Dear Donna, Thanks for your detailed information about the various fountains. Overall, when purchasing a fountain please take note of the following:- 1. Circular fountains are ideal. (Avoid purchasing any fountains with pointed edges, rounded edges are the best). 2. Avoid placing any rocks that symbolises a creature or some unknown shape resembling a person, an animal etc.. 3. Avoid having an animal or fish or any other objects with their `mouth' open facing the house. This will create problems for the breadwinner as a hungry mouth symbolizes a need to feed it. This may bring illness or loss of fortune to the household. 4. A fountain should not be `cluttered' with figurin…

Dear Suzhen, Apologise for the delay in reply. Currently I am unable to do any more house audits for the time being because of my schedule and projects for the website. Perhaps, you may want to get assistance from other Feng Shui Practioners in Singapore. Due to my tight schedule, I am unable to provide assistance in your case or go thru them in detail. What you have analysed using the Eight House Theory is not enough to find out your various `problems'. This is because the Eight House Theory is not a `diagnostic' tool of Feng Shui. More refined tools that can aid a better understanding or improve your situation includes the anaysis of your house using the Flying Star and…

Hi Cassandra Before going any further, I must ask, have you done a Pillars of Destiny Chart (there is a free one on this site) to find out your element ? If not may I suggest you do as if the colors chosen are not complimentary to your element you could have all sorts of problems. IMHO orange seems very strong for a bedroom. Too yang. Needs to be more yin otherwise sleep may be restless. Under the Eight House Directions is your bedroom in one of your auspicious sectors ? Best wishes Glyn

Dear John, Where best avoid purchasing a house with the lift well. This is not good especially it is so close to your main door. The thickness of the wall will also affect the influence. A brief look at the combination effects of the elements looks ok as the elements seems to contain the inauspicious effects. For a more detailed analysis, you can refer to the Flying Star module. If your have auspicious stars such as double 77, it is best if it is found in the main door otherwise the next best alternative is your bedroom or some place where you commonly use. H However, if it is not found in at the main door then, you will not be able take advantage of the add…

Dear Cecil, Thank you for your response. The lot is a residential lot. My husband and I are looking at buying a house, and we found a house that we like very much. It is on a good direction (according to the Eight House calculation) but the lot is irregular shaped with the back smaller than the front, its dimension: 77ft wide at the front and 44ft wide at the back, 1 side is 148 ft long, another side is 138ftlong. I would like some advice if there are any cures or is it worth to purchase the house. Thank You very much. Van.

dear forum memeber, At the outset ,we should say thanks to Mr.cecill and robert for providing world wide fengshui web site and sharing of various views and topics among, our forum members.I once again sincerely appreciate their support and co operation. While refering to your e mail dtd 14-JUN-99,I wish to suggest the following for the placement of elephant faced objects. a}This type of objects could help us, if place it, at the intersecting points of inside walls of the premises as well as out side.i.e which acts as secret dagor. b}This could be also kept in living rooms in which idol should face opposite to the door entrance or diagonaly depends upon the situatio…

Dear Helen, Sorry for the delay in response. You can use `metal' element to counteract the timber as metal destroys wood. You can place e.g. metal tin `circular' metal tin foil on each beam:- 1. Stick 6 metal tin foils or 6 coins on each timber piece. The coins can be any coins e.g. diameter can be 2.5 cm or more. Chinese " ancient " coins (those with square holes in the centre are equally acceptable. If you use the " ancient " coins you can string them with red string and stick them on each beam. 2. What is the purpose? 6 coins represents Big Metal and is used to counter wooden beams. Under the 5 elements concept, Metal destroys Wood. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Simon, Don't worry about it. I understand that you are very young and not the bread winner (not yet I guess). For you, empasis should be placed in your bedroom. One important consideration under Feng Shui is that your Ba Zhi (Eight Characters), for example, the colours of the room should not `clash' with your personal element. You can also take advantage of the Eight House Theory i.e. sleep and study facing one of your good directions. Wishing you continued success in your studies! Hi, Feng Shui should be personalized to an individual to be effective. The most common question asked is: Can something so general be applied to everyone of us? The answer is No. Similiarly, even a " famous Feng Shui Master " should not say that it can apply to anyone. In the Internet or around you, do question any Feng Shui Practioner. Ask them what is the reason for saying so. Each person who says something should backup their words with a reasonal explanation or if it based only on their opinion, I guess, each of us have the right to judge for ourselves. Another way of looking at this situation is, what was mentioned by this " famous Feng Shui Master " does not go down…

