Dear Anon, In a past article in this website; I have mentioned that there was a study in Germany. Where it was reported that there were higher incidences of cancer for those who place their bed above a sewerage pipe. In your case, hopefully, the toilet bowl shares another wall (other than with your bed head). If so, so long as the toilet bowl does not share the same wall as your bed-head this is often fine. Just try to avoid having the toilet bowl (pipes) on the same wall as your bed-head. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: I have a wallbetween my bedroom and bathroom. The toliet is placed behind that wall. If I put my bed against that wall, would toliet affect/flush out my energies while sleeping?

Dear Anon, In general, you have mentioned that your interior of your apartment has been changed to a Period 8 apartment. But your exterior is still considered a Period 7 block. Ideally, of course that the exterior of the building gets a good new coat of paint. And often, many blocks should have been painted by the 5th or 6th or at least the 7th year that it is in. If so, there is no issue since your home (block and apartment) have at least a new coat of paint). The other senario is to do a proper Flying Star chart. As flying star chart looks at the frontage: it is good that also often, the home should not be stuffy and if possible, the whole home should be well ventilated. This is to encourage qi into the home. Goodness me! Your other questions are more like asking me to do a full Feng Shui audit by listing out each sectors stars. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Every home (landed property) and apartments (condos / apartment / flat) have their distinctive Feng Shui. So in terms of Feng Shui for a condo: The Centris; if we consider an individual unit vs other units, then there are always some units that may have superior Feng Shui vs other units. Thus, a recent post asking how is the Raintree condo, again, usually in each plot of land there are invariably good or not so favourable units. As mentioned previously, all homes may or may not be affected by the "hot" afternoon sun; Your question relates more to the "marketability" and whether your unit can become an asset or end up as a loss. Thus in terms of good marketability, as you had mentioned, factors like The Centris is located next /close to MRT and shopping mall usually can be a plus especially for those who do not own a car. In the past, 99 leasehold condos were sold at crazy prices e.g. $600 p.s.f. or more. And nowadays, these property prices have almost halfed! For example, the Regent View, Buangkok Green condo have seen their prices fallen at least 1/3 to nearly half of what they were purchased for! In addition, homes that are bathed by afternoon sun are equally not ideal. Especially if the walls have been soaked with afternoon heat and many of these rooms are either the master bedroom, children's bedroom and or the living room. For new condo developments, often, we cannot, yet see what we buy. So, the most crucial piece of "paper" to scrutinise is the site plan! Study, study, study the site plan very closely. Look at where the afternoon sun comes in. And if there are other blocks nearby, how high are they and do imagine how far the sun can come into the home. In addition, look for any "sharp edges" of other blocks/units pointed at the prospective unit that one is considering buying. As well as looking into the various interior layout plans. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: How about the new condo project, The Centris, to be located in Boon Lay? Is this location considered good since it has so many amenities nearby?

Products are often "Bull-shit" 1. For many of us, if we look back to our grandparents "time" or even "parents" time, there were no such thing as "crystals" or many of the newly invented objects or items "in-the-name" of Feng Shui. Thus most of these products, aim to extra money from our pockets ... and as a result line the pocket of the sellers. 2. Many of these products do not come with a guarantee card that; for example, after purchasing it e.g. the three-legged-toad; one would instantly win a lottery etc... Far from it. The seller got it made in China for a few Chinese Yuan money and sell them at high mark-ups! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ruchi, Authentic Feng Shui is based on the two major schools: 1. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui 2. Compass School Feng Shui And many of us should be aware that under Compass School Feng Shui; there areonly two sub-sections: a. Flying Star Feng Shui b. Eight Mansions / Eight House / Ba Cai / 4 Good/Bad Directions Thus Eight Mansions, comes under so many names. Therefore, the clue, here is that one should rightfully apply both the Flying Star Feng Shui and Eight Mansions. Since both arethe key cornerstones of Compass School Feng Shui. What you have mentioned relations to the Eight Aspirations (Life Associations)vs Eight Mansions (Eight House). The Eight Aspirations or Life Assocations concept is VERY VERY popular in the West. This is where the fixed ba gua method has been derived i.e. Black Hat Sect and many "kindergarden" type of Feng Shui practitioners. Thus, as you had mentioned North = career, SW = romance sector etc... Such