  1. A near-by home which also placed a pair of elephants on each of the main gate pillars
  2. More photos of the Thian Hock Keng Temple at Telok Ayer Street.
  3. Beginning at Telok Ayer A Malay community inhabited Telok Ayer long before the first immigrants even set foot on Singapore. Fishing was thier livelihood and they made thier homes in kelong-huts on stilts over the water. When the British acquired the island in 1819, they designated Telok Ayer a Chinese area. By 1835, Telok Ayer Street boasted trading houses, emporiums and religious buildings including three of Singpaore's most promininet Chinese temples - Fuk Tak CHi, Wak Hai Cheng Bio and Thian Hock Keng. Ying Fo Fui Kun - the first Hakka clan association and a national monumnet - is also located here. Telok Ayer Landing Site Telok Ayer was originally a bay, with a shoreline that came up to Telok Ayer Street. Early immigrants disembared on the sandy beach and gave their thanks for a safe passage at the temple or shrinte before looking for work and shelter. It is here that you would have found hundreds of boats manned by Indian lightermen who plied their trade from the coastline into the Singapore River. By 1900, Telok Ayer was becoming overcrowded. To create more space, the bay was filled in and the area now known as Shenton Way was built.
  4. The eight sided lantern hung in a commercial (restaurant) at West Coast Plaza (formerly Ginza Plaza)
  5. 1. This popular porridge (pork & fish) + raw fish stall is opened for just a few hours in the morning: 1.1 From: 6am to 9am from Monday to Friday. It does not open on Saturdays and Sundays. 1.2 The above excludes the preparation of the raw fish and other ingredients. 2. Most likely the sellers benefit from low rental and their popularity. See the queues. 3. I am also one of the guilty ones that faithfully line-up at 6am whenever I have assignments close-by. This is because there were times (in the past that I went there at close to 9am and was even told - "no more" - closed) and were the unlucky ones in the queue to be told about it.
  6. 1. Common sense again prevails when selecting dining table(s). 2. Often someone would lean against a dining table or place food sometimes in a unbalanced way on a dining table. 3. This is the rational why it is best to have four legs at all four corners of a dining table. 4. However, the photos shows another table legs design that says " I also have 4 (extended) legs ".
  7. 1. Frankly, it depends. 2. Thus the clash is dependant on what elements (which of the Five elements) clash with what element.
  8. These are some considerations: 1. Do take note that yin numbers are even: 2, 4, 6 or 8. 2. Yang numbers are 1, 3, 5 or 7. 3. In a 'yin' environment; in general, just check that if you had drawn a Flying Star chart: go thru the chart for sectors that purely have all yin stars. And check which area it is. If the room is not bright enough; then best is to let natural light flow in. (Other than a store room). 4. The most yang colours can be used in the home to neutralise yin stars: RED. 5. Lighting or natural lighting does help also to reduce the yin of the home.
  9. 1. In my opinion, what you mentioned sounds impressive if this was mentioned 2,000 years ago by a Fortune Teller. 2. Can I instead, ask you a logical question:- "How long are you going to sit in the South area facing North? 3. If some lunatic in a guise of a geomancer tells you that you must at least spent 12 hours each day there? Would you do it? 4. " Alvin with the red wallet " why don't you continue to hang on with your red wallet or get a red HP or red cover for your HP instead... this would be more of a practical choice. 5. Otherwise, one should consider this (from a lunatic geomancer to another lunatic fringe..) 5.1. To be effective; you already got one point correct: Singapore is South of Peninsula Malaysia 5.2. Get an expensive home in the Southern part of Singapore e.g. The Sail at Marina, work in Shenton Way 5.3. Ask the company to place you at the South of the company's office with the building facing south. 5.4. When need to travel, always drive South. No such thing as driving up north or east or west. 6. One very important point is that "fire" need not necessarily always be associated with colour. One of the most abundant fire element is "sunlight". 6.1. Perhaps, go for a tan? Install infra-red light bulbs in the home? 6.2. Turn on excessive lights in the home or office to create the abundance of "fire element".
