Date: Monday, April 26, 2010 11:31 AM Subject: Invitation for Talks Dear Master Cecil, Greetings from (such and such company name removed). We are interested to invite you to give a Fengshui talk during our Tea Reception at our outlets. It will be our honor to invite you to give a Fengshui talk in conjunction with Jewellery (if possible) on how and what type of jewellery can enhance on ones health, wealth and etc. The target audience of the talk would be largely our members and walk in customers if any. We are looking at 15-30 audiences depending on the size of the branches. I would greatly appreciate if you can answer to my enquires as below, - understand from the website that talks from your establishment are Free (any limitation on the type of talks?) - do you give talks for small groups? E.g.12 pax - can arrangement be done for Saturday afternoon? E.g. 1400hrs to 1530hrs - would it be possible to arrange Talks with you for our various branches on various Saturday? I look forward to your positive reply. Thanks & Regards, (Company name removed) My reply e-mail: Dear (name removed), 1. Thanks for your invitation for Feng Shui talks. 2. Frankly and honestly, the specific area of Feng Shui is only about earth luck e.g. one's home and work place. 3. Unfortunately, Feng Shui, has been "misused" by some to equate Feng Shui with such things as "Feng Shui" jewellery. 4. The area of jewellery may perhaps be linked more to the once upon a time many know our culture or books soley on Chinese Astrology signs. And maybe perhaps, like it's cousin the Western zodiac signs can be associated with say different stones for different purposes. 5. Thus honestly, (no hard feelings) if one should associate jewellery with Feng Shui; this is a modern commercial invention and in my opinion, has never been activitely done by I believe yourself or your competitors. As this is not the right approach. 6. Under the Chinese Holy trinity of luck: 6.1. Heaven luck relates to when we are born i.e. born with and analysed via Ba zi 6.2. Earth luck is purely Feng Shui of the land : the environment, site, building and place. 6.3. Human or man luck factors: relationship with family members, bonding. 7. In general, and in my opinion, academically; this is why we often don't see an arrangement of a Feng Shui Master associate themselves with "jewellery". Of course in some countries, we do get some Geomancers associating themselves with "in the name of Feng Shui" jewellery. But as mentioned, authentic Traditional Feng Shui has never been associated in the past with such things. 8. Thus, Feng Shui goes hand in hand more with real estate companies and for some general knowlege on Feng Shui but in Singapore, no respectable Geomancer would associate jewellery with Feng Shui. 9. Once again, many thanks for your invitation - as I reget I have to decline this invitation. Wishing you all the best in your endeavour! Lots of Health, Wealth and Happiness. 1. Under Symbolism in Feng Shui, the main concern of the bed-head sharing the same wall as the kitchen is IF the location of the stove is directly opposite one's bed-head position. 2. Thus, there is no major issue so long as the above Para 1 does not happen. 3. If directly behind the bed-head is a preparation table or small breakfast table area or fridge or even washing machine - all no issue at all. 4. Again, there is very few homes (if any) that are totally "perfect". Even those we tend to built from scratch also may have some issues. 5. Therefore, a missing corner at South is not that bad. 6. Flying Star considerations. 6.1. Assuming that such an apartment Flying star is between 1984 to 2003; or Period 7; then; 6.2. For a Period 7, NW facing home; the "unfortunate" thing is that the water wealth #8 current prosperity star is trapped at the centre of the home. If the centre is enclosed by e.g. the toilet or corridor; then in Feng Shui we call such a home "small luck". 6.3 For a Period 7, SE facing, the currrent prosperity star #8 is instead is the Mountain star - centrepoint. Here, this apartment characteristic is also small luck and family related issues. 7. Generally, I have already discussed this before, there are better facing directions. For example: South facing is far more superior to a SE facing direction. Or that in many cases (with exceptions) SW and NE may have better qi (mainly for wealth -- other than to correct health issues for these two facing directions). P.S. I have increased the number of bytes allowed for posting attachments. However, always try to keep the file size of attachments small. Anonymous wrote: 1. Is it ok if the Master Bedrm shares the same wall as the Kitchen. Due to the layout of the Master, the owner place the bed against this wall which shares with the KitchenStove. Isthis bad? It is hard to place thebed becauseeither it will share with Kitchen wall or the other wall where our legs will point towards the Master bathrm door. 2. There is a missing corner in the South but it is outside of the house. So it is ok? Hubby is under East group and I belongs to West group. Door faces SE and Living faces NW. Thank you for your time.

