Dear Evelyn, With the little information provided, it is difficult for me to give you proper advise. Usually, if one practises or applies sector Feng Shui; may have to use personal feelings i.e. not because; of `Feng Shui' related reasons but simply because one `fell in love' with an object of decoration e.g. metal windchime and wants to place it. Here, one may have to use personal feelings to see where it can be placed in the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Normally, 6 ancient coins are used to `exhaust' a bad Five Earth element or to destroy the Wood. I can quite understand the Five coloured beads as these usually represent the Five elements. As for a small bell and the Five Chinese coins (minus the tassel - which is considered `insignificant'), I cannot really comment on these other than if one considers the number 5. Here, I believe, it is more a decorative piece to symbolise the number 5 rather than to represent 5 " Metal ". As a general guideline, if one do not know what to do with it, then avoid hanging it. As the saying goes better safe than sorry. Warmest Regards, Ceci Lee

Dear Santosh, In my opinion, and the many audits done locally, the placement of shoe rack is only of secondary importance or really not a major issue for most of us. Although, some FS practitioners may feel that there is lots of `hipe' in wanting less clutter or felt that `bad qi' if one places shoes/sandals or shoe rack at the front main door. In Feng Shui audits mainly by professionals, assessment is usually based on using the Compass School and particuarly the Shapes and Form of the site and the home. Which is considered the `bigger' picture. Already, within these two schools of FS, there are really so much assessment to be made here. For the garbage bin, especially fo…

Dear John, In my opinion, statues are more like decorative pieces and dwell on beliefs rather than Feng Shui. If one looks at beliefs, normally, it is placed firstly as a decoration at a location you personally feel comfortable with. Some Chinese family run (small) shops do tend to display either a figurine of it in their shops or just a picture of it. In my opinion, you can `play safe' by following the `standard' Chinese beliefs: 1. Do not place it in your bed room. As a bedroom is considered a `dirty' place i.e. you take off your clothes to change etc... 2. Do not place it on the same wall as the toilet. 3. Do not place it side by side with other Chinese deities such as…

Dear Anon, My frank advise is that if one is really not sure where to place such objects or have no idea whether it is auspicious to do so, try not to place it. It is better to have a `clean', clear and clutter free environment than placing the unknown. On the `commonsense' approach, (other than Feng Shui), how often must one change the water. For those who stay at areas where there is mosquito, will it breed mosquitoes. Here, it is best not to "feel" that I have something I feel useful, I want to `utilize' it. It may do more harm than good. I guess, if one really wants or yearn to place such a configuration, would have to go with one's feeling. Let me elaborate further …

Dear Carlos, 1. In my opinion, this may not be the correct way to solve your problems. 2. A Ba Gua mirror is often used to either: 2.1 Ward of evil and/or 2.2 Neutralise Sha Qi (poison arrows). (For example, a house located at a `T' junction. 3. Often, it is placed outside the main entrance door or above the window of a house. 4. Otherwise, it is best to check out what is wrong i.e. are there any leaks externally or internally in the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

I recently bought a Mansionette or HDB EA flat. My parent, my wife and I got different opinion of putting our altar. My altar will be custom make around 2000-2400mm wide, 2550-2600mm height and 500-600mm depth. We pray to Dua Pek gong with wen Wu Pang guan and my ancestor My parent got opinion from er ye bo to put it at the stair facing main road, east south area. My wife got opinion from her brother in law who got some knowledge of Feng Shui. He advised her to put the altar either at the wall facing balcony (north east) or window facing entrance ( south west) My thinking is to put either near stair doing a new wall facing opposite block wall (south west ) …

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Hi, i have a question regarding the placement of my family photo in my living room. Currently, my family photo is placed on a wall in my living room which is facing the entrance to my kitchen, which also faces the windows in the kitchen (the windows of a normal kitchen ina HDB flat). Please remove it from the current location. It is extremely bad luck to face the family photo facing the kitchen because the kitchen got lots of knife and forks etc which is like cutting the family. Dear Anon, 1. If one hires a Feng Shui practitioner who practises (Ren Cai) or Human/Man luck Feng Shui, more often, a fountain is placed close to the main entrance door area. 2. But, honestly, the placement of a fountain comes under the following considerations:- 2.1 It is not advisable to have a fountain - especially if the breadwinner is a weak fire or strong water person. As a water position can overwhelm the weak fire or extinguish his weak fire. If one is a strong water person, too much water can also overwhelm him/her. 2.2 What is the actual purpose of a fountain? 2.2.1 If one is living on a landed property, a water position especially at the frontage does help. Th…

