Dear Paris, Parc Oasis Site Plan 1. In my opinion, if the price is right, it may be considered. 2. From a Feng Shui point of view, these are "point" block units and relatively safe design. Majority of the units also has its main door coming into a "display" wall area - and not directly facing the window area. 3. Of course, the most attractive reason is due to it's close proxmity to the MRT (walking distance). And it is at the cross-road towards the start of PIE from Jurong Town Hall / and convenience to the business park as well as close proximity to IMM. A more popular or direct route would be to the ever busy or one of the busiest round-the-clock Jurong West Point shopping centre @Boon Lay. I am always amazed by the huge queues at the POSBank Branch as well as the large pedestrian traffic all day round this complex. 4. In my opinion, some of the units are better than the recently launched Lakeview condo. Yet this condo does have units that are very close proximity to the mrt track. 5. As mentioned, if the price is reasonable, it can be considered especially for those who have parents living near-by e.g. Jurong East area /and even slightly further Jurong West area. Most of the time, a very general date is the 1st lunar and/or the 15th lunar month of any months other than Qing Ming or the 7th month. Dear Earl, Please see below:- 3. Nowadays, not many people can afford to make-to-measure furniture such as readily available tables (dining / living / study / work ) tops. 4. Again, many of us do not have the luxury of employing "an imperial carpenter" who in the past, have all the time to make-to-measure furniture. 5. Nowadays, frankly, it does not often matter if all or any of our common furniture need to be auspicious under the Feng Shui ruler or not. 6. However, for the Chinese, the most important furniture to look out is the altar (family altar or altar to place a god e.g. Goddness of Mercy etc..) Otherwise, it is less important issue especially if the furniture is mass produced. 5. On your question of Plants 5.1 Yes, generally all or most plants could be considered as a wood element. Unless, it has a distinctive colour such as a "red" plant or a plant with a specific major colour other than green or brown. 5.2 The major distinction of plants are the catus category or plants that have spines or spikes. Often, there are recommendations to place / or not to place such plants. 5.3 Anyway, if one is too free or has really nothing better to do; can with the knowlege of the Five Elements classify plants as under either / or:- 5.4 Element:- ========= Metal Fire Water Earth Wood 5.5 Reference: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm 5.6 For example, plants that have a circular shaped flower, this flower can be considered as belonging to a metal element since it is circular or round in shape. Retiree? Retrenched? As I mentioned earlier, if one is too free, than by all means go and identify each variety of flowers and plants. In your case, based on your limited information, it would seem that the facing direction should be North as opposed to NW (main door direction). Do check out the above information. Often, many business should depend on it's strategic model and built on it's key success factors in order to both survive and grow. 3. In my opinion, looks like you have a better success rate in going for both value for money (reasonably priced) and slightly differentiated products. 4. Ina business model, often, it is good to understand "Porter's Five Forces" to give one a good understanding of both an overview of your industry and other factors. 5. From a Feng Shui point of view:- 6.1 In the past, I had mentioned some of the things related to "Feng Shui" or customs:- 6.2 Company or business logo / signage 6.3 Here, often, colours are chosen based on the industry / ba zi of the owner / proprietor(s). 6.4 Where possible, a logo or signage should have three colours. Since two colour signages imply "death" or "stagnation" of a business. 6.5 For a signage, often, e.g. the width should be e.g. even measurement while the length odd numbering. This is because, odd represents Yang. While even numbers representYin. Thus, this is said to be a harmony of Yin and yang. 6.6 Placement of signage 6.6.1 Under placement of signage, in Feng Shui, often, other than the logo harmonizes with the owners/proprietors; some FS practitioners also consider which direction is the main entrance / and check to see if the colour of the logo harmonizeswith thislocation. 6.6.2 In Feng Shui also, depending on the direction of the frontage, a company signage should harmonize with that specific location. For example, at some locations (directions) the logo should not be placed too high etc... 7. For the Chinese, auspicious dates are chosen for the opening ceremony. 