Dear Anon, In Asia, in my opinion, the most popular set of display figurines has got to be the "Fu Lu Shou" set of threefigurines.Either in a set or lettering. Before the popularity of the laughing buddha or buddha figurines; the above can be found in many "well-to-do"Chinese homes as early as 1960's. They are in-fact very popular right up today. The "Fu Lu Shou" figurines do not have any religious connotationsbut simply many Chinese love to display this set of three wise persons. As mentioned as one of the most popular display items of any Chinese homes. Thesethree figurines comes in many sizes, large, medium and small. They come in all sorts of material from gold, silver plated to ceramics, jade, wood or other materials. Locally, many modern Chinese or in Singapore; in my opinion, very few "English" educated Chinese display the laughing buddha in their homes. I foundin particular, many Chinese educated Singaporeans and many live in three or four room Housing board apartments love to display it facing their door! As mentioned, most likely, the Englisheducated Singaporeans, felt that the "laughing buddha" is more associated withthe buddhist "religion"and thus perhaps not as popular as the "neutral" Fu Lu Shou figurines. Frankly, there is no harm in buying onemerely as a display. And certainly nottopray to. I believe, the smileof the laughing buddha is suppose or perhaps make some people -- erh.. happy...hmm.. For the Chinese, for those who buy a figurine to pray e.g. such as theGoddness of Mercy is a very common thing forsome Singapore Chinese couples. Usually, a geomancer often recommends the type of material that the couple should purchase: For example, if the breadwinner is a weak wood person then recommended to purchasesaythe Goddness of Mercy made of wood.If the breadwinner is considered as a weak water person, then perhaps, the geomancer would recommend a gold or plain white goddness of mercy. As gold or white represents the metal element. Thus metal supports a "weak water" person. Here, no matter what theory is used, Chinese traditional analysis always has much to do with the Five Elements concept:-http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm So don't worry, if you like it (decoration or the "feel-nice-factor") just get it! Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Is it true?. because I always believed Laughing Buddha means presence of something good, pure at your place and so its good for every one
  2. Dear Patricia, Yes, in particular, even if your home has a combination of ten, it is good to review the layout plan to see if the home could or could not benefit from a change of Period. For example, as you had mentioned theparticular concern iswhcih part of the home the north #7's fall into. If this is the living room or activityarea orroom, then, one may seriously have to consider "flying" toperiod 8.Again, you need to study the Period 8 chartto see if the layout plan is suitable for activating double auspicous #8 at the South sector as well as other good sectors like SW and West. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: I live in a south 2 period 7 house in all rooms there is the auspicious 10 combo however in the north sector there is 2 sevens in mountain and water stars . Is this cause for concern, now that we are in period 8? Do I enhance the good and let the 10 vibration counteract the bad stars or doI need more help?
  3. Dear Mr Yong, To be honest, once you have already bought the home, it is best to concentrate to make it Feng Shui friendly. Overall, inmany instances of a`T` junction senario, often, cars should be seen as moving towards the home. And when it does, vulnerable parts of the home e.g. the main door or windows are at the "receiving" end of this sha qi. If say your plot of land is seen as at a `T` junction; but if the home that was built on this plot of land is away from this `T' junction in particular the main door e.g. is on the side of the home or windows not directly facing the `T' junction, then the developer/designer/owner had made a good job of building the home negating this `T' junction. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: ML Yong wrote: We bought a house (facing south) whichis situated at the end ofa t-junction whereonly the right hand (southwest) side of the housefaces the t-junction where cars aremoving away from the house. From the plan, the house is slightly tilted to the southeast so it's not directly facing the t-junction. However, we could see the t-junction especially the southwest side which is facing the road where cars are moving away from the house. The t-junction road is mainly used by residents of the housing estate. Is this house considered facing t-junction?
