Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I would like your advise as to what animals are friendly towards a red rat? Based on general rat horoscope signs, then you can refer to this link:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/astrology/astro/crat.htm Which means Rat / Dragon / Monkey horoscope signs should generally be better match. As for the "red" rat, I presume you are refering to a Fire rat? If so, that depends on whether you are a weak fire or strong fire rat. The best element compatibility depends on for weak fire, would be like wood/fire. So when you put together with your favourable horoscope, it can wood/fire dragon or wood/fire monkey for example. While the best element compa…

Dear Anon, There original intention is for monetary use and not for Feng Shui. The larger ones usually have higher monetary value. I hope I have understood your question correctly. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Carla, Carla Rothacker wrote: Here in America, we often have mobile home parks where the homes are set up on a semi-permanent basis. Some are in the form of a single long home of 14 by 70 feet or 16 by 64 feet, while some are made in 2 pieces and assembled on site as what we call a "doublewide" mobile home. Wheels are removed, and the homes in both cases are supported by construction blocks at key points beneath them, sitting upon concrete. Carla Rothacker wrote: Yes, they *can* be moved, but generally are not. It takes a special moving company to do so, and is expensive. Dear Anon, 1. The Flying Star Theory is considered more accurate than the Eight House for two reasons:- 2. It takes into consideration time factor e.g. the age of the building and period of assessment. This was used to the explaination of the rise and fall of dynasties and empires. 3. When we consider the main entrance door, it is not simply the Eight cardinal points of North, South, East, West, North-East, North-West, South-East and South West; but instead, sub-divide each compass point into three sectors. Example For North, you must identify if it is at 0 degrees, 15 degrees or at 345 degrees and then you start to plot a mathemathical model plus also calculate the movem…

Dear Anon, 1. Personally, I feel that the main drawback of a figure eight condominium complex is the shape of the apartments. It tends to circular and not that ideal under `Shapes and Form' Feng Shui. (Especially if the rooms are curved.) 2. It also makes it difficult to place furniture on the side of the curving wall. On has then to try and `correct' the shape by getting custom made furniture. 3. Basically, it is the main synificance of the number 8 that `sounds' attractive. Otherwise, it is like any other developments. 4. One plus point or a demerit depends on the frontage of the house. If the frontage faces outwards, than all the apartments will have in a way water pos…

Cecil As I mentioned previously I have a business, which I recently started =running from a bedroom in my home. The window of my office and my front =door are both on the East side of my house. Hi, Off-hand, it is hard to say what is the best colour for say a building. For a home, the most common colour is `neutral' white if it is the plastered walls. I guess, white is good as it is `better' at deflecting light than dark colours which aborb heats. This also depends on the country you live in. Usually if one is not using white, usualy pastel light shades of colours are acceptable. If one's side of the house is say facing a Yin location e.g. a cemetry, one should try to use a Yang colour to `offset' or neutralise the Yin qi. For a building, if one is using Feng Shui, you may need to consult a Feng Shui consultant to look at the surrouding and recommend a solution…

Hi, This past question posted in the forum and available at this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/ruler.htm will help you to understand the `Imperial Chinese Ruler' and how it is used or not used today:- Question: have a set of antique furniture which was given by my mum. I measured the furniture and it fits the good measures of the Feng Shui Ruler. Is this good? Can you also elaborate more on the Feng Shui Ruler? Yes most `true' antique furnitures (Chinese influence) do have a set of measurements that follows the Feng Shui ruler. As the furniture was given by your mum (to confirm: from her home?) if so, it is OK. For other antique furniture that you want to purchase, wher…

Dear Anon, I believe you are missing the point. Even if a wind chime CAN be used in Feng Shui does not give it an `outright' stamp of approval to be used at one's whims and fancy. The other option is for a person, who is not aware of Feng Shui, liked it and install it. This is based on one's feeling and perhaps six sense. Frankly, this is the last that I will entertain such questions. If you feel that the world perhaps revolves around such objects, please go to other forums that will see the world of commerical products. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. There are sufficient resources to highlight the dangers of using wind chime(s) via SEARCH feature in this forum.

Hi Master Cecil, I have read quite extensively (on internet and on this forum) on position for wall clock but still have some doubts - e.g. I know it is inauspicious to put clock on top of a door but some sources say clock should NOT look inwards into bedroom while others say clock should NOT face a window etc. Can you see attached floor plan of my living room (windows facing north east direction) and let me know which position (in red) is the best to place a wall clock? A - behind dining table but may be looking inwards into the bedrooms B- beside altar but looking out to the windows C-beside a wall to kitchen Note - the position of alt…

I would rather not change the color. I like the dramatic effect it has on the room. So far I have done two things; I changed the painting above the mantel to one with boats on a lake with mainly blue tones and touches of yellow, and I put a plant that trails from the mantel to the floor in a blue pot. My money situation neutralized immediately. I was considering putting a mirror above the mantel and a piece of brass at the top of the opening to keep smoke from pouring into the room (a problem I've had in the past). These are strictly esthetic changes. I would like my money situation to improve even more. Any other suggestions?