Date: Monday, 26 April, 2010 12:32 PM Dear Master Cecil, My most sincere apology on my ignorance to Feng Shui. Hope this does not offend you in any ways and thank you very much for the clarification and teachings. Thank you. My Reply:- Dear (name removed), No problem ) Thank you for your kind understanding! I am very glad you understand that truely Feng Shui is not a "cure all" nor should be "misused" e.g. in-the-name of Feng Shui -

1. Last Saturday, an existing client who had recently sold their condominium unit and bought a landed property. 2. He asked me whether should he change his main entrance door position? As he felt that the main gate should not open directly towards the main entrance door. 3. Please see attached illustration showing: Layout Plan A and Layout Plan B. 4. These are the considerations:- 4.1. Contrary to my client's belief, especially in Singapore; especially for terrace houses; in my opinion 50 percent of all such terrace homes have either their main entrance directly facing the main gate (as shown under Layout Plan: A). 4.2. And the rest of the 50 percent of all terrace homes have thier main entrance door as shown under Layout Plan: B). 5. As the main entrance door is considered as the "mouth" of the home. And as we all know, the mouth is a very important organ of our body. It should not be subject e.g. to "cuts" or "sores" in the mouth be it on the mouth wall (skin) and /or the tongue. 6. In the earlier message, I mentioned that a gate with arrow heads on the wrought iron gate is not advantages. As it creates a "personal" poison arrow aimed into one's home. 7. Under Layout Plan A; as the gate can be opened, some prefer to "safe guard" their main entrance door, by changing it to Layout Plan B. So that any road signs or lamp post does not inadvertently "cuts" into the main entrance door area. 8. Thus, as most local Singapore homes have solid fence wall, the most vulnerable area is the main gate area as shown under markings in PURPLE A to B range. 9. On the other hand, even if we change the main entrance door to Layout Plan B; but if we do have sliding glass doors at this area and the living room is now at this area/sector; again it does not make any difference or in fact, it is worse off as the entire living room area with the silding door area is exposed to or may be exposed to external threats like one's own gate with pointed arrows etc... 10. In another situation, if a person installs a "stand-alone" side gate as shown in the attached Layout Plan: B; should the side gate be opened all the time, it is considered inauspicious, also. (Here, the concept is that spirits or ghosts is saidto - can only move in a straight line.) 11. Thus, if one were to drive past landed properties especially estates with terrace homes; as I had mentioned it is close to 50-50 where the main entrance door is situated. 12. There are many other different layout plans. But for this layout plan; Layout Plan B has one advantage in that the main entrance door does not "face" the staircase. 13. Other considerations? 13.1. Should I have make my entrance gate "air-tight" e.g. using layers of wood panels to block view into my home? 13.1. If there is no poison arrows facing the main gate e.g. from the Layout Plan A; between purple markings A to B, then this is not necessary. 13.2. It may be necessary if the home is at a "T-junction". 14. I have a car that is parked in my home's car park. Wouldn't this be shielding my main entrance door from sha qi? 14.1. Sometime or the other the purchase of a car is for us to drive it around. And it is not that the car is stationery or at a fixed spot 24 hours a day. When we drive our car, it is no longer parked in the car park. Of course if one has two or more cars. But still, they have to move sometime or other.

1. It is stronglyrecommended not to install or try to avoid installing"arrow head" grilles for home main gates and even windows. 2. In this example; where the main entrance door is facing the gate, the gate has some arrow heads "aimed" at one's own main entrance. Not a wise choice, thou.

