  1. These are some of the considerations: 1. Based on the concept of the "most yang" qi; in my opinion; the facing direction should be standing at A looking out towards B. Here, even if we stand inside the living room or master bedroom looking out towards the window; the most probable facing direction is SOUTH. 2. In theory "light travels" in a straight line. Here, in the very broad sense; even if there is a large opening at "South-West" It does not mean that one should tilt the facing direction towards South-West. One of the reasons is that the facade where the most windows are (or = most yang qi) is still based on purple marking A looking out towards B. 3. From the two conflicting schools of thought; thus your facing direction can only be either/or:- 3.1. Standing at purple marking A looking out towards B = South facing or S2 facing direction. 3.2. From those very conservative or not too family with high rise Geomancer; they will always "quote" ancient Feng Shui books or concepts that say: one must stand inside the main door (Marking C) looking outwards D. 4. In my opinion; thus it is high chance that your apartment's facing direction is Flying Star South = S2 facing direction. This also follows the facade of the building. 5. In a landed property; often even if we say have a home that is facing South (S2) and even if we do tilt the main door to face South-west; this is considered temporary as it will ultimately revert back to South (S2).
  2. In my opinion, this seems unusual; if it occurs only in the night; most likely they are searching for food. Make sure that all your food especially fruits are out of their reach. If one has an altar full of fruits, then do look out or as you have done close all openings, 6/3/2011 7:04:56 AM, JasonQuek wrote:
  3. I find this article a great life learning experience! In accounting; this is called "zero base accounting" i.e. starting from scratch! This article is indeed a good guideline to life learning! Source: The Straits Times, 1 June 2011:- Pay for towels at this hotel: TUNE (Chain of) Hotels Tune Hotels has adopted a budge airline approach where guests pay extra for extras. "When we first started, people thought we were joking," said Mr Lankester, a former entertainment industry executive. "But we're not hoteliers, so we were prepared to try."
  4. "When the Buying STOPS! The Selling CAN!" This is a collation of more than over 80+caricatures that I had worked on throughout the existence of this forum:- Want to find out more? http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/FENG_SHUI_PRODUCTS or view this on our Facebook Album: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.107459366010872.15330.100002404263621&l=b7db4c5d2d
  5. 1. Look at it this way: all of us one day will perish: "ashes to ashes; dusts to dusts". 2. Thus in general; the majority of has to one day die of old age. If so, there ain't no worries about things that a "dead" persons; furthermore; one's own flesh and blood living us things. 3. Of course, there are many instances for some; a loved one dying of old age in a home. And looking at it: left the home to their loved ones.. 4. For natural dead; and later cremation; cremation is neutral. And like many of us; do keep our late father's funeral photo (frame). Here, we keep it with respect in a proper cupboard and not "chuck" it away. 5. Besides this; the other factor is based on "psychology". 5.1 Some of us don't feel comfortable looking at items that belong to the "late" loved ones.. as it may remind the person of their "late" father. This is natural especially if the person has died very recently. 5.2 Some even have this "phobia" for many years. Thus, you; yourself have to be your own judge. And decide what is best for YOU: be it keeping one or more of the items or completely remove (them) from your home. It is your own calling. 6. As I said; there is nothing bad or harmful in keeping such things. Many a-times; it is in our minds. Again, you have to discuss with your immediate family (or if you are the boss of the home); do what you feel is right at this time. 7. I believe; there are (or may be some) who throw or give away some or all these items and later do regret not keeping some of the momentos......
  6. In general, other than "missing" windows in the sketch; the layout plan seems reasonable. Except for comments in the attachment.
  7. Raffles Place in the 1960's. In the 1960's a 1 level basement car-park was built underground below the square. The photo also shows the tallest building in South-East Asia in the 1930's. Another prominent building: the Merchantile Bank building that replaced the Union Bank building. Today, this Merchantile Bank building had been torn down.