In addition to the message below, please note that many Feng Shui Masters feel that if you are installing mirrors please remember not to install too "short " a mirror such that it cut's off a person's head or when you view the mirror, part of your head is missing. This is inauspicious. Do I need a full length mirror? As for the lower part of the body, it is ok if the mirror covers say from the shoulder to the head of the body. For example like the bathroom mirror. You do not need to install a full length mirror. -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Thursday, February 25, 1999 2:27 PM Subject: Re: Two…

Dear Cecil, The NW sector of my house layout is partially missing. Whatever is left are where the toilet bowls are. How badly is this going to affect me as my kua no. is 7? My wife's kua no. is 4. What can I do to remedy this? The North sector is where part of my fridge and (hidden) washing machine are and part toilet where the sinks and shower areas are. I understand that this sector will affect our career and income. What can we do here to improve our career and income luck? Then, there is a very puzzling doubt. We had placed a square indoor pond in the SE sector, left side of main door (South) since we moved in. Not only did it not bring us wealth, we were almostsu…

Dear Eve, My advice is not to have an open mouth fish-shaped earthen-vase even if it is facing the main entrance door. If you have noticed most of the objects e.g. some consider the 3 legged frog, also have a coin in the mouth of the frog and a `crystal' representing a diamond. It is preferred to have an object with a closed mouth and e.g. a coin or any other precious stones in the mouth. This is symbolic of obtaining wealth. Cecil Lee

1. Traditionally, a weak yin earth person's - one of the best careers has to do with the fire element. 2. Food technologist in general can be associated with earth element. If one is a weak earth person, then as a food technologist, it is like adding earth to your weak earth. Here, under ba zi analysis, the career is acceptable, but just an average career - i.e. akin to placing food on the table. Quote: Anonymous wrote: I am a weak yin earth person based on the analysis. hi Mr Cecil Lee, Thx for the prompt reply... Recently, I had consulted a fengshui master on my bazi. According to him, I am a strong metal person. Hence, I should look for careers that are related to the fire element. Is that true? Why is that so? According to you, gambling itself is associated with the earth element. So what will happen if I am in this industry? Furthermore, for the sports gambling industry, I act in the position of a consultant, so does that make any difference? And how abt the interior design industry? hope you don't find me too troublesome. This is because I really need some advice at this point of my life. Your advice will be greatly appreci…

Dear Newsgroup Guest, Frankly, if Feng Shui is to be applied, a home has to be Feng Shuied first before such advise is given. Looks like you may have to use your intuition. Or, often, seek opinion of your spouse and even family members as to which colour; everyone like or prefer. In my opinion, the amount of light filtering thru to this long corridor should be taken into consideration. For example, if the long corridor is often `dark', then, it makes more sense to use a lighter coloured overlay carpet or carpet that can bounce off more light. Then dark coloured ones that often absorb light. Another consideration (not Feng Shui)is that unfortunately, light coloured `heavy'…

Dear Oleta, 1. Frankly, and in my opinion, there are no hard or fast `rules' with regards to the color in a child's room. 2. But rather, it depends. Here, it depends on the location of the bedroom. For example, if the bedroom is facing a west location e.g. windows with direct sunlight that comes into the room. Then use cooler colours or a neutral colour such as white. Here, pink etc.. is not quite appropriate. 3. Some Feng Shui practitioners believe that the bedroom should (I use the word can) be painted to suit the child's Ba Zhi or element. This is quite a common advise provided by many FS practitioners. However, as I always believe, it depends on the level of particip…

Dear Chai, In general, without taking into consideration other factors such as the current `Luck Pillar season' and other factors e.g. the House Feng Shui in relation to the Flying Star of a sector:- For a weak metal person, for personal self-enhancement, the best element is Earth element. The second best element is Metal element. Earth colour - yellow. Metal colour - gold or white. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecil, According to the Flying Star for the East frontage house, you have two proposed solutions: 1) Make use of Fire to destroy and control Metal (this means I should paint my front door RED) 2) Make use of Metal to destroy and control Wood (this means I should paint my front door WHITE) So what color should I paint my front door? Red or White? (FYI, I'm a Strong Water, and I have Zero Fire in my element chart. So probably Red is a better choice. What do you think? Many THANKS in advance to you. Hoa

Dear Hoa Luong, Thanks for your many clarifications. Yes, overall, red is considered an auspicious colour. From your information, I personally feel that it is OK for you to continue with the red painted frontage doors of your convenience store. And this should not have any adverse contrast with the `water' grey colour. Overall, red is indeed an auspicious colour for business. In particular, for example, if it has brass ornaments on it (not compulsory thou). Warmest Regards, Cecil
