1. The act of giving shoes is a tradition in China, much like the custom of avoiding giving clocks or bells as gifts. 2. However, considering these shoes are "old", there may be some flexibility in how we perceive them as gifts. It could be seen more as a kind gesture rather than a traditional gift. 3. For individuals of other ethnicities, this may not be a concern, as there is no obligation to adhere to customs of a different culture. 4. I recall a time, many years ago, even in a predominantly Chinese community, where there was a promotion to purchase a new pair of branded sports shoes at a discount by bringing in an old pair to either recycle or donate to…

Dear Master Cecil, I belongs to the west group which currently my apartment main door is facingnorth and the living room is facing east while my master bedroom is south east. I am constantly feeling giddy, headaches and uncomfortness especially in the nights when i sat in the living room, regularly sensing chilling air in my living and bedrooms(SW). Also our family members doesnt seems to be accomodating well with each other as lots of quarrels happens. Kitchen is located in NE. The facing of my living room ( East ) is facing a "T" junction+ electrical lamp post while i stay on the 12th floor, does that matters? On the opposite site, was 2 big tall building with a wal…

1. Priority is based on "Rule of thumb". Often, once we have viewed a room or bedroom; we have a feel of how we would like to place the bed(s). 2. The report should be considered as "NICE-to-HAVE" and not a "MUST-have". 3. Thus: Go for Para 1, first.

1. Please ponder over this " Rome is not built within a day". 2. And if applying Holistic Feng Shui is as easy as placing an amulet or just replied to another question of using a Ba gua mirror to attract qi - this is ridiculous! 3. Might as well wait for money to fall from the sky. 4. These are some of the Key Success Factors in D.I.Y. Feng Shui 4.1 Some of these concepts need understanding and some are strategies to better DIY Feng Shui:- * Fast Food Feng Shui * Feng Shui Triage * Fix-the-Leak, First! * Situational Approach * The Concept of Maximizing Marks * The Concept of Feng Shui by Exception * The Customer Engineer Concept * The Three-Step-Approach * T…

Frankly, I really don't quite get your question. But if a toilet is directly above a bedroom; then best to locate where is the sewerage pipe (and it's ancillary pipes). The best one can do is not to sleep directly below this piping (usually covered by a gypsum board. And also avoid sleeping next to the piping or if it is running below the bed; bed it. Otherwise, there is no miracle cure: i.e. either it is there or it is not there: On or off. (full stop). Anonymous wrote: Dear Master One of the bedroom is located below first level, and there is a small toilet room located in the corner, just before heading to downstairs. How to block the bad Qi that comes from the toile…

1. Frankly, you must have a misconception of a Ba Gua (Pakua) mirror. 2. Do you really know what actually the ba gua mirror is (are) used for? 3. Traditionally, for the Chinese it is used under two main reasons : 3.1. Ba Gua mirrors with the 8 trigram markings on the outside with or without mirror is meant to scare away "evil spirits". There are many variants including those with the twin door gods, and all types of mirror or non-mirror in the middle of this ba gua. 3.2. To deflect sha qi or poison arrow. And the concave one is to "replace" the missing corner.

Generally any commercial non Feng Shui conCAVE mirror may be used if one cannot find those "Feng Shui" type of conCAVE mirror(s). Any mirror so long as it curves inwards is acceptable especially if the mirror is greater than 2 inches or more.

1. In the layout plan, as the bedroom / proposed study room door opens (at the side of that bedroom/study), Layout 2 is acceptable. 2. It is only personal feelings that we cannot immediately see someone coming into the room; otherwise Layout 2 is acceptable. 3. From a Shapes and Forms point of view, Layout 2 is better. As you had mentioned: by placing the two tables against both sides of the wall, this would bring several advantages: a. more spacious and easier movement b. easier cleaning c. visually looks more pleasing to the eye. Anonymous wrote: Generally, I'm more pro towards layout 2 but my husband is worried about his back facing the door. Actually, can we clarif…

1. The Eight House or East / West Group is based on the premise of either spending time at a sector and/or also nice-to face a good direction. (Full Stop). 2. One should not drag this concept into other situations as what you are trying to "drag it down to". 3. Thus activating say a SW sector has no association with the above. 4. Anyway, what you are trying to apply is "static" Feng Shui that does not take into account time dimensions. 5. A far more professional approach is to apply time dimension in Feng Shui. 5.1 For example;to draw up a Flying Star chart and in-particular; try to disarm #3. And if possible activate Mountain Star #8 and Water Star #8. 5.2 #3 re…