  10. This are some considerations: 1. Common sense Feng Shui 1.1. The stove should not be too close to a sidewall especially if later, one needs to place a large wok onto the stove. Here, if the wall is too close; the wok simply can't be placed onto the stove. In addition, if the stove is too close to the wall, flames will get to it. 1.2. For the Chinese, we often fry our food; thus it is often not a good idea to place any other items be it a cabinet or a fridge too close to the stove. Here, after a few months, the side of the fridge would often be soaked with deposits of cooking oil. 1.3. The stove should not have the neighbour's drainage pipe or sewerage pipe above the stove. You said: " I can only place the fridge (left), hob (centre) and sink (right) at the same area. I can only have about 6 inch gap between fridge and hob and about 10 inch between the hob and sink. " 2. If you can only manage 10 inches between the hob and sink.. what else can be done? You tell me also. 3. As to fridge left, hob centre etc... if you need to then go ahead. In Feng Shui, there is another "scientific" side of it. Such as where possible the sitting of the stove should fit the "breadwinner/spouse" of the home. And other considerations. 4. If your kitchen is too small; then "too bad'.. If you know as many Feng Shui considerations; then make the BEST out of the situation.
  11. Oops.. and the "exposed" toilets... frankly...I can't imagine living ina groundfloor unit with waist level exposed windows! Even if they are exposed; goodness me.. use sandblasted or matt finished glass! I won't want to hang window screens and let the wind blow open exposed areas.. Neither do I want to install blinds.. which often in this case has to cover the lower part of the windows... Seriously... I really don't like this... aquarium fish tank toilet...
  12. Every year, there are always some developments that receive it's Temporary Occupation Licence (TOP) a week or two before the Chinese 7th month... Last week, when I visited The Livia, there were only around 4 or 5 units that had managed to moved in before the start of the Chinese 7th month... The rest... remains empty... It is like a ghost town!
  13. Under Symbolism in Feng Shui, it is best not to use blue glass or blue tint on windows....
  14. By Asian standards, this lifebuoy is placed too high! Although it is a good thing to place it high i.e. to avoid people playing aroundwith it; but as a lifesaver, this isdangerous! Hopefully, thiscondo has more lifesaving devices than only this lifebuoy! Please it lower - STU-PIG! Location: The Tropica... 2011 P.S. If this is for real = real lifesaver; it should always be placed at least at an adult's waist level; to ensure that even a 10 year old child is able to get hold of it. This is pure commonsense. If it is merely for decorative purposes.. then... nevermind..
  15. Entrance to units at The Tropica
  16. More photos of "spiked" trellis in The Tropica condo...
  17. In reference to my previous comments, I believe there may be a practical "downside" to using a curtain to cover the toilet door. This downside primarily relates to issues of effort or laziness and hygiene. Some individuals install a curtain and subsequently forget about it! (Install and forget). After a few weeks, if the curtains are not changed regularly, they could become a breeding ground for germs. Just imagine your attractive face, whether masculine or feminine, coming into contact with those curtains... It is possible to transfer numerous germs from the curtains to your lovely face! If you are uncomfortable with this situation, it may be better to simply close the toilet door firmly. In extreme cases, if it is a single leaf door, consider installing an automatic door spring closer to ensure it closes each time....
  18. In my opinion, it is ok if you want to do so.
  19. In my opinion, usually the furthest a geomancer would go into is if the person e.g. has too yin a chart.. and looking at the entire chart in a holistic way. Other than that, you seldom if ever see geomancers "dwell further into what you had mentioned". Overall: yin = passive and yang = active. I believe that so far, no one has done deep research into people with too yin or too yang a chart.