  8. You wrote: "1. Can you tell me what it means from a feng shui apartment to have this type of floor plan, ie why we should close the bathroom door and what would happen if you don't. I'm concerned, but I don't want to be paranoid." Reply: There are two considerations: 1.1. Commonsense or Cow-sense Feng Shui and "First Impressions Count" 1.1.1 Here, just imagine when we step into the home; visually if the toilet door is not closed; then our "first impression" is to see thewash basin + themirror. 1.1.2 It is like the notion of asking someone not to place the dining table so close to the main entrance door. Again this is cow-sense. Some of us literally litter our dining table with lots of "rubbish" on it. And someone stepping into our home immediately gets to see this pile of "rubbish". Again it is more of the "first impressions count". 1.2. The will claim that a mirror facing the main door is no good. Again; there is this commonsense or cow-sense involved. Some of us come into a home and suddenly get to glimpse a shadow of a person in the mirror. 1.2. These are some of the "paranoid" I mentioned. Otherwise, what is there to be concerned about. 2. You said:"Also, I read that having a bathroom in the middle of the house is very bad. Would the bathroom in this floor plan be considered in the middle of the floor plan" Reply: I can safely say based on eye-ball method: "Do chop off my head if this layout's toilet is at the center-point of the home". 3. Since you can't change to Option A and B; then no issue; just close the toilet door when not in use. For those who want to make a few cents; can always place a table and a small coin box that says " 10 cents to enter toilet".. how's that!
  9. These are some considerations: 1. Please refer to attachment. 2. If based on the Original or existing layout plan; then close the toilet door when not in use. 3. You can refer to Options A orB as possible viable alternatives. (Subject to structural engineering approval or your country's building approval on such alternation(s) )
  10. 1. Many of us are led into the believe that we must classify an item into only one element else; it was felt that it will be totally wrong; if an item was classified into say: Metal-Earth element. Or rather the square peg in a round hole mentality. 2. Really, what is wrong with classifying an item into more than one element. 3. For simplicity; as you had mentioned; in GENERAL jewelry is classifed as metal element because in most instances; it is made up of some metal. For example standard wedding ring needs some metal to hold it together. Whether a gem is to be embedded or not is another story. 4. In many of the past forum messages; I had mentioned that today; an occupation can even contain several elements: 4.1. The industry one is in e.g. Banking (Metal) 4.2. And the core job one is in; say Marketing (Fire). 5. So what is wrong in saying that this person's career is: Metal-Fire combination.
  11. 1. I did a SEARCH using the TOP LEFT frame of this forum:- 2. Reference: http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=19&mid=3783&new= 2.1 For the Chinese, symbolism or phonetic sound of the name for bat in Mandarin is `Fu' or Luck. For this reason, the Chinese consider it lucky. 2.2 In many cases, you can see wood cravings on panels with Five bats. This symbol of five bats together signifies: health, long life, wealth, love of virtue and natural death. 3. What Does It Mean When A Bat Comes Into My House? 12. Further to what I had mentioned; 1. Always remember, a plot at a T-junction is at the mercy of "Commonsense" Feng Shui. 2. The test is: "Can a run-amok vehicle be able to slam into the property?" Yes or No? If Yes, then this is most likely as illustrated in the attachment a potential plot (in this case) a home facing a T-junction. 3. The assumption is that it is not a one-way street where traffic flows away from the T-junction. It also depends on which country one is in: a Right-Hand drive or Left-Hand drive.
  13. 1. The good news is BLOCK B is not at a T-junction. 2. In this attachment; you can see that the plot = PLOT X highlighed in YELLOW with a RED border is considered at a T-junction.
