Not very common to encounter such a layout plan where the main door opens partially to a "wall" and roughly the other half towards an open space. 2. Many Feng Shui Masters would consider this poor Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. 3. Under the science of Feng Shui, it can be roughly explained by the flow of qi and vortex-imbalance:- 4. While some Feng Shui Masters would crudely say that one should not enter into the main door with part of it facing a wall and the other an opening. 5. A consolation is that is that the "half-wall" or red-line on the layout plan is roughly 3 metres away and not 1 to 2 metres away which then is really close. 6. What about a main door facing towards a full wall? 3-Bedroom Type (3) c / e 6.1. This is an additional example of a real dislike by a Conservative Feng Shui Master. Who only eats, sleep, repeat on the main door only. LOL 6.2. The advantage of such a layout plan is that there is no direct path from the main door towards an opening on the opposite side such as a balcony sliding panel. 6.2.1. Which in Feng Shui symbolises difficult to save money. 6.2.2. Thus, often with or without Feng Shui advice, some automatically add a partition between the main door and the opening on the opposite side, if any.

Case Study 1: Conservative Feng Shui Masters often wants to have nothing to do with and advice their clients to avoid a unit with a WC directly beside the main door! 1. Sample of 3-Bedroom Premium Type (3Y) d #03-34 to #17-34 2. In Singapore, Feng Shui Masters can be often be divided into two camps: a. The Conservatives and their mantra is " Main Door and nothing but the main door only". LOL b. The Modernists: "For High-rise units, often it is standing inside the living room looking outwards and/or the open areas with the most Yang Qi". 3. Good luck, if you encounter a Conservative Feng Shui Master (CFSM? Be it when getting advice on buying a unit and or when in the near future, a potential buyer brings one over to view your home. LOL 4. A CFSM will consider a WC beside the Main Door as a FATAL error. Much like the movie: "Fatal Attraction". 5. While The Modernists Feng Shui Master, will continue to also consider many factors during a house hunting session before making a holistic decision on the home:- 6. Sample of 3-Bedroom Premium Type (3Y) b1 #01-22 7. Okay, based on my personal experience, a CFSM will not raise an immediate red-flag (if any) on such a layout plan:- 7.1. Thus even if the stove is close to the main door, it is not perfect, but most CFSM would continue to happily survey this type of layout plan. 8. Case Study 11A: Type 1 - Potential Sha Qi from Sharp Corner of Stack 618 aimed towards stack 642 1. Sharp corner of stack 618 aimed towards 642 Case Study 11A: Type 2 - Sha Qi from neighbouring buildings 2. Sha qi from the sides of building aimed towards 652 (from 620) and 654 (from 618)..

Case Study 10A: Type 1 - Sha Qi from Sharp Corner of MSCP 1. This is where the potential sharp corner of the 7-storey Multi-storey car park (MSCP) is aimed towards stack #618. 2. Hopefully, it is aimed towards the wall and not an opening (window) of often #02-618 to around #07-618. Safer to get a unit higher than #08 or higher in case the height of the car park reaches #08 or even #09 storeys high of the block 963B. Case Study 10A: Type 2 - Sha Qi from the sidewalls of 7th Storey MSCP car park 3. Stack #616 (around 2nd to perhaps 7 or 8 storeys high) is affected by sha qi in the form of the 7-storey MSCP aligned as shown below in RED:- 4. Best to avoid purchasing similar type of unit - where possible.

1. Okay the cul de sac should not be an issue. 2. Since the road behind the house is buffered by another home, it should not be an issue. 2. This new photo shows clearly that indeed the plot is not rectangular. This is beyond the scope of the forum given that other Feng Shui tools are needed to check whether the position of the swimming pool etc.. vs the Period the house was "born in".

