In my opinion, some temples may be yin while some may be yang. It has to do more with how much lighting goes into a temple. Some temples, like the Lama Temple in Beijing - the interior of most of the buildings can be yin - dark. Many mosque depending on whether they get direct sunlight or not can also be yin - dark or brighter. For example many mosque or Surat at outskirts of cities can be yin. Frankly, some temples can be bright and brightly lit. The morale of the story, here is that it does not really matter. What is more important is the concept of "depository". Many Geomancers felt that especially temples are depositories of people's wishes, some sorrows, pain, heartache etc... So it is a "depository" of even confessions and sins (Catholic Church - have confession - booths). So, it is the concern that a home is close to such "depositories" is felt to some Geomancers not too good. And some temples can be clean and some can be "dirty". As there are good monks; there are also bad monks; for example, some even "play" with "captured small ghost souls" etc.... Using a Luopan can be used to detect such anamolies. However, one school of Feng Shui; compass school of Feng Shui uses the magnetic signature of the earth to detect qi. BUT if a house or temple or a place gets HAUNTED; such entities have their own "signatures" that you cannot just dial for a Geomancer's help. One has to get the "Ghost busters" or select priests / monks for that kind of job. For the Roman Catholic; this must be sanctioned and approved by their higher authories - and even exercists.
  2. 1. Frankly, for us Chinese; it is considered as easy as ABC. 2. For example, being a culture of more than 5,000 centuries old; Chinese consider both RED colour auspicious. And in addition, RED is considered the most yang colour amongst all other colours. 3. Thus, in a situation where a home; for example faces a cemetry, red brick wall does the trick or hanging an "ang chai" or a lovely red "flowing" cloth a the main door is considered both auspicious and during Chinese new year, the act of lighting up fire-crackers at the main entrance area is to create yang qi and ward off "evil or bad luck!". 4. Reference: http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=23&mid=7286&new= 5. But for other races or non-Chinese; these are not part of your culture, so perhaps, if you are able to control a light directly outside your main entrance, could turn it on most of the time. For example, nowadays, there are more and more commercial LED lights: Philips Decor brand to Ostram to Powerpac etc... 6. And I checked one of the Philips Decor light that I had bought a year ago, it only consumes 1 (miserly) watt - so a great way to using "yang" energy for this purpose. 7. For non-Chinese, if para 5 is feasible, this would be the most effective by turning on an LED be it cool day or warm day light coloured lights - OK. 8. Alternative, if this.. Para 5 cannot be done or Para 3 is kinda odd for non-Chinese then... these are the least "intrusive" - and no need to use such things as a ba gua mirror which is equally totally non-Chinese. 9. Usually, if there is nothing "unusual" you could always remain status quo : the saying goes: "If it ain't broken, don't fix it"
  3. A. In this sample Feng Shui audit report; the Flying Star numbers is used to determine what is the best or better colour(s). And even what colours should be avoided at the Main entrance area. B. In this attachment; the Main Entrance door is located at:- SW Dining / Main Entrance area Best Elements(Colour): 1. Metal (White or light pastel colours) 2. Water (Blue, black or grey) 3. Earth (LIGHT cream or beige) Neutral: Wood (Wood or wood tone or brown) And the Caution is avoid Earth (BRIGHT YELLOW) colour. C. This is based on Flying Star numbers at that sector. D. While the "method" where North = water element ; thus paint the door blue or South = fire element etc... are too general - and is like applying Kindergarten type of Feng Shui.
  4. 1. The Rikshaw is a Japanese invention of around 1800's. 2. In Singapore, this Jinrisha Station was built around 1903; at a triangular plot of land between Tanjong Pagar and Neil Road. This fork road is still visible today in Singapore. Where traffic can go either towards Tanjong Pagar or Neil Road. 3. In fact, the actual Rikshaw station at 1 Neil Road is still around but converted into commercial premises. 4. At that time, there were two stations: the first was at Middle Road. The second Rikshaw station is at this 1 Neil Road. 5. Today, we have major taxi operator: Comfort & Yellow Cab that hires out taxis to taxi drivers. And majority of these taxis are regulated and have two shifts. 6. In the 1900's the Jinrisha as they are called; see attached picture; also operate the same way: there are the licensing operator who leases these rickshaws to the "poor" with limited or no education. Many of these rickshaw pullers come from Southern part of China. 7. And they work two shifts: one shift is in the morning around 5.30am to 3.00pm while the 2nd shift works from 3.00pm to around 12 midnite. Can you draw a parallel with today's taxi operators / taxi drivers with these rickshaw pullers? 8. Many of these rickshaw pullers stay in housing quarters along Neil / Tanjong Pagar Road - close to their livelyhood.
