Dear Kenneth, 1. Frankly, hopefully the abacus is not too large! Else imagine usually we have a desk-top PC and other work items on our work-table. 2. And such things may take up too much of the real-estate on our desktop. 3. Furthermore, it is much more difficult or not feasible to sub-divide a "tiny" area such as a worktable into eight sectors. 4. But, if you must insist, usually, the Sheng Qi (chi) sector is one's Prosperity or Excellent sector. 5. A more reasonable approach but even so, may not be achievable is to sit facing one's prosperity and/or excellent sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Forum Users, Usually, under conditions of YIN, there may be " playfull imps " or spirits. They usually mean no harm to anyone but can bad cause "nightmares." Medium sized to large trees plus additional things like a wind chime may increase the YIN at such locations and attract such playfull imps to be around. Too many concentration of trees are considered a too YIN environment. For the benefit of new members here, my next door neighbour's bungalow has at least a minimum of 5 or more wind chimes located at the West or YIN location. This means that the likelyhood that one can get `mental problems'. True enough, this next door neighbour always carry around a video camer…

Dear Anon, Another area, you can look at or minimise miscarriages is to check whether there is a #5 (misfortune) especially in your bedroom. You can generate the free flying star report and check if #5 is in the bedroom where you are staying in. (In a more advanced level the 81 combinations of the two stars may give a clue as to the type of problems which may be associated with miscarriage) If so, #5 or #2 (sickness) should be appropriately neutralised. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Julie, 1. It is good to first use the Eight House Theory to look at the house in relation to the breadwinner's suitability to the house e.g. what is the intangible force at the main entrance door or any other alternative main doors. Next look at the intangible force at the main entrance door. 2. Under the Shapes and Form School, since you house has four levels, where best particularly the toilets should not be above such areas as the bedroom, kitchen (especially the cooking stove), living room or above the main entrance door. 3. The optional method is to use the Flying Star Theory (which can be applied to all four floors) to check out auspicious and inauspcious secto…

Dear Reyla, 1. How long have you been staying in this house? 2. Are you facing financial distress? 3. Overall, there are two major Shapes and Forms `handicap' for this home: 3.1 Please refer to marking `A'. ================================ In addition to the toilet at the centrepoint of the home; another further problem is that the centrepoint or the centre-of-gravity for this home does not have clear space. Here, qi from all areas of the home cannot congregate or meander at this centrepoint or `flux'. Often, if one stays in such a home for more than 2 or 3 years, one can feel the impact of financial problems. Since qi cannot effectively flow `about' in all directions. 3.…

I have a similar problem. My best direction is east (3), but there is not really enough room in the bedroom to do this (leaves only about 15 inches to walk at the foot of the bed). Room is n-s longest, but window is on north, where head of bed would go; master bath is on south wall; built in closet on west wall. How do I remedy north head of bed? Or should I just remedy the small walking space at the foot of the bed, with head of the bed east instead?

Dear K Chin, K Chin wrote: Since the shape of objects affect the luck, health and wealth of a person or apartment, do the shape and the color of a sofa have any effect on luck orhealth ? In general, you have to always rank what is important. ie. If in a room, then the colour of the room and the key furniture colours will affect the overall feng shui of the room. The other smaller objects will play only a smaller role. Therefore, generally the colour of the sofa will play the greatest influence for the element of the sofa, followed by the material and the shape of the sofa. We want to know if we need any feng shui cures for our new home. See attached image. We are not directly in line to the road, but are slightly to the side of it. Any cures, remedy, or protection advice?

Thanks Plum Blossom. I have done the rounds of our very tiny Chinatown with no luck. I managed to find one store where I bought his entire stock of coins and that was only 60. But I am now after the more unusual shaped one..the chances of which here in Perth are almost non existent. Thanks again for your input. Glyn

Dear Nancy, Thanks for your kind words. In my opinion, majority of us do not really need " Feng Shui ". (Take the case of the less fortunate). In fact, many of us are able to have a happy and wholesome life. It is what makes us special:) Usually, in today's world, questions asked are: If one is often sick quite often or face severe hardships or `calamity', could use proper FS investigations to look into what's wrong. Thus, it is always my belief that if it `ain't broken don't fix it. Many of us are able to use our `sixth sense' or even `accomodate' ourselves i.e. blend in with our surroundings .... Warmest Regards, and have a happy life:) Cecil