fixed template models are firstly too general to be of use. Many people, even Tom, Dick or Harry can easily start a book on this topic, easily! Even a teenager can write such a book. Often such books start with:- Chapter 1 : North = Your career sector Chapter 2 : SW = Your romance sector In fact, with much imagination, one can easily write such a book within a month or so. Frankly, I don't need to go on for you to figure out the ease of writing and publishing such books. And another more important point is that thanks to this type of "Feng Shui" it has made many who sell products "dirt" rich or very rich! In fact, many people prefer to sell products because; firstly they are often cheaply made but "in the name " of Feng Shui, sold at very high mark-up! So, these people, would sell us all sorts of products to suit this Eight Aspirations concept... from turtle figurines to other products! Dear Linda, 1. When using a compass, one has to be exact and plot the exact compass direction into one of the 15 degrees of the Flying Star chart. 2. Often, we may have to take readings out-side of the home to avoid any metallic disturbance e.g. high tensile steel embedded in the concrete structure of the home. 3. Sorry, I don't quite understand your question. "the Compass shows as SE but only over 10 degrees to SE do you consider it as SE or South " 4. As mentioned under Para 1 and 2, above, for SE facing homes: SE1 = 112.5 degrees to 127.4 degrees (120 degrees) SE2 = 127.5 degrees to 142.4 degrees (135 degrees) SE3 = 142.5 degrees to 157.4 degrees (150 degrees) 5. Thus, if you have taken a proper reading your compass will fall into one of the above SE1, SE2 or SE3 sectors. 6. Another method, that I like to highlight to all users is that if you do own a Street-directory of your area / city or country, you can always find the exact compass direction. This is because, most or all street directory maps would always have the "top" as North. 7. For example, please click the attachment. I have provided a sample address e.g. Block 10 Haig Road, Singapore. (Source & Credit has been clearly acknowledged under the attachment) 8. Try to invest in a protractor and see the sample attachment on how I have determined the "facing" direction of this apartment as 340 degrees. 9. For the staircase turning the last three steps, this is very common even in Singapore! Some owners have built a partition wall to "shield" the sight of the staircase. 10. Traditionally, the breadwinner is often the "male" breadwinner even if both partners contribute equally. But if the male is a homemaker, then in modern times; the lady becomes the breadwinner. Thus we have to see each case or situation as not all cases are identical. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Linda Branton wrote: Dear Master, I am enjoy reading you replied to other from your website. I have few questions and hope that you could please help me clear them. 1.When stand infront of the main door and the Compass shows as SE but only over 10 degrees to SE do you consider it as SE or South (because each flying star is 45 degrees)? Also, how many degree should it be counted for another sector? 2.If the staircase face the front door but the last 3 steps turn over to the living is that still a bad staircase and should not buy house with this location? 3.The breadwinner is the husband or can it be the wife too? Thank you very much for you advise Master. I am truely appreciated it. Kind Regards, Linda

Dear Sophia, The Flying Star concept is very simple: 1. water stars, as the name suggests should be activated in clear space environment. While 2. mountain stars, is best activated in an enclosed environment or "blocked" by a mountain. However, when we talk of the above, we are "anticipating" or have a view that what we are trying to activate are good stars like for water stars: #1 and #8. While for mountain stars e.g. #8 and / or #9 etc... Therefore, for "bad stars" like #5 and #2; it will make sense to say that: bad water stars should be "locked" up while bad mountain stars should be open space or literally placed in a "hole" to drown it! Thus, what you had mentioned or referred to is perfectly correct. However, we all live in a "not-so-perfect" world. For example, how often are we able to control the construction of our individual homes? It is not like we can start from scratch to develop a new home! Thus, it is so simple to say "lock up" bad water stars while "clear space" for bad mountain stars! Many of us either buy a re-sale home or an apartment developed without major considerations of this. Therefore, what you mentioned is "nice-to-have" but in reality; if we do not have control of how we are going to build a home; the statements are often "utopian" in nature "sounds good on paper most of the time!" Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Sophia Chia wrote: I readone off the book that saidto avoid stars 2 and 5 as they symbolise trouble, mishap or sickness. It is important not to place a key personnel in locations with the stars 2 or 5 or both. As mountain stars can only take effect if enclosed in a room and water stars are activated only if placed in open area. One can avoid the ill effects 2 and 5 by enclosing the water stars 2 and 5 in a room and placing the mountain stars 2 and 5 in open space.