8. Plus,on the day of opening, it is best that the business premises remain pitched dark etc.. I had previously posted a file on what to do during an office-ritual. Please do a search for this text file under the forum. 9. Feng Shui can also suggest or used to look at the location or site of business. And also, check the best sitting directions such as "facing the Prosperity and or Excellent" directions of the key personnel. 10. As one can see, other than the above, Feng Shui cannot be used as a cure-all situation. 11. For example, if your business is soley on the internet, one may unfortunately have a hard timeto market one'ssmall (local) site. Many internet start-ups will never see day-light at the end of the long road due mostly to cash-burn and unprofitability. 12. In the internet area, even if one's business is local, avoid or do try to get domains such as .com or .net or the first level domain names instead of those ending with e.g. .au etc.. 13. The greatest influence on a homeless has more to do with his immediate surroundings or the Feng Shui of his surroundings. The first basic premise of Feng Shui is that a shelter should be away from the rain or if possible higher (in case of flooding) etc.. Other than the above, man or human factors would feature more prominently in his/her life. This may be his/her motivation or non-motivation in life, physical and mental strength to take this kind of life. And generally, geographically although it may seem that there is a North / South / NE, Central / West region, but ultimately, Singapore is considered as "south" e.g. south of the Malayan peninsula. 4. If we go by the Eight House theory, and if we separate people into two groups: East and West, sometimes we get "weird" questions like, since I belong to the west group, I should live in the west. 5. Perhaps, this could be used as a silly reason for getting a divorce from a wife that is East group while we are a West group. It does not make sense at all. 6. More importantly, we read Shapes and Forms concept like the office should preferable not face a `T' junction etc... We should instead, look at the IMMEDIATE surrounding of the place to start our business. 7. In the application of Feng Shui, it is not about: Is NE the best place to have an business, but rather, using the tools of Feng Shui to analyse the specific exterior, site and unit we are trying to set about going about our business. 8. For start-ups in Singapore, it is often an uphill task. As mentioned in a previous message: 8.1 Many Singaporeans (unfortunately) are copy cats. They follow what others do or set up a business. 8.2 Don't waste time setting up similiar ventures like : the bubble tea outlets or Luo Han fish stores. You can also check out my write-up today: two parts: Part I & Part II : Facing direction of a home. 2.Under the above article, since your is a landed property, try to also determine the "Mouth-of-the-house" or generally where is the frontage of your home. 3. In your case, and based on your description, it would seem that your home facing direction could be the South as you had mentioned. 4. It does not matter if your front door or garage is at the north. 5. Often, especially for homes that suit your current description, and if there is a large lake, where the south side overlooks such a water feature or clear space then, there is even a clearer distinction that the home has a south facing direction. 6. As mentioned in my earlier messages under Part I & II of a similar question, the reason why the frontage is looked at is to try to see where the qi influence comes in. And since you mentioned that the south side has the most windows, this would mean that there is a higher probability of qi (good or bad) coming in from this. I would therefore, agree with your findings that south should be a better bet! Sometimes, we may not necessarily be too concerned with the same orientation of charts that share similar "opposites". For example, to understand what I mean, try to check out the "corresponding" Flying star charts:- A North N2 or N3 chart vs a South S2 and/or S3 chart. If one looks carefully, they are a mirror image of each other. For example, under a Period 7, N2 or N3 chart, the north sector has the double 7s with base 3. And a look at a Period 7, South S2 or S3, it shares a similar double 7's with base 3 exactly at the north sector. Nearly all the information is the same except for a mirror image of WS vs MS and vice versa. In the same way, try taking a look at direct opposite charts i.e. East E2 or E3 with West W2 or W3 etc... Dear Ana, 1. Welcome to the understanding of Feng Shui! 2. This is because, in my opinion, Feng Shui is all about understanding rather than "what we see is what we get". 