Dear Anon, In my opinion, one should not consider predecessor luck in Feng Shui. In the earlier message, what I mentioned was that Chinese do pay emphasis on where their forefathers are buried. But it is not correct to say that inheritance or holding back a home which once brought us luck is `predecessor'. I have also reinforced the notion that Feng Shui influence cannot be by `remote control'. If one manages to keep the previous house that brings one luck, most likely, the current house that one is staying is equally luckly to `allow' the owner to keep the previous house. One has to stay at the house to `enjoy' the luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I have just purchased a new flat and the concept of my theme is white and zen style. But I just happened to see that my unfavourable colour is green, brown and red. I have brought my bedroom set which is oak in colour and also the tile of my toilets comes with oak brown colour. Does that mean I have to re select the colours for all the furnitures and change the theme of my house? Is there any way I can still keep the the theme colour? Green/Brown=Wood, Red=Fire. Are you are a Strong Fire element? If so, then yes these colours make may your element too strong. However, you can also attempt to balance it by introducing a 3rd element. ie Earth…

Dear Anon, So far, I don’t think anyone has actually painted their walls black. Black tends to make a space feel dark. In contrast, a white‑washed home usually looks bright and clean. So, there is some truth in that idea. Using the 33.3 percent rule, other black items or objects aren’t really an issue. For example, IBM products are mostly black. Their excellent IBM ThinkPad notebook PCs and some of their high‑end systems all come in black. Both Robert and I use these black machines without any concern. Overall, you can simply apply the 33.3 percent rule here, where anything under 33.3 percent isn’t going to affect a person. Warmest Regard…

Hello we are trying to arrange our living/ dining room and buy a new sofa. Unfortunately we have a rectangle shaped room with a lot of windows! The only workable place to put the sofa (that would put it against a wall- also a good idea as we have a climbing toddler who likes to climb the sofa) puts the side of the sofa in direct line of the front door- although there is/ will be a cabinet for shoes or a buffet against the wall closer to the front door and there is a distance of around 4m-5m from the front door to the sofa. Is this still a bad place to put the sofa- or, are there any other positions you could suggest given the room layout? If it is a bad place to…

Dear Diane, It is good to hear that since you are a weak water person, water can help your element. However, for a weak water person, the best element that helps your weak water element is ideally Metal element. Under the Five Elements Concept, Metal helps to produce water. Adding water (such as a fish tank) can still help but will not be as productive as using Metal. But nevertheless, it can still be of help to a weak water person. For a weak water person, an element to avoid is the Earth element. As Earth, destroys water. Normally, an accurate assessment of where to place a fish tank should be undertaken by looking at the birth chart of the house such as the Flying Sta…

Dear Anon, 1. It’s quite common, even here in Singapore, for some Feng Shui practitioners to talk about the idea of a “wealth corner.” 2. Honestly, this is something many consumers like to hear. And plenty of Feng Shui practitioners are happy to share the idea. If it brings comfort or joy to the consumer, these practitioners generally feel that there’s no harm in it. 3. In fact, during many of my local Feng Shui audits, about eight out of ten clients ask me after the session where their wealth corner is. 4. As mentioned, many Feng Shui practitioners here will, based on their own concepts or interpretations, try to convince homeowners that their wealth …

Hello, I need help to Feng Shui my home with out the use of expensive cures. I agree with you that modern day cures and the amount you have to buy and the cost of those items are just ridiculous. I know there has got to be another way. I am having trouble finding information on what the combinations of these numbers mean and how they are affecting my life both positively or negatively. Can you help me understand the good and bad luck of this home and what I need to do to correct the problems according to Feng Shui. One major problem is my mothers health and for myself, not being able to find the right partner for marriage. Can you help me correct …

Dear Elena, If you have not stayed at the house yet, you can get the contractor to paint the entire house. The `worse' effect is if one digs the ground at the Tai Sui's current location or knocks down the wall at the location. This is the main concerned as compared to painting the wall. I would go ahead to paint the entire house but (out of Chinese custom) avoid being at the location when the house/that sector has been painted. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Serene, It would be best to tie a red string with the 6 coinst tied together. This is preferred if one is using 6 coins. The rationale is because fire element (red) can help to bind or control metal element (especially if it consists of 6 metal or big metal element). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Rose, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Wednesday, April 28, 1999 5:44 PM Subject: FIVE YELLOWS vs Properity in 8-House An accurate Flying Star chart should ideally take into account a few key things: 1. The birth chart of the house. 2. Your personal kua number. 3. The exact direction of the main entrance (in 15-degree increments). So, in my view, if something is so general that it can be applied to everyone without considering a personalized Flying Star chart—at the very least the house’s birth chart and its precise facing direction—then I wou…

