Isn't it possible that once the kitchen also falls at NW, this can also affect the Male breadwinner. Thus it is not logically to say that the kitchen only affects the female (head) of the house.

By Civil Defense = it is a requirement for all "emergency" stairs or exit stairs doors MUST be closed at all times. In case a unit is on fire and smoke gets into this stairwell.
