitchen is at the South (side) or compass direction of a home; there is no issue of a stove facing a fridge location. The most adversely affected location is where the kitchen is at the north compass direction of the home. Since north = water, a stove facing the fridge could affect wealth. Traditional Feng Shui practitioners would recommend the placement of a mirror or a reflective film on the side of the fridge to reflect back the warmth of the stove. Bottle gourd is not used, here. To be truly honest, a blind is OK. But often it is OK BUT... BUT not practical! Since the stove is often at the level of our hip area, it would mean that the blind or cloth has to be hung pretty low to shield it from the fridge. And it is also not practical for movement such as opening the fridge etc.. In addition, the cloth or blind can easily get stained with oil very easily! Therefore, don't seem a viable solution. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  5. Dear Anon, Some practitioners may consider the apartment asSE facing because the main entrance is located facing SE. If so, since SE facing is wood, it is not suitable for a Strong Fire person. On the other hand, the alternative view is that it can be SW facing i.e. earth element. Thus, would be suitable to a Strong Fire person. Usually, without an onsite visit, I believe many traditionalist practitioners would consider your apartment as a SE facing one as the defacto facing direction of the apartment. Often, a more accurate assessment is needed e.g. onsite to view the surrounding buildings, garden, open space and to locate the qi flow coming towards the unit eithervia main entrance or the PES area etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Anon, Yes, it is after your wedding and not before. Thus if one's wedding is 3 months time and if the wedding is tommorrow or in two months time; there is no issue in attending your friend's/relative's wedding. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Chee Kheong, Yes, this is similar to "Shapes and Forms" Feng Shui. Where the position of the stove in the NW is considered inauspicious for everyone irrespective of their ba zi. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, In the past, in the 13th century, this ruyi is actually a blunt sword in the shape of the Lingzi mushroom. It was believed that taking linzi mushroom could bestow immortality or long life to a person. The ruyi actually symbolises "as you wish, what you want to do..." The sword was actually meant to guard against bad intangible forces or bad forces of the dark or unknown. Since this is considereda sword (even though it is blunt); it is still preferred to place it e.g. as a decorative item in a display shelf. Often, it is placed facing a window, also. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Anon, So long as the unit is not directly facing the frontage or the main entrance area of the Hindu temple; it is acceptable for the unit. For the two bedrooms; the test of whether there is sha qi or not is to stand at each of the bedroom windows. If the antenane seems to slice thru the window, then this is considered as a sha qi or poison arrow. Often there are two cures to this: 1. Reflective tinted glass Tinted glass or reflection from the glass is acceptable, here. 2. Day curtains or blinds Alternatively, one could use any of these to block the view of the antennaes. The concept is: "If it cannot be seen; it no longer becomes a threat". Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Anon, Yes, this is a Chinese belief. As it was felt that attending someone else's wedding soon after our own wedding is considered a "clash" and thus inauspicious to do so. One should wait until at least six-months after one's wedding before attending other people's wedding. This is part of the "older-Chinese-generation" belief. Since your parents are fully against both of you attending your friend's wedding, it is best to follow their instructions. As to whether something bad ... is another matter which according to the "clash" if possible, try to avoid doing so. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Jennifer, Since the basement apartment is at the back of the home. What is the view like from this back of the house? Most likely, the facing direction of your apartment is either facing the front of the house (if it is blocked by it) then most likely it could be the back as the facing direction. Or, in your basement apartment, are there windows? In particular, if there is a window in the apartment and it has a very nice view, then, this could instead be the facing direction. In my opinion, the most misunderstood issue on the bagua mirror is that one should not simply place it. As mentioned by many western Feng Shui sites or Feng Shui shops. Many of the western Feng Shui sites think that placing a ba gua mirror or (in actual fact) I believe the motive, is to sell as many ba gua mirrors without due regard to the actual purpose of placing it. For the Chinese, there are two main purpose of placing a ba gua mirror:- 1. To ward off -evil 2. To deflect sha qi (convex mirror) or "absorb" (concave mirror) a missing corner. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Sophia, When praying, it is usually the thought that counts. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Anon, In some of my previous messages, I mentioned often that in order for a home to have major problems, usually; there would be at least a 2 or 3 leaks in a home. And these leaks combined together to cause a problem. Thus, hopefully, many of the "leaks" in your home has been addressed especially other major leaks. For example: one simple major leak would be a straight path between the main entrance door and e..g the balcony window. Yes, what you had mentioned is correct. One of the most inauspicious or rather the most inauspicious location of a stove is directly at NW location. As this is known as "fire at heaven's gate". Logically speaking, the only solution for the above is to relocate it. Otherwise, frankly, there are no other known cure for it. " For example: if it is there, it is there." As mentioned above, hopefully, the home match your ba zi plus all other major leaks have been plugged. If so, in my opinion, this would help reduce a cumulation of issues. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Sable, If you do attend, try to wear clothes favourable to your ba zi. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, Please go thru the attached chart. This chart shows that person should preferably not register a business in his name especially if he intends to go into business in the year 2027. This is only a sample chart shows not only is the person's 10-year big luck is against the person but also overall luck as inauspicious period. With a weightage score of -22, -26, -24 as very inauspicious periods. These are the people who, where possible should not register a business under their name. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Anon, This sample attachment chart shows a typical salaried worker chart....
