  1. This is an interesting letter to: Streats Magazine dated 31 July 2003. If you have the time, do read it.....
  2. Where possible, see if you try not to buy a unit/apartment where the main door is so close to the kitchen door. In addition, there is an open backyard: where if the main door and kitchen door are opened, there is a straight path (qi leak) out of the `mouth' main door towards the back (backyard). Please see the attached sample layout.
  3. This is an interesting article on the significance of moving-in; buying a property during the 7th month : Can or cannot? and more...
  4. This freehold property is a standalone `point-block' building. (More details can be found under the attached article: Source & credit - Today's Newspaper) As mentioned in past messages, the most simple of designs. Where air or qi flows all around the block.
  5. Dear Carol, 1. Yes, times have changed. 2. In the past, Feng Shui was `local' to the country of China. This is where the `yellow' dust blows south in the country. And often, homes e.g. in Beijing faces South to avoid the cold winds and dust going into homes. 3. But look again, your statement may be true for the Chinese in their "motherland" but it is no longer true for overseas Chinese. 4. We are now entering or pratising "Globalised Feng Shui" all over the world. 5. We often heard of the term "black magic". Where people like bomohs or vodoo practitioners do bad or harm to people. Often, we see western shows where needles are nails were pricked into dolls. 6. On the other hand, there is also black Feng Shui. For example; even in Singapore, some foreign developers bring along Feng Shui practitioners to advice them on buildings that can absorb wealth from other buildings. These Feng Shui practitioners scan the other buildings and advise their clients to build in a certain design. 7. A classic example is in Hong Kong where Bank of China building was Feng Shui to try and draw wealth from it's surroundings. If you do visit Hong Kong, do stare upwards at the HSBC building. You can see TWO HUGE "CANNONS" aimed towards the Bank of China building. 8. `White' Feng Shui as the term suggests is to build YOUR BUILDING or advise a client to built a building in harmony with it's surrounding or even if it does not harmonise - at least it does not have sharp corners or even things like reflective glass and other designs that becomes a poison arrow/sha qi to it's neighbours. 9. For example, in Singapore, if one stares carefully at the UOB building, it does not have poison stars aimed at it's lower twin tower. But instead, `emit' sha qi all around. The UOB building is also like a tall thin tree or considered as wood element. Here, under the Five elements concept: Wood crush earth e.g. DBS tower 1 and DBS tower 2 are earth element. OCBC building is also earth element. 11. In addition, OUB bank building is a fire element. And UOB (being wood element) helps fuel fire element. 12. In my opinion, the most black Feng Shui building around is The Gateway http://www.streetdirectory.com.sg:8080/map.jsp?x=30777.66&y=31305.566&star=1&xyfile=&level=7&heading=100+BEACH+ROAD%2C+SHAW+TOWERS+%28189702%29&oldX=30605.39&oldY=30985.95&postal=189702&Click+Any+Point+To+Centralise+Map.x=259&Click+Any+Point+To+Centralise+Map.y=239 It is very bad luck to build any building "above it" e.g. at the plot of land just across the road above the "red star" indicator. In fact, I know of several people who had sighted "spirits" in one of the two towers. This is what `black' Feng Shui is all about. In the past, as mentioned in some of my past messages, "Monks" who practise or advise on Feng Shui often, prefer to go more for `white' Feng Shui - which does not try to harm thy neighbour .. sort of thingy. Warmest Regards, Cecil CArol
  6. Dear Spencer, 1. Yes, I totally agree with your comments. 2. When Dahlia Park TOP, the condo was like a second home as I had clients in nearly all the blocks. 3. What strikes me was that even if these are condos, as you had mentioned, they are firstly freehold; 4. In an exclusive private residential area with both low rise and even all condos in the area has a height restriction or often called `semi-low' rise condo apartments. Most likely because of airport restrictions on the outer-zone. 5. I always felt peaceful, within this private residential encave. Nowadays, it could even be worse-off is to stay close to embassies especially the American or British as often these are prime targets... 