Dear Joji, It is like "sucking on" a baby's comforter. If it makes one more "comfortable", it is ok to hang one. Frankly no harm from it. But don't purposely hang one the size of an ostrich egg. If it falls and hits on one's head, can sure give an amnesia. Else, one may have to place a "HARD HAT" sign for anyone passing thru it. *JOKE* Basically, any material is acceptable (SO LONG) as it is reasonably priced. Better steel if it is cheap! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Actually, in my opinion, it depends. This is because, in Feng Shui, we often see homes on a hill. The advice here is that homes should not be on an extremely steep hillside. Often a gentler slope is preferred. In such a situation, we can imagine your question. Here, for some homes on a slope, we do notice that the opposite is true: the back of the house is higher than the front. Usually, in my opinion, it has more to do with the design of the home. The reason why it is very important in Flying Star Feng Shui to find out where the facing and sitting directions are has to do with how best we can tap beneficial qi into the home. In a few…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, the main concern here is the `T-junction' which is bad Sha Qi. This is quite a fundamental problem and (frankly) in my opinion very hard to cure. Some FS practitioner may advise placing a Ba Gua or cannons aimed at the road. One could perhaps try this. Stand at the main entrance door and check to see if the lamp post slice it. Or through a window. If it does, this is a poison arrow. You should also check the tree trunk does not slice towards the main door area. Yes, the main door can be slanted but you may have to consult a FS practitioner to do it properly i.e. on site and as mentioned by you check the Gua (Kua) etc... In my opinion, the items y…

Dear Anon, 1. Thank you for the description of the condo. 2. Your situation seems rather unique. 3. Frankly, there is no current reference to your situation i.e. whether it is good or bad Feng Shui to have an interior that is distinctively sloping. 4. The only parallel to your situation is that some Feng Shui practitioners have advised their clients to get their contractor doing the flooring to gently slope the floor in the living room i.e. from from the main door down towards the middle of the room. This is not obvious to the household. 5. The purpose is literally, with the hope to `catch' wealth. 6. In my opinion, this is just an idea and from past observations e.g. o…

Dear Julie, Frankly, there are lots of consideration in Feng Shui: 1. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. This is the most important consideration when picking a future house. For example, even if a direction is good to a breadwinner but if the Shapes and Forms is `lousy', it is as good as not finding a good home. 2. For homes that are more suited to you, you can try to use the Eight House Theory or find out more on how to use it:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm 3. For a plot of land, it is detrimental to make the house suit one e.g. by having the main door facing e.g. a hill - even if this is the most suitable door direction. This may bring calamity to the family. The ho…

Dear Marie, Frankly these are text-book examples of Feng Shui. Symbolically, 3-coins represent: 1. The number 3: represents the wood element. 2. The metal coins: literally mean metal element. Under the destructive cycle of the Five element concept: Metal destroys wood element to create `wealth'. Go around Feng Shui emporiums espeically internet Feng Shui stores and one will find lots of excuse to try to sell as many of these as possible. One may thus end up: Placing this three-coins under the floor mat, inside the ledger book, inside the cash register, inside one's wallet. Perhaps, the Feng Shui emporiums are laughing to the bank! One question asked: Since carrying the 3-…

Dear Dominique, 1. Frankly, there is no issue in working out two charts and looking at both. 2. However, try not to use the type of logic that you had mentioned below. 3. But instead, try to make sense of this:- 4. Many years ago, many houses were built under Period 6. But because, in 1984, Period 7 came into being. 5. Often, as an investigative Feng Shui; one can plot the chart for Period 6 and Period 7. In many cases, quite alot had experienced Period 6 (staying in that house for several years). 6. What these people do is to see if later on Period 6 or Period 7 houses closely resemble their current situation. 7. Going forward, what you can do is to do two charts and see…