  17. Dear Anon, Part I - Sample of a business person's chart. (Excluding seeing the luck period of a person, first) Please see attachment. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee
  18. Dear Maria, It is better to approach the issue under the Holistic Approach to Feng Shui. For example, other considerations - if your home is a landed property is to make sure that the "mouth" of the house is not often opened too large. For example, some homes, one have both the main entrance and a panel of sliding doors to the front patio. Frequently by opening this two mouth -- may imply that children may not get married. There are perhaps also so many other issues, here. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Eng Soon, Thanks for the drawing. No. What was sketched was notwhat I meant. Please see attachment to this message for my illustration. Warmest Regards, Cecil

    Pumpkin

Dear Sophia, I am not to clear whether pumpkin (American slang) is similar to the local use of the term melon. But, if what your friend had displayed, locally in Singapore we call this "pumpkin" melon instead. Some call it golden melon because of it's colour. Usually, much like the mandarin oranges or "kum"; this is the phonetic sound like "Gold" for the Cantonese dialect group. Thus, exchanging a pair of mandarin oranges is like exchanging gold for the Cantonese. Thus, an orange melon also has the look of "gold" and in my opinion, perhaps, more readily associated with the Cantonese. And during the new year period, this melon or pumpkin? has been marketed to sell on this merit. Perhaps, this is why, it is on your friend's altar! But again, no Cantonese (who understands) the phonetic sound of the other type of melon i.e. water melon will ever place it at an altar or purchase it for their new home move-in or collection of key ritual! Since xi qua or water melon sounds like "death" to the Cantonese. And never give a water melon to the Cantonese! Since what you had mentioned is the golden kind, as mentioned, color looks good = to gold... thus seems acceptable. Fish pictures represents the saying " Every year got fish " or food on the table. In addition, the mandarin word for fish "yu" stands for abundance and affluence. Symbolic of good harvests etc... Of course, often the most common pictures are of plump fishes especially those of the graceful carp (koi) etc... No one displays pictures of fish (sharks)! If so, *JOKE* most likely the people in the home perhaps are erh.. Loan-Sharks? or most likely business people. In modern times, could also be associated with lawyers! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Felicia, Apparently, you are new to Feng Shui. 1. For the elusive "wealth corner" there are quite alot of things to take note off! 2. Authentic Feng Shui involves especially understanding Shapes and Forms and Compass School Feng Shui: Eight House / Flying star. 3. If para 2 seems greek, than either if you want to D.I.Y. then got to start from fresh going thru various concepts such as those under Para 2. 4. In addition, the most common mistake made by many of us is: often, we think in terms of only " where is my wealth sector" Not realising that : " Fix-the-leak, first!" 5. For example, many us heard of this story about this boy who tried to save Holland. He literally saved Holland by using his own hands to plug a leak from a dam! 6. Imagine, if your home is like a boat. Many of us only think of trying to place objects, figurines or literally pave a sector with gold. But unaware that our boat has a leak. 7. Even a small leak in the boat will eventually develop into a big leak and ultimately sink our ship! 8. D.I.Y if you can, but if one is too impatient, then may have to consider expert help. Frankly, there are no two ways about it! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Mothers, I don't like to sound like an MCP (Male chalvanistic pig) but I do seem to see many mothers in this forum worring unnecssarily because of reading too much "In-the-name-of-Feng Shui" issues. I understand the concern of many mums for their family. But if you are a mother, I strongly recommend that you see this show: Executive Decision reference: http://movies.warnerbros.com/ed/ Stuart Baird, Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, Halle Berry, John Leguizamo, Oliver Platt, Joe Morton, David Suchet, BD Wong, Len Cariou, In my opinion, the most meaningful part is where "Kurt Russell who only had some knowledge of handling a small plane, had no choice but to pilot the boeing jumbo jet. With Halle Berry at his side. At the point of emergency landing Halle Berry was assisting Kurt Russell with reminders on what to do and not to do. And later when Kurt Russell almost panic! Halle Berry.. said " JUST, FLY THE PLANE !" For example, like the question on should we pay "homage" i.e. pray to Tai Sui? Imagine this, many of the forum users would be at least 25 years or more especially for mothers. And if one has never prayed to Tai Sui in the past, should not suddenly pray to Tai Sui. Even if we do, are we going to pray to him/her for the rest of our "miserable" life? Our life would really indeed become miserable if we everyday we have to remember this, fear this fear that. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Paris, 1. Firstly this message is to all users. Geomancy.net has always tried our best to provide free reports as possible. But because of high costs of providing server resources etc... do support us thru either sponored links or other waysetc... 