Dear Anon, The situation you faced is often very common. This is because one must understand: 1. The Tong Shu dates are often very general advise. Since it is not customised to the couple(s). 2. Many Feng Shui practitioners look into the couple's ba zi to see if the date is suitable for both (or not). 3. In addition, it is good to check whether the date is suitable for the parents and parents-in-law. If not, one way is to wear some colour(s) that is favourable to their ba zi. 4. Cannot interpret the gabbled posting "????". Most of the time, Chinese prefer not to get married during the 7th lunar month. Warmest Regards, Cecil Thanks. Edmond

Dear Mr.Cecil Lee We currently live in a period 7 house, and the main door facing E2. My husband was born on sept.17, 1960. Now we are in period 8, would this house become very unlucky to us? I bought the report on home flying star analysis from you and I become confused. In your report, it says that the E2 (period 7) facing house is suitable to us regardless of the bad numbers which the main door has. Now my question is which is more important, the eight house theory or the flying star theory? I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi I am getting married on 24th May 04 and my own brother is getting married on 12th June, can we both attend each other wedding? My best friend just told me she intend to get married in March which is still within 100 days from my wedding date, I heard that it is best to avoid, is there any remedy or what will happen if I attend her wedding and she attend mine? Looks like this year is a good marriage year. Thanks. Chin

Dear Cecil, You have been very helpful and I truly thank you for it. Since Period 8 is officially here, I will be making the renovation soon to welcome the new chi. However, before seeking your advise on the renovation, I desperately need your advise on my bedroom as I am loosing sleep worrying about the arrangement. Let me apologise in advance if I am long-winded since I try to provide as much info as possible for you. Below are the info: 1) My apartment faces S1 based on my balcony; 2) My bedroom is located in the S3; 3) Bedroom entrance (NE), window (S), bedroom balcony door (SW) and the toilet with collapsible door (W-NW) Since my bedroom is small, previously, I pl…

More apologies! I seem to be having difficulty getting to know the site and the correct way to post - now my floorplan has become detached from my question! Please bear with me and let me repeat. I am Gua 2, my husband also (from Gua 5). Our (employer provided) house is period 7, SE 1 (122 degrees). My first concern is whether the external back hallway, shared with one neighbour upstairs (the house was originally built as one and later divided into two flats by creating our 'back door'), or whether I should treat it as a 'missing corner' in a U-shaped plan. My second concern is about the positioning of our bed. Our bedroom window is in the SW of the room and faces SW, bed…

Hi Cecil, Thanks for replying so soon! Really appreciate it. :) Yes, our main gate is actually made of wrought iron with those flowery designs that you usually see. Besides having a "shield" for the bottom portion of the gate, I heard some saying placing some sort of plant around the main gate or common staircase can also remedy the solution. Can you verify if it is true? As my husband is not receptive with the idea of having a shield. As for the dining table, we actually decided to have a water-feature wall erected separating the foyer and the dining room. So that people cannot peek while we are eating. I read somewhere saying that water should be flowing inwards to the …

Dear Fiona, Yes, it is OK to change the ground floor roof tiles. But, where possible, it should not leave the altar exposed as this is considered inauspicious (symbollically disrespectful to the "gods"). If the roof tiles on the second floor is dirty, than, this can be included as part of the means to try to fly to the next period. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecil, I am very new to Feng Shui and I have been reading books a looking at your site. I have a new roommate coming to live with me and as it is the start of a new year I need some advice, please? Should I move my bed to another area of the apartment as it is currently located in the three killings area for this year? The S is a good direction for me (although SE is my best location for door) and I don't know if there is a better location for me to sleep or a cure I could use. Would you please advise? Thanks. Joy

Dear Master Cecil, As I was going through the FLYING STAR CHART for my home where I had done the comparing chart between PERIOD 7 HOME under period 8 vs PERIOD 8 HOME under period 8.Obviously there were a few things which I feel to need to cross check and determine whether it is best to "transform" my home into PERIOD 8.Anyway, my home faces WEST 2 (270). FIRSTLY, NOTICE THAT MOST OF THE HOUSE BEDROOM SECTOR REPRESENT AUSPICIOUS COMBINATION IF REMAIN UNDER PERIOD 7 HOME.WHERE ESLE,IF PERIOD 8 NOTED STAR #5 #2 AND # 7 ARE THERE. SECONDLY,THE MAIN DOOR AREA AND CENTRE AREA UNDER PERIOD 8 HOME CONSIST AUSPICIOUS COMBINATION ESPECIALLY DOUBLE STAR # 8 ON THE MAIN DOOR AREA. T…

