Dear Daniel, Tai Sui in the West for example means that you should avoid disturbing him especially for renovations. Having a fish tank there does not affect the Tai Sui in anyway. So don't really think you will need to do anything. Whether or not you should relocate the fish tank depends more on the flying star analysis ie where is the water wealth sector this year for best luck. That I will not be able to advise you here unless an analysis is done. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Could you advice If there is an easement (Water pipe) passing next to the house is it bad for the house or people living in it. Anonymous wrote: In actually it is passing next to the bed room. If it is bad then could you please advice some remedy for it. This really isn't as bad asewage pipe passing below your home. Under the feng shui concept if you have sewage pipe passing below your home, the danger is that the vapour will rise and thus posioning the air around the home. Often from many experiment conducted, so far most people found to stay under this situation tends to have health problem. If it is plain water pipe, then there is less…

Dear Anon, In the ancient Chinese book known as Yang Zhai Shi Shu, this type of house is described as inauspicious and the result that the family members staying in the house cannot be rich. This is considered less auspicious than some other building layouts which can range from death occuring twice in a year to the breadwinner meeting a calamity. Frankly, there is really nothing one can do other than to `brighten' up the house and others include placing e.g. such as placing fu fu dogs/dragons or more offensive FS cures such as canons on the pillars of the gate of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi Cecil, I am very grateful for your reply. It is difficult to find such great person to offer thisto stranger these days. I have checked and indeed I belong to weak yang wood. Is "metal" industry suitable for me? The reason for asking is though the offered company is in plastic injection business, they are also involved in tool making. At the same time, they are also looking into doing metal stamping business. If an offer is very attractive but belonging to the "unfavorable" career, what should one do to avoid the "clash"? Thank you sincerely.

Dear Cindy, 1. In my opinion, unless one does a reno to relocate the bedroom door, there is not much one can do unless the bedroom door is closed when not in use. 2. The rationale is because, it is not feasible to place a partition or screen between the bedroom door and the staircase. 3. An alternative is to place a screen or e.g. a 4 drawer linen cabinet between the door and the bedroom. 4. Before doing anything drastic above; in my opinion, I find a bedroom door facing the stairs - not a `big' issue i.e there is relatively not much - if any impact on those living in the bedroom. So far, I have not come across much problems with regards to this issue for most people. 5.…

1. Please refer to another similar thread:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=1&mid=27373&new= 2. It relates to "Commonsense-Feng Shui". The most obivious is to have a neat and tidy kitchen cum service yard area. And perhaps, some door as another user wanted to install in the above thread. 3. Commonsense dictate that in most situations; it is highly unlikely or impractical for a home owner to close the door be ita sliding or swinging door most of the time. However, in the event that one has guests, then; one could easily close this door. Especially in a practical world, one still has to hang clothes unless one uses a washing machine c…

Hi my place is right next to a school but my unit is on a high floor, above 10 storey. And there is a temple near the project. Will this impact the feng shui of the house much?

1. This link has some resources on the placement of the kitchen stove:-http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Kitchen_Stove_%26_More Uma S. wrote: any remedy if i have no other go but cook facing south pl advice on my e mail 2. Usually the most sensible thing is to check the layout of the kitchen to see if it is posible or feasible for it to face another direction. Otherwise, this is a "physical" thing and hardly any remedy for it.

The shape of the house is xlong, (narrow width). It is built in 1966. I have not taken exact compass reading, but based on your diagram below it is somewhere between 22.5 to 37.4.

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: How does chinese lunar calendar works to select the gender of baby and how accurate it is? How can I calculate chinese lunar age? I presume here that you are refering to a chinese method of deducing the best date to give birth to a boy or a girl, right? If so, then I won't be able to tell you for sure. As this is a method passed down from previous generations, so it might have some logical deduction method. However, from what I heard from older generations who had tried it, is there is some degree of truth to the formula. So no harm trying it. Maybe the best way to know if it works or not is to try it. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Rob…

Hi, As mentioned in a recent message, Chinese Astrology uses only the Year of birth of a person. Chinese Astrology based on just the Year of Birth although do give a general `profile' is less accurate than analysing `clashes' undertaken by the powerful Pillars of Destiny which analyses not only the year of birth but, month, day and if possible also the time element. A `small' horse figurine in the south should not pose any problem even if you are a mouse/rat unless, it is a warrior riding the horse with weapons such as a spear, or gun etc.. Dear Anon, Please see below: 2. But if you are a strong fire person, then water would be a better alternative as it helps `cool' down the strong fire. If wood is used, it would further increase your strong fire resulting in health or competition at work. A small plant would normally make little impact. This should be ok. Generally, this is more towards `belief' than Feng Shui. It should normally be ok. This would be considered `inauspicious' in Feng Shui. On one hand, it does look like a overhead beam. The other (not FS), is to check how secure it is. Under Chinese beliefs, it is not so much of one wearing old clothes but rather, avoid wearing torn …

Dear Master Cecil, As I was going through the FLYING STAR CHART for my home where I had done the comparing chart between PERIOD 7 HOME under period 8 vs PERIOD 8 HOME under period 8.Obviously there were a few things which I feel to need to cross check and determine whether it is best to "transform" my home into PERIOD 8.Anyway, my home faces WEST 2 (270). FIRSTLY, NOTICE THAT MOST OF THE HOUSE BEDROOM SECTOR REPRESENT AUSPICIOUS COMBINATION IF REMAIN UNDER PERIOD 7 HOME.WHERE ESLE,IF PERIOD 8 NOTED STAR #5 #2 AND # 7 ARE THERE. SECONDLY,THE MAIN DOOR AREA AND CENTRE AREA UNDER PERIOD 8 HOME CONSIST AUSPICIOUS COMBINATION ESPECIALLY DOUBLE STAR # 8 ON THE MAIN DOOR AREA. T…

