  1. Dear Anon, 1. In a recent forum message, I have proposed that:- 1.1. Understand what element each of the numbers belong to. 1.2. Whether they are strong or weak. 1.3. Are each of the individual elements good or bad on it's own. For example, #5 is a rotten (strong) earth element Under period 8, #7 is also a bad (weak) metal element Under period 8, #9 is the future prosperity star. But like a child, on it's own it is pretty good. But if it associates itself with #5 or #2 (both strong earth) #9 turns into a rotten kid. 1.4. Understand the productive and destructive cycle of the Five elements concept thoroughly. 2. If one does the above, one can have a good solid foundation in both understanding and harnessing the power of the Flying Star effectively. 3. Sometimes, it is a pity some of us go to some Feng Shui forum and hear flowerly languages like 1 white, 2 purple etc.. and many of the concepts seeks so eloquent and fantastic sounding but the end result is like the Hokkien expression " Lia Bo Qui" or literally translated: " Catch-no-balls. 4. Therefore, in my opinion, learning, understanding or applying Flying Star Feng Shui is not all greek nor is it hidden in secrecy. 5. THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR (L.C.M) Even Ba Zi or Pillars of Destiny uses this same common denominator or in mathematics is known as the "Lowest Common Denominator" (LCM) for short. 6. FOR THE NOVICE OR NOT SO EXPERT IN FLYING STAR FENG SHUI 1. For example, first try to slot each component into the productive cycle of the Five elements concept:- where we always have this productive cycle:- METAL - how do you cure the center of the house, when: the palace is 7, themountain staris9-, and water star is 5-, but this year the annual number is 4?? any advice is appreciated thanks from gloria in texas
  2. Dear Maria, Placing a water feature at the location mentioned below can be a double-edged sword: both good and bad. 1. Usually we hear of the good news, first:- with a star combination of #2 with #7 and base #9; this implies that your home was built between 1984 to 2003 or had a major renovations done during this period. If so, MS#2 is a pain-in-the-neck drowning that period's auspicious #7. Today, in 2004 onwards, #7 is known as the past prosperity star. Thus, you are correct to say that a water feature can be used here. This is because #7 is known as Weak Metal. And under the Five Elements concept: Metal supports Water. Thus in this first part of the equation, a water feature is acceptable, here. However, since #7 is a weak metal, it does not have the strength to draw out more of the ill effects of #2. If one understands the productive cycle of the Five Elements: Earth - Or the addition of a set of 6 coins thrown into the water feature. #6 represents Strong Metal. 2. The bad news:- When one stands inside the home looking outwards, a water feature to the right side of the home could encourage illicit affairs / or roving eyes = Flower of romance. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Sophia Part II - Guidelines on a good partition design:- 1. AVOID CIRCULAR DESIGNS ON THE PARTITION Where possible, the partition should not have circular designs on it. Or a circular fish tank built into it. Under symbolism in Feng Shui, a circle represents the pot-hole of a ship. For example, opening it could be symbolic of allowing water gushing into a ship sinking it. 2. AVOID THREE VERTICAL WOOD BEAMS It is best to avoid a partition that has three vertical beams. And even more inauspicious if light box are built into these wooden beams. This is because this symbolises THREE JOSS STICKs i.e. such as paying respect to the dead. 3. GOODFENG SHUI (RULER) DIMENSIONS Where possible, use the Feng Shui ruler to get an auspicious length and breath of the dimensions of the partition. The most auspicious dimensions are in the multiples of 43 cm or 17 inches times (x) a factor of 1, 2, 3 etc... Thus an auspicious length could be 34 inches etc... 4. AVOID REFLECTIVE GLASS FACING THE MAIN ENTRANCE If possible, the glass panels are sand blasted or matt facing the main entrance door. We do not want to open the main door and let wealth be reflected out of the home. 5. AVOID SLICING OR CUTTING INTO THE LIVING ROOM SOFA OR THE DINING TABLE Often, in the design of a partition, we forgot to note that by installing a partition, we could inadvertently have it become a cutting edge that slices into the dining area or table causing a "split". 6. VERTICAL BEAM DESIGN As mentioned above, three vertical beam design is considered inauspicious. And many like to avoid 2 pieces (separation or divorce) or 4 pieces (in Cantonese dialect - means die). Thus it is favourable to have 5, 6 or 8 pieces instead. 7. SOLID PARTITION? Is it true that the partition should be entirely "air-tight?". Well it is not necessary for a partition to be fully "air-tight". It can still have gaps to allow light source to flow thru the other side or can see thru to the other side. By having some gaps or to use glass or semi-glass panels, it is good to have light pass thru to the other side since, often, by not doing so, areas such as the main door can get extremely dark. Frankly, there are many other more guidelines, but for now, the above are what I can think off-for-the moment. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Sophia, 1. Dining table in full view of the Main Entrance door 1.1 Commonsense Approach to Feng Shui Under the commonsense approach to Feng Shui, it is always better not to have the dining table to be in direct full view of the main entrance. For the simple reason that for most people, the dining table could be a "depository" for lots of things such as a loaf of bread, cups, and food waiting to be consumed by various family members. Here, even if we have a small family, often, food is to be left over for one or the other family members coming back late from school or work. Thus, for some, the dining table can be "unsightly". In addition, if one leaves the door open and if one's apartment is at a corridor, neighbours could view our dining table food. Which often, is considered as "a privacy" issue. 2. Symbolism in Feng Shui It is particularly inauspicious to place "sharp objects" on a dining table. Simple daily use items like forks and butter knives can be considered as poison arrows. If one stands at the main entrance and can see them. This often results in quarrels and disharmony in the family. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Sophia, Often, the colour scheme of the toilet is a non-issue. Based on commonsense approach, it is good to see how well "lit" the toilets are. Many toilets have small ventilation windows and most are quite "dark" either because they are close to the centrepoint or does not have much direct sunlight most of the time. Given this, *commensense* approach that the toilet should preferably have lighter coloured tiles especially if there are elderly in the home. More important considerations is the location of the toilet. In particular, it is best to avoid the centrepoint of the home. As the toilet has the water element and wrong locations may not be favourable for wealth retention for a home. For the toilet, what you had mentioned below i.e. Eight house mapping over the house is not a major issue as compared to coinciding it with the Flying Star Feng Shui. For example, under Flying Star Feng Shui sectors that have mountain stars #8 or #9 (#8 = current prosperity) and (#9 = future prosperity) should preferably not be "DROWNED" by water especially a toilet position at these critical (possible wealth enhancement sectors). Mountain #8 and #9 being the mountain positions should NOT fall into water - which is far more inauspicious than mapping it as one's eight house sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  7. Dear Anon, Hopefully, if the neighbour's ba gua mirror is quite a distance away, the further the better for your home. If it is not aimed at your balcony or if you have reflective glass e.g. tinted glass, it can act to reflect back the ba gua mirror if the choice is not to hang a mirror to counter the neighbour's. Frankly, not sure why the neighbour hung the ba gua mirror. Does many of your units in your block has sharp edges "cutting" the neighbour's units? Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Pam, 1. There are two types of Flying star charts: 1.1. Vertical Flying Star Charts 1.2. Horizontal Flying star charts 2. For those who have been using the free House number report under http://www.geomancy-online.com should understand that it uses the vertical flying star analysis to determine which floor or level is good or bad. Thus in the same block or unit, certain floors or storey are good while others may not be that favourable. 3. However, for the common 20 Year Flying star charts, it is a horizontal flying star chart. Thus, even if the mountain stars arelocated at NE and W: check to see whether the mountain star(s) can be activated in the garden. For example, outside of the home garden, create a mountain landscaping. If so, the sum-of-ten can still be effected, here. Thus, sum-of-ten can still be effective. Please see below:-
  9. Dear Hock Chuan, Yes, for many of us, firstly we do not have an individual room to work in. And many of us work in an open office concept with system furniture. Because of this, there are restrictions as to where we can or even want to sit. It is good that you can sit facing a good direction. Yes, because of other constraints such as colleagues sitting with their backs againsts us etc... We don't really have much control over this. More importantly, since we cannot really truly change our earth luck, we should therefore look into the human or man luck aspects like feeling confident and good team /work plus networking etc... to offset some of these issues. This is like drawing a parallel with the homes which we live in. Some of usmay not have homes that have fantastic Feng Shui. But some of us are "blessed" with good human luck e.g. good family bonding and relationships. There are many cases where some have "lousy" Feng Shui, so what, but they have an excellent family support. This family togetherness can transcend even the "lousy" Feng Shui luck! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Hoa Luong, Please see below:- For example:- - water in the water fall is = water element - do try to add some plants inside or out of the water feature = wood element - fire element can be in the form of lighting (turned on automatically with a timer at specific time e.g. 7.30pm to say 10pm. (or fishes with red colours also account for the fire element). - metal can be in the form of fishes e.g. koi etc...