  14. I must truly apologise for the info that I am going to provide, below... For those who don't have a stomach to read the message; I strongly suggest; please skip this message! ACTUNG! You have been WARNED! These are some of the considerations:- 1. Frankly, no offence ... I just glanced what you had wrote and this immediately flashes into my mind: "A little knowledge is considered a dangerous thing!". 2. OK, let's assume that in this "tiny" world of Fung Sway; and there is this person who only eats and sleeps and swear only by the Eight House... erh... good luck to you! 3. Even in the Eight House and micro-management of the Eight House concept; there is such a thing as (take this link as a sample):- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Master_Bedroom:_Which_side_must_I_sleep_on 4. Besides this; one should try to map out or perceive which bedroom could/may/should the other 6 family members (could) be "slotted" into that home. Taking note: a completed home is not a perfect home. 5. Frankly, the house number interpretation in the bigger picture of Feng Shui (not hocus pocus Fung Sway) should be given less weightage. 6. Now the head-shaking part... hmmm... 6.1. again the "something.. something.. dangerous thing comes into mind" 6.2. Higher weightage has to go to: Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Next, even with Flying Star Feng Shui; from now to before 2023; although NW could be a suitable direction for the partner; but other than the afternoon sun consideration; SW and NE facing directions have higher ranking(s). 7. Honestly, what you had mentioned; again; no offence; is literally called "Fast Food Fung Sway"... GULP!
  15. These are further considerations: 1. The width of the main door. You mentioned that your current door is 3.5ft or 41 inches. Yes, this is very auspicious (Yang Feng Shui Ruler measurement). 2. Here do take note that for the living (Yang Feng Shui Ruler measurements) : the range exactly between 41 inches to 44 inches is great. 2.1. As the door frame of such a home normally is not 1 inches thick; thus may have to skip the part where both the door opening + door frame are overall auspicioius. 2.2 As the range of auspiciousness is between 41 inches to 43 inches. (Actually can still be 40 inches or 3.4ft but 3.4ft as an opening is less auspicious than 3.5ft). 3. As for the height; it would be good if the height is either 75 inches or 77 inches (or between 75 to 77 inches in height) where the optimium is 75 or 77 inches. Other than this height will be close to 7ft. The next best range is 83 inches to 85.5 inches. 3.1 Please take note that 78 inches to 82 inches is considered inauspicious. If not sure, refer to Para 3, above. 4. Further to the above; sometimes, there is a reason for keeping the existing main door "small". 4.1. A smaller door is less of a target "for an external threat". As opposed to large panels of see-thru sliding glass doors x2. 4.2. If the opening is large; make sure that it does not open directly towards the back of the home. For example, the bigger the opening; 4.3. As mentioned previously; can affect the eldest child being unable to get married.
  16. These are some of the considerations: 1. Contrary to whatever belief that one has; it does not mean that it is considered inauspicious to have main gates of "properties" be it one large or huge facing a puny or tiny next door building that may not be that large. 2. Don't ever be mistaken that this equate e.g. a BIG fat mouth trying to swallow a SMALLer piece of land or building. Nothing of this sort! 3. In fact, one plus point in such an arrangement is that there will be little or no likelyhood of the REAL threat such as a lone lamp-post or a sign post or even a tree trunk from the opposite side "sliding" towards one's main gate area. 4. Although shifting the main gate has certain advantages;if the main road or service road is narrow; having main gates not directly facing each other; here is a plus point, no doubt about it. 6. If you really want to change the main gate; then you should also follow the guideline, below. The guideline is universal and also applies to make sure that if one changes the main gate entrance area; it also does not get affected by external threats. http://www.geomancy.net/wiki/Poison_Arrows 7. Generally, if you love to move your main gate to the middle; one has to remember to check on the above concerns as well as how the flow traffic flow from the main road towards the interior property as well as "shapes and forms" with regards to where is the main entrance of the building. 8. Based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui; best that the main gate does not open directly towards themain entrance (office main walk-thru area) to the warehouse building. 9.1 As mentioned, if the main gate is opened all the time; the main entrance may be vulnerable to what could be facing it.. any form of poison arrow(s) be it again a tree trunk on the opposite side of the road or a lamp post or a street sign or even any other pointed roofts of the other neighbour. 10. Sometimes; one may/could/should think of this maxim "If it ain't broken, don't, fit it". 11. You can read up an example of how sometimes changing the main gate MAY affect the way rain-fall drains off the property of your building / site / land:- http://www.geomancy.net/wiki/Want_to_build_your_dream_home%3F 12. Again, in the above link, you will notice that it is an example of a landed property. And for each site; drainage out of the property at the wrong location may have dire consequences. 13. In conclusion: if the main gate has been shifted to the middle of the property; and even if there are no immediate threats today facing the new main gate; but what about the future? If suddenly a street lamp or signage comes up? Does it mean that one has to continously monitor the situation or one day simply forget to do so...? In such a situation; perhaps your "David's" main gate facing a "Goliath or King Kong's" main gate ain't that bad rite?