Dear Andy, I see that you’re new to the forum, and I’d like to extend a warm welcome to you! Based on some of the most basic Feng Shui ideas, you can arrange your desk using three main Feng Shui concepts: A. Shapes and Form School: 1. Try to place one side of your desk against a pillar or wall to give you a sense of support. 2. It’s best if there isn’t a walkway directly behind your desk. Ideally, you should have a solid wall behind you for stronger support. 3. Avoid sitting directly under a column or beam. 4. Try to avoid “poison arrows,” such as sharp corners or edges pointing directly at you. 5. Your desk should not be easily visible from the d…

Dear Anon, For a strong metal person, the most favourable element is: Water (blue, black or gray). The next two favourable elements are Wood (green or brown) and Fire (red, pink or purple). For a strong wood person, the most favourable element is Fire (red, pink or purple) as fire element will help to exhaust wood. As fire element is increased, earth (yellow, cream or beige) can be used. Next best favourable element is metal, as metal inturn will help to exhaust earth. Actually, you can use the free comparison report at www.geomancy-online.com to determine these. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: 1) Iunderstand that I amastrong water element. How do I go about reducing this element and increasing other elements which I am weak at? In what ways? Should I avoid going forany other water related activities such as swimming? You should go by the Strong Water element characteristics. While Wood which exhaust your excess Water and Earth which destroy your Wood help to control you excess Water which makes you Strong. These element becomes your favourable element. Dear Anon, 1. In my view, in Western countries it’s more common for Feng Shui practitioners to advise their clients to hang a Ba Gua mirror to counteract Sha Qi. 2. In the East—particularly in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other parts of the Far East—Feng Shui practitioners usually make slightly different recommendations: 2.1. Many Feng Shui practitioners with a religious background, such as Taoism or Buddhism, often encourage their clients to hang a Ba Gua mirror on the main door, or even on several doors, for “protection.” In these cases, clients are sometimes asked to place specific “charms” above their doors. These charms are usually written on yell…

Dear Cecil, With regards to the Center sector of my business, the 20 year vs. yearly star analysis suggests to "use metal to exhaust earth" and the mountain vs. water star analysis recommends to "use WATER to exhaust metal". 1) I know what the metal cure is, but what is the solution for a water cure? 2) Do the above solutions cancel each other out to make the sector neutral? Thank you so much, Hoa

Dear Mark, If you are a Strong Metal, then any additional metal would not be beneficial to you. This is because in Feng Shui what is most important is the Balance of Element. Strong Element is good as it means that you are able to take control of your wealth, life etc. However, when you are Strong you need some controlling elements to control or neutralize the excessive Metal in you. Under the Five Element Cures, the Elements that can control Metal are Fire and Wood. Fire directly destroy Metal, or Wood can destroy Earth which helps grow your Metal. In terms of the overall house, a Metal house is suitable to your Element. The more important aspect of the house which affe…

In such a situation, nothing much can be done . Normally, the advice here is to cover the toilet bowl with the toilet seat cover and close the door. You can certainly try putting riverstones if you want. Cecil There is no need to do anything as it is already a good sector for your husband.

Dear Joan, Based on the Chinese Astrological signs:- Until 15 Feb 1999, this period is still considered a Tiger year. Rooster in a Tiger year represents:- a. Yes, the bedroom is a Yin location (especially for adults). In Feng Shui the reason why many FS Masters suggest not to have plants is because plants are GROWING and do create some form of Yang `activity'. I guess a small plant is acceptable. What usually is no good are larger potted plants with large leafs. As for fresh "cut-flowers', there is no problem in placing them in a bedroom.. Most flowers do smell nice:) Water in the form of an aquarium or a fish tank is not good to be placed in a bedroom. This is because fishes swimming in the fish tank do generate yang ch'i and again as the bedroom is a place of rest (yin) it is not ideal to have a fish tank in the room. Even s…

Pleas Please see my comments below:- Yes, since you are a WEST House person, South West sector is indeed your Health sector. When you use the 8house theory you should follow these steps:- 1. Determine your " 8house ". In your case, you had found out that it is the WEST house. 2. Prepare a template of it. For example, if you have tracing paper or better still, a transparency, mark out all the 8 sectors pertaining to the WEST house. 3. Next, obtain a copy of the layout plan (preferably on an A4 sized paper), find out the North to south direction of your house and mark it on the layout plan. 5. Determine the centre of the house. 4. Lastly super-impose your WEST house…

If you have the time, do visit this link: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Go to the " Year of Birth " and find out the KUA. Alternatively, create a Free Account under geomancy-online.com. Next, select the Free 8house theory and key in each account and follow the instructions. Hope that helps!