6. Looking at Block 100, #62, this looks like a good unit. As you had mentioned, it has good plot ration and qi flow within the estate is harmonious. Even within block 100, qi seems to flow smoothly inwards. 7. The gradient with a water feature in front of the unit, is good as it is symbolic of wealth collection at the frontage. 8. In fact, as mentioned in my earlier message, this development draws parallel to CDL's The Signature Park condo at Toh Tuck Road (freehold). The only difference is that it has higher units. But generally, it has this kind of gradient development as found in Edelweiss Park condo. 9. Recently, a user had asked my opinion of the two CapitaLand's development at Palm Grove/Palm Haven (999 yrs). I would instead much prefer one of the few last enclave - Flora Road/Flora Drive area:) If you are truly interested, if it is me, I would go for it:) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. I forgot to mention, here... Most probably, the most logical means to support what was mentioned " internal measurement " could instead imply i.e. "for-the-dead" who is often "ENCLOSED INSIDE" A coffin or inside the building housing the dead. Here, in my opinion, it would "therefore make more sense that the interior measurement USES the 10 sectors. Perhaps, this could explain why, some people may have mistaken that it can be used together. In another example, I had previously mentioned the 2-Step and 3-Step method for counting steps. If we are to feasibly use both "formulas" something has to give. We would need to MERGE the measurements into ONE measurement - to make much sense of these two different repeating counts. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Spencer, Further to what I had mentioned; if we look at it from a different perspective: "an eight sector formula co-exists within it's own internal workings." "In my opinion, it is difficult to see how another formula "such as the 10 sector" could have being worked into the interior measurements." Assuming that even if we do use the 10 sectors for the interior: in my opinion, it seems highly impractical to have different thickness of wood - "to fit" or accomodate the measurements. (Since - different formulas would "create" or cause to create different lengths of wood (thickness size). Imagine, what it is like today. Most furniture makers will either charge an exhorbitant fee or (think) that the designer of the furniture had "flew over the cuckoo's nest". Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Question: Own a FREE pond or swimming pool? YES/NO? IF NO, please close this e-mail. IF YES, please read on.... FIRST - READ THE "FINE PRINT" BELOW:- =================================== 1. Presently, YOU MUST stay in IRAQ. 2. Your home should preferably in Tikrit or in a neighbourhood friendly to SADDAM H. 3. You MUST have HATED (not dislike) BUT TRULY HATE your neighbour. 4. Your neighbour must own a sizeable land (next to your landed property). NEXT ==== 5. Find out the HOT-LINE or if there is ever a 1800 number for the US intelligence service located in your Iraq community. 6. Determine whether you want a koi pond or a swimming pool. If, a swimming pool, determine whether you want a shallow or deep pool. 7. Decided what you want? 8. Call the US intelligence Hot-Line. Informant making a call to the US Intelligence: Option 1: A shallow koi pond will do ==================================== "I believe the `number one' (on your playing card) is now sleeping at the ground level of my neighbour's home." Option 2: A deep swimming pool ===================================== "The `number one' is in my neighbour's special bunker that has 6 inch thick walls." Next ==== 9. (Just in case) Bring family members out of home to a hotel (far enough but still audible range of sounds made by smart bunker busting bomb) for the moment. Next ==== 10. If loud (thundering sound heard).. rush to home. PRESTO! if all goes well, one has killed two birds with one stone.. " GOT RID OF NEIGHBOUR " plus, own a sizeable pond or swimming pool. Next ==== Pray for RAIN. Erh.. no harm intended. If you had guessed, this is a *JOKE*
  10. The Malaysian Prime Minister's view about why Malaysia is not afraid of China's rise to power.... The morale of the story: Like all (most) people in the world; Yes, there are suicides.. but NO, Chinese don't strap themselves with explosives and blow-up themselves AND THE INNOCENT.