3. About Doctors and would be doctors 4. Several years back, I remembered, distinctively a doctor who started learning or rather practising Feng Shui. 5. Here, although doctors are smart, but, sometimes, every human being(s) are gullible or simple feel that what they read are "real" and can be directly applied. 6. Perhaps, we all canquite understand that doctors or would be doctors have always picked up a book e.g. an anatomy book, and if the book says the heart has 2 values, 3 major veins etc.. This is the bible. 7. Thus, perhaps, it is this salient trust in what we read is what we are suppose to "get" unfortunately brings along many problems or issues. 8. Take for instance this doctor, which I had mentioned. He read somewhere (not in this forum) that, for example, that since the house face north, he (HAS) to paint his gate blue. 9. And he did exactly what was mentioned in some of these basic books. For example, east is wood or green. So, he painted each room based on this colour. 10. But, when he read futher, oops, he realised that what he did was not necessarily the case. 11. Recently, I did an audit for a young man who is near graduating from becoming a doctor. Again, he read too much those books that suggests the purchase of figurines etc.. and he bought these. His writing table is already crammed with books. And crystals were placed at an akward corner. 12. Which commonsense would mean that with the little real estate of this study table, his hands could not move freely since it is littered with lots of such crstals, figurines etc..! 13. Why is your element strong water vs just metal element:- 14. Many of us hear this term "Four pillars". 15. Under this basic simplistic term, each pillar is like a pillar holding up our Ba Zi (Eight character) chart. 16. Therefore, again simply: each pillar represents one variable. Thus 1st pillar is our Year of birth 2nd pillar is our Month of birth 3rd pillar is our Day of birth 4th pillar is our Hour of birth 17. Therefore, in a basic 4 Pillars chart, the above are the variables in such a chart. The detailed chart that you had mentioned i.e. strong water is based not only with this 4 pillars but also includes the computation of House of Life and House of Conception. 18. In the past, a 4 pillars chart includes two more pillars. But nowadays, unless one went UP-there (heaven) or DOWN-there (hell) no need to look at it. 19. When we look at the distinct difference : WHY METAL vs STRONG WATER? What is the difference? 20. Here, do we compare apples with apples or in this case an apple with an orange? 21. If one looks carefully, usually why one is a METAL is because, it is based soley on perhaps ONE (1) variable = YEAR of birth only. 22. Thus, for the simple reason, the METAL analysis is just based on a YEAR of birth. While under Pillars of Destiny or 4 Pillars, this FIELD has already being included together with ADDITIONAL variables such as YEAR, MONTH, DAY and HOUR of birth. 23. In any study, what is obvious does not necessarily mean that it is true. One has to seriously go to the base or the bottom of each concept and theory - to be able to first UNDERSTAND and not preach once one got some hazy idea. 24. As a beginner, I strongly suggest this rule-of-thumb: Step 1- Find out the purpose of each concept or idea. Step 2 - What are it's strengths Step 3 - What are it's weakness 25. Under Strategic Planning - Management concepts, we use what is known as a S.W.O.T. analysis It is similar to "swotting a fly". to gain knowlege or more importantly correct understanding. S.W.O.T. actually refers to: Strengths Weakness Opportunites Threats In the same way where we audit a home, we can also apply this model. For example, threats to the external of the home e.g. such as poison arrows. Opportunies such as a Quantum Leap in Feng Shui etc.. The morale of the story is that " Don't take every book literally, but instead, many (many) Feng Shui concepts have a purpose and also many are based on commonsense approach. Another good direction to follow is to try to classify any Feng Shui concept or idea into three distinctive fields: The holy trinity of luck Heaven Luck (What we are born with) Earth Luck (Feng Shui) Human Luck (real human luck factors like relationships and fake or sugar coated buying of useless products). If one can zoom into these, and have a solid foundation, then, one is much better off, knowing what is, and what is not, FS. Do take note that Feng Shui nowadays is very much commercialised. And do not be conned into what are not Feng Shui. For example, often, when we