Dear Anon, As mentioned earlier, it is illegal or it infringes copyright to simply "cut-paste" things like location maps without manually adding words like source and credit to the respective copyright owners. The easiest alternative is to create a hyper link to the source. For example:- http://www.streetdirectory.com.sg/map.jsp?x=19672.4172&y=36180.1755&postal=659879&building_name=CALTEX+SERVICE+STATION&house_blk_no=50&road_name=BUKIT+BATOK+EAST+AVENUE+3&heading=CALTEX+SERVICE+STATION%3CBR%3E50+BUKIT+BATOK+EAST+AVENUE+3%2C+SINGAPORE+659879 The above is an acceptable convention, as it will bring us to the exact site to view the layout plan. W…

Appended by Cecil : 1. Aerial map : where did you obtain it from? As there is no source and credit on it. 2. Street view: where did you obtain if from? Please respect other people's copyright / intellectual property. We considering purchasing this home we love for a great price - but itseems to be at a T junction. There is very light traffic on the streets and the door is located to the right of the house and faced diagnally to the right. Is this a bad house to buy? Is it possible to use Feng Shui techniques to make this home have positive Chi flow or should we stay away? The address is 2751. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, it is crucial to analyse not only the house but also do a general survey of the site where the house is situated. 2. This is because, many times, we forget about the external environment. It is like doing up a wonderful house to come home to. But everything else outside of the house may be "crumbling". This may be an extreme interpretation, but the interior of the house is just one of the many aspects of good Feng Shui assessment. 3. Sometimes, simple things like standing at the front of the main door and looking out to check for poison arrows. And in turn, stand at each window and look out of the house to check for poison arrow(s). Poison arr…

Dear David, 1. Water position includes: any fountain or fish tank. 2. In addition, colours such as blue, black or gray also represents water element. This is particularly so, for the interior of the home. 3. A water position outside of the house often is excluded under the above definition. Water position outside the house can be based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Shelly, Sorry, I don't understand here why you must counter the Metal. Even if you are say a weak wood, it is not necessary to be so specific and get rid of all Metal objects. You will need a little of all elements in your life (good or bad elements). What you need is to balance everything else. This means that for example if you are a weak wood. Then simply enhance yourself by wearing more Water based element colour that will help offset the balance. If you are refering to East bing Wood element direction or influence, and that the Metal will disturb it, I think you have nothing to worry as the objects when compared to directional influence, is of no great importanc…

Dear Stan, In my opinion, each animal belongs to a certain set of element. For example, next year has two relationships: 1. Metal Monkey 2. in the Wood Year (2004). Under such circumstances, often, many practitioners will apply the Five elements concept to see how well the "Metal Monkey" fit or not-fit with the Wood year. And as many of are aware, the Five Elements concept is prevalent and the most applied concept, to troubleshoot or explain things (be it a year, a month etc..) But what is most interesting is that some FS practitioners perhaps, want to have "fame" and would try to predict certain events next year. If one analyse their "predictions" closely, many will ch…

Dear Teresa, Can I confirm whether you are drawing a bagua based on fixed template or using e.g. the Eight House Theory (sample format as shown under http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm ) For significance of missing corners, you can review them at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/building.htm ). Do note that sometimes, it may not necessarily be a `missing corner' but instead, a sector may be a protusion. If you have a sketch of your layout plan (to scale); you can attach it to the forum and I can try to find out the centrepoint. You can then use this point to place e.g. your Eight House Template on it. Do note that under the Eight House Theory, if one does not spent time at …

Dear Jen, From what you have written, there are basically two types of exit: 1. Entry/exits of "convenience" 2. an exit to fullfil a statutory requirement e.g. fire safety 1. Entry/exits of "convenience" ==================== As you have mentioned, often, many have a garage. And for ease of entry and exit to the garage an "exit" or entry door is located in this area towards the home. In addition, many homes do have a backdoor - to allow human activities at this location e.g. bringing out garbage, hanging or drying clothes etc... 2. an exit to fullfil a statutory requirement e.g. fire safety +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sometimes, an exit has to be built to …

For the new year I have earth star eight in my northeast living room. My base star is 9, the mountain star is 7 but the water star is two. What enhancements can I use for 8 that will also negate the bad influence of the 2? Would judicious use of fire elements drown out the two?

