Hello Cecil A friend asked if I hv an answer in Feng Shui term with her recent experience. Perhaps, you can help! 1. Wife is a weak Water, Metal being her favourable element & Earth is most unfavourable 2. Husband is a strong Fire, Earth being his favourable element & Wood is most unfavourable The husband bought a motorbike recently. One day when she got to her garden she was startled to see a huge brown snake coiling around most of the front bike up to the handle bar. Jokingly I said to her that perhaps she is being smothered & almost choked with some personal life pressure that was a little obvious from my observation. Thank you. Rosni

Dear Master Cecil, I live in a double storey terrace house. At the ground floor, my backyard was extended by erecting a wall on the left and right covered with awning, but the back is only covered with 2 feet concrete wall and grills up to the awning level. I didn't do any hacking at the back when I extended the backyard. Which means all the original structure and backdoor to the backyard remains. Whether the backyard is considered as part of the house when we apply eight mansion/flying star feng shui? I use the backyard as wet kitchen and hanging wet clothes. In the front part of my house, my car porch is located here and attached to the house without wall & door enc…

Dear Eleni, If you are D.I.Y. Feng Shui, then, it is best that you may have to (depending on your interest and absorption), take as little as a month or even 6 to 1 year to really understand some of the key principles. I understand, many of us, simply want to read a book on Feng Shui and apply the ideas immediately. However, it is not like "William Hung" of the American Idol fame, http://www.williamhung.org who thinks that every area can be "cultivated" or worked on for everyone. For example, several years back, this Doctor, sought to practice Feng Shui. Usually doctors are intelligent people. But this doctor thought that Feng Shui is just like reading books on the human …

Dear Samatha, Another alternative is the grille gate. Here, for example, if one has a stainless steel or aluminium gate, some of the panels can be flushed with "steel" or aluminium sheet. Such that for the steel sheet, it covers e.g. the knee level or sometimes we see aluminium gates that have a large area covered up. It is nice to have the steel sheet covering the gille gate surface as it is reflective. And this reflection is akin to a ba gua mirror. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dera Fiona, To be honest, one area to look at is Feng Shui. But equally important is many other factors especially that each of our character has been formed throughout our young age. This is why, most of the time, when we reach 18 or 21, we are allowed to sign a specific signature. As our character component is already comprise of what we are. Under Chinese horoscope, the only explanation is that the best match for a Rat partner is the dragon or monkey. Whilst the ram is not as a good match. The worst conflict is a horse with rat. Usually, the major part of Feng Shui is to allow for a good home environment conducive to family life. And from here, the spin-off is that a g…

Dear Nisha, Actually, the concern of a mirror facing the bed stems from the belief that when one sleeps, some Chinese belief that the spirit leaves the body. When doing so, it may get a "shock" to see itself in the mirror. This is why, often, numerous Feng Shui books or practitioners does not favour having a mirror facing the bed. However, in the past I had mentioned that more importantly, it has to do with "how sensitive" we are or are not. For example, contrary to the above belief, we could say that when we sleep, our spirit, leaves our body. And, because it wants to look nice, look into the mirror and combs his/her hair before, going off! 2. Overall, we often hear tha…

Thank you for such an informative site! I'm trying to map out my home to identify the different sectors but I'm stuck as to which I should consider my front door. I live in a three family home (each apartment has it's own floor and we're on the street level floor). The door that goes out to the front (street side) of our house is used very infrequently- by the occasional visitor and by us only to check the mailbox. The back door is used by our family to enter and exit the house (our garage is back there) and by our closest relatives when they come to visit. I'm thinking that our back door should be our "front door" when placing the nine squares over a plan of our home but…

Dear Mr. Cecil Lee, My Kua number is 2, My Eight house chart is Southwest. The main door of my house is in the North direction. My master bed room is in the Southeast section of the house (which is one of my bad directions) and attached to the bathroom/toilet via an open space between. Please help me to clarify these questions: 1. Does the curtain hung in the open space between the bed room and the bath/toilet room will enhance the good sha in the bed room? Currently I hang a thin curtain in this place and always close the toilet bowl lid and the toilet door when not in use. 2. If I like to place my bed in the NE section in the Master bed room, should I use the NE compute…

Dear Cheng Teik, Even if heavy knocking was done prior to Feb 2004, do check the following: 1. roof - is the roofing done on or after this period. 2. main door? does the main door remain or will it be changed after Feb 2004. 3. Is the main door or other fittings e.g. no window frame or window fitted especially at the frontage or the main door has not been fitted yet. 4. Has the kitchen being fully renovated and stove placed in? If any of the above remain uncompleted, then, it is safe to say that one's home will going to be a Period 8 home. Even if a home is a Period 7 home, it can still `fly' to Period 8 (but not the other way around). Doing some of the activities mentio…

Dear Master Cecil, I live in a 2 storey terrace house. My house is facing southeast 2, but our main door is tilted 90" facing northeast 2 which is also facing a wall sharing with my neighbour (7 feet apart). If I stand at the main door inside looking out, on my left is the wall (outside the house) and on my right is also a wall 4 feet width (inside the house). My question is whether all the above will obstract chi coming into the house? How do I counter this problem. Can I put a portable round water fountain (3" diameter) with concrete stand directly in front of my main door with some plants as well to increase my earning power. TQ & Regards, Fiona

Dear Sybil, More importantly is the main entrance door. This door should (MUST) open inwards. On the practical side, there is frankly no issue with front gate opening out. This is often because of the constraint of limited interior space to open inwards: as it `hit' a parked car. Here, also many auto-gate opening devices are fitted to swing outwards - as this is most practical solution as mentioned above. We can say: It is nice to have it open inwards - provided it is practical. Warmest Regards, Cecil

My best direction is southwest but my bedroom is in the south direction which is not favorable for me.Thus,i've decided to place my bed facing southwest.Since my bathroom is in the southwest direction,is it ok for me to sleep facing the wall which shares the bathroom and my bedroom? would that be considered as sleeping facing the southwest direction? Plus,i plan to move my bed to the corner below the light that is fixed against the wall. Will the light disturb me?what if i shift my bed slightly away from the corner?

Dear Jen, Thanks for the information. Yes, this is very common even locally in my country, also. It is not necessarily true all the time that such houses will have a wealth leak. As many of us are aware: 1. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, certain homes (based on facing direction) are said to have better qi flow then others. Thus, in one aspect, a home with a good facing direction does matter. 2. How suitable the house is to the breadwinner. This is another consideration. 3. Quantum Leap in Feng Shui Often, a home (on it's own) can be an average or good house. But, ulitmately, some homes can "suck wealth" from it's neighbours. Only then, can there be a quantum leap in Feng Sh…

Dear Sir, I am a West person and my GUA number is 2. I have recently shifted to a new office. By using the 8 Mansion ? Ba Zhai theory, I am sitting at the NW corner but my table is arranged that (due to space), I am facing the SE square. I can only move my chair to make sure that I am facing NE corner while I?m doing my paperwork. But when when I do computer, I am facing the S square. The entrance of the office is at the NW corner, at my left side. There isn?t much can be done because I am the secretary to my Executive Director. Both of my bosses belong to East group as they are born in 1955. His GUA number is 1. My questions are: 1. How can I maximise my good direction…
