With Singapore being a pretty small country, it's easy to kid ourselves into thinking we know all there is to know about the city. But after a long stare at this infographic (oh, how we love a spot of data porn), it became fairly obvious that we know far, far less than we thought. Who knew that we had a gazillion different trees? And we're super speedy when it comes to getting around on foot? And the huge wheel that we tend to forget about is the hugest of them all? Check out the infographic for yourselves to discover even more about our proud little island:- http://www.exmag.sg/ex-files/infographic-10-cool-things-about-singapore

You wrote: "If one's maternal grandmother pass away, does the wedding need to be conducted within 100 days or postpones to 3 years later?" Yes, this is by-right (or considered "politically correct" statement). Or "should be the case". You also wrote: "I have checked various sources which mostly mentioned these only affected to one's parents, only a few mentioned that this taboo affected to grandparents as well." Again, there is no hard or fast rule. Nowadays; some are quite lax with the interpretation; especially in the context thatthat specific grandmother(was) not staying with them. Thus take it as more "distant". But traditionally; yourfirst statement shouldbe the correct "interpretation" and includes the grand-parent.

These are further considerations: 1. In Traditional Feng Shui; it is not so simple as using a template: Fame; Career; Romance etc... 2. In the attached illustration. One of the concepts include drawing out a Flying Star chart. 3. In this sample illustration: For example: one of the many concepts is to look at the Flying Star numbers. 3.1 Thus; if one is evaluating the SE sector of a home; if you had applied it; water should not be used but fire should be used instead in the sample illustration. 3.2 For your question; as I had mentioned; it is based on whims and fancies; and frankly, better flip a coin: Heads = fire; Tails = water type of clueless "laughing stock" fung sway...

These are further considerations: 1. Imagine, when we visit another country; instead of touring places that locals go to; 2. Us the silly fools may be taken-in and tour places only tourists go-to in that country. 3. This type of "rubbish" whatever Fung Sway ... has a distinct element: 3.1. PLACE this object, here. PLACE that object (in the name of Feng Shui) there. 4. In reality: what you mentioned is product driven: Modern commercial product used in the guise of Feng Shui. 5. When the buying stops; the selling can!

These are some considerations: 1. Such practises although is widely popular in western countries; is unfortunately; not really authentic Traditional Feng Shui. 2. The "fame area" thing is not even found in the attachment. 3. Look at it this way; any Tom, Dick or Harry with some imagination can write such a book on "fixed" False Feng Shui thing... 3.1. Introduction 3.2. Career corner (area) 3.3. Romance corner 3.4.Fame corner etc.... 4. Then what should I do, here? 4.1. For such "practises" my advice is simply to flip a coin: Heads or Tails. 5. In addition, this "fixed template" does not even come close to Kindergarten type of Feng Shui. 6. For example, if any of such practitioners were to practise such an "art" especially in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong or Taiwan; will either be condemned or chased out of the house or office.

If one wants to apply Flying Star; and looking at a frontage; usually, it is best to add higher weightage to EXTERNAL openings, first. (And doors as secondary to the external opening. However, if external openings are always slam-shut; then this is a different cup of tea
-
These are some considerations:- 1. One must understand the key purpose of determining the "frontage". 2. The reason why determining the frontage is for the purpose of applying Flying Star Feng Shui. 3. Thus, as you had mentioned; under what you wrote = Para 4. You mentioned that you work mostly in the bedroom. 4. There is no right or wrong in determining the frontage under Flying Star. But if you spent considerable time at the bedroom. And if the bedroom has especially an external opening; you can consider that as the frontage for? the purpose of applying Flying Star Feng Shui. 5. The determining of the frontage need not be based on text-book or if someone else say so, type of situation. You are there; on the field; you have a better idea of it.

I suppose you mean the kitchen must not be in NW sector right? I'll definitely need to employ your expertise when we get our flat. Thanks Mr CecilI suppose you mean the kitchen must not be in NW sector right?I'll definitely need to employ your expertise when we get our flat.I managed to get a qeue for the current flat selection drive, but have yet to select a flat, and I'm considering a 4-room flat. The 4-room flat layout is attached here for your reference. Base on this flat layout, seems like there are parts of 2 major sectors missing, since the kitchen is protuding out & the household shelter is just next to the main door. Is there a cure for the such missing sectors base on the flat layout?(1) Assuming this sector which holds the shelter & main door is in a good sector, good door facing direction for me, this good sector will be affected by the shelter right? (a) I suppose sleeping facing a good direction or a bedroom in a good sector will help? (b) If we're at a higher floor, say 10th floor, we'll be looking at where the sunlight is strongest in the living room & if the source comes from the living room windows then that will be the facing direction of the house right?(2) In the layout, It also seems like the toilet is quite near to the center of the house, is it ok?Mr Cecil, base on this flat layout, do you think I should give up this selection?I'm at a lost right now whether to proceed with this flat selection.Your advise is very much appreciated.Thanks.Tan boon Beng -

These are some considerations: 1. Please note this is beyond the scope of this forum: http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=1&mid=33017&new= 2. In general:- 2.1. Better stacks are highlighted in "lime-green". 2.2. Do bear in mind the marking in purple "X". And have to weigh the stacks in relation to important missing corners OR kitchen at NW. -
Hope you understand; lots more work and effort are required to look into this. And unfortunately; most likely: your question is also too specific to a location.