participate in a forum, more less, we are told to buy this or that. If so, the forum is not worth participating. I call this simply Bullshit Feng Shui. And giving real Feng Shui a bad name.Unfortunately, selling products are so lucrative. And, many FS practitioners ignore the real stuff. Dear Anon, To be truly honest, it is better to check on other means, than Feng Shui. As I have often mentioned, that Feng Shui is not a cure all. The rationale is because, often, we hear that for banks, they would prefer one to use a signature for an account especially if one reaches a certain age. Here, the implication is that when we reach a certain age, we already almost have a fixed style. Here, our temperment, outlook and even how we relate to our family members have already firmed up over the 17 years. And, it is difficult to directly change it from a Feng Shui point of use. Lest one becomes accused of becoming a Quack Feng Shui practitioner. Given this understanding, the years of formulating the profile of one's child has already being shaped. Today, other studies or methods should be looked into. For serious cases, many people have seeked the advice of counsellors or even their priests etc... Therefore, under the Holy trinity of the Chinese system, although the Heaven luck or ba zi or even palm reading could pick up such traits of your child but all these are just "ideals". What is more important now is the "Human/man factors". Feng Shui is about Earth luck and often, we should dwell more closer into the man factors - why is one's child behaving like this. Dear Emily, 1. Yeah, you did the right thing by not using real water or yang water in this room. 2. Since there are a double 7. in the bedroom, it is best to avoid: Earth (Yellow, cream or beige) 3. If earth appears in this room e.g. especially yellow, than, it is best avoided. 4. The best element flow in your should be: Water (Blue, black or grey) and Wood (Green or brown). This is because under the productive cycle of the five elements: Metal - Fire - 8. Given this, it is best to look at either (all water cures e..g blue in the entire room) or a combination of blue and wood (green or brown). 9. Some Feng Shui schools introduce Yin water into the bedroom. For example, they adivse their clients to use an empty 1.5 litre plastic bottle, place6 coins into it and pour water till full. Close the cap and place the bottle "indefinitely" at a corner of a room. Hmm.. basically no harm. Dear Stan, Frankly, I believe many people would agree with me that we should use the words " It depends". This is because, in Singapore, there are all sorts of "failures": For example: 1. Some people are greedy and dabble into stocks and shares beyond their means. (Not all, but some) 2. Some Singaporeans, go into "silly" businesses or unimaginative business. For example: into bubble tea business or business that they think will work - but often, cannot. 3. Singapore is such a tiny country. With a small market share. And I believe there was some report that a large percentage of business failure in Singapore due in part to this small market and other factors e.g. high rental etc.. 4. Many believe that many Singaporeans went thru a generation or more of "unimaginative" / non-creative education system. Many businessmen are also kiasu (or scared to die attitude) 5. The past few years of recession and this can happen to anyone. 6. Some people buy beyond their means with the hope that they can ride the storm and hopefully sell these homes at a hefty price. But, it looks like already made a paper (asset loss). 7. "Silly" people purchasing 99 year condos at $600 or more per sq feet. Nowadays, such condo prices and even new ones are selling at only $400 p.s.f. (depending on location). 8. In my opinion, many highly educated, or the more educated a Singaporean, the more, risk adverse they are. This is why, we often hear many polytechnic graduates instead achieve better as businessmen than say a graduate. Here, a poly graduate or even an O level or A level score person, could have felt that he/she has nothing to loose and go all out to do. While, many graduates, prefer a safer route working for others! As one can see, one can easily list out more reasons as to why Singaporeans fail or cannot seem to keep their home. So, personally, I feel that there is no ill karma - for many of the reasons. I would be more concerned with a "possessed" home or a hunted one! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Emily, It is best to understand some of these concepts: 1. What is a quantum leap in Feng Shui? Many good homes are simply (good homes). But homes that have a quantum leap are those that "suck" wealth from other homes or the environment. More? Please do a SEARCH for Quantum Leap in this forum or review some of the resources found under this site's "Can or cannot buy resources". Appreciate - don't ask me to explain from fresh what quantum leap is all about. 