Dear Master Cecil, Once again thanks for the information provided. About the internal well its a big gamble so long as the exterior can be remedied at least there is a chance. Its no point if the exterior is a lost case and one were to purchase the property. Interior well only god knows and if only money grows on tree then there wouldn't be any problem as renovation could be done. Am only a salaried worker so hope that the business aspect would not have too much trouble for me or my partner. There is surely a drainage behind the property and if I am not mistaken its not too big... just a small drain and both the sides (back lane) are lock. If one were to open the door at…

1. It depends:- 1.1. If the car garage is at the Basement or below street level: where it was dug into the ground; then not counted:- Basement (if your garage is at this level) Street Level = #01-xx 2nd storey(If your garage is at street level) = #02-xx 1.2. If the car garage is at Street Level, then the car garage (area) = #01-xx; while your unit, say on the 2nd storey = #02-xx. Please see attachment. Note: Not many apartments are greater than #99 storey's high. And the Flying Star House (Apartment) Report: does not look at apartments below ground level.

1. I believe you are trying to avoid moving in after the Chinese 7th lunar month beginning from 20 August 2009. 2. Thus, I also feel that continuing with the renovation is considered as a lesser of the two. 3. The plus point is that the activites you had describe is nothing new or serious: "such as polishing of floor, painting of house, toilet renovation, etc". Such activites are also done by many others present and past who had stayed in a home for quite some time. 4. Thus, in my opinion, all these activities that you had described are OK. Just that do take note of locations based on the Tai Sui and Five Yellow and Three Killings location for the year. Reference: htt…

Sorry, this is a side-track from Feng Shui: For those starting or evaluating going into a business; should read and understand Michael E Porter's : Porter's Five Forces:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porter_five_forces_analysis This is one of the best models for Strategic Planning of a new or existing business.

1. For simple no frills; method of finding out compatibility:- http://www.lovesigns.net/horoscope/acompare/acompare.htm The above is based purely on the Chinese Zodiac signs. This isa very general method as it analyses only the YEAR of one's birth. And it is compared to both parties (or even partner's) YEAR of birth. This type of compatibility is like two countries going to war:- For example: It is like one country flying propellar plans that can only fly up to 400 mph and the other more advanced country flying any jet plane. A jet plane can easily reach Mach 1 or Mach 2 (twice the speed of a bullet). 2. Using Ba Zi analysis 2.1. Minimium data required : Year, Month…

Many Thanks Master Cecil. I think it is all clarified now. About your statement number 5...No need to worry, we live in a place where people do not even have a slightidea about Feng Shui principles...Few Chinese people live in our locality and every amulets (cures) we hang or place in our vicinity were thought of as mere ornaments. I'm a believer of white Feng Shui and hard work...I try to be at one and in balancewith our surroundings. Morepowerand many blessings always...

1. If you have pictures of both sides would be good. 2. Majority of homes have 4 sides. If it is standalone home (bungalow) then 4 sides. If it is a semi-detached home than 3 sides to consider as the "facing" direction. For terrace home only 2 sides. 3. Often, if the "back" of the home has the washingarea/ washing machines, kitchen (wet and or dry) and rooms said as spare, guestor maid'sroom and toilets; then most likely, this area standing inside the home facing out of this areais not the"facing" direction". 4. Facing direction shouldoften preferably to "light" airy and bright. No need to measure windows, a visual look of how many openings and how much light comes in …

1. Frankly, there are so many unknowns; on such a simple question. 2. For example; in order for wealth leak; it starts from even simple things as : Location, location and location. 3. Even if the toilet at the center-point is considered a leak; often in order to have things like wealth leak(s); usually a home would most likely have at least THREE major leaks. 4. We all know that if we live in an apartment, there is no (like the British say "no bloody" way) thatwe move the toilet/ it's plumbing etc... 5. Thus for practical reasons, try to find other "wealth leaks" especially major ones and fix them. Then one will have a higher success rate. 6. But a real pity is that…

五黄 Wǔhuáng Frankly, like time, we cannot go back to reverse it. Just cross your fingers and hope for the best. Mary T. wrote: I recently had some renovations done at my north and northeast sectors and there were hacking and noise created during the midst of it. I realise these sectors are afflicted by the annual/mthly afflictions of 5yellow and taisui. I notice things have not been going smoothly in my household and although I have all the remedies in store, things are still happening one after another because july/august has the double 5 and 3 in these sectors. Please advise if there is anything I can do after the renovation is complete so that thin…