This is a general illustration showing what one should do even if one want's to DIY Feng Shui. Marking in RED shows what need to looked at in relation with each other. In your write-up; you only tried to use some portions of marking in red "A". And also unfortunately try to apply "kindergarten" (whatever) with "A". For example; you mentioned N = career. What is lacking in your application are markings in red "B and C". And these two are matched to find out "D". If one looks at the illustration chart carefully: marking in RED "A" is only about Kua /Gua. But Both Marking in red "A" and "B" belongs to the Compass School of Feng Shui. Can't just apply "half" of the Compass School Feng Shui and say it is "done". On the other side; is also what is know simply as Bazi Feng Shui. Suitable colours for that person, child: son or daughter. Therefore, getting advice with just bits and pieces; you can go alone and as mentioned: flip a coin to get the "answer". Another premise: G.I.G.O. applies. Garbage in, garbage out...

1. You wrote: - "Bedroom A to paint yellow and Bedroom B blue (N = career = blue)" And you also wrote: "Option 2 - -Younger sonsleep in Bedroom A and elder daughter in Bedroom B. Both bed place in the NW directions and hang a crystal ball. - Bedroom A to paint yellow and Bedroom B blue (N = career = blue) I need your advice whether my options are feasible and which option would be the best. " 2. Honestly, no offence, to answer your question; the easiest here is to (again) to flip a coin. 3. Frankly, the authentic method is:- 3.1. Please see sample attachment: 3.2 Plot the flying star numbers. And refer to Purple marking A:- 3.2 For example, bedroom 3 is at North. And it's Flying Star numbers are Mountain #6 and Water Star #9. Especially based on these flying star numbers; a guide for this bedroom colours are:- 1. Earth (Yellow, cream or beige) 2. Metal (White or light pastel colours). 4. And if we want the daughter (Purple marking B) to sleep in this bedroom 3; her best colours are also 1. Earth (Yellow, cream or beige) 2. Metal (White or light pastel colours). 5. Thus, we can use 1. Earth (Yellow, cream or beige) 2. Metal (White or light pastel colours).for this bedroom. 6. What you mentioned North = career, etc... is purely (unfortunately) trying to apply kindergarten type of Feng Shui. If this was the 1950's and 1960's or even up to 1970's; and if there was an internet; everyone will be impressed with what you wrote. But, hey! this is

These are some considerations: 1. Question:. You wrote: "I do have a wall lamp next to the mirror & only switch it on occasionally - should I switch on 24hrs?). " And also other questions like "I willhang crystal ball on their bed stand to overcome the problem. 1.1.Need to make an effort to chart out theFlying Stars of the apartment or home (Marking in red A) Reply: If you intend to make such decisions; in a DIY environment; please seesample attachment: one"jolly" well has to make an effort to: determine, draw out the flying star numbers; analyse them andApply what one feels may be necessary. 1.2. For example if a sector hasperhaps bad #3etc.. and may need a 24 lamp. Otherwise, frankly, your guess is as good as mine. Might as well toss a coin, here. 2.Eight House or Applying Kua (Gua) or 4 Good/Bad directions): 2.1. It is good to have a visual idea of shown under Marking in red B.

These are considerations: 1. Usually, under macro Feng Shui, it is often the frontage rather than : main door entrance facing. Sometimes, the main door entrance matches the frontage. While is fine or OK. 2. From a macro Feng Shui point of view; it is best to understand what is at the South and East facing directions. As highlighted in the "yellow boxes". 3. Just looking at the interior layout and assuming East has sufficient open space; most likely as for now; based purely on as it is; the frontage seems to be East i.e. sitting West FACING East. 3.1 But if East is facing another home or blocked by it; or very dim and dark; then the facing could resort to South or even West. Anybody's guess given the limited "view".

Frankly, the ideal choice (if possible) is "If it ain't "broken" don't fix it". If unsure, should always keep it as it is even if it has become greyish i.e. Do nothing.... is the best!

These are some considerations: 1. It is common in such an instance to draw-up a few Flying Star chart(s). 2. Thus, frankly, you may have to draw-up TWO (2) or more charts. 3. If TWO charts; usually the 1st is based on either the date the apartment was "born" OR had a major (major renovation). The 2nd chart is usually either a major renovation after it was "born" or the "last recent" replacement of THINGS. 4. Therefore, contrary to (some) popular belief; an "argument" or soul searching or getting advice from each and every site/ geomancer their views of which period should I use. 5. Even responsible geomancers; would have to apply Para 3. above. 6. Some have the privilege of knowing the past history of the place and able to see if which chart "seems" right. 7. LOOK for TRENDS. Sometimes; even if we do plot several charts; there could be coincidences that a specific sector(s) could be similarly "bad" or have seem characteristics type of flying star numbers. If so, then quite safe to implement cures or enhancements ... etc...