2. The above points to the clue that what makes or break a good home is the external environment such as an audit of the External environment, the site and the property itself. 3. Under Para 2, we should try to look at a home based on both the Shapes and Forms as well as the Flying star Feng Shui. 4. Both schools are equally important. And we often hear that for the Flying star feng shui, we should look out for good homes that perhaps have double 8's at the frontage or flying star charts that meet a certain criteria. 5. It is also good to see how best the home can fit our ba zi. Under the eight house theory, do find out what are: 5.1 what is the purpose of the eight house 5.2 what is it's strengths and 5.3 what are it's weakness (All these have been repeated many times in the forum). Again, do a SEARCH for what best to look out under this theory. The key here, is to see if we can take advantage of as many good points of the home. Usually, if we are able to judge for ourselves, we could see if e.g. although death sector is a liability for us BUT: as mentioned above, if a home enjoys a quantum leap, this would often negate this bad sector. And also if the home has a double 8, these are added points. But if the home has unfavourable shapes and forms and the flying star for the home is poor, then all this stacks up as liabilities for the home. In the past, I often, used the example of a person taking a comprehension test. If we are suppose to answer all 4 questions we should try to answer all four. Instead of answering only 2 or 3 questions. Since each question carries 25 equal marks, we should try to answer all questions. Feng Shui is also about scoring as much marks as possible. Dear Anon, 1. After reading your past message, looks like your husband is into fish rearing in a "big way" given that there is something like5 fish tanks in your 4 room apartment. 2. In such a situation, you may have to go on a "hobbist approach" vs looking at it from the compass school of Feng Shui e.g. Flying Star Feng Shui, which you perhaps, do not have any knowledge at all. For Flying Star Feng Shui, the best approach is that if you want to find out more, feel free to search further into the topic. As it would not be fair to go into it in this or other message. Since, such topics can easily be found if one - exercise their fingers hard enough. Given that this is a self-help forum. 3. Given this situation, you may have see how well you can place the fish tanks against "available" wall space available in your home. 4. If all family members are "tolerant" with having fish tanks around, then, this is the best approach based on a hobbist type of senario. 5. When I mentioned a "hobbist" approach, it has to do therefore, with especially husband/spouse tolerating each other's "exceptional" hobbies. 6. In your situation, I can therefore only say therefore, that it is based on a practiacl approach given that usually, fish tank(s) are placed firstly in the living room (to be viewed for enjoyment) and in some instances, some hobbist even resort to placing in the kitchen (kinda of no choice - no space) especially if there is no extra study room in the home. If so, some may consider placing it in the study room. There are instances, where, I have seen fish "franatics" even place them in the toilet area! Dear Joan, In the Feng Shui point of view, this is considered inasupicious. Especially, if one sleeps "sandwiched" between two concrete columns or beams: In particularit depends on the size of the beams as well as the distance between it from the bed. And also, the shape of the beam. If the beam is squarish or rectangular in shape, there is an added "sha qi" or poison arrow aimed towards the bed. In the case of the wooden cabinet, it would also depend on one's comfort level. For example, whenever you sleep on the bed, do you feel comfortable? Can sleep properly or not. Some of this aspect also has to do with the condition on one's mind.

For example, such as often, the car drives up to the front of the home (and /or) 2. There is a noticeable distinction of having a living room at the frontage and where often, the back is much part of the kitchen/ storeroom/backyard / laundry area. 3. Often also, if a home is "back-to-back" with one another, many homes have their back with the back of it's neighbour's home. 4. Please note that the above is not conclusive but rather, it depends on each individual situation. But it should be quite a reasonble guide. 6.