  11. Dear Anon, 1. Since your home isWest 253 it is consideredunder Flying star Feng Shui as West 1 facing. 2. For many homes; it is always goodfor a Period 6 to analyse the variousFlying star chartsof Period 7 and also Period 8. Given that Period 7 is over; yourhome is best evaluated on thebasis of:- 3. Period 6 vsPeriod 8 Is Period 8 better than Period 6? Or is it better to try to remain as Period 8. For a West 1, home based on both Period 7 and Period 8; the Flying star charts are not too good. Thus, in general, it is still preferred to seriously consider boosting the earth luck based on a Period 6 chart. If your wealth star is locked in the centre, it is difficult to enhance the current prosperity wealth. Since #9 is with #5 and #5, this can be quite explosive or lead to loss of wealth. Since #9 is the future prosperity (fire element). If the breadwinner is a weak fire person, then one consideration is to introduce wood element to this sector. Here, under the destructive cycle, wood destroys earth (#5 x2). A combination of metal, water and wood at this sector can create a productive three-cycle flow of Metal -
  12. Dear Anon, Actually, you can make full use of the free reports available at: http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate the various free reports for the best bed-head placement and also the best sitting directions for your work-office. In addition, you can review how to plot the Eight House chart, here:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-house1.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Peggy, It is always best to remove the old ba gua (pa kua) mirror between 8am to 12pm but before 3pm. Just get a set of "old" clean newspaper and simply remove the old mirror and immediately transfer it to this old newspaper. Wrap it up and either use a string e.g. red string or white also can. In modern times, scotch-tape can do also. And simply, afterwards, throw it away in the rubbish bin or chute. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Anon, Frankly, there is really no harm leaving it until after the 22 February 2005 -- anytime after the last day of CNY. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, Please refer to my previous posting on the same subject of lion dance. In the past, the traditional lion dance was performed on the last day of lunar celebrations i.e. 15 Lunar day i.e. since CNY officially starts on 8 February 2005 this year; then 22 February 2005 is suppose to be the last day and lion dance performance. However, in modern times, and for practical purposes in my opinion, it is particularly good or meaningful to usher in the lunar new year especially on or before the 15th day of celebrations. This is to allow for the troupe to be able to perform at your home. If one lives in a landed property, the challenge is to hang a lettuce vegetable with the hong bao in it and place it high e.g. hang out of the balcony. The challenge is to get the lion to climb up and devour the lettuce and ang bao (hong bao). *Joke* but of course for such a stunt, one cannot expect to place a $50 red packet as this considered too little! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Sophia, The primary consideration in a kitchen is the placement of the stove. It should typically be oriented in a direction that is convenient for the spouse or the woman of the household. Regarding the kitchen sink, this is generally not a significant concern, and it is permissible for it to be positioned as you have indicated. Therefore, it is not essential to keep the toilet door closed even when it is not in use. You are correct in stating that excessive partitions or screens should be avoided in the home. Improperly placed partitions can disrupt the flow of the home, akin to a knife cutting through its various areas. For residents of the Rosewood condominium (Woodlands), please be aware of the following: Since the kitchen door is adjacent to the main entrance: Position yourself at the main entrance and look towards the kitchen. Frequently, many family members neglect to close the kitchen door. As a result, various utensils, particularly forks and knives, may be visible from the main entrance. If this is the case, it is advisable to remove them, as their visibility can lead to frequent disputes among family members.