Dear Pei Yi, Frankly there is no right or wrong answers. Often. it is the way we argue the case. For example, athletic games or competitive games is about growth or development of the specific skills e.g running faster etc In this case can be considered as wood element. Wood element is about growth, progress and constant training. Alternatively, we can also look at it in terms of the "industry" it belongs to. For example sea sports may be considered as water element. Or the fluid movement such as gymnastics can be considered as water element. Dear Lawerence, Please click this link for reference on the Five Elements Concept:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm If you look carefully, there are two different diagrams:- a. Productive Cycle As you are considered as a Strong Fire person, therefore; your best "harmonious" elements are: Since you are already a STRONG fire person, it would do "injustice" if you add Wood to further inflame your fire element. Thus under the Productive cycle, as a strong fire person, you should look three steps forward i.e. Earth (Yellow, cream or beige) Metal (White or gold) Water (Blue, black or grey) I believe, at this stage you should be comfortable with what I am saying. b. Destructive Cycle Frankly, this term destructive cycle is very misleading. Actually, if one looks at it from a correct perspective. When we "productively" destroy something, we actually "create wealth". For example, please refer again to the Destructive cycle chart:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm If a person is a Strong Metal person; and under the destructive cycle; metal is suppose to "destroy" wood to create wealth. For example, let's say you buy a block of wood. If you have (skills = Strong "skills") one can carve out an object of art from say a $4 piece of wood. Thus, imagine, your wood carving now becomes a piece of art. And definitely, it should be worth much more than $4! (assuming that you are a good scupture). As a Strong Fire person, under the destructive cycle, you will note that Fire is suppose to "destroy" metal. In the productive sense, what this means is that imagine, you have a lump of platinum or gold. When you use your FIRE or heat to heat and mould this piece of metal, it would become "useful". Hope you can now understand why as a strong fire person, your wealth element is metal. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Lawrence Lim wrote: Hi Master, I've generated some fo the free reports over the geomancy.net website and must say that they're really very helpful. Thanks for having such a great site!! By the way, just need to clarify some info. For e.g. I'm a strong fire person, so my favourable elements are water and earth (hope i didn't remember wrongly). I then chanced upon a posting on the forum that says for a strong fire person, the wealth element is metal. So I'm wondering, how does this all add-up? Cos since metal isn't a favourable element to me, how does it then improve my wealth? e.g. if I try to deck myself with lots of metal element things, won't that affect my overall luck cos it isn't one of mymore favourable elements?

Dear Anon, 1. There are two "angles" to look at the case where often, from the master-bedroom, we may see the toilet (toilet bowl). 2. In many apartments; be it a condominium or an HDB (government housing development board apartment or flat); in fact all master bedrooms have a detached-toilet. In some instances, we do not get to see the toilet as it may be closer to the bedroom door. 3. As mentioned under Para 1; there are two ways of looking at the "issue" or non-issue with the toilet:- 4. From a Shapes and Form point of view 4a. As you have mentioned, some people may feel uncomfortable seeing the toilet (toilet bowl) from their master-bed. Frankly, there is not much choice, here. Other than to close the toilet door. Or some clients built a walk-in-wardrope and include the toilet within it. Thus, roughly it is like out-of-sight out-of-mind. 4b. What is it that make us feel that toilet qi is bad? 5. Many of us read Feng Shui books and all books will often say that the qi coming out of the toilet is "bad". 6. Realistically speaking; this is more of a "commonsense" than Feng Shui. 7. For example, in many of the past messages that I had posted on this subject; I had mentiond this situation: I was driving on the highway and on the radio, there was an interview with someone selling a product. 8. The person who was interviewed mentioned that whenever we flush our toilet bowl, "germs" e.g. e-coli and other germs would be deposited especially on our tooth-brush! And he "insists" that all of us should consider buying"his product"i.e. a dis-infection tablet to frequently clean our tooth-brush. Much like the dis-infection tablet or cleaning tablet for those using dentures! 9. Although, technically, he is correct. But, look at it this way.. many of us...from birth to adult life have always used a tooth brush. And had never really dis-infect our tooth brush on a regular basis! Furthermore, many use their tooth-brush close to 3 months or more! 10. Have we or majority of us... fall sick because of this?? 11. It is because of such a "commonsense" reason; that is why toilet is considered as having not good qi. 12. Imagine, if we cannot tolerate or have some resistance to "dirt" from our own toilet. Manyofpublic toilets are even more filthy or dirt then our toilet! 13. In this sample layout plan: The Coris(Singapore Housing Development Board flats); many of the layouts are similar - please see attachment. And if wecan imagine, the toiletcan be virtually facing the master bed! 14. We live a practical world! Andoften, toilets are literally "fixed" especially in apartments where they are joined together from 1st to higher floors.. so cannot be relocated. 15. From aFlying Star Feng Shui point of view: Hopefully, the toilet does not occupy a good sector e.g. current prosperity sectors #8etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: My brother's bedroom door is facing opposite the toilet door. Although its not facing exactly but about half of the toilet door is facing his room. In chinese, it is call "Lan Tao Hua". Is that true?