Dear Suzanne, Under the Eight House theory, there is really nothing much one can do especially if one's bed (rather than bedroom) is at a specific sector. Ideally it would be nice to have the bed located at one of the 4 good sectors but this is not possible for some of us. There are other considerations and most importantly: 1. Shapes and Forms. The placement of the bed should conform to the above. Especially where the bed should (where possible) be placed against a wall and opposite of the bedroom door. There are other considerations under Shapes and Forms. 2. Flying Star analysis. If one's concern is e.g. the `spook' sector at the bedroom; it would be good to try to ch…

Dear Anon, 1. Try to do a SEARCH in this forum for " World Trade " - as I had posted something about it earlier. Avoid using " Centre " or " Center " as I often use the British form of Centre instead of the American form of Center. I believe for most of those who died at the world trade centre, many perish with the aviation fuel/flame. In most part, the World Trade Centre tragedy is mostly of cremation or nearly everyone perish - ashes to ashes. I strongly believe for sometime; at least, or a section of the site could become a memorial. Else, if we look into documentaries on Discovery, there were documentaries of `ghosts' at Gettysburg (USA), many other sites su…

Dear Cecil and/or Robert: Happy New Year! My house is SW2, P7. I'm aStrong Water(70%) with West (excellent), NE (longevity), SW (health), NW (prosperity) directions. Since 2008, I've slept and worked in the direction that's good for me (according to my house's flying star for that year). In 2008, I slept facing NE (which was the bestsector for 2008) and I had a good year. In 2009, I slept facing SW(which was the bestsectorfor 2009)and had an OK year. Accoding to the 2010 flying star for my house, W is the bestsector and NE and SW are average sectors. So I've slept facing West since 2/14/2010. Realizing that W is metal which is not very good for astrong water, so I've b…

Dear Miriam, In my earlier e-mail, I mentioned that this may not be a `luxury' for many of us. For example, when we do a survey or an audit for a company; if it is a reasonably large business that may occupy an entire floor or many floors; a professional geomancer looks at: 1. Since the entire floor is empty; the best location can be chosen for say the CEO and his/her deputies anywhere on a floor. This selection takes into account factors like Flying Star of the entire floor or a 360 degree analysis of the entire floor. And the same goes for crucial areas such as Reception, Marketing/Sales, R and D, Board room, Finance/Accounts, etc... The purpose is to try to fit variou…

Dear Oliv Sillivan, To avoid lawsuits, you have to check out where is the Lu Chun Xing (Star 3 - Wood) under the flying star analysis. If there are such stars present in areas such as your main door, frontage, bedroom or study room which you use. These are the stars you want to neutralise so as to reduce any such lawsuits/conflicts. The solution is to have more Metal.Fire is also possible so long as there is no Star 2/5 present. These are the stars normally associated with the Lawsuit issues. However, beside that, we always advise users to do a full assessment of your home, check out whether there are any major leaks such as:- 1. House is death / disaster to the occup…

Dear Anon, Please see below:- It would be ideal if bougainvillaes are not planted especially if it has lots of thorns sticking out. For me, I do have a pot of bougainvilla but, I specially chosen one with genetically smaller thorns. So far, there is no, concrete evidence to say whether plants with thorns are bad. All we ever hear is that this are bad. But, as I had mentioned, there is no concrete evidence to say for sure whether it is auspicious or inauspicious. But from my opinion, for bougainvilla plants, there should not be a major issue since: 1. it is even worse if this plant or tree has a solid trunk (that slices into the window area or planter box). 2. Bougainv…

Dear Phua, Please see below: Frankly, I personally feel that plants are ok. I feel that this is kind of a hearsay information. Since miniature bamboo is very popular today: very easy to maintain or nearly no maintenance at all - since it can strive on just a layer of water - easy to fill the container. Look at it this way, cactus have torns so even more "pointed" than this tiny plant. If you are simply looking at it from a Shapes and Forms perspective, than often, it should be placed in the living room - "to be enjoyed". For Flying Star Feng Shui sectors that has water star #8 *current wealth sector* or water star #6 (metal sector) or water star #7 (neutralising t…