Case Study 9A: Pronounced Drop-Off-Point (DOP) and possible Sha Qi towards Block 965A Stacks #688 and #690 1. From examples of other HDB estates, often the roof-line of such a pronouced semi-circular DOP may slice towards units #02-688 and #02-690. 2. Hard to cure given that seems to cover or slice-towards the entire openings of these two units: 3. If possible, avoid these two units. Given that one cannot simply "shield" the entire house's windows especially at areas like the living room area. 4. Sample illustration from an existing HDB BTO Estate in Fernvale:- 5. Units #02-702 and especially #02-716 most likely will be also affected by the DOP roof-line. Most likely #02-718 will not be affected by it:- 6. (Below) Units #02-616 and #02-618 are also affected by the distinctive roof-line of the DOP:- Case Study 9B: For 702, again it is a good thing to avoid #02-702 given that the DOP drive-way curves towards this stack also 7. Thus it is another reason to avoid #02-702:-

Case Study 8: Try to avoid low floors of stacks 604 and 606 due to the imbalance or sha qi from vehicles coming from Tampines Street 96 turning into the service road of the estate. 1. Where possible avoid especially #02-604 and #02-606. And even #03 if one can of these two stacks:-

Case Study 7A: Common sense and living close to a canal 1. As the topic title suggest, this has very much to do with common sense than Feng Shui. 2. Good news is that often, for at least 10 to 15 years, termite infestations is a non-issue for homes near to a constantly damp area. Such as the "shores" of a canal. 3. For example, St Michael's Estate and the spill over of termites which colonised further inland. In fact, at one time, there was a POSBank branch at Boon Keng which at that time housed safe deposit boxes. There were known cases of safe boxes infected by termites. (Today, the branch has been converted to it's parent name DBS). 4. As mentioned, it should most probably not occur in the early years of the estate. Case Study 7B: Especially Stacks/units facing the Bedok Canal will be influenced by the Water classics. 5. Given that stack 650's facing vs 666 vs 734 vs 726 vs 714 etc... are different, their wealth fates will be often be different.

Case Study 6: Compliments to the planners of this estate for avoiding the main entrance door of any units directly facing a long corridor. 1. Stack #698 is the only one that it's kitchen wall facing the long corridor. 2. Good news is that since it is not an opening, there is no issue, here. 3. In other estates, most likely 696 and/or 698's main door can be facing such a corridor. 3.1. Below: the blue dot is the actual location of stack 698's main door:-

The annual Chinese tradition of the Hungry Ghosts Month has nothing to do with the fear factor. Also referred to as the Seventh Lunar Month, which this year started last Wednesday (Aug 19) and which ends on Sept 16, it is a time when reverence for the departed is encouraged. According to fengshui master Mr Cecil Lee of Geomancy.Net, it is also a time to debunk myths and superstitions surrounding the spirit world. “The Chinese Ghost Month teaches two virtues - giving generously and expressing gratitude,” says Mr Lee who is in his 60s who has been advising clients on geomancy matters since 1996. “It is an occasion to offer food and incense papers to demonstrate generosity. In fact, these are the two main reasons that Buddhists consider the Seventh Lunar Month auspicious. It gives them an opportunity to offer prayers in honour of the dead.” Mr Lee says that according to Chinese traditions, the primary purpose of the Ghost Month is not to scare devotees but to impart a sense of giving and honouring the dead. “During this period, there is respect for the departed,” shares Mr Lee. “However, if one is anxious about leaving the home at night, it is advisable to be accompanied by a family member or friend.”

Case Study 8: Should I be concerned if my unit is beside a school? 1. Especially stacks 120 and 122 are the closest to the Christ Church Secondary School. 2. In fact, both stacks are not directly facing Christ Church Secondary School. 2.1. But at an angle, the residents can still see towards the school. Depending on the level, lower levels may look into the school buildings or field. 3. One can read more about similar concerns under this link:- 3.1. Case Study 7: Potential Poison Arrows or Sha Qi from roof-line of Precinct Pavilion and Drop-off-point (DOP) 1. Usually the roof-lines of especially that of the DOP other similar HDB flats aims into the window openings at Level 2. 2. Thus safest is to avoid units like #02-158, #02-160 and partial #02-162. 3. Sample illustrations from an existing estate at Fernvale, Sengkang: 4. The difference is that the sha qi will be a distance away and not as close as the above photos.
