Dear Bless, In general, plants can be divided into two categories:- 1. Plants that are considered `yang' e.g. the characteristic is that their leaves are `pointed' shape or have thorns eg. cactus and chrysanthenum. 2. Plants that are `yin' eg. leaves that are rounded. In a recent US NASA study on the effects of plants (natural plants) on the environment, it was found that plants (infact most plants but they ranked the plants) are found to be good to be placed indoors and good on the internal environment. It is also considered particularly good if the pot is made of clay. The caution under feng shui is to avoid having too many plants concentrated particularly at the West s…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I am keen to buy a 10 year old condo unit and would like to redo the entire kitchen and bathrooms. By doing this, I understand that the apartment will fly from period 7 to 8. The problem is, the unit number is good for period 7 but bad for period 8. Period 7 : Prosperity, good wealth. Period 8 : Vomiting. Is it possible to prevent from flying to period 8? Please advise. Thanks. Regards. Usually, once you have any major renovation, it will usually automatically fly over to the new luck period. So, in your case, it may be difficult to retain the existing period. In fact, in such cases where you plan to have major renovations, you should be lo…

In my opinion, this is very minor or non-issue. Perhaps, some people may have the following "concerns":- 1. Symbolism Kitchen is where there are knifes, sharp objects and fire element. And maybe your friend feels uncomfortable with placing the family photos, because of these reasons. 2. Perhaps some feel that say using a magnet is not "permanent" and thus may affect "permanent" relationships. 3. Otherwise, if you check out this forum, this question has never surfaced in the last more than 10 or more years of this forum! 4. It is akin to some ridiculous people who say that one should not place shoes or shoe cabinet outside the main entrance area! In my country, rich …

Can I transfer money via Money Gram or Western Union? Reply: Our preferred mode of payment for international clients is still paypal.com since the paypal account is already setup for use and most clients generally do already have a paypal account. However, if for some reason you can't make a payment using paypal. Then we can still accept Western Union, as we did ever use that one or twice before about 10-15 years ago. It was still quite a hassle then to receive the money, hence it was never our preferred payment method. I briefly checked the western union faq and it seems that there is a new option to receive the money via bank account (instead o…

Dear Phei Shen, In my opinion, it would not be advisable to use a mirror for the situation you had mentioned: 1. Mirrors break easily and it would be far worse if it shatters and land downwards especially on a person's face or body. 2. If it becomes to concealed, i.e. pipes etc.. there is no way of knowing that there are small leaks which may turn for the worse. 3. If one uses a false ceiling, it has to completely cover the area rather than turning it into a `beam' effect. Thus, it may not be that good idea to use the `mirror'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, Please read below:- In the traditional, because Feng Shui came from China, the coins used were Chinese coins with a hole in the middle. However, the rational behind the coins is that the number 6 is already strong metal along with the coins being made up of metal creates a strong metal good enough to act as a cure whether or not there is a coin is a Chinese coin or not. Of course if the original coin has a square cut which is represented by earth, does give additional strengths to the coins however, realistically there is no point is purposely searching high a low for such a coin. Therefore, it is not necessary. Feng Shui can be cured with many basic items found …

Generally any commercial non Feng Shui conCAVE mirror may be used if one cannot find those "Feng Shui" type of conCAVE mirror(s). Any mirror so long as it curves inwards is acceptable especially if the mirror is greater than 2 inches or more.

Hi, Chinese culture is quite diverse and each specific `tool' is used for different things. No, Feng Shui cannot possible make you loose weight. However, you have to move up the chain. What is the Chain? In the structure of Feng Shui, Chinese Divinity, Health etc.. there is a chain and if you cannot find your answers, you can move up the chain. Lets look at a very general overview of the Chain:- Highest Level : Taiji Upper Level : Yin and Yang Middle Level : The Five Elements Lower Level : Specific `Applications' such as Feng Shui, Ba Zhi (Eight Characters), Medicine. If you cannot find a certain thing, you look up the higher chain. For example, if loosing weight is n…

Dear Anon, I like your `new cure':) *Joke* So far, I believe no one has fully tested or tested using a mini tiger. Frankly, I have never `experimented' with a mini tiger, so cannot say for sure if it will work. Honestly, I am not sure. Do exercise caution: A tiger is a Yin animal as opposed to the Dragon (particularly the five claw dragon) which is considered the most Yang of all animals. This may upset your use of mini tigers. Majority of the time, the cure is to use Yang elements instead of adding or "accidently" increase the Yin elements. It is best not to reinvent the wheel or this round use what you can find. The added problem is if either the main door or direct opp…

1. For info, usually for a professional Feng Shui audit; the first priority is to review the Ba zi of the Home (using Flying Star) and then it is nice to have say the individual rooms that suits the elements of say the person staying inside that room. 2.Suunto Compass Sorry, you had posted this question, and during the transition to a new server, that message was accidentally - erased. You can find the resources on it, here:- http://www.geomancy.net/wiki/Using_a_Compass_%26_Protractor