Dear Ang, If one is using the Eight House theory, you should also consider what is the intangible force at the bedroom location. If the bedroom is an auspcious location, at least, this can in some ways `compensate' to a certain extend the death or disaster falling at the main entrance. If the death or disaster is at the main entrance, this implies that the house is not considered suitable for you. In general, you should not let the door open all the time. Only when you need to use the door, then you open it else, preferrably it should be closed. Do keep the location bright e.g. using neutral wall colours like `white'. These are the two things which you could do. Otherwise…

Hi, The Traditional understanding is that only when one uses the `entire' formation of the Eight Trigrams based on Fu Xi or The First Heaven sequence Trigram than can it be said to be `activated'. For example, the Tai or Peace symbol used by Geomancy-u.com cannot be said to be `activated' as it does not represent a formation i.e. Heaven to Thunder etc... where the entire First Heaven Sequence Trigram also represents a Family unit. Reference: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/pakua.htm We may activate the Earth element i.e. the Five Star by painting e.g. the room yellow representing the Earth element. It is still acceptable to paint the backdoor blue but this is best avoided. Sym…

Dear Chris, Thanks for your very interesting question. As a guide, usually our surroundings is `governed' by Feng Shui analysis using the Shapes and Form School. Here, Shapes and Form is used at the Environment Scanning ie. the Landscape, the Site and the Home. We can loosely term the above as Macro Feng Shui. It is important in the above to locate the dragon (yang) embracing the tiger (yin) or we consider this a gentle embrace. In addition, in the macro level, there should preferably be a solid backing (tortise) and clear space - infront (phoenix). In Macro Feng Shui, we also analyse the enviroment in relation to the Five Elements concept. Here, if there are lots of `woo…

Dear Anon, In general, overall, it is said that the Rat would not have as good year in the Year of the Horse. Chinese Astrology, frankly (in my opinion) is too simplistic as many take into account only the YEAR of birth. Posters are man-made. Perhaps, it is to encourage the offering of prayers (with or without substance) - erh..my opinion only. Perhaps, to me, I draw a parallel to a poster that says " Brushing teeth to prevent decay ". And children in school do so together. Frankly, I do not see any harm since physcially at home; Grand Duke has not been distrubed or touched in any way. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Some FS practitioners consider it not as auspicious to have the kitchen next to the main entrance. But this is quite common in many new apartments and should not pose any problems especially if the stove position is located properly. The stove (or if it has side knobs) should normally face inwards. 2. For the toilet next to the main door, this is best avoided if one can. There is nothing much one can do here other than to keep the toilet airy and bright and close the door when not in use. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Andy, An event's manager may be considered as a wood element. While a nutritionist especially if you do provide frequent advise to people can also be considered directly as belonging to the wood element. As wood element is about "growth/ nurturing", teaching, training andin thecase of an event's manager co-ordination. If so, if we strictly based on the FiveElements concept, metal destroys wood to create wealth. Thus without considering your personal traits or preferences, both are suppose to acceptable to you. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hello master, I'm from Eastern Europe, I am a feng shui enthusiast and amateur and I have studied the art of feng shui for 8-9 years now. I came to understand a lot of things about feng shui, but not all of them, and I can't say that I know everything regarded to it and still trying to understand some aspects, that's why I wanted to ask for help from someone that knows this better, and verify if what I am doing is correct. I’m practicing feng shui only for my family. I don’t do it and don’t talk about it with other people, because our culture is based on christianity and some look at feng shui with doubt, fear or skepticism. I was ra…

Dear Anon, 1. Pendulum Clock Yes, to some Feng Shui practitioner, it is a much better `cure' than say a " wind chime " as the `tick-toc' provides a constant `metallic' sound. 2. Rocking Chair This is "less well known" but has been used by some (more modern) FS practitioners, recommend it. Firstly, it has to go well with their clients. On the other hand, some FS practitioners may consider it less auspicious because of its rocking movement (unstable) as opposed to a solid and stable chair. Some of whom have solid armrests and some of the armrests have elaborate carvings on them. Warmest Regards, Cecil

1. Usually, in Asian society, often, we should (unfortunately) respect the advice of our elders. Thus, if your elders or either side of the family (husband or spouse) elders say so; as a mark of respect, try to give them due respect. 2. Actually, every lunar month has it's good and bad days. And even in a 7th month; there are both good and bad days. A wider interpretation to some is that as the 15th lunar day of the 7th month had just passed by; to some this is interpreted as the "end" of the 7th month. 3. The date you had chosen is phonetically auspicious sounding: 9 9 09. But this does not matter to the elders.. as to them... it is still considered the 7th month so lo…

1. In my opinion, what you described is pretty common - apartment basements in some parts of NY city. 2. Commonsense Feng Shui:- 2.1. In some low lying countries; the main concern is that for such apartments; is - if there is sudden flooding i.e. where the nearby drains leading to the sea got clogged and or due to sudden heavey downpour in the Tropics. 2.2. Commsense Feng Shui is about making sure that the home is reasonably neat and tidy and : "clear space" is very common word to use, here. 2.3. Being in the basement; it is still good to ocassionaly "air" the home e.g. good to once a while - especially after a down pour to let outside air circulate within the hom…