  17. These are further considerations: 1. By considering having sliding doors; the main concern is that since the doors are made of glass; it is "transparent". And could or may be exposed to any external threats (if any). 2. Prior to considering installing the sliding doors; try to make sure that when standing inside the home looking outwards; one should not be seeing any lone lamp post or tree trunk or even neighbour's triangular roof aimed towards the sliding doors area. 3. To understand more about or what is or not poison arrows in relation to what I had mentioned; you can review this information:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Poison_Arrows 4. The best is to look at the attached caricature showing how one should stand inside a house looking out for such threats..
  18. These are some considerations: 1. You did not mentioned whether your home is an apartment or a landed property. 2. However, from your message; one may/could/should deduce that you own a landed property. If so:- 2.1. Just imagine the full surface area of the frontage of the ground floor. If an opening is greater than 50 percent of the entire ground floor frontage; and assuming that it is opened all the time; and this area is equal to 50 percent of the entire frontage; then most likely the eldest child would not get married. 2.2. For example, if the frontage has a wooden door and sliding doors: and if one frequently opens any or combined total equal to or 50 percent of the entire frontage; then refer to Para 2.1. 3. Traditionally, it would be nice-to have a door at the frontage e.g. wooden door open INWARDS. and traditionally; at the back of the home; if there is a wooden door; this wooden door should open inwards. (If there is no wooden door at the back; and just a grille gate; then this remains neutral. But if there is a wooden door behind the house; it should open INWARDS also. 4. It is difinitely `Nice-to' have the wooden door open inwards have auspicious Feng Shui ruler measurements. 4.1. In fact, from the 1960's to 1979; all the main entrance doors of all government Housing Board Flats "coincidentally" follow the auspicious Feng Shui ruler dimensions. In fact, the opening and even the door frames register very auspicious measurements. In my opinion; because of religious issues and that Singapore is multi-racial; this fact is never widely made public. 5. As for glass door; still can have glass door or sliding doors without an actual wooden door that opens inwards. Majority of landed property homes can "sustain such" a consideration. And it is more difficult to apply the concept of the auspicious Feng Shui ruler dimensions to such sliding doors. 6. The only consideration of sliding door(s) is that often it is to the "side" of the home e.g. when one drives into the home; this area is most likely the windows; and the sliding doors are to the side of the home. In doing so; if one has a reasonable fencing e.g. brick wall etc.. it would be protected against such things as a lone lamp post or a tree truck "slicing" towards the glass area. 7. Wooden doors are different. It is not transparent and even if there is a poison arrow in the form of a tree trunk or a lamp post or a neigbhour's pointed roof; it is more of a safer bet against such poison arrow or sha qi.
  19. 1. Please refer to the attachedillustration. 2. Based on the Practical view on how to apply the hours in the Chinese system; 3. The rat hour will always be a rat hour distinct from the DAY module. 4. Thus, if one is born on 6th February between 2300HRS to 2359HRS; this is still the RAT hour. And 0000HRS to 0100HRS on 7th February is still the RAT hour except born on a different day. 5. The test of a system is to ask as many people what they think. Logically, most of us find this "practical view" more sensible than the extremist view. As I mentioned; look at the HOUR system as a separate MODULE from the DAY system. It is clearly illustrated in the attachment. 6. Of course, there are "extremists" out there who thinks otherwise. I am only trying to state the facts, here and it has more to do with commonsense.
