Cecil Lee replied to Cecil Lee's topic in Singapore Property Review
In 1966, HDB East Brook @ Canberra was located South east of Sembawang village. A river was flowing at the North of East Brook which was predominantly virgin land. -
A new freehold site by Tuan Sing on former commercial office spaced known as Hillview House. Address: 1 Jalan Remaja These photos were taken in May 2018, as I was doing a Feng Shui audit at a near-by bungalow home for an old client of mine:- Background: Century Mansion:- Directly opposite this development: Kewalram Hillview:- Please don't mistaken the former Hillview House vs Hillview Mansion (the haunted one).... Recently, I was informed by Cecil that it is now referred to as Mont Botanik Residence. Please do not confuse Hillview House with the infamous "Green House" known as Hillview Mansion. Additionally, there are two other houses: Matilda House and the "Red House" located at 191 Jalan Loyang Besar, near the Pasir Ris chalets. These three are considered the most haunted places in Singapore. Sorry for the side-track. Anyway, Mont Botanik is a relatively safe distance away from the former haunted mansion at Hillview Mansion-:)

Knowing the location of key facilities before booking an apartment in a new development is important: 1. Choosing lower floors: 1.1. Units close to dining or barbecue areas may be affected by smoke or food smells when these spaces are in use. 1.2. If you dislike noise, avoid units near water jets or jacuzzis (if available). 1.3. Consider the proximity to clubhouse toilets, function rooms, or other areas that may host parties. 2. Bin centre / electrical substation / generator set: 2.1. Avoid units located above shops near these facilities, as hygiene issues may occur, including pests such as ants around rubbish bins. 3. Facing a guardroom or busy service road, such as a drop-off point, can lead to higher noise levels. Others: Herb gardens are often more for display than actual use. While upkeep is usually good in the first few years, they may be neglected over time, especially after the condo reaches 10 years or more. Also, since all condos are required to carry out weekly mosquito fogging, it is not advisable to use these herbs for cooking.

The famous New World Park amusement opened it’s doors in the 1920’s. In April 1987, the park closed its doors. Today, this replica gate stands at the gateway to City Square Mall and City Square Residences.

Did you know that in 1966, there was a Chinese cemetery just 300 metres away from HDB Telok Blangah Parcview? The area today: The Chinese cemetery was between Block 76, south of 450 Telok Blangah Cc; directly above Block 82 Telok Blangah Market, Kong Hock Keng Temple. Below: ground zero of the former cemetery Frankly, there is nothing bad about a Chinese cemetery. As in the past Chinese cemeteries were chosen because the land is often elevated i.e. on a hill. And cemetery land are suppose to be auspicious. The problem occurs only when there were illegal burials and not all bones were fully dug up or fully recovered before piling for the foundation works for that was converted into housing.

Then and now... There was once a Jubilee School. Today, the school disappeared and Jubilee Road becomes a dead-end road due to the AYE. The area where The Clementi Canopy is was once a busy hub. And there was once a circus connelecting Clementi with West Coast... Zoom out of the above map:- Today, this development is surrounded by good schools...provided can get in...nevertheless good resale potential other than those units near to the expressway plus afternoon sun..

Traditional Feng Shui is based on science and not about the purchase of crystals. Feng Shui is about earth luck of the home or place of study or work. The gemstones or crystals however has been linked to another field be it western or Chinese astrology. City Gate @ Beach Road under construction
Cecil Lee replied to Cecil Lee's topic in Around Singapore
The area has not changed much with the mosque and St John’s Ambulance Brigade, showing in the 1966 streetmap. Beach Road has expanded. And Java Road where City Gate is today has been absorbed by Beach Road. The land has also been reclaimed.