  4. Dear Andy, In the past, no one has ever heard of such a thing or even products using the Feng Shui name. For example, nowadays, many are ripping off others by using terms like "Feng Shui jewelery". It's the blackhole effect. What happens is that if we purchase such products, our pocket(s) will have a huge deep dark hole. And mostly, the seller benefits from this sale! For many Chinese, let's imagine or go back to our grand-parent's time or for many, our parents home. There are no such things prior to 1970's as Feng Shui crystals nor is it common place to find three-legged toads. In the past, it is widely common to find more popular stones such as jade and diamonds. But, things like blue gems is not particularly popular with the Chinese. As you had mentioned, buy it for only for one's "Feel-good-factor" only! Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Andy Dai wrote: I have this queries abt stones or gems that helps to activate element. 5. Dear Kenneth, For a strong water person:- 1. Career with wealth = Fire career 2. Career with power and authority = Earth career 3. Career that suitable but not leading to great wealth = Wood career Quote:Kenneth Chong wrote: According to my Ba Zi, I am a Strong Water person. 6. Dear Anon, Frankly, you are not alone. There are thousands and in-fact millions of people who bought homes prior-to or never even heard of Feng Shui. Or had bought their dream-home prior to consulting which is their suitable directions etc... In order to apply Feng Shui, it is best to go more on a holistic approach. As there are many (many variables) not just "one-wrong" point and oops! We are done for! For example, in many instances, even if a home does not suit us but some homes may have "superior" external shapes and forms. In addition, under Flying Star Feng Shui for the current period "Period 8" - in general; NE homes are suppose to or can benefit from good Feng Shui qi. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: I've bought an apartment with main door facing NE, which isapparently in the Death direction for my spouse, and Irritation direction for myself What can i do now??
  7. Dear Anon, Typically, there are numerous factors to consider beyond merely visualizing one's Ba Chai (Eight House) Feng Shui. The Eight House Theory is relatively fixed, and the essential aspect of this theory is: How appropriate the house is for the breadwinner. It is more related to the time spent in a sector and the optimal facing direction of the bed-head and the study/work area. The Key success factor in Feng Shui is to understand and apply the 12 Habits of Feng Shui as follows:- Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: My house has 2 toilets in the north-east sector which is considered my "Excellent" direction. How to improve the feng shui of such?
  8. Dear Georgy, #8 = current prosperity and appears as the base (or palace star #8) #1 = future, future prosperity water element ON Mountain star AND #6 = strong metal Thus, #6 strengths the mountain star #1 (future, future prosperity). In addition, base star #8 is the current prosperity thus bring good relationship and networking luck. Overall, despite your ba zi element: You can consider painting the room cream or beige. As you are a strong metal person although earth colours are suppose not to besuitable for you:- Earth colours are: BRIGHT Yellow, cream or beige But because this sector or room has verygoodearth (mountain) elements, you can seriously consider painting this room: cream or beige. (Pastel shades of earth tones). In addition,a picture or painting of a mountain imagecan be used in this room to activate the relationship, networking luck to thisroom. 9. Dear Anon, In my opinion, it more to do with either: a. "old folks-tale" and /or b. may affect some of us psychologically. c. health wise a. Old folks-tale Many of us would find it reasonable to hear old tales or belief that carring a mole at the back of our body is considered like "carrying" a burden. Sounds resonable, rite? b. Psychology or feel-good-feel-bad Small things like these may affect some people's confidence level and affect their mind-health c. Health reasons Hopefully not but sometimes they could be cancerous or start of a tumour Frankly, there is no right or wrong in this case. Any one of the above could be reasons why we may consider removing the mole(s). On the other hand... some do not remove at all. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: I have heard that moles at the back of the body signify burden. In that case, does removal of such moles help to enhance one's luck?
  10. Dear Anon, Frankly, there are many interpretations of kitchen in the "wrong" sector. Under Traditional Feng Shui, the major concern is the Kitchen and in particularly the stove at NW sector. NW is suppose to be the Heaven's gate. And under Traditional Feng Shui, it also reflects the head of the household. And when a stove is located at NW, then it is commonly called "fire-at-heaven's" gate. However, some modern Feng Shui practitioners call the SW sector the romance sector. I believe, this is what you are concerned with. As for SW = romance sector, this is usually not a key issue under Traditional Feng Shui practitioners. As mentioned, this is considered more of a "modern" invention or modern concern. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Hello. We just moved into a new apartment. Unfortunately, the kitchen is an open kitchen in the southwest corner of the apartment, and I heard this was very bad. It is not totally enclosed either. What can we do to remedy the situation? Thank you!
