Dear Anon, For the Hulu or bottle gourd, often, this is used in place of a set of six-coins or wind chime. The purpose of the hulu is in Feng Shui, suppose to "suck in bad qi". For example, many Chinese Feng Shui practitioners hang it above the bed in response of bad flying star numbers like #5 or #2 sickness stars. The purpose is to "suck" in bad sickness qi. Sometimes it is also used or hung in place of the alternative partition i.e. especially if the main entrance door face the balcony window (directly). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Alice, Please always remember that true feng shui does not really need to use any items. The best way to harmonise the environment is not by putting all sorts of 'feng shui items' but rather to ensure that:- 1. You fit the environment based on suitability. 2. Colours scheme of the home/decor/car fits your element so as to gain as much luck as possible. 3. Placement of furnitures such that there is no posion arrows etc. You will find that if you follow the above, it does a lot more wonders than just using any particular items. Of course, such items if it makes you feel good, then no harm in putting it. This is because the Human Luck (whatever makes you feel good…

Dear Cheui May, 1. You brought up a good question. 2. I would apply the "33.3 percent Rule set." 3. I call this the 33.3 percent rule set as a general guide to better understand certain Feng Shui concepts that are universal: For example, 3.1. When we determine a "missing corner", we usually, say that a missing corner is one where it is 33.3 percent missing or the area is greater than 33.3 percent. 3.2. When one wears e.g. a `T' shirt, and to enhance oneself, for example a weak water person could e.g. wear blue shirt. It covers more than 33.3 percent of his entire surface of his body. Contrast this with wearing a ring or many rings. This is just an example. 3.3. For water …

Dear Jenny, Actually, when we look at Feng Shui you will find that we never put false hope on say finding the wealth corner or simply enhancing wealth only. Simply because it is not possible or easy to locate these factors simply by using any one theory. It is more often you will find us looking for overall solution in terms of the various problems you encounter all together. We always emphasize the importance of overall balance in every single area of your life. This means that if there is a problem in the Feng Shui relating to Shapes and Forms, we find a cure for that. And when there is a problem in the Feng Shui of the House (Flying Star), we recommend a solution for t…

Dear Lian Seng, Please see below:- ----- Original Message ----- From: "free-advice Listmanager" To: Sent: Monday, July 24, 2000 12:28 PM Subject: Placing a wind chime You have asked how to determine when to place a wind chime. It is good to analyse the house by doing a Flying Star analysis and then checking to see if a wind chime is `suitable'. Here, the type of material used and equally color of the wind chime should also be considered. For example, if the wind chime is colored red, or in a triangle shape, (depending on the overall shape) it could mean that it has the fire element. Frankly, it is hard for me to comment on your situation as mentioned above, it woul…

Toilet pipe

Dear Wasis, In such a situation, frankly, the essence here is that the bed should not be on the same wall and particularly, the `waste pipe' should not criss-cross or next to the bed. The only option is to leave a gap between the bed and this wall. This is perhaps the `lesser of the two evils'. Where it is not ideal for the bed to be away from the wall but this is much better considering the above. Warmest Regards, Cecil Regards, Wasis

Dear Brenda, Yes, a small decorative screen next to the toilet so long as it is sufficent to block the view of the toilet and not the whole bathroom would suffice i.e. OK. For a mirror facing the front door normally this would not be advisable as it would reflect Qi or disperse Qi and may not be that advisable. It also depends on other factors i.e. distance to the door etc... If a mirror has to be used, a sloping mirror (similiar to those found at some shop shops for customers to view a pair of shoes) i.e. sloping would be an alternative where it is not perpenticular to the door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sophia, Sophia Chia wrote: Are dreams a part of feng shui. Human mind are so complex that no one is still able to comprehend how dreams work. However, I would classify dreams which appear to come true as personal intuition or 6th sense at work. Many a times, whensomething bad is about to happen to people (especially those closest to us), we somehow have some form of intuition which will give us advance warning. Most of the time it is dreams or sometimes it is like your eye twiching constantly. Since everyone has some form of person intuition or 6th sense (only how weak or strong for some person). Often even in Feng Shui, when we often say that the best way to te…

1. I can only make a general comment : as considerations like the distance to the slope, exactly how far the gradient to the living room etc.. 2. For a ground unit condo unit, it is very common to have similar "landscaping". Sometimes it is a blessing in disguise as it may inadvertenly afford greater privacy for parts of the facing direction of the home e.g. next to the living room is often a bedroom etc.. 3. A picture would be an excellent choice! Someapartments have PES (personal enclosed space) and if there are railingsor wooden trellis, it would most likely cover the level of the ground.. i.e. if it is not seen ... it is "no longer a threat"... 4. What is more impo…

[Note: Reference: Photo Tours of Interest - The Sterling Housing Development] Dear Anon, In the last picture of the Housing development, it shows the pool side. Above the units fronting the pool there is a `small hole' as shown with the red arrow in the picture. The project is on a gradient hill and the peak is the top of the triangle. The `hole' is to allow the Dragon Qi on the top of the hill (not to be entrapped) but to flow thru the hole `allowing' it to move freely downwards. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Usually, these are decorative items even if it is dragon and in my opinion, should not have a major impact on your boyfriend or yourself. Warmest Regards, Cecil

In this sample by ranking of an estate; one systematic approach is to apply common sense such as:- In this sample there are Legends like:- X = Inauspicious especially low floors to be next to a precint pavilion where often funerals are held. (only applies to HDB does not apply to condo units) RB = Low floors may get the smell of rubbish truck collection... etc... The other is if you can try to apply Flying Stars or plot and use it to understand the interior layout. Here the concern is where certain bad flying star numbers may land e.g. #5 hopefully does not land in say the master bedroom etc... The alternative is you may want to consider getting a geomancer to appra…

Dear Max, 1. Typically, the design of a commercial building is influenced by the kind of tenants or tenant mix it attracts, along with other elements such as the nature of the business. 2. When it comes to purely office spaces, I think this isn't a concern. However, for retail establishments, their success hinges on various business factors, such as foot traffic, among others. 3. As long as the office is not in a remote or hard-to-reach area, and if numerous tenants occupy the office space, I believe there shouldn't be any problems. 4. For residential properties, many people would logically prefer to be situated further away from noise, as well as from…

Dear Chris, Overall, the toilet sha qi is in the way of your office and home. To be honest, there is not much one can do here other than to e.g. move out of the office. (Especially the office space). Using mirrors can be a double-edged sword. If the sector happens to be a bad sector; it may bounce back twice the bad luck. And at the moment, if you are not sure of the effects, try not to make it `worse' - should the mirrors inadvertenly bounce back twice the bad luck. Overall, if there is some cure, I would be most happy to share with you but as you are aware, it demands something `physical' such as relocating the toilet or if this is not possible, moving out at the soone…

In the U.S. it sounds similar to the chinese pronounciation, is this correct? Generally, a garage isn't really part of a house. So it can be built separately or added on, but the entry or direction of the garage will not replace the facing of the house. So it really does not matter if it is not possible to enter into the garage from a good direction. Back to …

Please refer to my most recent reply to your last message. In modern times, with our knowlege of what positive and negative ions can and cannot do. And with the common use of silver nano technology - found in some high end washing machines and even can be found embedded into plastic containers... ain't these a better bet than relying on "older" Feng Shui cures? Katrina L. wrote: Hello Cecil, I am wondering if we can use the salt cure to suppress the #2 illness and #5 yellow star? Thanks.