  11. This tip can be classified under Common sense Approach to Feng Shui Question: Is it auspicious to place the dinning table facing the main entrance door? Often, in many homes (Singapore); and most likely in many other homes all over the world; many of us would place food / bread and other food stuffs and even fork, knife etc.. on the dining table. Take an example of a family of 5 (Husband, wife, 3 children) . The wife (usually the homemaker) would often prepare the food and in a small home, place food on the dinning table. The three children may most likely come home earlier. And the spouse and children may have their dinner earlier. The husband, who works over-time may come back later. (To eat the `left-over' food on the dinning table. Here, the idea is that if we choose to leave our door open, and if we live in an apartment, neighbours passing thru the common corridor could get to see food on our dinning table. Alternatively, if the dinning table is always cluttered with food, drinks etc... and since first impression counts; it would be best to keep the dinning table away from main entrance (view). Another inauspicious symbolic thing is not to have things like fork and knifes facing the main door. Next time, if someone ask you this same question: Is it auspicious to place the dinning table facing the main door... you can now better explain it:) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Robert and myself are both deeply touched by a user's e-mail which we had received today:- We have not asked the user's permission but decided to extract out the non-sensitive information in the user's e-mail. -- Start of e-mail -- Greetings! I have just discovered your site at geomancy.net and have fallen in love! I have been disabled and unemployed for awhile and have been using the time to learn more about Asian culture and Feng Shui! When I was younger, (information snipped ) ... myself while in graduate school. I noticed a few small errors here and there in your free teaching materials, and made a quick rewrite for your perusal, and *only for your use*. This was done via Microsoft Word 2000 in the document called "Principles of FengShui.doc". This edit was made using American English in a "printer friendly" format. This copy will never be given to anyone else or published in any way electronic or otherwise. If you should find this copy useful to you, please feel free to make any changes, and if you wish, make it available to your students via your free materials pages on your website. This quick edit was made with the spirit that, because you have given so much information for free, I wished to give you something back in return. Be Blessed and Thank You! 13. Dear Spencer, 1. The first ever documented information on the Chinese Feng Shui ruler was in the Sung dynasty - where the imperial furniture maker made furniture based on the 8 sections or for Yang (homes for the living). 2. For example, in the past, to illustrate - feng shui dimensions of a door is taken from the interior dimension of the door frame. 3. In this example, it is not right to take say the hypothesis of the external frame with auspicious measurements based on e.g. the 8 sectors measurement and take the interior frame measurement with the 10 sectors measurement. 4. Here, since the main door is such a critical element or often we called this the most critical qi flow into the home or the `mouth' of the home, the EXACT mouth should (MUST) be auspicious based on the Yang 8 sectors measurement. 5. In fact, often, the external frame and internal frame dimensions can also fall within auspiciousness under the 8 sectors ruler. 6. From what I understand from the first documented material on the Feng Shui ruler; Yang Feng Shui thus uses the 8 sectors. Where there are 4 good and 4 bad sectors on the Feng Shui ruler. 7. No offence: But, frankly, Feng Shui is all about harmony and balance and often, many of us cannot afford to tailor-made our furniture. For example, in Singapore, in the past and even present many business use "standard table length sizes". Such as: Clerical Officer (Customer Relations Officer) length = 4 feet Supervisors/Assistant Managers/Managers = 5 feet length 5 feet length is suppose to be auspicious while 4 feet length is not. Does it mean that it spells doom for the Clerical officers? In today's world, in Singapore, retrenchment are equal or even more for middle-managers than clerical staff. Can we blame inauspicious table for business failure? 