Dear Chris, If the doors are used frequently, there are really nothing much you can do. This is because if two doors are facing each other, it signifies that each occupants of either room will not be in good terms with each other. Early this year, one user wrote in to say that his main entrance door faces directly his neighbours and something like one metre between them. He mentioned that they are frequently at logger heads. The only alternative is to see if the doors can be located separately (where possible) if not, you may try to close the door but it may not be effective thou. Dear Pedro, Yes, there are a few considerations for any doors:- 1. It should always open inwards into the house. (Avoid having a door that opens outwards of the house). 2. If it is the main entrance door, the door or doors should be of equal size. The door(s) should be proportionate to the frontage or area of the house. 3. If the door is at the side, it should open towards the wall. 4. It should preferably not be in the "middle " of a room but preferred that it should be at any one of the side of the room. If not the door would be `hanging' in the " middle of the room. " Therefore priority must be given for the door to open inwards. It can be on any side of the room. Wher…

Dear Linh, Yes, you are correct with regards to the toilet next to the main entrance. The two most inauspicious situations are:- 1. Having the toilet next to your home entrance (at either side). This is because the main entrance is like the `mouth' of the house and is considered important as it is considered the first location external Qi comes into the house. 2. Center of the house. Best is to keep the center clear. This is where all intangible forces congregate. A toilet in the center of the house will mean a drain in financial resources. Other situations e.g. toilet at the East, West are equally important but weigthage should be given to the above two points. Any cures…

Dear Irina, Here are the following points to note:- 1. Ideally, the bedrooms should be one of the four auspicious directions (Health, Prosperity, Excellent or Longevity). But it is still acceptable if it is the Irritation or Spook directions. This is much better than the death / disaster location. 2. The following are useful guidelines when using the Eight House Theory:- 2.1 Where possible sleep closer to an auspicious intangible force (If this is not possible, then you do not have much choice.) 2.2 Where possible sleep with the head facing one of the auspiciious directions. But do bear in mind the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. For example under the Four Symbolic …

Dear Debrah, I remembered clearly when I was young and at that time, firecrackers were not banned in my country. Each Chinese New Year, my parents would purchase lots of fire crackers and fire works. I remembered clearly that without fail, two rows of fire crackers measuring around 15 feet were hung on each side of my home's bunglalow house. It was nice to hear the crackers go off and at the end of it, the entire compound including the badminton court was littered in red. Lovely sight. Fire crackers are meant to:- 1. Scare away " evil spirits ". 2. Red symbolises Good Luck. I guess, you can say that fire crackers are part of the " Culture " or practises rather than Feng S…

Dear Lisa, There are a few considerations here:- 1. North East Direction is considered the devil's gate. It is adviseable for you to:- a. Use the Eight House Template to check which intangible force is influencing the main entrance door. Best that it is not the Death / Disaster location. b. It is also good to know which intangible force affects your masterbedroom. As for the North - East Direction or devil's gate, you do not need to worry other than to avoid having a lone large plant on the North East or on the right side of the house i.e. if you are standing on your main entrance and looking outside, you should avoid having a large tree on the right side of the house. c.…

Dear Linh, Here are the following guidelines on the toilet:- 1. Ideal situations are where the toilet bowl should not be actually on the following points:- 0 degrees - North, 45 degrees - NE, 90 degrees - East, 135 degrees - South East, 180 degrees - South, 225 degrees - South West, 270 degrees - West and 315 degrees - North West. Why? Most likely if the toilet bowl is at this location, chances are it will be on one of the Eight Trigrams which can be either an auspicious or inauspicious location. What is the definition of toilet here:- Ideally, this exact compass point should not be the location of the toilet bowl or (sewerage pipe). It is still acceptable for a basin or…