1. The lowest common denominator: The Five Elements concept is involved. 2. For example #9 (fire element) may cause more trouble when combined with 2-5 combination. 3. While #6 (metal) can help to reduce 2-5 combination etc.... Kevin K. wrote: Dear Cecil, In the flying stars theory, what happens if annual (good) star (ie 1,6, 8 and 9) is in a bad (period star 2-5 combination) sector? Do we look more to the annual or period star? Kindly advise. Kevin

This is a Qing dynasty type of Qi Lin design. This design was popular in China's Qing dynasty era of 1644 to 1911. Under the Qing (Manchurian) rule, the Manchus interpretation of a Qi Lin is like what was shown above a gate at Limbok Terrace area (off Yio Chu Kang). Can you see the Qi Lin with the head of a dragon, the antlers of a deer, the skin that has fish scales. It also has ox hooves and the tail of a lion. Unlike some homes in Singapore, this home does not display a PAIR of Qi Lin. In ancient China, one is "enough". Unlike a Lion statue which has two : one lion embracing a baby and the other lion with a silken ball... A Qi Lin need not be a pair! As it a dragon symbolises Male. While a phoenix (not displayed at all) represent the Female. Can you see this purple Qi Lin sitting on a pillar?

Found this sign above the payment counter of an Indian restaurant along Yio Chu Kang Road..... " In God We Trust All others pay cash"

1. Compare your illustration and the sample shown, here. 2. I have masked out the street and blocks so that no one knows where this location is. 3. This sample, is easier to understand vs a blob of rectangle as the unit or flat in which one stays in. 4. Although the illustration is not to scale, but the person took the effort to illustrate especially the row of windows at the living room area. 5. Thus for a 2D perspective, the details of layout is a plus point!
-
These are some considerations:- 1. Although you did a reasonable job in a very rough illustration; it is difficult to fully visualise fully. 2. As usually, there are more better more detailed top-view illustrations. As a crude outline of the unit especially no interior layout to figure out is not exactly the best way to say that it is this or that facing. 3. In GENERAL, it WOULD seem that the most yang qi (both in light and wind) may/could come from south 190. 4. I have mentioned many times, the purpose of finding the mouth or the facing of the house or apartment is not to suit the Feng Shui practitioner or pacify someone but rather, where is more likely the most vibrant qi would or could come into the home. 5. As for an apartment, most of us have seen or experienced the door of the unit in all sorts of positions or directions. 6. Many experienced geomancers would often spent some time to figureout often walking around the ground level of the unit to have a feel of the situation. 7. In addition, for an existing unit; if the main door is always closed; often ask the question: do you usually leave the main door opened? 8. At Marine Parade, and where some blocks are aligned North to South or vice versa; for example many HDB 5 room point blocks; a little understanding of Geography is needed ... e.g... that of high and low pressure. 9. For example, at night the sea is cool and often this is low pressure and the land may be quite warm. And thus, at night wind would come from the land towards the sea. And things like if one is often at home in the evening and have a habbit of leaving the full stretch of purchased "corridor" and main door opened, then in some cases, this could or may be the facing direction. 10. Again there is no right or wrong answer. Many geomancers would evaluate and assess the situation at the ground. "You are there... we are not". 11. In this case;unfortunately: a rough illustration... does not really tell a true picture...