8. In Feng Shui, often what matters most e.g. for a built in cupboard is not the internal measurement (here, when we close the door) it becomes a vacuum area and cannot be seen! Frankly, there are better things to do in life than to carry a measuring tape to measure all the `interior' of "all" cabinets. In my opinion, the morale of this story is " TOO FREE " - perhaps, this can explain or be the excuse we may want to use for e.g. a business .. failure. There are measurements for Yang vs Yin buildings. And, lesser likelyhood to `justify' for such a luxury like " a different measurement for internal measure." Whatever it is; please do not post my message or any parts of it to any other forums or site. I want to have nothing to do with these people. Cheers! Warmest Regards, Cecil regards spencer On
  14. This is an alternative paranomic picture of Ngee Ann City " bright hall" http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?action=view&link=Buildings/Commercial_Buildings/Ngee_Ann_City&image=mingtangoutsidengeeanncity.jpg&img=0&search=mingtang&cat=all&tt=&bool=and Warmest Regards, Cecil i would like to find out more abt how the fengshui affect the design of Hyatt Hotel..in this case, after i have read some of your comments on this forum, i understand that Hyatt Hotel, Spore is design in such a way that it is using the 'Castle Gate Theory'. Can you explain more on this theory?y is the door tilted in 45degrees and not other degrees?y is it that in Hyatt's case it will only work with the 'Time Dimension'?what do you really mean by the time dimension thingy? Carol
  15. Dear Carol, Some pictures of the Hyatt can be seen here:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?img=0&search=hyatt&cat=all&bool=and&x=11&y=17 In fact, I had taken many more and these pictures are lying somewhere in this vast resources - of the Ming Tang or bright hall (water feature) outside the Hyatt Hotel in a semi-circular arch radiating out of this site. I also remembered several write-up which I had written on the purpose and ideas behind the "Castle Gate Theory". I remembered, placing a few articles under the topic: Feng Shui Tips - but nevermind, simply do a search under this forum for " Castle " or "Castle Gate" to find out more. I also remembered, that I mentioned also this theory in relation to the "Time-dimensions" or Flying Star. the time dimension For the "time dimension thingy"; it simply refers to the "Compass School - Flying Star Feng Shui" which is based on time periods e.g. house built between 1984 to 2003 is under Period 7 etc... I would expect NEW users here to do a search especially in this forum for words like "Flying Star" etc... or nearly any subject that you are interested in e.g. fountain, fish tank, steps. You can usually find answers faster this way. And, if a question often is repeated, I may not even approve it - when I moderate the questions posted. Worse, the question may end up in the "trash-bin" - Samples that were not answered to.." Warmest Regards, Cecil Carol
  16. Dear Spencer, Honestly, I (myself) is a free-thinker and like many others be it a free-thinker, Catholic or Christian or other religions had not any specific preparations on this. I strongly believe, we should still continue as usual. The only exception for us Chinese are: 1. Avoid "move-in" to a new home or new office 2. "Venturing" out. For example, avoiding going to the beach for a swim or bringing children e.g. forces of nature. Otherwise, human activity of going to work as per normal, attending meetings, shopping etc... should remain the norm. Last year, because of the downturn, many condo developers even offer SPECIALS if people purchase a unit from them. There is really no harm, both in signing a purchase agreement for a new condo development etc.... As the saying goes... " Life must go on as usual "... In fact, even in the 7th month, I have always been very busy as ever with FS appointments - survey and audits. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Spencer, In my opinion, most of the better units have already been taken up. Contrary to popular belief; if you check thru some of my previous reviews, quite alot of sunken land sites seems to be auspicious (wealth collection sites). A few months ago, I was going thru with one of my clients on the remaining units. In particular, at that time: units 36, 37. 