  5. 1. The common denominator is the Five Elements concept. 2. The very general concept like: South is fire element; thus earth element is not so good. While colours like white (metal element); for example; are very simplistic models. Widely used by many Geomancers to generalise what colours to paint the main door. 3. The more specific method isthe use of the Flying Star Feng Shuiby examining a sector's flying star numbers and it's association with the common denominator: The Five Elements concept. 4. What you havementioned isthe widespread"estimation" of best colours by applying general ideas underPara 2. 5. The Eight House or Four Good/Bad : East/ West Group should not be confused with the colour association. As it is not linked to the Five Elements concept. Thuse even if south is your worst direction: this concept if one wants to apply to colours is like: "So what?" There is nolink between your worst direction vis a vis south sector. 6. Many professional Feng Shui practitioners and even discerning DIY users usethe method as mentioned under Para 3 to determine the best / optimiumcolour andif used properly can even fine tune and say whatis best,2nd best and worst colours to paint. 7. Drawing a parallel, what you had mentioned- under Para 2 is like ancient technology. It is like using the X-ray machine to peer into a body. What one sees in the past are cloudy imagines on X-rays for those suffering from TB. 8. Using method as mentioned under Para 3, is the equivalent of the MRI machine that can do cross-slice of the body giving a 3D colour high resolution perspective. While the association of "South my worst direction and what to paint based on this - is like trying to compare an apple with an orange - if it can be compared at all.
  6. If you or your family has frequent dreams or nightmares, do contact your Geomancer for a solution!
  7. My grandfather's retail shop was located at 4A, 4B Change Alley. Change Alley is a row of shop houses facing a medium sized alley much like those still found in Egypt. A very popular tourist belt: the equivalent of the Collyer Quay/Funan square of the past: selling everything from radios, electric items. A must visit as it is facing the Collyer Quay wharf - for embarking / disembarking ships.
  8. One of the oldest departmental store: John Little's at Raffles Place, Singapore circa. 1930's - PRE-WAR
  9. What is the difference between a criminal robber and a home with Quantum Leap? A home with Quantum Leap sucks wealth "rob" the environment for wealth. While a robber, tries to hold up - often gets caught and shot to death or goes to jail. This is the main difference. Can I fall in love with a robber? Yes, Why not? Especially one who employs Quantum Leap in Feng Shui! No one can catch him doing so! Why is it that the Rich gets Richer, and the Poor? Look at it this way: Do you want to end up as the poor robber, shot-to death or a non-discrete Rich guy? With a nice property?
  10. 1. In the west, there were studies / reports that GREY cars are prone to greater accidents on European and Western countries. 2. The study suggests that grey cars "blend" with the road especially during dusks and low light conditions; and the fog. 3. In Singapore, once upon a time; RED cars were considered accident prone especially when these cars did not have the compulsory third brake light and their brake lights were rather dim. It was felt that when such cars brake; the brake lights were less attention getting. 4. Nowadays, in Singapore, it does not matter! In my opinion, a high number of so called Sonata taxi drivers drive like Formula One racers... And many Singapore drivers not only drive fast : speeding but like to weave in and out of traffic. And they also think that they can brake in a dime... : tailgating...
  11. 1. What is the difference between a Geomancer and a Singapore Politician? A Geomancer has jet black hair (myself included). But for a Singapore Politician; compare their photos: before and after entering politics. When a politician enter politics; they start-off with jet black hair like most of us. But usually after three to five years; somehow, their hair turned magically greyish or white! 2. Thus it makes no sense for us Geomancers to be embroled in a clients: Can or cannot buy frenzy! Firstly, Geomancers are not real estate agents. We don't go around house hunting or follow clients to view each and every home. 3. More importantly, we like to keep our hair as black as possible. In fact, there are cases where some lawyers enter politics and as a result loose their home: e.g. landed property to renting / become bankrupts or having to "escape" Singapore. 4. The morale of the story: "If it is yours, it's yours" If it is not yours, it is not yours". And never believe agents when they say " Let me know by yesterday!".
  12. 1. Life is rather peaceful for Geomancers - as often, we don't want to get unnecessary white hair or age unduly. 2. But there are always those who: love to bring up their problems: " My agent says, if I do not reply by YESTERDAY, the property would have been sold". 3. But when you mention this to the client: They will say, don't worry, I will never hurry to review the property for me. Yet, one call, will follow-up by another or an e-mail. 4. Once an e-mail was sent; expect a call or an sms in the next few hours asking... 5. Look at it this way, it is not like we can drop everything or fixed appointment and look at such cases...