These are some considerations: 1. A FLAT / APARTMENT This may be aa catch-22 question if it is an apartment or flat: as the facing direction can be interpreted in "many" ways: some geomancers say: stand inside the main door looking outwards; others the facing of the building or stack and/or the "face' is where the most yang energy comes in. If so, for an apartment: sometimes even the main door or front door may not necessarily be the facing direction. Thus, changing the main door may not be correct. 2. LANDED PROPERTY 2.1 For a landed property; in my opinion; majority of the time (especially in Singapore) where homes are back to back; it is highly unlikely that the "face"…

Joanne Books are considered like "knives" in Feng Shui. The ones in your storage room are not a problem, but I would remove those from beside your bed or cover them at night. As for the ones in the hallway, perhaps you could put some small pot plants with trailing branches among the shelves to soften the sharpness or a couple in a pot on the ground to somewhat "hide" the shelves. Cecil can no doubt give you more info. However, the former is what I have done in my study. Best wishes Glyn

Dear Suzhen, Apologise for the delay in reply. Currently I am unable to do any more house audits for the time being because of my schedule and projects for the website. Perhaps, you may want to get assistance from other Feng Shui Practioners in Singapore. Due to my tight schedule, I am unable to provide assistance in your case or go thru them in detail. What you have analysed using the Eight House Theory is not enough to find out your various `problems'. This is because the Eight House Theory is not a `diagnostic' tool of Feng Shui. More refined tools that can aid a better understanding or improve your situation includes the anaysis of your house using the Flying Star and…

Dear Mecury, Please read below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Monday, May 31, 1999 5:07 PM Subject: bedroom in between the wall & the headerboard, is that ok? This is not good in anyway, because there is no support for the bed. The bed should be "anchored" to the wall, and not left as an island in the room. sound ridiculous, but it really makes me wonder). I do know of these affecting the Mountain and Water Star. The magentic and sound disturbance does create such influence normally with the inauspicious stars especially. However, without the details it is pretty difficult to tel…

Dear Kyra, For sha qi or poison arrows, the main concern would be whether, the poison arrow is aimed directly towards the main entrance door or the window(s). Based on your brief description, looks like the Shapes and Form of this house is not that favourable. Initially, try to see, by standing at the main entrance (looking out) and from the various windows of your home to check for poison arrows. If there are poison arrows, do try to `protect' these locations. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Products are often "Bull-shit" 1. For many of us, if we look back to our grandparents "time" or even "parents" time, there were no such thing as "crystals" or many of the newly invented objects or items "in-the-name" of Feng Shui. Thus most of these products, aim to extra money from our pockets ... and as a result line the pocket of the sellers. 2. Many of these products do not come with a guarantee card that; for example, after purchasing it e.g. the three-legged-toad; one would instantly win a lottery etc... Far from it. The seller got it made in China for a few Chinese Yuan money and sell them at high mark-ups! Warmest Regards, Cecil

In my opinion: 1. I personally feel that even in exactly the same career; it can differ in element. Why? 2. It has more to do with the individual who takes on with the job. 3. For example: I would interpret Singapore's First Prime Minister job function as more to do with Wood element. While Singapore's current or 3rd Prime Minister more of a water element. 4. Why? 5. The First Prime Minister is in my opinion, full of vision and although all Prime Ministers are orchestra conductors; the first PM is able to fully make use of his team: and make substantial growth of the country = Wood element. And on occassions, make tough decisions = Fire element. 6. The current 3rd Prime M…

Dear Cam, Since the home is in escrow, do what you already. If you are applying Feng Shui principles, then the most important is firstly to check for any "threats" aimed towards the home such as a lone lamp-post slicing owards e.g. the main entrance or windows. Space-clearing is another commonsense approach to Feng Shui i.e. do not overly clutter the home, garage with too many boxes and storeaways etc... If you are still into Feng Shui, then take your time to understand key concepts like: Shapes and Forms Compass School : Eight House (like what you are doing) and if possible chart out a Flying Star chart of your home. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: cam tran wrote: …

Dear Anon, Please see below:- For the Chinese, it is preferable that the ceiling fan where possible is not black. White or gold is fine. Do you find it uncomfortable? If so, you may like to change it. Purple represents the Fire element and it would normally depend on your Ba Zi. For a room, unless one has a need for the `Fire element' e.g. if a person is a weak wood person and staying in the room, can use the `Fire' element to help his/her weak wood to grow. Warmest Regards, Cecil