Dear Andy, Generally, you can opt for: First Choice:- A. Metal (white / gold or silver) with Water (blue, black or grey) combination. Second Choice:- B. Metal (white / gold or silver) with Water (blue, black or grey) with Wood (Green or brown) Where: (Metal = circle, water = wavy or wood = tall and thin) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, It is worthwhile for you to get professional Feng Shui consultation in your country especially since your huband's health is poor. Frankly, your questions are piecemeal and without relevance to proper Feng Shui diagnostic tools like Flying Star Feng Shui. Thus things like bamboo tree (real or fake) can be a double edged sword. As some sectors may not be suitable for such a cluster of plants. In addition, I do not have a clear picture of the exact size of the new building and whether it "cuts thru" the main door, windows or what is the distance etc... Dear Ann J, More importantly, you have to determine what material the beam is made of. If the beam is made of wood, then based on the destructive cycle of the Five Elements concept: metal destroys or neutralises wood and seven represents = metal element (weak metal) and silver represents metal element. Thus, if the beam is made of wood, then SYMBOLICALLY, it is sound to have the 7 "silver stars". Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: ann j wrote: This wonderful siteoffers tremendous knowledge on fengshui. Please answer my query,The main door of my apartment has staircase opposite itat distance of 2ft-3ft. Dear Samsiah, Usually, to analyse the entire apartment complex then, it would probably have to be the front door (facing the neighbour's front gate). But if you are trying to analyse your apartment, then; for high floors or high storeys 8th storey and above, then it is often the frontage of the apartment or often the living room area or the facing direction where you have the most windows and/or balcony. If your apartment is often 7th storey and below, then often, it should be the main entrance to your unit. As the rest of your question seems more like doing a full audit, sorry this forum is about clarifications or a catalyst to your understanding of how to. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Samsiah klomp wrote: we just bought an apartment and we have a probably with the front door. It is facing the neighbours front gate. We have to enter the gate which is SE facing and facing the neighbour's front gate and then turn left to our main door which is facing north east but facing the back door (we have to take 3 flights of stairs up to reach the backdoor.) So what is the general orientation of the house in this case?

