Dear Anon, 1. Besides the layout plan; another most important element is the flow of qi - into the house. 2. if there is a relatively clean / unpolluted lake, often, this is a plus point for various reasons. 3. A lake, close-by will often have another `secret' weapon in Feng Shui: trees and plants. And often, with such ecology; it will sustain life (animals or insects). And in many countries, some of these lakes are water catchment areas. 4. Thus, it may not be unnecessarily bad for a lake. 5. Sometimes, if our house has a patio or deck facing the lake; it may mean that this could instead be the frontage of the house. 6. Please note that not two situations are similar a…

Dear Tulip, Thank you for your sketch. Usually priority should be given to Shapes and Form Feng Shui. You can check out the two proposed layout plan and see if one of the layout suits your Kua number. Warmest Regards, Cecil

My right side of my bed is placed against a wall which has an electric stove behind. I'm aware that the energy created by the stove will have certain detrimental effects in the long run. How do I avoid this if that is the only available position for the bed (Able to view the entire room and best suited bed area with respect to my ming gua)?? Can I place a wind chime or crystal on the wall to separate the energies ?? Thanks in Advanced http://www.geomancy.net/wbimages/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

1. The scientic method is to use the Eight House (Ba Cai) or Eight Mansions to determine the best bed-head directions for your children. 2. What you had mentioned, has more to do with "commonsense" Feng Shui or commonly known as "Commonsense approach to Feng Shui". 3. Here, commonsense prevails. For example, often the Chinese don't want to place a bed-head or a bed close to a window for one or more of the following reasons:- 3.1 "Safety concerns" Imagine, living a ground floor unit or the bedroom is along a common housing board corridor. And if the window(s) are open, and if there is an inconsiderate or cruel passerby, they may even throw in a lighted cigarette butt …

Dear Judith, Where possible, avoid having the bed on the small wall as the toilet (especially the toilet bowl). The above is the `worst' case senario. There is not much you can really do, unless you change the position of the bed. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Pauline, 1. For a fountain, do not automatically regard the statemenst of North or SE for the placement of a fountain. 2. If your fountain is low level i.e. not more than 1 foot high, then it should be placed in a `clear space' area. The balcony area is the best choice for a fountain. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kem, You should make use of the three main theories: 1. Shapes and Form to look at the house and its surrounding. 2. Eight House to see how suitable, the house is to the bread winner. Plus take special attention to see the intangible force influencing the house. 3. You can check out www.geomancy-online.com as there is a Good House module. This was developed by us and so far, I have purchased three houses based on this module myself. Plus, I have generated it for every of my clients. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi Cecil, Need your advice on the position of the kitchen door. Is it advisable to have the kitchen door next to the main entrance. The stove is not directly facing the kitchen door. Any other considerations to taken into account for the position of the kitchen door? Also, can the kitchen door face the shoe cabinet? Thanks. Regards, Eunice

The position of our main door (North) is at the irritation sector for my husband but the excellent sector for me. Recently, my husband has experienced stress from him work. We are sleeping at the West sector (best of the worst) which is favourable to him, prosperity sector, but it is the disaster sector for me. We need your advise on how to improve the chi flowing in from the main door and how to reduce the work stress of my husband. Also, I have experienced sleepless nights and bad health after sleeping at the disaster sector. We cannot change the position of our bed as the rest of the sectors are unfavorable to my husband. Could we do something to improve our bedroom an…

Dear Chinnee, 1. Yes, the situation you face is considered as an external factor (out of one's control). 2. The key here is that since there is nothing much one can do based on the 4 good and 4 bad directions; we should thus avoid further `leaks' in the home. 3. This is much like human adapatability i.e. each of us have our weakness but, what matters most is to strenghten what we have left. In Feng Shui, it is the same. we should thus try to improve our OVERALL situation (perhaps) in other areas. And thus hopefully, increase our overall "examination marks". Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Peck Wun, Since you are considered the breadwinner, it is good for the stove to orientate a good position for the breadwinner. In such a situation, since you are a weak fire person, orientating the stove to the east is a good option for you. Since east facing represents wood element. Where wood element will help fire element to grow. However, it is important to take note of the following:- If your stove is facing east, and if it so happens that your main door is located at west, then, it is best to use stove knobs that face upwards i.e. towards the sky. And avoid having a stove with the knobs at the side of the stove facing west wards. However, if the main door is l…

I have being feeling uneasy after finding out that NW being Fire at Dragon"s gate is the worst direction to place the stove. Please advise.