  17. Dear Kee Foong, The best place is the living room area facing the sofa set, the entrance areaor on the dining hall wall. Avoid placing it on the same wall as the toilet. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Anon, Don't be unduly concerned over the #5 so long as avoid bright yellow colours such as for the curtains and bedsheets. In addition, also try to avoid bright red colours. This is because #5 represents strong metal. And under the productive cycle of the five elements concept: Fire inflames or fuels Earth. This try to avoid Fire element (red, purple or pink) and Earth (particularly bright yellow colours). Since the bedroom is in blue - this is favourable, metal element such as white can be introduced into the room. Together with this, you can still keep the 6coins in this bedroom. Yes, you can introduce the 6 coins towards the main entrance. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Paris, Under the Five elements concept, it is even better if we understand whether we are either : Strong wood or a weak wood person. In general, without taking into consideration strong or weak:- 1. Careers associated with wealth for a wood person is earth element careers. 2. Careers associated with power and authority for a wood person are metal careers. Since you are a wood person, wood careers are generally acceptable (although they are not classified under either serial no. 1 to 2 above) i.e. a wood career is favourableespecially to a weakwood person. In real life, do go for what one personally feel like going into. This is because of the Holy trinity of Luck:- Heaven Luck = what we are born with Earth Luck = Feng Shui of home /office Human Luck = this is where are feelings and choice and commitment to what we want or our aims are. Do what one feels happy to go into. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Melissa, Firstly, this procedure is not meant for a large office where the walls are entirely of glass. As one of the procedures is to cover the entire office to pitch-black. Secondly, these are quite standard procedures:- Select an auspicious date & time for the Office Warming Day. 1 On this day, make sure that all windows, ventilation must be covered up - usually with black paper or cloth. So that when one enters the room, it should be in total darkness. 2 Hang a red banner across the banner of the business. 3 During this time, all electricty to the unit should be off. No equipment is to be turned on. 4 Before the auspicious time, the owner or manager would have to light up a charcoal stove. 5 Next, once the stove has been lighted up, the owner place it a few feet away from the main entrance door i.e. in the middle. And he raises his left foot then right foot and removes the red banner and opens the door. If he has staff, then all the staff do the same.. ie. raise their left foot over right foot and walk into the office. 6 Get help to peel off all the coverings to windows to allow light to come in. And then switch on the lighting in the room and all electrical devices there. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Anon, To Chinese, the red banner symbolises good luck. Actually, the best "counter" is (for the Chinese) is also hang a similar red banner on your front door. There is no religious implication especially if it is a plain read cloth (no issue with the elaborate tassle). Ideally, both parties hanging it - will equate to "square-one". Under the destructive cycle of the Five elements concept: the most effective element to control fire is water e.g. blue, black or grey. But it would be inauspiciousto haveespecially black coloured e.g. carpet matetc.... But blue carpet can be considered. Under the productive cycle of the Five elements another element that can help draw or diminish Fire element is the earth element such as : Yellow, cream or beige (especially Yellow) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Further to what I had mentioned, the key to understanding "LUCK" in Geomancy is the Holy Trinity of Luck: Here: 1. Heaven Luck (day we were born) - what we are suppose to be born with. 2. Earth Luck or Home or office Feng Shui. 3. Human (Man) Luck 1. HEAVEN LUCK Some people are born with a silver spoon thus, we say that they have a very good Heaven Luck (or excellent Ba zi) 2. EARTH LUCK Others gain significantly from a good or excellent home. Many of these homes have a "quantum leap" in Feng Shui. And money literally pour in because of the good Feng Shui coming from their earth homes (earth luck). 