Dear Anon, Yes, a mountain star can be activated by a painting or photo e.g. of Mount Fuji. Avoid a photo with streams or rivers at the front of the mountain. It is acceptable for snow to be seen on the peak of the mountain painting. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, I like to share with you that Symbolism is again very important in Feng Shui. Here it is more important to buy the correct type of lamp then deciding how many to use. For example the best shapes of lightings are those with a profile that are pointed upwards: /\ / \ || One should buy lightings that point upwards rather than downwards. This is to signify `progress' or an upward trend e.g. symbolic of success. Let me share with that before the Bank of China building was built, the exterior design has a few " V " and later on the advice of a geomancy, the advise was to change it to " ^ " symbolic of an UP sign. Therefore, here, the shape e.g. ^ is more important than say …

Dear Anon, 1. Some Feng Shui practitioners really believe in using lighting with five bulbs. For them, it’s a way to neutralize Sha Qi in a space. In my view, these practitioners are usually more aligned with the Shapes and Form School. 2. Another group, often those who are more mathematically inclined and rely on Flying Star Feng Shui, tends to pay special attention to the number 5, which is linked to misfortune. I feel that these practitioners have a stronger association between the number 5 and bad luck, so they may prefer to avoid using anything related to the number 5. 3. From my experience working with many cases involving the centrepoint, here’s what I…

Dear Anon, I do not see a problem having a baby in an inauspicious year because, in general, the report is based on the entire year's influence. Here, you will notice that analysis can go further into each month even days and hours. Not all months or days in that year are considered inauspicious to you. It is only a general analysis. Personally, I feel that it is rather not to plan such events. Let nature take it's course. There are many couple who had approached me or many FS consultants to choose dates for the birth of their child. You can consider this `playing' with nature. For one, many a times, if it is a natural birth, it is seldom or rare to find that the date ch…

Dear Cecil, Thank you for your kind reply. Is Pillar of Destiny the same as Zi Wei Tou Shu? What is the duration like for a normal house audit and what does it cover, meaning eg. fengshui cure, individual member, luck, what to wear, avoid, career choice ....etc. Will there also be follow up after that ie. to consult you on certain problems? Are the cures expensive as understand sometime need to renovate the place? Dear Anon, In traditional Feng Shui practise: 1. The number of claws on the dragon is important. The `highest' order is a Five Claw Dragon. Usually, in a home one should not use more than a four claw dragon. 2. The Dragon is the most Yang of all the `animals'. The traditional advise is that a dragon should only be placed "looking out" of a house e.g. facing a main door entrance or through a window. Personally, I use a dragon in my house overlooking a sha qi. I will try to take a picture of it and a brief description and show in under the new conference for picture attachments when I have the time. 3. As a bedroom should be a yin location, it is advised not to place one i…

Dear Anon, It me elaborate that the reason some book authors or Feng Shui practioners advise not to place plants or flowers (especially real flowers) that these are considered Yang especially growing plants. Bedrooms normally should be more Yin location. Based on the little information provided, you can either: As for whether it is bad for marriage, in my opinion, this is a question mark. What I mean here is that we have not much information to go on. Usually, for an accurate picture, it should be looked into after considering both partners element and the strength plus what is the Flying Star at the location. This should provide a deeper analysis. All I can say for now i…

Hi, 1. Basically, best to avoid sharp objects as this can create poision arrows ( or knives) that may be pointed to the bed or the study table. 2. For other objects such as a globe, it is acceptable. In real life, we would like to surround our homes with decorations and this is perfectly ok. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Usually, the Feng Shui Masters use the I-Ching for prediction. As Feng Shui has limited scope and not a predictive tool. In order to do a computer program, the programmer must be as good or better at feeding it the inputs i.e. garbage in garbage out. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. The most common method is to tie the coins through the centre square hole where all six coins overlap each other either in a single row or a `circular' formation. 2. What I have done (as shown in the Conference: Photo Tours) is another method where the three coins x 2 sets spread are spread over a Red Packet (or Red Paper). 3. You can still bind the coins by placing them on top of each other. This is not the norm but symbolically, they are still 6 coins. 4. Some cautious Feng Shui practioners may if they are too ingrained in using the coins as mentioned under Para 1. But usually, your method should work the same way, unless you do not use 6 coins. Warmest R…

Dear Anon, 1. Where possible, try to obtain `old' Chinese coins. It is plentiful as it is now being produced commercially (replicas) all over the world. 2. Where best, traditional Feng Shui uses these `old' coins. 3. In Singapore, our new batch of $1 coins have a trigram profile and I recently used it in my home `to test' it out. It so happens that the `Sickness' sector was right at my bedroom window. I use the Chinese Red Packet (Envelope in Red colour) and used `good quality' 3M scotch tape to tape the coins (two rows x 3 coins) and pasted it on to the Red Packet. So far, I find that it is working. This is because, I had some minor `illness' before this and now, feeling…