  11. Dear Tatjana, Welcome! Frankly, it is very common for many to sleep in a bad sector of their home. This being that the Eight House Theory is based on 50-50 percent i.e. East or West group. Thus in general, 50 percent of the time; or one out of two persons may be sleeping in either a good or bad sector depending on the degree of unsuitability. What is more important, is that what you had analysed is considered only the "tip-of-the-iceburg".. It is better to practise Holistic Feng Shui if one wants to better understand the situation or influence of Feng Shui. In order to be more meaningful; it is best not to look at this one situation in isolation. Thus, since you are new, the idea here to learn or find out more about good and bad Feng Shui. Broadly, you should find out more about Shapes andForms Feng Shui;Five Elements Concept etc... The idea, here is to build a bigger picture ofthe Feng Shui of your home. The bigger the picture, the better. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Tatjana Hatten wrote: Hi I am new to feng shui and have a question on good and bad directions. So is it still my total loss direction (SW). I am so confused about this. My bedroon is SW so I am worried about this. Thank you for your help on this.
  12. Dear Trudy, Frankly, there is no hard and fast rule in garden design. Even for gardening, there are many factors involved: 1. plot size 2. weather conditions: Tropics / Four Seasons 3. owner's preferences The type of trees /plants or shrubs would depend on the country we are all in. In Singapore, especially in the 1970's, it is very common for many landed properties to grow a mango tree in one's compound. In many instances, the mango tree (depending on the garden area) is often planted at the corner of one's garden either at the front-of-the-home or at the back. When this tree is often around 10 to 15 years old, they can be as tall as 3 storey's high and leave quite a large "dark" footprint below the tree, because of it's thick foliage. Good or bad depending on the location. Good as it helps shade homes that directly face the afternoon sun. Bad if the home is north-south facing - as it affects the amount of light entering such a home. In many instances,a well trimmed or properly maintained garden need not have"jungle" like plants or trees. It (the garden) should be appealing to the us. If not sure, go for moderation or get a respectable company (professionals) to help design your dream garden! Usually, theywill putup proposals or show some samples of their work and also recommend some "hardy - reliable" plants/trees that suit your country. Interms of Feng Shui, some use cactus but often this is placed "strategically" at corners or vulnerable locations where someonecan easily climb into the home. - Especially for those who stay ina fenced up home. But inmost parts of America, it seems such full fencing is quite rare.. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Ghee Heng, 1. Under the Chinese Holy Trinity of Luck, you have mentioned that your HeavenLuck or ba zi (birth element) is that you are considered a "weak water" person. 2. Overall, there are three kinds of luck:- Heaven Luck = what one is born with Earth Luck = Feng Shui of home and office Human or Man Luck = Relationships, family Thus, even if one is considered a "weak water", in general, we may consider a water position in the home. But since we cannot live in isolation i.e. we have our personal ba zi; the home also has it's personal ba zi element. If you want to place a water feature in the home: be it a water feature or fish tank, then, try to draw out a birth chart of the home (Feng Shui) using the Flying Star Feng Shui. In general, Do look out for the following flying star numbers:- Water Star #8 (Current prosperity)= if say the North sector contains a water star #8, then, placing a water feature in such a sector would benefit you greatly as your "weath can be activated". #9(Future prosperity). As #9 represents fire element on it's own, it is not wise to place a water