2. Since there are many permutations of e.g. strong metal vs strong metal, weak metal vs strong metal etc... To check on what are the such favourable combinations of elements, feel free to use the free comparison report under http://www.geomancy-online.com 3. Nowadays, again, I notice many users simply post a few lines: My or family's Date of birth are....... My house is 50 degrees.... And expect at the next log-in, their case to be miraculously done up for them. It is so easy to post these information, but imagine the work needed. Furthermore, many of these does not benefit everyone as it is specific to that individual, their family and home! Please be considerate! 4. Similarly, some user tend to posts a string of questions in one message. And often, I open the file, review it, close it. open it and never open it again. 5. Please avoid posting also questions like my sector is #5, #4, #2 tell me the cure? Some people just reguritate the free Flying Star report and expect answers. For those, why not use the paid Flying Star report? instead etc... or do it yourself if you can. 6. In terms of the Five Elements concept; in terms of personality clashes, both strong metal is said to be not as compatible with each other. But this is again academic. And, often, try your best to work on the Human aspect. Since you are the parent, one has the opportunity to in my opinion, work your best to make your daughter as both a friend and good parent. In fact, with the enhancement of humanities and social studies; I believe, this area has far more to offer than what Ba zi can at the moment. What we do not wantto see is "auto-suggestion" or self-fulfilling prophecies. I am more in favour of applying traditional tested tools like Shapes and Forms Feng Shuiand/or Flying StarFeng Shui to enhance our earth luck. Butwhat you havehas much to do with Human luck factors - i.e. relationship with daughter etc... This is where earth luck has less of an influence than human (relationship bonding ) luck. This is why, often, some people may only have average earth (Feng Shui) luck but because of excellent family bonding; they could do more than those who solely rely on just earth luck! Drawing a parallel: A hobbist often has the passion! While someone who is told to place a water feature for luck, may not often do as well as a hobbist! Think about that! 24. Dear Mr Mahtani, Hope you can do a favour by not posting your messages under CAPS LOCK. This is because in the internet and based on netiquette, what you wrote is suppose to imply "SHOUTING" which is not the best form of participating in any forum, not just this one. Therefore, I appeal to you to avoid "shouting" if you are not already aware of it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Sophia, 1. Traditional Feng Shui has it's roots to the Five elements concept. 2. In my past forum messages, authentic Feng Shui has to do with both the Five elements concept and numerology based on say the Flying Star Feng Shui numbers. 3. Thus, whether the question of using an 8 wooden windchime is acceptable or not -- there is frankly no right or wrong answers. It is often due to one's interpretation and understanding or belief. 4. Much of many of the component of luck is "inter-twined" between Earth luck and Human luck! 5. This is because human beings are unique. And fortunately or unfortunately, most of us either have to be "swindled" or seem to think that paying for something may mean us good. This is where "sugar" coated earth luck could result in human luck! 6. For example, in Singapore, we hear of people who con the elderly by selling them a mystical healing stone! That suppose to heal things like cancer. 7. Some of us are neutral to this feeling. But some of us dwell with hope and because of HOPE, it spurs us or our body to energise and do a recovery! 8. This is why, some people "swear by" the purchase of so called Feng Shui products. And they seemly based on it to gain strength and hope from it (although it is just a sugar coated pill). In many laboratory tests, it also suggests that some people who had simply taken sugar coated pill did "benefit by it". 9. So, most likely many of us if we have a strong believe, or hope or passion (hobbists) can equally benefit without buying any of the commercial products. Since commercial products are truly non-magical. 10. Coming back to your point: 11. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, a number represents both an element and it's strength. 12. Let's only look at the simple issue an element:- 13. We often hear: tie 3 i-ching coins together and place it into our accounts book. 14. In terms of interpretation the number 3 represents WOOD element. And since the i-ching coins are often made of copper or brass or a mixture of other metals, here, under the five elements concept: "METAL destorys WOOD". As a result, it is like producing wealth. 15. Imagine a small block of wood. We use a metal article to carve out an object of art. This $5 object now can be sold at a higher price. 16. Traditionally, when we say hang a wind chime to cure a sector e.g. #5 (misfortune, sickness) = strong earth; many authentic Feng Shui practitioners would recommend a 6 rod hollow wind chime. Where 6 = big metal. And constant clinging of big metal helps to destroy it. 17. What about a wooden 8 piece wind chime? This can be considered a "modern" invention, today. But, academically, it is sound: Since we do not often get to see another of the same period cycle, as each cycle comes, some people may make product academically tuned to this period. Since we are in period 8, one argument is that anything to do with 8 is favourable. And since 8 is earth, a wooden windchime is acceptable. Since wood (much like the root of the tree) crushing into earth to "produce " wealth. Thus, from an academic point of view, so long as it can be logically related to the five elements and numerology under flying star, I cannot really fault the technical aspect of it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
