Dear Daniel, The key ingredient to the shop is the store-front. Pay more attention to the frontage of the fruit shop. As you did not mention the type of store, e.g. one at a Government Housing Block or an upmarket store. If it is at a Housing block, check the demography e.g. is it a new or old housing estate. The best trend is to have an inviting front e.g. open area at the front to display and extend the fruits out to the corridor (if this is permitted). As fruits themselves are colourful and bright, do remember to keep the store clean and bright e.g. white walls. Wishing you sucess in your venture! Warmets Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Yes, I do agree with you that there are many different opinions on the Ba Gua mirror. 1. We can look at it primarily under two broad categories:- 1.) With a religious inclination 2.) To protect against Sha Qi such as a house with the main entrance facing a `T' junction or other poision arrows. 2. The advice provided is also based on the inclination of the practitioner. For example, if the practitioner is `deeply rooted' in religious beliefs, he/she may ask their customers to use a Ba Gua mirror for almost every door of the house i.e. the main entrance, the kitchen door and the backdoor (facing outwards). 3. Some practitioners even are not convinced about the Ba…

Zi Wei plots "stars" from a persons date and time of birth, and uses the position and strength of these stars to determine the fortune of a person. Ba Zi is similiar, but uses eight Chinese characters from the date and time of birth. Both are used to determine a person's "Heaven Luck". What they were born with. In this regard, they are both the same. As to which is more accurate. I personally believe it is down to what you want to know. Some questions Ba Zi, or Zi Wei can handle. Some other questions, Zi Wei does a lot better than Ba Zi, and vice versa. And in some cases, neither is of really much help. So accuracy is (IMO) dependant on the competency of the person readin…

Dear Alvin Chua, Alvin Chua wrote: Using the Flying Stars method, I have a 5Yellow Water star and a 3 Green Mountain star in my bedroom. Can I hang five emperor coins to weaken the 5 Yellow and also control the 3 Green? Another thing that confuse me is this. If a room is filled with untimely inauspicious Flying Stars, will it help me if I position my bed and working desk to my best directions using the Eight Houses method? How does the two systems complement each other? Or conflict? Fei Xing (Flying Star) and Eight House (Ba Zhai) are two different concepts. 1. Flying Star is to assess the Qi and luck of the house itself. If a sector is inauspicious, it has to be balan…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I just did a free Personal Ba Zi from your site which says I am a weak yin Water and itadvises me my favourable element color is white/gold/blue/black. One is theelement from the four Pillars another is the element from my Kua No.3 - wood. Eight House (Kua) concept is derived from YEAR of birth only. Dear Flannery, Please see below:- In my opinion, it is best not to apply "Sector concepts" as this is too general. For the bathroom in the center of the apartment, is a concern. There is not much that can be done here. If it is feasible, not to use it or keep it bright and dry. My front In my opinion, I would not be too concerned with the `Relationship area'. The staircase over the main entrance is acceptable. So long it is not a toilet - which is inauspicious. There should not be any problem using the main entrance door. Overall, you may consider checking out using the Free Eight House Report to check on how suitable the house is to you and what intangible f…

Dear Tril, There are several rulesets in Feng Shui. One of the more visible method is: the 33.3 percent ruleset. Here, so long as a sector or location has 33.3 percent of an element, it can be said that this element is dominant at that sector. A good example is let's say a bedroom. If we paint the walls and this cover more than 33.3 percent of the entire wall with blue, then we have `applied' a significant amount of water element. Thus painting a wall or using bedsheet to cover the bed are some of the options. Please see below:- Thus we can use numbers to associate with an element. Thus 6 or Six signifies BIG METAL, then we can use 6 coins to represent BIG METAL as…

Dear Suat PG, suat PG wrote: I would like to seek your advice on how to neutralise the poison arrow inmy office. You see, I am sitting directly below a sprinkler on the ceiling. The sprinkler is sharp and pointed. Yes, any pointed arrow is considered a poison arrow. However, in feng shui we also have to consider whether is it a big or small threat. Big threat are usually large like a corner of a wall that cuts into you will create a much more larger posion arrow. So this is considered a small threat by comparison. suat PG wrote: Short of changing the position where I sit, which is not possible, what can I do or use to neutralise this? Dear Annie, Here are the considerations:- 1. Since you have not mentioned where is the front door, avoid placing the fountain at the right side of the door. I.e if you are standing at the main door and facing out of the house, the fountain should not be on the right side of the house. Usually, the result is `wandering eyes' or illicit affairs e.g. of the husband. 2. If the fountain is small or tiny, its effect is minimal. 3. Can you elaborate about the lamp post? If it can be seen from the window (or tangent or perpendicular to it); this is a poision arrow. To neutralise this, perhaps you can check out the conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures); Subject: What…

Dear Jomay, In the heading you used Bath room/powder room. Perhaps, can you elaborate more: 1. How close is the bathroom to the centrepoint? (Where is the toilet bowl) 2. Are there any pumbing in the powder room? Or what is the layout like. If you can, do use the conference: Conference for Attaching Layout and attach a .gif or .bmp or .jpg 3. It is hard for me to comment without knowing the full picture. 4. I must stress that where possible, the Shapes and Form in terms of the site, the house layout and the interior position of the furniture is equally important. 5. It is also `essential' to try to use the Eight House Template and visualise the intangible force at each s…