feature at this sector. If there is no bad stars #5 or #2 in this sector, such a water feature, would drown your "future prosperity". #1 (Future, future, prosperity). In general if there is a water star #1 in the sector, then it can benefit froma water feature, here. In addition:- Mountain star #8 - In general, should north sector has only this mountain star #8, it should be activated with a mountain. But, if a water feature is used, it may drown your wealth luck. It is like we are "drowning the mountain with water!" Please note that the above is for illustration only. Therefore, the main qualification is that I had mentioned "in general". Under real world conditions, we need to see the interaction of Mountain starwith Water star with base (Palace star). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Hoa Luong, Yes, one alternative is to place a plant. Alternatively, if we frequently leave the wooden door open, one could consider a reflective grill gate e.g. stainless-steel gate that has a mirror effect that covers most of the side of the gate that faces this stairs. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, 1. What happen if you do not think of it as a pie? 2. Imagine an apricot. If one cuts an apricot into half. There is surely a circular seed. And this circular seed occupies space within it. Does'nt this seed = your missing centre palace? 3. For those who had studied geography. We were told that the earth has at least a centre core. Does this not become your missing centre, piece. Anonymous wrote: under 8 pie wedge it produces only 8 cells missing centre palace

Look at this way. Even in period costume movies or tv shows, seldom have we come across commecial products or items like pi xu etc... Spare a thought and try to recall the home where you, your parents or even grand parents lived-in. In the past, there are no such things as crystals, pi xu, 3-legged toads. The rationale why many Feng Shui practitioners or sites sell them is that they are cheap to manufacture, but through "demand" in the name of "sugar coated" Feng Shui, many of the sellers sell them at a huge profit. What happen is that our pockets are empty while these people gain from us. For example, does the seller of the pi xiu give a guarantee card. For example that says, within 14 days of purchase you are sure to touch lottery! No rite? If we pay by credit card, even worse if we do not clear the monthly roll-over debt. Frankly, all these should be considered as decorative items. One can place a three-legged toad in the home. Face main door, face into the home, face left, face right.. everything would remain status quo. NO change. Under traditional methods of assessment: 1. Our Heaven chart or ba zi. Our Ba zi chart usually can show or indicate which period when we do have "pian cai" or 4D (lottery luck) 2. Our earth luck Under Flying Star Feng Shui, mountain #8 can be activated for such kinds of luck. Such as placing a bowl of coin or boulders at the mountain star #8 In addition, the current set of Flying star numbers have equal significance in lottery luck:- #9 - future prosperity #1 - future, future prosperity Sometimes, if the sector purely has #9 our future prosperity. #9 happens to be a fire element. And if we wrongly place a water feature at this location, we may drown our "lottery luck". From the above, one can see that the worst approach is to buy and buy and buy products. The seller will be laughing themselves to the bank! While we the naive consumer will end up having a "black-hole" in our trouser pocket... The morale of the story: Buy the product if you like it as a decoration item. But, otherwise, leave them alone. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Corey Khoo wrote: Lately, I have been 4D by a few digit the last one e.g. if I buy 9491 it will come out as 9493 etc. I have been advised by a friend to place a pair of Pi Xiu in my bedroom. Then I read somewhere that Pi Xiu is not supposed to be placed in the bedroom, I am confused being new to Feng Shui. Please advise.