24 and 19 were still available, most likely since they may be affected by the afternoon sun. Frankly, I had been staring at the Edelweiss site plan for quite sometime in the past, and to me, it resembles the New Zealand Kiwi bird. Since the Kiwi bird does not have wings, I personally feel that the choice units are at Blk 82 Flora Drive is considered the best. This resource will give a better idea of what I meant:- http://www.myhome.com.sg/edelweisspark/siteplan.shtml Since, often, there is seldom a `bird' shape like condo; there are few precedents on what to make of it. (The other bird like condo is The Signature Park which looks like a duck and the entire condo slopes from high to low). If one looks carefully at Block 96 Flora drive, and if one looks at the entire condo, even a flightless bird has wings:) This looks interesting and auspicious. Another interesting observation: If one looks carefully, the center water position looks like the throat (24 Island With Pavilion & Timber Bridge) and digestive system right towards the `stomach' ( 7 Upper Deck Swimming Pool, 8 and 9). Overall, it looks like a whole `exotic' bird i.e. exclusive. In fact, I very much like the other development close-by: Dahlia Park condominium at Flora Drive. This area is just outside the fringe of Pasir Ris Drive 1. In my opinion, Flora Drive/Road area, should remain an exclusive private condominium area (away from HDB development). And its proximity to the SLE/PIE/ECP is an advantage. It is also close proxmity to Loyang Industrial park. Many of my clients at Dahlia Park either travel frequently overseas or work close-by in the vicinity. In my opinion, there is not a big issue with the Changi Prison. What is `worst' for most of us instead, is to look at the Inland Revenue Building:( You would have guess, that recently, I had visited several condos; my luopan, always `felt' shy of facing the Inland Revenue building! As usual, p.s.f. should also to be considered. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Spencer, You have to understand that not all Feng Shui rulers were created the same. In fact, there are as many as 4 to 5 versions of the Feng Shui Ruler. In fact, majority of the rulers OFTEN, have the top most readings for Yang Feng Shui. But, I have seen some FS rulers that have purely Yin Feng Shui alone or on the top as what you had mentioned. Reference page for Feng Shui ruler in Geomancy.net:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-ruler.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear All, Another good indicator when house-hunting (especially for more afforadable 99 year lease) apartments is to take note of: 1. "Unsold" units in a development that had already obtained TOP for more than 1 year and yet no take up for "choice units" as found under this relatively new developer's developments:- http://www.ntuc-choicehomes.com/available.htm Here, they have listed three `not so' hot selling properties especially Tropical Springs and Rivervale Crest:- 1. Tropical Springs It should have been a good sell considering that it is in walking distance of the Simei MRT station. But, yet choice units remained unsold. 2. Rivervale Crest I had previously reviewed this condo. I really do not like this condo. And have turned down several new requests for on-site audit here. 3. Parkgreen - Is there a roasted pig somewhere? This is an executive condo. Neverthless, it has one of the cheapest p.s.f. ranging from as low as $281 to $360 p.s.f. (A few units were sold at transacted prices of $380 p.s.f. often those with good view). It is quite interesting to take a look at "executive condos" for first time buyers since; these buyers were given a government grant. The only restriction is a predetermined period where they cannot sell. What I find most interesting about executive condos is that in the future; many who can no longer afford keeping their much higher priced condos; there could be a chance where some of these people downgrade... some because of their pride, may not want to downgrade to a HDB flat, but instead look at buying an executive condo. Not that the price of executive condos can go up; but rather, my best bet is that perhaps, they being cheaper and more affordable; has a higher liquidity state - in the future. Try to look at this site that has the profile of a roasted pig:- http://www.tiongbahruroastedpig.com.sg/ Next, take a look at the Park Green sitemap (under the attachment) Can you see a mouth devouring a roasted pig? Best units are at the `mouth' facing this roasted pig. 4. Grandeur 8 Perhaps, NTUC Choice homes are getting the hang of what users want. This new launch is so far their most popular. And good selling rate. I bet that Rivervale crest would continue to remain unsold for quite sometime, anyway. Once again, best wishes on your house hunting! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Location: 1 Amber Road Street directory map:- http://www.streetdirectory.com.sg:8080/map.jsp?x=35255.9000&y=31246.7900&postal=439845&level=7&star=1&heading=1%20AMBER%20ROAD,%20AMBER%20POINT%20(439845) Developer: Vermilio Investment Pte Ltd (Allgreen Properties Ltd) Tenure: Freehold TOP: in 1990 Total units: 100 units comprising 3, 4 rooms and Penthouse units This is one of the few developments in Singapore that has an arch:- http://www.allgreen.com.sg/website/images/p_amberpoint_closeup.jpg The advantage of this type of layout plan is that it is purely an earth shaped. But the main advantage is that the lower floors (except for the penthouse) is much like any other `point' blocks. Here, air or qi can flow thru and around each of the blocks. This is to allow `dragon' qi from the land to pass thru it .. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Jennifer, Palm Grove Condominium Both Palm Haven and Palm Grove share the same developer: CapitaLand. Both are 999 year leases. Palm Haven's lease started from 1/9/1876. While Palm Haven's has a better advantage since it started from 1999. Currently, this area only allows for low rise residential estate. Therefore, both Palm Haven and Palm Grove have low rise units. Each development at 4 storey high. Besides consideration such as the remaining lease time-limit and psf; in terms of external Feng Shui, the smaller development (Palm Haven with 48 units as oppose to 111 units for Palm Grove) has better shapes and forms. If one notice the attached site plan for Palm Haven: 1. It looks like a crab with two claws - which seems auspicious. In an alert position. 2. Air pockets is allowed to circulate into the development (water positions). As for Palm Grove, the external shapes and forms is not ideal since all the internal units seems to be `entrapped' in an inner circle - which is not advantages for qi flow. In terms of Feng Shui, if I were deciding between the two, I could perhaps, select Palm Haven (provided the facing positions etc... is favourable to me). I believe, the developer still has outstanding units in either of the development. In my opinion, a reasonable buy would be in the region of $620 p.s.f or less. (Please note that for sites that include Personal Enclosed Space PES or Penthouse, often, the p.s.f. is much lesser e.g. the 3room apartments in Palm Haven with psf that may go down to as low as $590 or there abouts. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear George, 1. In my opinion, we must be very practical in our lifes. 2. Under symbolism in Feng Shui, the closest to "auspicious" house number is as shown in the sample attachment. 3. Look at it this way: A house is not like a car in most parts of the world. This is because, how often, can we change our house numbers vs how often can we change cars and car plate? 4. Often, when we purchase a house, we are literally stuck with the naming convention of that specific street or avenue. 5. Even under numerology, there are so many ideas of what is or is'nt auspicious. The saying goes: "One man's meat is another man's poison". Even in the west, some people are supersitious with number 13. While others simple adore it. Some people dispise the number 666 as associated with `devil'. But tell it to the Chinese hokkien dialect group: where 6 sounds like " LUCK ". So, triple six means Luck, Luck, (and more) Luck? House numbers we cannot change. But, nowadays, there may be some respite for those who have poison arrows e.g. such as a sharp corner of another building. Simply make friends with Osama bin Laden and his gang and ask him to do a favour; help one to flatten thy neigbhour's home = PROBLEM SOVLED! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Glyn, Please send my regards to Phil and all your lovely children:) Yeah, I can understand what you mean:) Nowadays, a voice amplifier or *joke* perhaps, do get yourself a CD of the sound of waves. I have seen such CDs around selling in some shops. For sure, do try out those CDs with gentle sea waves. Avoid getting those that sound like the force of a Tsusami wave... swoosh.. erh... which might literally sweep one off one's feet. Do take care! And hope you recover from your sinus! Erh..perhaps? *JOKE* When young.... when you were in your mum's womb; perhaps, your well developed ears felt comfortable, just maybe, she heard that playing sounds was good for you:) And you ended up - comfortable with the `waves':) Cheers!