3. BOTH generally can be considered as "Money falling out of the sky to these luck people" Many people consult Geomancers is to try to help improve their earth luck. 4. A SALOON CAR OR AN MPV? Can we improve our earth luck? YES / NO? We can draw a parallel of our homes to a specific car or model. For example, if our house or apartment is not so fantastic i.e. our home is equal to a 9 year old 1,000 cc car. We all know that no matter how, even if there is a miracle, a 1,000 cc car cannot or can-NEVER turn into a Porche or Rolls Royce or even a Mercedes benz 2,000 cc car. In addition, imagine, we have a family of 7 members. And if our car is only a normal saloon car. It is not possible for us to squeeze all family members into this small saloon car. Other than to tie one member onto the roof, place another into the boot and tie another member to the front of the bonnet. If we have 7 family members, than we should consider purchasingsay a 7 sitterMPV like Toyota Picnic or Mitsubishi Grandeur etc... 3. HUMAN OR MAN LUCK Actually, this luck is "FREE". What is most important here is good family bonding and relationships. A good family relationship can transcend any plight or issues. Sometimes, even if a home does not have good or fantastic Feng Shui, a good family unit or bonding can infact rise up the luck of these people. For example, many people need not be filthy rich but they are rich in their hearts and minds. In fact, filthy rich people have their own unhappiness. Thus the saying " MONEY CANNOT BUY HAPPINESS". 4. ABUSE OF THE HUMAN LUCK FACTOR Many people understand that they can try to induce a feeling of getting others to buy products. And because of the commercialisation of Feng Shui, many of these people ended up, trying to squeeze as much money or hard earned money from all of us. Thus, these people give "hope" or rather "false hope" to many people to buy products, enrich the sellers pockets and buring a large hole in ours. And this category of so called "Human Luck" in my opinion, can be considered as ONE of the most important ILL's since 1980's to the unknowing.. enticing them to buy these useless products. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Anthony, 1. The basis of so-called Feng Shui website selling products is simple: Feng Shui has become too comercialised. 2. Unfortunately, to the consumer, we end up paying so much for products in the name-sake of "Feng Shui". 3. The clue here is that many sites or owners of these sites decided to sell such products because of the huge / exhorbitant profits that can be made of the "lay person" or anyone guillible enough to buy them. 4. For example: a three-legged toad figurine can easily be made in China for less than US$20 dollars. But, is sold in the market for as much as US$288 to as much as US$588 dollars. 5. Thus, 7 years back, I coined issues like this as " CREDIT CARD FENG SHUI". 6. Many people are already in debt e.g. roll-over credit on their credit card but yet; they got "conned" into buying these products. 7. And in-fact, a few years back, there was this posting on the internet from a very unhappy ex-husband. Who had no choice but to divorce his wife because she (quietly without his knowledge) spent all her savings buying or (got conned) into buying "Feng Shui products". 8. If a Feng Shui product is that good. Then how come it does not come with a guarantee card. For example: The purchaser of ABC's God of Fortune would be guaranteed that within 6 weeks of purchasing it, will be guaranteed a winfall else, you can return it to the shop and get both a refund and interest rebate. Did any of these shops do this? YES/NO? 9. In my opinion, these people (who sell such products) don't pity those in distress. They not only do not help them, but in-fact, lead them into greater debt! The seller continues to become wealthly at our expense! (FULL STOP). 10. If one evaluate many Feng Shui sites or authors, one may perhaps realise that when they started off, most likely (in my opinion) they are geniune in providing a service. But selling products is like a strong magnet; and these people (I believe) find it more fruitful to make huge profits. 11. Just take a look at all the product offerings. And one can realise that profit margins are huge in the name-sake of "Feng Shui". 12. In the next installment, I will explain why products should be treated more as a decorative item much like any other decorations. 13. Imagine this, prior to commercialisation of Feng Shui, very few people (unless they are crazy enough) to endow their homes with silly decorative items like God of Wealth, Chi-lin etc... 14. In fact, many rich people other than finding a good home site, did little to place such things as figurines etc... in their homes. Only the silly fools are enticed into it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. When applying the Compass School of Feng Shui or taking reference of each direction; one should locate the center-of-gravity of the home. From this centrepoint, locate the west compass direction (270 degrees). This will be the direction of The Grand Duke/Tai Sui of a site or home. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Pam, Since the Chinese use the lunar calendar to find out the year, CNY this year only begins on 8 Feb 2005. Thus, the year flying star chart should normally start around this time instead of 1.1.2005. Warmest Regards, Cecil