  17. Dear Karen, 1. Honestly, there is not much that can be done in such a situation. 2. According to the Commonsense approach to Feng Shui, the primary concern is the increased likelihood of a fire originating from the kitchen. Therefore, it is generally not advisable to have a bedroom, door, or wall adjacent to the kitchen. However, in contemporary settings, the installation of fire sprinklers (or, if unavailable, the strategic placement of smoke detectors) is highly recommended. 3. If your residence is constructed with brick walls (or solid brick walls), it is preferable compared to having gypsum or wooden walls that separate the bedroom from the kitchen area. 4. Much of your concern is likely psychological in nature. It is advisable to set aside the aforementioned worries. I believe there are additional aspects you can explore to enhance your Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Karen Call wrote: I have recently moved to a new flat. My bedroom shares a common wall with the kitchen and my head faces the kitchen wall. 19. Dear Anon, Firstly, a warm welcome! The common saying goes " Rome was not built in a day". Nowadays with easy access to the website, you try to begin exploring authentic Traditional Feng Shui. How to start? The Chinese Luck system is based on "the holy trinity" of luck. And one can classify most of the systems in general under:- 1. Heaven Luck - what one is suppose to be born with 2. EarthLuck - The Feng Shui of one's home &/or office 3. Human or Man Luck - self, relationship with others One useful start is to read the various articles in this forum classified under one of the three categories to better understand the three different luck systems. Other useful reads or classification are: 1. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui 2. Compass School: Eight House & Flying Star 3. Five Elements Concept It is not possible to list out a host of these and other concepts. But I am confident that if you can start to grasp all of the above, first, then it would be a good foundation stone for you to start a proper journey applying sound FS practises. It is a pity that Feng Shui is not too commercialised. And one key point is: Avoid buying PRODUCTS, PRODUCTS & PRODUCTS. Many sites sell everything under the name of Feng Shui (FS), I personally feel that what many consumers are doing is to throw away our money. The people that gain are those that sell such products! There are already many people who even purchased such products with credit card and had lots of roll over finance burden. Some case even leading to divorce as one partner secretly practise such "FS". So long as one keeps away or beware or "cavet emptor - let the buyer beware" of such acts which may lead to a vicious cycle of poverty, misery etc... 20. Dear Chrissy, Not all 3rd day of each lunar month is bad. And many Chinese do celebrate some of the auspicious events on this day:- For example:- 3rd day of every 1st Lunar month Birthday of a Chinese Toaist God commonly called Sun. Many Toaist celebrate his birthday on this date. 3rd day of every 2nd Lunar month Birthday of the Chinese god of literature. 3rd day of every 3rd Lunar month This is the birthday of the God of the protector of the North 3rd day of every 8th Lunar month Birthday of the Kitchen God deity 3rd day of every 10th Lunar Month Birthday of General Mao Especially in the past, because of the birthday significance of such famous gods (deity or general) these days are considered auspicious for some. Thus, from the above, it does not look like all 3rd days are very inauspicious. It is like saying that because it is the Year of the tiger, one cannot get married. Based on our experience, the ba zi dates are personalised to the person. It has a basis of one's ba zi with five elements concept. Thus, if it is me, I will still stick to the same date. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Chrissy RAdon wrote: I have read that the 3rd day of each lunar month (+ several other days) are very inauspicious "killing" days of the month and big events should be avoided on such days. Is this still the case if personally (based on DOB & time of birth) this is a very auspicious day? Should I avoid moving house on the 27th July and Move in on 28th?
  21. Dear Anon, The rule of thumb here is to "visualise" each sector and also their specific star numbers. For example, in a bedroom, if there are two sectors that cut-across into the this bedroom, firstly visualise where the bed would be. Often especially the location of the bed and/or work/study table should be seriously considered as the major factor in determining which "sector" to use. In addition, where is the windows. One may also need to visualise which sector covers most the windows etc... In my opinion, with each experience, it is much easier to work on such plans. Another commonsense approach is that if say a room is located within two sectors and if one of sectors contain bad stars or a combination of #5 misfortune/sickness and or #2 sickness; then one should be more cautious and include these stars when considering "cures" to the room. Frankly, much of it depends on each layout as no two layouts are the same. Even in a 9 grid formation, especially if all rooms / floor plans are not of equal size, there is surely a situation where a room can also come into another sector. Well, see which method is more comfortable to you. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: most of the time when using 8 pie wedge method the sector covers two rooms or even more and makes it difficult to decide where to place remedies.