Dear John, John Low wrote: Where is the best place to put my small fish tank? The best place to put water feature to activate your water wealth for your flying star would be where your auspicious water star is found. This means that if your house is a period 7, then the sector containing the water star 7 (is your current prosperity for a period 7 house), and star 8 is your future prosperity, while 9 is your future future prosperity. So if a water feature is placed in the sector containing the waters star 7/8, this would be your two best sector to activate your wealth based on your flying star. Generally, in a house the fish tank is usually best placed in like the livi…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Please can you advise me on where to install my water feature. The best place to place a water feature that is auspicious for Feng Shui is to find where your water wealth location is within your house. For example, a Period 8 house, the current wealth is star 8, future wealth is star 9 and future future wealath is star 1. For period 7 house, the current wealth is star 7, future wealth is star 8, future future wealth is star 9. etc. So sectors where these 3 star is located are he better sectors within the house to place the water feature so as to activate the water wealth luck. My husband loves pointy leaved plants and has a few he wants to be brought into the house. Currently, they are in our greenhouse, but I'm reluctant to bring them in. Is there area, where a large spikey leaved plant would work well? There are no thrones, but the leaves are thin and pointy. "spikey"

1. Usually for such a question, it needs more indepth analysis. However, you did mentioned that the aquarium is at Northwest corner of the office. 2. Under the trigram, NW is = the head (male) of the household and thus affects your husband. NW is also where one of the most important trigrams in the modern ba gua chart = Heaven luck. 3. Since we do not have detailed information to work on, it is best to remove especially the most recent water feature. And avoid placing any more such things. Stella W. wrote: Onlyafew weeks later, my husband got layed off. This puts us in a very tough financial situation since I am staying home with our 1 year old. I am wondering if the…

Dear Molly, 1. Under the Feng Shui concept `if it no longer can be seen, it no longer becomes a " threat ". This principle can also be applied to the gas cylinder. 2. Usually, it is kept away from the bedrooms either next to it or directly below a bedroom. 3. Generally, it is advised that the cable is not too long or placed too far from the source (if possible). 4. If the tank is `concealed' or placed in a cabinet, then, place it like any other liquid e.g. a water heater in such a location. Thus safety would be a primary concerned when compared to `Feng Shui'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Vicki, 1. There are two major theories/concepts to refer to on the placement of water positions. 2. The two major concepts are:- 2.1 Shapes and Form Feng Shui Here, it would depend on the type of water position. If the water position is flat e.g. a ground level pond e.g. for koi fish etc... than this can be represented by `clear space'. But if it is a fish tank, usually the fish tank is tall with leg stand, than it cannot represent `clear space'. `Clear space' is akin to a bird flying freely infront ... unobstructed. Usually water positions that provide clear space are especially good at the frontage of the home. While fish tank should be placed against a wall. Hong…

Here are some of the major considerations:- 1. Avoid hanging the photo (portrait) sharing the same wall as the toilet. 2. Avoid hanging the portait facing the toilet. 3. Try not to have the photo facing the main door. 4. Try to avoid having the portrait facing the dining table. 5. Avoid placing the portait in any "persons" bedroom. 6. If it is placed in a study or an EMPTY bedroom, place it close to or next to the window. But make sure that the sun does not shine directly onto the portait. 7. Avoid hanging the portait at the "end" of the hallway. 8. Avoid hanging it sharing the same wall as the stove or facing a stove or facing kitchen utensils such as knifes, forks (s…

Dear Bless, For a mirror in the bedroom, the most favourable place is on your dressing table provided the dressing table is not facing your bed. It can be from the level of the dressing table and it should not `cut-off' part of your head. Therefore, the mirror need NOT be of full height from " tip to toe ". The mirror should also not face the toilet door, such that when you come out of the toilet and see can the mirror. Mirror must also not be placed above the headrest of your bed set. You can place the mirror below a window again, it is best to place the mirror on your dressing table (which does not face your bed). Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee -----Original Message----- Fr…