I am Gua 2, my husband Gua 2(5). We live in a period 7 SE1 house. A number of years ago, the landlord converted the house into two flats by installing a doorway in the middle. So, we enter into a square hallway, facing this door, which leads to a back hallway/staircase that leads in turn to the back door of the building proper. Essentially, these two halls divide the house in two, with bedrooms along corridors to the left (going in, SW side)and sitting room, kitchen, study to the right (NE side). The back hallway is shared with our one upstairs neighbour and as well as being our back entrance has the staircase leading up to his flat. My question is, do I include this back…

Dear Niap, Given that East Sector has WS7, vs NE with WS2, it would be more effective if the water position remain at East sector. Since WS7 can benefit with water. While NE with WS2 does not seem to benefit from a water position as there is already a BS1. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Irene, 1. Some Feng Shui practitioners felt that because, from 2004 onwards (for the next 20 years), it is governed by number 8. So, some practitioners say that it is good to have numbers with 8 in it. For example, as part of the handphone no. etc... 2. But honestly, if it is not so easy to find numbers that can come-out (strike) lottery. As it is based on probability or mathematics. 3. With regards to lucky charms and pendants, this is not really Feng Shui, but perhaps, part of "feeling good". 4. Some of feel good because, we have some money, do not know where to put it, but out of impluse, see something we like, we go buy it. 5. Human beings are just like that. Par…

Dear Master Cecil, I live in a 2 storey terrace link house. My front main door is facing left side, a high wall sharing with my neighbour which is 7 feet apart. Is this bad feng shui? Can I place a small water fountain here to face the main door (distance is only 7 feet) and also to reduce the bad effect of heavy metal as we usually park our car here. At the back of my house, there is a 4 storey building (40 feet apart from my backyard), there is a drainage between the 4 storey building and our backyard. The drain is very small but it was widen and deepen to avoid flood during heavy rain. So far, even is during heavy rain, we hardly see the water level raise above the sma…

Note Added by Cecil: For your question on how to change to Period 8, please make an effort to do a SEARCH in the forum for available information on it. Dear Sir, I am staying in a period 7 house with North 2/3 facing (appx 15 degree from North). I would like to know what do I need to do to change my house to Period 8 house? My main door faces North and what lies ahead in this coming period 8 for this house if I do not do anything. What are the remedies and how can I achieve good health and wealth for my family? My Kua is 8 and would this be a good year for me? Your response is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Dear Alice, In my Applied Feng Shui book, I had listed 3 methods of manually calculating the Gua (Kua) numbers. The reason why 5 is treated as 8 and 2 has to do with the rationale that it occupies the centre position which is the earth element. Thus under the Flying Star Feng Shui, this is why we have what is known as the #5 or Yellow earth (centre quadrant). Under the symbolic animal concept this yellow is represented by a Yellow snake. Under the Pa Che Compass School or Eight House or Flying Star Feng Shui:- 1 = Gua 1 (North) 2 = Gua 2 (South-West) 3 = Gua 3 (East) 4 = Gua 4 (South-East) 5 = Center Square (If male then the number = 2) (If female then the number = 8) 5 i…

Dear Amelia, 1. Yes, I personally feel that the arrangement is OK. 2. This is because, of many us who have children would be aware that when they sleep, they practically roll all over the bed in all directions. So let them be. 3. Don't rob them of their youth:) 4. On the issue of a double-decker bed. In the past, I had posted a message that in my opinion, there is no issue with a double-decker bed. The "misunderstand" arose because some FS practitioners claim that sleeping under a double-decker bed is no good. As it acts like a beam. But, let us look at it logically: 1. double-decker beds was not just invented this year or the last. It has been around for many, many yea…

Dear Master Cecil: I thank you a lot for your answer.Last year I placed a six hollow rod windchime hanging outside my bedroom.I also have a metallic clock in my bedroom as you suggested in a previous post, I also have six chinese coins attached to a red paper as a photo shows in the resource area and two chinese flutes on the wall with red cord( "to lift up" a slanting ceiling).Could this be inconvinient?.The bedroom is painted in a greenish tone.Shall I replace the wind chimes or shall I clean them with salt? Thanks a lot for your kind answer Carlos Miranda H. Santiago de Chile, Chile

Dear Regina, To side-track a little:- 1. The annual Five The annual #5 falls at the centrepoint of a home. If so, often, leaving it as a "clear space" or walkway is good enough. For those who are duly concerned with it. The rationale is that it would be quite silly to place e.g. a wind chime at this centrepoint. Since, either, most of the time - a regular wind chime, would not chime as much. Even if it does chime, in a home environment, it can get pretty uncomfortable - since - it can affect the welfare of family members e.g. those who need to study or pay attention to work or for sleep. 2. These three variable numbers are not favourable: since #3 affects work or work i…