  20. 1. Please note that the Chinese Hour is based on TWO hourly timings. 2. Thus, it is a "repetitive" model e.g. 11 to 1, 1 to 3, 3 to 5, 5 to 7,7 to 9, 9 to 11. Be it for am or pm. (Starting from odd numbers = yang) 3. Thus it can be said to be 11, 3, 5, 7, 9 and loops back to 11. 4. In addition, there are only TWELVE (12) Zodiac signs and in a 24 hour time frame. Thus Each zodiac sign must occupy one of the TWO hours. Logic says that the rat, being the first animal sign must start at some timing e.g. 11am. 5. Therefore, anyone born between 11am to 1pm or 11pm to 1am is considered as born in the RAT hour. Thus, these hours are definitely not belong to the OX = 1 to 3 or the PIG = 9 to 11. Ref: http://lovesigns.net 6. There are TWO Schools of thoughts with regards to which day one is born in for those on this borderline of 11PM TO 1PM. 6.1. THE EXTREMIST VIEW 6.1.1 Some Geomancers use this extremist VIEW and consider anyone born between 11pm to 2pm as belonging to the "earlier" period: born on 6th February instead of 7th February. 6.1.2 As the description suggests; some practise this but in my opinion; not the most popular view. 6.2. THE PRACTICAL VIEW 6.2.1 Many of us instinctively feel and also see on our birth certificate that we are born e.g. 0001HRS onwards on a 7th February. Thus, it is very hard for a lay person to want to use 6th February instead of 7th February in this example. 6.2.2 Frankly, there is nothing wrong to "split-up" the TWO Hours into virtual time-zones. For example: 2300HRS TO 2359HRS on a 6th Feburary and then 0000HRS onwards to 1259HRS. This is perfectly fine! As ain't both still belong to the RAT hour? 6.2.3 Thus the HOUR field is a separate module from the DAY field!
  21. These are further considerations: 1. Attached, please find a mind-map that I had just drawn to show the relationship between the two major concepts that are widely applied to Feng Shui today. 2. There is an interesting link between the Flying Star Feng Shui and Ba Zi to the Five Elements concept. The plus point of the Five Elements Concept is that as it is the lowest common denominator; it is like the glue that binds both Flying Star and Ba zi. 3. Today, the key success factor of the Compass School of Feng Shui (Eight House and Flying Star) is it's accountability: based on one's Year of Birth. How to get this wrong? Even if it is say wrongly calculated; anyone can double-check the calculations. The Compass School of Feng Shui became highly popular with DIY enthusiasts around 1980's onwards. 4. Frankly, in the past around the 1930s even till today; before the advent of the knowledge of Para 3; Ba Zi and Ba Zi Feng Shui was widely used. But the main drawback is that often no two masters get the same answers - all the time! Prior to the internet age, who cares! No-body even know that you got it wrong! Today, with free access; and tons of sites; everything changes here. 5. A practical approach, therefore is based on the attached model. And one of the critical usage is at the "final stage" of analysis i.e. a sector or e.g. a bedroom. If the individual is suppose to sleep in that room and he is a weak water person; then this info is looked at in relation to the Flying Star chart of that room (sector) to fine tune the analysis and recommendations for that room (sector).
  22. This signage says: "BEST STALL FOR RENT" If this STALL is so great; why is it being abandoned by a previous stall-holder or owner??? Note: This food-court is in the NorthLink Building; 10 Admiralty Street. This industrial building alone has at least four food-courts.
  23. Please see attachment. Note the Hour of Birth frame...
  24. Mind your language? ACTUAL Signage says: "Camera in Surveillance" Should this sign be changed to: " Surveillance Camera in Operation?" P.S. Location: Jurong Point Shopping Complex Annex
  25. Government's Asset Enhancement Scheme 1. Photos taken@ Teck Whye Lane showing a block of flat in the process of installing several lift shafts to ensure that each unit can be reached by a lift. 2. Formerly, such a block has a central lift and the lifts often only stops at staggered floors e.g. 1, 3, 6, 9, 11 floors. 3. One good thing about the lifts to every unit is to allow the elderly and allow for wheel-chair friendly access. 4. Previously this government asset enhancement scheme was a "carrot" used during every elections (in the past): "if you don't vote for me; you don't get such an upgrading". Many believe;in the 2016 elections; thisis no longer a carrot nor a stick. Ain't going to work anymore! Note: The block that is currently being upgraded was built in 1979.