1. The objective of getting accurate compass readings (besides finding the facing direction) is very important to the Compass School of Feng Shui or Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. In Singapore, we are very fortunate as the Geographic north is = to the Magnetic north. 3. As such, I had being using just these two tools all my Feng Shui life! 4. What the heck are these tools? 4.1. In the past = Any regular streetdirectory 4.2. A good protractor 5. The standard convention of all STREETDIRECTORYs are that the top of each page is usually NORTH or 360 / 0 degrees. And right at the bottom is 180 degrees. 6. Nowadays, with online (website) streetdirectorys and even google maps, we can even see an outline of the flat or apartment or visualise where is the balcony or living room. 7. For example see this attachment. Without even going down to this HDB 5 room "point block" I can even find the facing direction accurately. 8. In this attachment: 20 Bedok South Road. (S)460020. 9. Especially for landed properties; use SLA maps thru sites like rednano.sg is better as one can even see an outline of the home. And from there, using the protractor easily find the facing of the landed property. The only thing is to try to understand what should be the facing direction. 10. Therefore, so what with a high tech gadget like an Iphone compass. Simply low-tech solutions like a protractor and some "high-tech tools like google maps and even a street directory is good enough!" 11. In life, there are so many other alternatives if we try enough to use them.

1. In my quest for finding an accurate measuring system; I had discovered long time ago that surprisingly; a solid brass compass like the one I have in the picture has one of the highest accuracy! 2. Whenever, I need to do a Feng Shui in a building or a location with lots of steel / metal structure e.g. in a large area like bomb shelters, mrt stations and business in such a similar location; I would bring along this "low tech" but very accurate compass. 3. To improvise, I mounted a 360 good quality "SAINTOGRAPH" protractor below it so that I can accurately read down to 1 degree accuracy. 4. It is a blessing in disguise! 5. Not to worry, there is even a better method, slightly "high tech" in one sense but very accurate and has been with us for quite some time. One older method still applies.... 6. Go read my PART 3 on this subject matter!
-
These are some of the considerations:- 1. Majority of buildings use reinforced steel rods to strength the buidling especially at columns and almost every where. Such metal can and or will always affect compass readings. 2. Thus, the Luopan will always become very inacurate as it's "lousy" needle can get very excited when it is near to just any steel rods embedded in the building structure and even at the floor where one stands on. 3. Thus nearly all floors also have metal rods. And depending on where the concentrations are, it will certainly affect the compass reading. 4. Frankly, I am not too family with how the Iphone compass works nor how the watch compass e.g. the Casio watches with compass or even those Suunto, Timex and so many other compass . 5. Perhaps, the most recent is the use of GPS movement to track say a specific line of sight - but GPS is as good as the adjustments made to each staellites circulating around the earth. In fact, the US satellites are adjusted for density of clouds, the weather etc... by the US authorities incharge of it. Frankly I don't care two hoots about this... unless I am using the GPS in a car. 6. I have a few Suunto high end compass. And in Singapore, we are considered under Region 3. And even for compass, there is such thing as region 1, 2, equator 3, 4 and lastly 5. On high end Suunto compasses; No. 3 is stamped on it .. if you want to buy the correct one in Singapore. 7. However, even high tech ones like Suunto... will also have the same problem you mentioned. These compasses are highly sensitive to magnetic fields coming especially from building steel support rods. 8. Sometimes when we are on solid ground e.g a grass patch, but if there are some metal debris or some other metal embeded in the grass or concrete or walkway; or even a lampost close-by will also attract the needle towards them = inaccurate readings... 9. OK? You are asking me know.. why say so many negatives about the compass. Why you complain about it, here and there? 10. Look out for my PART II on this subject matter! Yang Ming T. wrote: I recently bought the Iphone 3GS and also bought the Loupon compass for testing. I have been taking compass direction at the exact same spot a few time interval and always got a different readings.... haha Is digital compass can be used for reading or still need to use the conventional compass? If i have few different reading at the same spot, what can be done. I am leaving in HDB. so taking reading in the flat and outside the common walkways..

There are already defined cure(s) ranging from : wind chime or convex mirror or "if it cannot be seen it no longer becomes a threat - via plants - but may not be practical in many instances if it cannot block the view"...