  24. Dear Jane, Frankly, looking at most of the messages in this forum, I have this to say: "Gua or Kua is not a cure-all". Often, I find users quoting their Gua numbers and expect miracles to happen. Or totally disappointed that it cannot do much. I have often elaborated to apply the three-step approach: Step 1: What is the PURPOSE of each concept? Step 2: What is it's strengths? Step 3: What is it's weakness? There are two senarios: 1. Either the family has nothing better to do than to complaint or 2. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, most probably; they have #3 or #4 at the main door etc... Here, there is relatively not much one can do `to be placed' at their home. Other than if they do it themselves. 3. If you home has #3 or #4 or if your main entrance is close to theirs, perhaps, you may try to hang a six-rod hollow windchime to dispel or break bad #3 or #4 or a combination of it. Well, I am guessing here, since; we are not sure, the sector elements of your home. 4. Often, I understand that it is quite hard, but, often it takes two hands to clap. So, if the neighours complain, either avoid them or if their complains are geniune, see what had made them angry - within norms. For example, is it the noise of one's pet dog? Or did one's pet trespass and donate some pooh to the neighbours? Usually, there must be a trigger-point for a neighbour to complaint or cause-of-complaint. Sometimes, talking to one of the `reasonable' neighbour's spouse could help. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. dear Anon, 1. Yes, I strongly believe that good authors often state facts. 2. Even if our homes is miles away from the sea; we are literally affected by daily high/low pressures. 3. Even the idea of full moon i.e. our moon is many thousands of mile high; yet, there were documented cases of people's mood affected by the magnetic force of the moon. We can literally see high/low tides based on the moon's gravitational pull. 4. Even the Grand Duke theory is based on the planet Jupiter .. which is said to be the biggest planet and thus have a `magnetic' influence on our planet earth. 5. Thus, one must never, never discount: Macro Feng Shui. 6. Yet, time and time again, we human beings are being `connned' by persons who invent marketing ploys. 7. Recently one user asked, why the rich kept antiques. As the word suggests, antiques are suppose to be `rare'. 8. But, what comes out of the marketing ploy today are things like three-legged toads that roll out of the production line. Are these antiques? 9. I am truly sadden by the fact; that many Feng Shui practitioners today; who `prey' on all of us: giving us the notion of what "We all want to hear". 10. In fact, go to most Feng Shui practtioner's sites and one finds all kinds of "Feng Shui" products. 11. As mentioned, these products costs little to make but, is very lucrative money with high mark-ups for the sellers. There was an earlier message by Wasis who had asked an almost similar question. Landed property often is `different' from a condo or flat/apartment. Some of these apartments are literally concrete / cement and many of those that face e.g. West, have direct sunlight or heat absorbed into that facing. For a landed property, there is often a difference. Most landed property is often not more than 3 storey high. And, one of the advantages is that of a ^ inverted V shaped roof. Where air there is an air-pocket between the roof and the ceiling. Often, these landed property also have landscaping e.g. plants or trees to shade the house. As you had mentioned, simple things like awning do provide side to these landed properties. In fact, a house should conform as much as possible to the shapes and forms. And not purposely tilted in an odd-shape vis-a-vis the site/land. No matter how, in my opinion, a North-South house is still a better choice even for the `Western' group people. Here, if one constructs an entirely new home, the bedroom locations can be specifically tailored to be suitable to the `West' group people. The idea of West or East group has less weightage than Shapes and Forms of a home. Rather than say that all NW or SE facing is not suitable to have water at their frontage; we should understand the key principle behind such an idea. And if you know how to draw a Luo Shu grid, then test out the hypothesis. Please note that even under each sector, there are always three sub-sectors. Thus NW has NW1, NW2, NW3. While SE has SE1, SE2 and SE3. They key ingredient to understanding why no water has to do with #7. Under Period 7, it is said that #7 is auspicious under this period. This is true for any other numbers found in that period. Thus under Period 5, even an inauspicious star like #5 - because it is under Period 5, is said to be auspicious under that period. In other periods #7 is a bad element other than in Period 7. For example:- 20-Year Reigning Period: 7 (1984-2003) House Direction: NW2 (315) The NW sector stars are: #7 mountain with #9 water and #8 base star. Under Period 7, the significance of this will be:- Five Element Analysis (Mountain vs Water) Analysing: Weak Metal (7) vs Weak Fire (9) Relationship Analysis Metal (7) is controlled by Fire (9). Fire element helps to destroy Metal weaken it. Thus, this is considered an auspicious combination. Under Period 8, #7 has now become a bad star. Under the five elements concept:- Metal produces -> Water If we use water or add water to #7 (metal) then, water increases and drowns Fire (9). The Fire elment which was suppose to destroy or weaken Metal has been extinguished. And this bad metal element combined with water element will change the whole equation. The key here is to have a solid understanding of the Five Elements concept. Proper authentic Ba Zi also is based on the Five elements concept. And Proper Flying Star Feng Shui is also based on the Five elements concept. Thus in this equation: the lowest common denominator or LCM is the Five elements concept. Therefore, if we look at Feng Shui seriously, it is purely based on logic and the application of the Five elements. If you are interested in Flying Star, please take up a course on it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