Dear Anon, If we strictly consider based on Chinese Astrology, the Rat is considered diagrammatically opposite the Horse. As such they are suppose to be one of the worst pairings in the Chinese Astrology (zodiac) signs. Reference: http://www.lovesigns.net However, phew! 50 years old? Go get a life, and since life at 50 is "really, really short"; why not.. even cannot MUST make it POSSIBLE! We can understand if one is 18 to 30 years. May be head-strong, stubborn or combative. But at 50 years old? Gosh! One should hopefully have mellowed down! And be more understanding! With regards to both the Chinese as well as Western zodiac signs: You see, many of us often read our own signs (zodiac sign) and often, (by auto-suggestion) by what we read, act some of the part of the characteristics of that sign. But for animals, there is less probability of auto-suggestion. Thus, the more we read the zodiac signs, some of us, act that part or unconsciously act that part of our zodiac sign! Dear Lawerence, Yes, your observations are correct. This is because, especially in a home, the location that has both water and fire element is the kitchen area. And there are many considerations, when water and fire is close-by! For example: 1. Compass School Feng Shui Many practitioners who apply the Compass School of Feng Shui is very much concerned with "Fire at Heaven's" gate. And under this concept, it is very bad luck to have the stove placed at this specific location e.g. NW sector of the home. And when analysing Flying Star numbers, some combination of Flying Stars may be very bad for stove placement. For example, the location that may have MS#9 with WS#6 and Base#3. 2. Based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui Where you correctly mentioned if possible, some locations should not have the stove directly facing the wash basin or water position. In fact, there are lots, lots more considerations. What I had mentioned is just the "tip" of the ice-berg! 3. Commonsense Approach to Feng Shui We should also not discount this area. This is because much of Feng Shui has to do with commonsense. And because of commonsense - good or bad, somehow some Feng Shui concepts are derived. For example, a stove should be placed against a solid wall. Not not have it's back facing a window. For example, imagine if the stove has it's back with the window. And if there should be a strong gust of wind and if the windows are louvered, wind may inadvertly allow the fire to burn one's clothing. Or if a child happens to be in the path, his/her eyes or hair may be scorched. If we live in a double-storey home e.g. bungalow, terrace etc... often we hear that it is not favourable to have a bedroom immediately above the kitchen. Again this is commonsense. As often, or there is a higher probability that fire starts from the kitchen then other parts of the home. Some "silly" Feng Shui master may asks the owner to place some "lucky" charms e.g. hang a set of six coins in the bedroom. But, in modern times. it would make more sense to invest in a fire alarm or smoke detector(s). Here, if there is really a fire, the smoke detector(s) or sprinkers can help us. What's the use of hanging a set of six coins... as it can easily melt! Here, dead persons, tell no tales! Warmest Regards, Cecil Lawrence Lim wrote: Hi Master, may I enquire whether the location of the stove in the kitchen will affect the careers of those staying in the house? e.g. cannot place it in the north of kitchen, etc? (am just giving an example, dunnoifsuch things exist). I understand the fire and water elements should not be beside each other, but does it mean that once you ensure these won't clash, your career will be ok?

Dear Sophia, Side-track: This home would be "perfect" for a Master Chef! Usually, in Feng Shui, the size of living room vs bedrooms etc... often denotes the characteristics of the owners. For example, a home with very large living room vs small bedrooms implies that the owners are "adventurous" or in business, big risk takers. Generally, other than egos or suppose "traits" of owners, there are no major concerns, other than "feel good" or "feel bad" type of situations. As you had mentioned, one can still compartmentalise the kitchen commonly into two: dry and wet kitchens if possible. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ruchi, Oops! I am afraid, what you had mentioned and commonly practised by many western "Feng Shui" practitioners e.g. the "Fixed Bagua" method, where one super-impose a bagua with different associations attached to it is simply NOT practised by Traditional Chinese Feng Shui practitioner. Thus, what you mentioned is simply a modern invention originated by the "Black Hat Tantric" sect. Traditional Feng Shui practitioners share these common traits:- a. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui b. Compass School (Eight House and Flying Star) c. Understanding and application of the Five Elements Concept Generally, although some Traditional Feng Shui schools differ in methodology or application, all share AT LEAST the above three common traits. Dear Anon, Sorry to learn about it. Try to relax Frankly, it is difficult for me to give you proper advise as there are limited information in-order to do a detailed study to minimize any issues relating to Feng Shui. Dear Vicky, Gua or Kua is based on Ba Chai or Eight House or 4 good / 4 bad directions. Dear Anon, There are two considerations: Overall, the plot of land has good shapes and forms Feng Shui. As we are now under Period 8; it is always prudent like all Feng Shui assessments to look at or study the Feng Shui qi of Period 7 vs Period 8 for the specific unit in a development. Some homes or aparatment(s) can benefit with a change in qi. While others may have to consider or dwell deeper into each sector to check to see whether it is more beneifical or worse-off to fly to a new Period 8 chart. For example, because of the frontage of the home; on the surface, it is good to fly to Period 8. However, on closer study or scrutiny of the flying star charts, it was found that e.g. nasty stars such as #5 and #2 has flown into one or several bedrooms. Thus, could be a case of more $$$ wealth but poor health! Do remember that once we had "flown" a home or apartment tothe next period, we cannot time travel and reverse it back to a previous period. Thus while we can fly to Period 8. We cannot swimbackstroke and reverse a home to Period 7! Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: Hi I noted that your website has a good review report of The Tropica condominium.