Dear Respected Sirs, I am finalising the design for a new house, and I am having difficulty interesting the architectin Feng Shui considerations. Attached are two images, the first of the original house design, the second with an alteration to the staircase, amongst other things. The architect said he had been told that a staircase could face the front door directly (which I realise is a very undesirable option) as long as a large statue or water fountain was placed between them. He later agreed to modify the design, and produced a curving staircase as shown in the second attached image. My two questions are: 1. Does the curving staircase solve the problem - ie, i…

1. Frankly, this cannot apply to every single home that has an empty space below it. 2. For example, if so, how about the thousands of Housing Board Flats (government HDB flats) that are scattered all over the island? Does it mean that every single owners of HDB, HUDC flats at 2nd storey will get into "deep shit?" 2.1 If we were to walk around all over Singapore, many have stayed, and are still staying at the 2nd storey flats. I don't see specifically lots of empty flats immediately above VOID decks do you? 3. It has more to do with location, location and location. 4. When the Ritz CaltonHotel was built, they seeked advice from a Feng Shui Master and the Master recom…

Dear Anita, 1. Usually, an item or a `small object' will not have much influence over our lifes. For example, a swarovski crystal, will remain a crystal. This is because, it has no magical properties that can help `change our lifes'. 2. For better part, it dwells more with being a decorative piece or a `belief'. Decorative pieces such as the crystal in my opinion, is similar to any other objects or furniture in a room. 3. If we look at it as a `belief'. And if we ourselves belief that it will benefit us, then, it may change our outlook or even make us happy. Thus, for such objects, it is best that you personally feel that it (in the first place) it looks nice and then th…

Dear Anon, 1. Other methods include hanging beaded curtains. Or have a side table and placing a lamp on it if say the bed is facing the door of both rooms. 2. Alternatively, place a linen cupboard i.e. it can be a low one inside one of the rooms. The above are the best alternatives. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In my opinion, one should not consider predecessor luck in Feng Shui. In the earlier message, what I mentioned was that Chinese do pay emphasis on where their forefathers are buried. But it is not correct to say that inheritance or holding back a home which once brought us luck is `predecessor'. I have also reinforced the notion that Feng Shui influence cannot be by `remote control'. If one manages to keep the previous house that brings one luck, most likely, the current house that one is staying is equally luckly to `allow' the owner to keep the previous house. One has to stay at the house to `enjoy' the luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Light i.e. flame is considered the fire element. Here, another more exact interpretation is that fire (flame) rises. Although lighting generate heat, it is not a `flame' where a flame can be extinguished by water. It is perfectly acceptable to have light shining to a pool of water. This is the same as natural light filtering into the fish tank. Therefore, there should not be an issue over this. When when flame touches water, then it matters. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ling Ling, Currently the two most common methods at looking at the number of fishes to `rear' are: Method 1: The most common method is based on general good numbers of fish i.e. fishes should be numbering e.g. 5, 6, 8. (9 is still acceptable). Method 2: The other method is based on your kua number ie. if your kua is Li or South, you should rear 9 fishes. If your Kua number is Kan (North), you should rear 1 fish, if your Kua number is Chen or East, then you should rear 3 fishes. Ideally, this is based on the breadwinner's Kua number Conclusion ========== Frankly, the easiest method is to follow ` Method 1' especially if you have a large family and especially, the fish…

Dear Anon, It is good that the house is rectangular in shape. Please see below:- In addition, this home suits more of a West group person. However, from a Shapes and Forms Feng Shui point of view, it is acceptable as most of the side of the home will not be afftected by any afternoon sun.

Dear Gerry, Thank you for raising a pertinent question, particularly for new users in this forum. 1. It is traditionally beneficial to comprehend why the Chinese utilize the compass with TOP representing the South and BOTTOM representing the North. 2. Upon closer examination, it is evident that China is situated in the Northern Hemisphere, where the majority of mountain ranges are located in the North. 3. For those who have visited Beijing, the capital of China, it is common to observe that many houses have their windows and main doors oriented towards the South. Furthermore, the absence of windows on the North side is attributed to the dusty storms of…

Dear Anon, A three-legged toad does not feature prominently in any traditional Feng Shui literature. In my opinion, it is a commercial product. I leave it to anyone to decide whether they feel this is true or not. Do note that there is no basis for it under Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Hello. My boyfriend and I just moved into a new apartment. We are both two different directions. I am west and he is east. How can we decorate so that we live harmoniously? This is a very common and quite easy to solve by applying the give and take approach. 1) The house should most importantly be suitable to the breadwinner of the family since he/she earn most to support the family. So the breadwinner must get the best facing so as to get the most luck. 2) Since the breadwinner has luck for the house, therefore he/she can take a less suitable bedroom and make sure the spouse is can draw luck from the room. Since the two person are opposite,…