  13. 1. The Eight coins: Is not a known traditional cure. It may have being sold; as the number 8 is phonetically auspicious especially for the Cantonese dialect group; And most probably because between 2004 to 2023; number 8 is the reigning period. Thus, this eight coins can be considered as a modern "invention". 2. The Seven coins: Seven under the Flying Star association refers to weak metal. Thus, it is considered a traditional cure. As "metal" is used to destroy or neutralise nearly all the know "ills" such as #2; and can be used partially to neutralise #5 and in some instances it can be used to reduce bad #3. 3. The Six coins: Six represent big metal or strong metal; and usally between this or the Seven coins; the Six coins is more commonly used as a cure as it is "strong metal" vs Seven coins which is "weak metal". And as mentioned under Para 2; seven coins may not be sufficient to neutralise #5 let alone multiples of #5 with #2 or #5 with #5 and fuelled by #9. 4. The Three coins: Three represent wood (big wood or strong wood element). And often some keep a string of three coins: where symbolically, here " the actual coins are metal" and under the Flying Star concept: Metal "destroys" wood to create wealth. Thus three coins are selectively laid onto the concrete cement screeding before laying the actual tiles. Some even stick three coins "joined" together on their cash register. Some even string it to their accounts book and even some place it on their working calculator. 5. Thus: Traditional usage are: Three, Six or Seven coins. And if we associate them with coins; anything else are "modern" concepts or ideas or some say marketing ploy. Especially hanging a set of eight coins on one's door knob etc... 6. By the way, especially for Six coins or Seven coins; a red string represent "fire" is used to "control especially six coins - big metal". Thus for six or seven coins; a red string with or without tassle is used to bind these coins. 7. For other combinations e.g. your picture showing eight coins; there is generally "no sigificance" with regards for its use as a traditional cure; goldern string represents gold or wealth may be used. And the clue, here is that it is meant more as a decoration; then Feng Shui cure.
  14. Frankly, it is strongly recommended to do all these things before 14 February 2010 - start of Chinese Lunar New Year. Especially at North. Since it is only replacing the heating unit and not extensive renovations or changing the heat pipes; this should be OK or can be done on or after 14 Feb 2010. Reference:- 2010 Flying Star Forecast North 9 4 2 1 8 6 5 3 7 South Take note the following sectors:- Sickness Star this year is at North-East Misfortune/Sickness Star this year is at South-West Disputes/Quarrel Star this year is at South Education/Romance Star this year is at North Grand Duke this year is East-North-East, 60 Degree. - Avoid sitting facing the grand duke or disturbing him by having renovations. Location in Conflict is North. - Avoid having renovations done opposite the location in conflict
  15. This intricate Jade Flower and fruit basket appeals more to the Cantonese dialect group and to the european market....
  16. An unsual combination of delicately carved jade cabbage with a pair of pekingese dogs. The pekingese dogs is also known as Lion dogs. And this is one of the most popular ancient breed of toy dogs from China. These dogs are a favourite amongst the Chinese Imperial court during the Ching Dynasty.
  17. How do I improve on my romance? Certainly not paying US$1000/- for a piece of rock! Use the money more wisely, and don't chock up credit card debts when doing so......
  18. Susan J. wrote: Hi, Thanks for the response. Ideally, where should the sink, exhaust fan be placed, should it be: 1) good direction facing good direction 2) bad direction facing good direction 3) good direction facing bad direction 4) bad direction facing bad direction 1. None of the above. Please note that a sink is not govern under the same ruleset as a stove. 2. These are some considerations:- 2.1. For a stove, it is preferred (Nice-to) have even number of hobs - if possible e.g. 4 hobs instead of 3. 2.2. The count has more to do with traditional stoves with hobs: and does not refer to induction type or flat surface type of stove. 3. Sink: 3.1. More importantly, the stove should not FACE the sink. 3.2. Nice to have the stove - if possible not located at 2o Year Flying star numbers: Water Star #8 or Water Ster #1 sector. And it is equally important if possible to avoid the stove directly at either or Mountain or Water star #3 sector. 3.3. If the stove is on a straight line or share the same panel or side with the sink; best that it be separated by at least 17 inches or 43cm. 3.4. All standard kitchen cabinet is 2 ft width. 3.5. Traditionally, the place where the stove sits on is higher than the sink. Nowadays, especially in Singapore, the stove and sink sits on the same cabinet height level therefore; this is no longer of prime importance. 3.6. In the past, the stove sits on the cabinet height (from floor to table top) at 34 inches. While the sink seats 4. Please note that a fridge is considered a metal element and no issue having it face the sink or the stove.