  20. 1. Friend, have you considered that the summary of elements of each individual changes every 10 YEARS? For example, look at this sample chart. When born his chart or Summary of Elements Looks like this Summary of all the Elements and it's Strength. Element Strength Percentage 3 Water Strongest 40 % 2 Wood Strong 21 % 2 Fire Extremely Weak 5 % 3 Earth Weakest 16 % 2 Metal Weak 16 % Changes in your Five Element Balance for 34 - 43 (2009 - 2018) Water Wood Fire Earth Metal 50 % 10 % 2 % 30 % 7 % Between 34 to 43, his water element jumps to 50 percent. And Earth element also increases to 30 percent. Changes in your Five Element Balance for 44 - 53 (2019 - 2028) Water Wood Fire Earth Metal 22 % 12 % 31 % 9 % 9 % Between 44 to 53, notice that his water element has reduced to 22 percent. While his fire element jumps to 31 percent. Here, he is more likely to have heart problems during this period. Changes in your Five Element Balance for 54 - 63 (2029 - 2038) Water Wood Fire Earth Metal 22 % 41 % 2 % 8 % 8 % Betwen 54 to 63, he has to be careful of wood element (liver, bile and spleen) = 41 percent. Here, one of the most common issues can be diabettes... 2. One of the main issues is that technically, one can even draw monthly or yearly summary charts. 3. Not all Ba zi charts are the same. As often, many different sites or programs can even give different results. 4. There are other considerations.
  21. 1. In my opinion, in the infancy of gene splitting, dna manupulation, there was movie: The Fly (1986) with Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. 2. I think there is more hope; if one day, one can manipulate genes than to use the method you mentioned below. 3. Futhermore, what you mentioned, is only static. For example, most likely you copied both charts based on the initial when born chart. There is such thing as : every 10 years, each person's 5 elements changes. Then how? 4. This reminds me of how, in the past, when many doctors did not know that there is such thing as O positive (negative); ABetc.. blood group. 4.1. And it is akin to trying to connect a tube between two persons in the hope of giving transfusion that way. If lucky both parties blood group match. If not the transfusion is toxic to the the person receiving the blood!
  22. Yes, you are right to point out that the poison arrow (concrete beam edge) in my opinion exerts around 1 metre range of sha qi or poison arrows. I only gave a quick glance of the layout plan; 1. Standing at the main door when looking into the kitchen, should not have a glimpse of sharp objects like knifes or scissors.. as based on Shapes and Forms, this is considered inauspicious. 1.1. While based on commonsense, it is rare but if someone were to run into the home, sees the knives; grap one and go threaten the family members... (More on commonsense, here). 2. In the event that the dining table can be seen thru the corridor of the main door area and orbedroom 3, then if the dining table faces e.g. bedroom 3's door; and there are sharp object(s) such as a knife or scissors; then symbolically, it could mean health or accidents e.g. cuts .. I think there are more....
  23. This informative signage is placed amongst a bed of hibiscus at the newly TOP Livia condo at Pasir Ris Grove, Singapore Hibiscus Court Family Name: Hibiscus rosa-sinensis member of the Malvaceae family Common Name: In Singapore it is often called the bunga raya or "flower of celebration" This plant with several hundred species is believed to have an Asian origin, hence the name rosa-sinesis which means "Rose of China". More details can be found when we look at the Greek word for Hibiscus, which means "Mallow" and therefore links the name directly to the Malvaceae family. Hibiscus Tiliaceus or also called Sea Hibiscus is commonly found in Singapore. All over the world, Hibiscus is available as tea. It helps clear up nose congestions and prompts proper kidney functions as well as reducing fevers. In Malaysia it was used to help cure epidemics and all other kind of diseases. Whereas in China, Hibiscus was particulary used because of the juice you get from petals and flowers which make a popular dye for hair and eyebrows. This was then believed to be passed to the Arabs and the Portugese. In Jamaica they use to polish their shoes with the large petals, this is why Hibiscus sometimes is reffred as the Shoe Flower. The bright and colourful flowers are worn by women in the Pacific Islands to show their status of being singple. Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is found in abundance throughout the country, and for this very reason, was chosen to be the national flower (in 1960) by Malaysia's first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman
  24. Upon analyzing the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui principles, it is evident that Fig 2 does not align harmoniously with the door frame of the bedroom. Additionally, it gives rise to a visual phenomenon known as a "zebra crossing" effect, where the floor panels appear to clash with the entrance to the bedroom space. Kindly refer to the attached document for further details.
  25. Thus in the attached illustration of a TOP-VIEW Fig. 1, it shows a more harmonious flow of the "capping frame" with the way the floor tiles were laid vs the attachment showing TOP-VIEW Fig. 2.