Dear Elizabeth, In a classroom, priority should be given to the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui: 1. Usually a classroom is rectangular in shape. 2. Normally one side of the classroom has windows. The opposite side usually are the entry and exit points. 3. If the classrooms are airconditioned and there are blinds at the windows, it would still be best to arrange the tables tangent to the windows so as to avoid glare. If we use the above `formula', there is really not much we can change the placings of the tables (other than to avoid glare). The traditional placement of tables in uniform rows and columns is still the preferred method. As a teacher, one would have to sit…

Dear Elizabeth, As a guideline:- 1. The aquarium, most not be placed at the centre-point of the house. 2. Preferable that it should not be placed in the dining room. As you mentioned, it is acceptable to place the aquarium in the family room and on the `surface' it looks a sensible location to be placed. Where possible, if your house has an `L' shape configuration, symbolically, or through use of partition to `change' it to a square or rectangle shaped. This configuration is still the best. Dear Val, In my opinion, with the little information available, it is difficult for me to say exactly for sure if the house you intend to buy is good or not. As you are buying it for an investment; it will be good if the house has good/excellent Shapes and Form. And under Shapes and Form, usually the plot of land and its surroundings has to be surveyed first. After which, other Feng Shui concepts and theories should also be used to look at the interior of the home. For investment, sound financial considerations should be made such as how well the property can be rented out; its rent value etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, I believe or in my opinion, this dwells in superstition than Feng Shui. There is no mention of this in Feng Shui. Perhaps in a `grand mother's tale:) *JOKE* Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Some `Western Traditional' School of Feng Shui particularly those who practise Flying Star Theory have concern about the rotation of a metallic fan. To them, it circulates metal and their concern is that if a sector is out of balance and if metal is the catalyst, this is a `concern'. 2. In my opinion, looking at the commonsense approach to Feng Shui: Nowadays, many fans no longer have metal blades. And even if the blades are metallic does not mean that it generates `metal'. In view of the above, I personally feel that there should not be any cause for concern over the use of fans. I believe that they are a cheap and economical method of cooling a house. Th…

This is only a free GENERAL advice forum. What you are asking has more to do with:-http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Want_to_build_your_dream_home%3F Anonymous wrote: We are looking out topurchasing a new villa and were wondering which is the most auspicious direction of the house. We have liked a villa which has the main door towards the North East and were wondering if that is good. Dear Lawerence, Yes, your observations are correct. This is because, especially in a home, the location that has both water and fire element is the kitchen area. And there are many considerations, when water and fire is close-by! For example: 1. Compass School Feng Shui Many practitioners who apply the Compass School of Feng Shui is very much concerned with "Fire at Heaven's" gate. And under this concept, it is very bad luck to have the stove placed at this specific location e.g. NW sector of the home. And when analysing Flying Star numbers, some combination of Flying Stars may be very bad for stove placement. For example, the location that may have MS#9 with WS#6…

Dear Cecilia, Usually, I do not `verify' questions especially when a birthdate has been provided. At times, the question would be moved to the conference " Samples that will not receive a proper reply ". I hope you understand that, I not here to do all the homework i.e. someone furnish me a DOB and I have to first, do the calculations or pre-anlysis. Instead, quality time should be spent on analysis or provide advise based on all available information provided to me since there is only 24 hours a day. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. For those who are perhaps new or not too sure what questions would not be answered please browse thru the forum " Samples that will not receive a…

Dear Susan, For a stove, it is equally inauspicious if a water pipe runs directly (below) the stove especially if it is as close as 6 inches. In such a situation, it is best to divert the water pipe away from the stove so that it does not directly cross path with the stove. Where possible, the water pipe you mentioned should be `hidden' from view of the stove especially if this sector is the North of the house. If the location of the kitchen is at the South of the house i.e. standing at the centre and the kitchen is at the south, there is no issue with it facing the washing machine. Frankly, with regards to the washing machine, this is quite new to Feng Shui, and in my op…

Please see below:- Yes, ideally, your head should face one of your 4 good directions. For example, if the South is your Nien Yen, your head should face this direction. It is still best to sleep in your present room especially if this is only a `make shift' room and also if it is small. One point to note is that this room should have a window as it is not auspicious to sleep in a room without a window. Under the Eight Association or Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations, you can activate the South West corner of your room and (overall) in your South West corner of your house any `romantic' items e.g. a vase of rose; a valentine card, a photo frame of you and your…

Hi Master, I would like to seek your advise in the placement for the altar at my new home. The place that I have in mind is right beside the main door however as I was researching the altar placement online I came to understand from a few online articles and web postings that it may not be a good idea. I am envisioning a large altar right beside the door that will be custom made and according to the yin and yang calculations for both the main altar and the di tzhu kong altar below. Is it really a bad Idea to have the altar beside the main door? Look forward to your advice and thank you master. David King