  19. The three storey Adelphi Hotel shifted the third time tothis location at Number 3 Coleman Street. And was there until it permanently closed in 1973. It's last business day was on 25 June 1973. It was considered as Singapore's oldest hotel. The entire building was totally demolised in 1980. And five years later, a smaller office-shopping complex replaced this old grand dame. What a pity! In my opinion: Today, this site is not exactly "clean". As some units.... have sightings of...
  20. Logaina M. wrote: Dear Sir, My husband andI we have the Kua #4. Ourdaughters #2 , #4 and #6.Our house is an 8 period housefacing NE 40 degree. First I need to know: 1. Should the flying star chart of9 sectorscover the whole house area including the back yard area and the enterance outside the buidling but inside the fence or not. 1. The 20 Year Flying Star Chart is a "perfect" tool when used in conjunction with the "pie chart" method. It can be used for the interior as well as extend further to the back yard area and whatever; no issue. Logaina M. wrote: 2. This is a western group house, but we are eastern group persons, meanwhile the flying star chart has all auspecious numbers combinations: 369, 852, 147 which one is more effective the fact that this is a western group house, that it is facing our worst direction, the flying star chart combination numbers? 2. Priority is always : "location, location, location". 3. Thus, just "eating" and "sleeping" on Flying Star chart is alone in isolation is not appropriate. 4. One of major key success factor is: Environment (The Landscape); The Site, the building or house - based firstly on the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. 5. What you are mentioning is like putting on run-flat tires on a car ; but forgot to install brakes to the car. This car can still crash. 6. Thus, mind you, a holistic approach is critical: Good Shapes and Forms; and equally good facing directions: and equally matching the layout plan to the environment. If Flying Star Feng Shui is used: there is a vast difference between: Pearl-string effect, or clear-space at the frontage. 7. Overall, Shapes and Forms, 1st; and the common denominator of Eight House concept and Flying Star are that they belong to the Compass School Feng Shui! Here; it takes two hands to clap: Logaina M. wrote: Dear Sir, 369, 852, 147 8. Frankly, it is no point regurgitating these numbers, as it has to be looked at sector by sector. Logaina M. wrote: 3. Figuring out with limited knowledge can sometimes unfortunately become: " a little knowledge is a dangerious thing". 10. Frankly, either you have to somehow, somewhere, hope you get it right or often, get professional advice.
  21. 1. It is a good start to see if it is feasible to use the Compass School to see if the stove can have the correct facing direction. 2. Frankly, it is not possible to comprehend an entire layout just by reading between these lines: "My problem now is where should I position the SINK, EXHAUST FAN, the Microwave, and the Refrigerator?". Susan J. wrote: Just to clarify, I'm an EAST group person and my house is facing North. 22. Benjamin P. wrote: I need to move in from old house to new house, what is the suitable date to move in? I have only 1/2-4/2 time and those peoples say this year TIGER is not appropriate to move when TIGER year started. 1. Look at it this way: Chinese is one of the four oldest civilizations. And I am sure, in the last five centuries till-now; there are already many cycles with the Tiger year that comes and goes. 2. And we cannot just say that just because Tiger year is no good; cannot move, cannot get married, cannot have children. Might as well say: don't bother to work in the Tiger year or travel then. 3. One common saying goes: one man's meat is another man's poison! Some people curse and swear against numbers : 13; others 4 or 44 or 444. While for others there is no adverse concern at all. 4. And for humans; the greatest fear is "fear itself" = auto-suggestion leading to self-fullfilling prohecy. 5. In fact under the Chinese horoscope; tiger year means different things to those born in say the year of the rat, pig, rooster, moneky, rabbit, horse, snake etc.... 6. Thus what was mentioned has to do with "extreme" thinking - cannot move or cannot get married. Frankly, I readly cannot fathom, what has moving got to do with the tiger year. Maybe, people are afraid of having a tiger new born baby girl as - there was a previous bias with such baby girls. But tiger year = cannot move frankly, this is kinda new? How do we consider move in? Is it with God and table in with some furniture will do? 7. Bringing in items or boxes or even buying new fridge, washing machine and connecting them or turning them on does not constitue move-in. 8. Move-in is the physical situation where one literally goes to the new, home especially cook a meal, there, bathing and sleeping there. This is a closer definition to the word: move-in. 9. Please note that there are some who bring in the God and place it on the new home's altar; but yet did not stay in the new home: This cannot however be said to have moved-in. 9.1 For some, they may bring in the God a few days earlier e.g. as it happens to be the 1st or the 15th lunar day of a month. Such dates are automatically considered very auspicious dates without having to check whether it is auspicious to the individual or not.

But don't get conned especially byGeomancers that say that I can bring you wealth! In fact, I bring more wealth to these Geomancers. Make a guess: They buy me cheap & sell me dearly to you!"