  22. Dear Lindy, Frankly, it is a good idea to rebuild the home entirely. Since your friend knows the history of the site; where there is no major history of bad qi other than she has no "feelings towards" the old home. As mentioned earlier, it is always better to rebuild totally or at least if rebuild partially not to touch the frontage of the building. I have produced a past link whereI told the story of how my grand pa, "chopped" off the head-of his home. No sooner had he done that and when work started on the new wing at the head-of-the house, he met with "calamity". The link is below:-http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-grandpa3.htm Traditionally, if a geomancer has been engaged, a good date is chosen to do the inital start of piling or foundation work. In addition, your friend can take the opportunity to built a "Feng Shui" friendly home. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Anon, Usually, what you had described is considered under the category of "Commonsense approach" to Feng Shui. This is often considered inauspicious because that there may be a probability or "a higher risk" of landslide. Especially if there is unduly a heavy rain and plus soil erosion. Because of this reason, it is considered inauspicious under Feng Shui. However, if this is not a concern, then, frankly (in general) there is no issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: could you please let me know if up hill back gardens (when the ground behindones housegoesvery steep up)could have anegativeeffect.
  24. Dear Anon, In my opinion, although the main door facing may not be suitable to you; however, it is too premature to know for sure how it affects your finance. For example, this can be considered as ONE (1) leak. But yet, this one leak can be either: No or minimal issue (minor leak) or a major leak. From my past experience, many other factors need to be taken into account:- 1. External Environment (The landscape, the site, the building). This is strongly affected by Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Usually, the rich get richer, is by building a home specific to draw wealth from the environment. This is not illegal as one cannot complain to the police to arrest him/her. Quantum Leap Feng Shui exists where we truly can "suck" wealth from the environment. One method is the design of the home. For example, if the close neighbourhood have buildings in rectangular shape, then this owner's Geomancer may propose a "taller" home in the shape of a tree. Under the Five elements concept rectangular shape belong to the earth element. Thus a building shaped like a tall structure is likea tree getting nourishment from the ground (earth). This is just an example. 2. Interior Environment The home / apartment. Here, a combination of Shapes and Forms Feng Shui with Compass School (Eight House and Flying Star) plus Ba Zi should be used effectively to either neutralise sha qi (bad qi / poison arrows) and /or to improve or enhance good Feng Shui. Whether this main door leak is major or minor could also revolve from an analysis under Flying Star Feng Shui. For example, if your home faces NE or SW; under Period 8, this is suppose to be one of the better homes. And if one applies Flying Star correctly, then, one can have a "quantum leap" of luck towards us. Thus, even if the home is considered inauspicious for us, but because it has better Feng Shui, then, your incompatibility with this home is reduced or negated by such better Feng Shui. Thus in general, it is said that the "leak" is minor. If your facing direction is say NW or North. Then, currently such facing directions may not have good Flying Star charts. If so, again in general (without taking into consideration other factors) this home already have not so good birth chart coupled with "death or disaster" for you may perhaps bring financial issues. As both the Flying star and eight house charts are not good. From the above, try to understand that we should not immediately "black-mark" a home just because we discovered ONE leak. We need to dwell further to find out not only is this a major or minor leak but perhaps can we: 1. neutralise or reduce any OTHER leaks? 2. can we enhance any other sectors to improve our luck? Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Hi Master, if I'm staying in a house where themain dooris facing the death and disaster directions according to my ba zi, I gather that there's a possibility that I'llhave some financial problems. How do I remedy that, cosI can't possibly shift house right?
  25. Dear Krisztina, Since you mentioned hat you flat-share; within your room, yes; you can still do a "little" of Feng Shui. There are two approaches and both can be combined together:- 1. Eight House Compass School Feng Shui Try to determine whether you are either an East or West Group person. If not sure, can use the free tools provided under http://www.geomancy-online.com It is recommended that you should generate the best bed-head direction and best work/study table direction charts. And if possible, invest in a small compass. Once youhave all these, you can then try to see whether you can position your bed / study in the best possible directions (not withstanding the restrictions of the current bedroom i.e. wardrope, windows). 2. Commonsense approach Many people all over the world don't even have a single notion of what "Feng Shui" or in India "Vastu" is all about. And the most natural is to organise the bedroom based on one's instict. For most of us, this is the most natural thing to do. In addition, feel free to decorate or place even things like for some girls (or ladies) soft toys, photo frame of family, friends etc...