Further to what I had mentioned, you can read this article:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_drain This picture shows "A recently completed and poorly functioning French drain after a rainfall.":- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:French_drain.jpg It is because of the poor functioning of a french drain that causes the gravel covering it to go "bad".... Many things in nature can easily be approached from a Commonsense approach. And not something mystic or mysterious like some would like us to believe. Or the saying goes.. "beating around the bush"... George Bush? One more point is that in my opinion, especially in my country, such gravel "pits" are not suited to our climate. And seldom if ever we find this method of drainage. In fact, I would assume that with high moisture content, here (in Singapore) in no time such gravel pits may have a distintive "greenish algae" growth on the gravel..... Yucks!
-
1. Unfortunately, this is one of the cheapest method of drainage out of the property. 2. The common term is called a "french drain". Some of my recent clients from the US, has mentioned that their developer use this method. I believe it is to save costs as opposed to concrete screeding, then installing gratings above the drains. 3. Frankly, in my opinion, if it is properly done, there should be a problem. 4. The problem often lies withe the clogged drain. As the purpose of the loose grave is to channel water quickly into a cylindrical tube and water is quickly drained off the property. 5. The main concern is that if the entire drain or partial drain is clogged, the gravel will be damp. And often the french drain is used to correct a "cheap situation where, the foundation is lower. And if the drain is clogged; it is both damp and it can also spill water into the basement. 6. Because of this reason, damp gravel if it is damp for too long e.g. 48 or more hours is not healthy as baterial or other organisms may strive. 7. In some homes, septic tanks are close-by and if these do leak and again clogging or semi-clogging the loose gravel, it can be a health hazard. 8. Contrast this with cement screening. Cement floors are "water proof" and baterial free or easy to clean just the surface. 9. Stagnant water collecting in a gravel "or gravel pit" can become stale and the ground especially earth does contain lots of bad bacteria. 10. Therefore, it is more of commonsense than "hocus pocus" type of Feng Shui. 11. Unfortunately, this is the cheapest method in the US, today: I have seen homes that have leaks in the basement in the US. And a drain is dug outside of the home. Large plastic pipes with holes drilled into it is placed lower than the water table or the foundation of a home. And then lastly, a tractor, just pours in gravel and "flatten the land". They call it "cheap and hmmm good?"...

Please note that for accurate checking, it is always best to get a proper scaled version of the layout plan. As often a photo taken at an angle of a floor plan will often not give a proper 2D representation. Thus, although, I have marked the outline and indicated the centrepoint - see attachment;I am not totally convinced still that the toilet is not at the centrepoint although this - rough estimate shows it is not. Here the saying goes " In such situations; a picture MAY NOT TELL a true story"...

1. The saying goes "ghosts don't disturb people - in fact, some ghosts are even more scared of people, then the other way around!" 2. If one is so concerned with the "three killings". How about : the Grand Duke - Tai Sui; or the dreaded Five Yellow #5? 3. If one does not do renovations, as an example, what have we to do with the "three killings". 4. For the Tai Sui; so long as we don't "touch" e.g. carry out painting or drilling works... no fear... 5. Every year, such "things" change. So, just wonder.. do you have a revolving office? No rite? 6. Live goes on with or without such fears!

1. External Feng Shui: Flying star e.g. using the pie chart method can extend from the building to it's external surroundings. 2. The basis of Flying Star Feng Shui is to try to find the most yang qi "facing" or facade and from this; plot out a flying star chart in relation to this flow of qi. 3. Even in many buildings, be it a full company or several business; even within a company; often the interior layout may be different. 4. Take a case of this MNC I am dealing with. They occupy two floors: and are going to start renovations on each floor. For example:they occupy : Levels 10 and 11. 5. Level 10 has a recreation area, accounting and finance, legal and IT and IT computer rooms. While Level 11 has Sales and Marketing; Advertising, conference rooms and meeting rooms. 6. Thus, in this example, the different layouts and even sub-units can have different qi flow because of the way furniture, rooms, meeting rooms, open or closed areas have an effect on the Feng Shui. 7. Like human beings, many buildings have different businesses and layout plans. And thus "It depends".
