  1. 1. I believe that what you are inquiring about is quite "academic". 2. To be honest, there will be an endless debate regarding the merits of one method over another. 3. In my view, having numerous clients; some of whom have sought earlier consultations with different practitioners and second opinions; I have come across various charts. 4. From my understanding, among the practitioners in Singapore; many utilize the Pie chart method, myself included. 5. Why? 5.1. The Pie chart is particularly well-suited for landed properties, as many of these structures tend to be elongated and rectangular in shape. 5.2. At a glance, the practitioner can identify the true cardinal points (the precise layout of the entire North-South East-West NE-SW, NW-SE true compass directions). This is often examined in relation to the entry of external qi into the home. 5.3. Another significant advantage of the Pie chart is that since Flying Star is based on horizontal analysis; a pie chart can be extended indefinitely, for instance, to assess the building and site for optimal water location, mountains, etc. In contrast, a 9 square grid is more concentrated on the interior of the home. 5.4. The 9 Square grid is effective for a "purely" rectangular interior with divisions or rooms that conform to this 9 square grid. For instance, the layout plan you provided may be considered "rectangular"; however, the rooms or bedrooms do not align proportionately with the 9 grid. This leads to your confusion, as one square grid may encompass two bedrooms. 6. Many professional authors of Chinese (Mandarin Feng Shui) books (in my opinion) tend to favor the pie chart. Conversely, many English Feng Shui publications utilize the 9 grid system, particularly in their illustrations. 7. As I previously noted, regarding these two methods; there are individuals who may strongly advocate for one method or the other; while more pragmatic individuals would assert, "It depends." Ultimately, there is no definitive right or wrong. However, my personal preference leans towards the Pie chart method, as it is considerably easier to utilize when drafting a client's proposed recommendations.
  2. 1. Charcoal stove = traditional "portable" stove. 2. Portable gas stove = modern, non-traditional. 3. Para 1; considered NICE-to-Do. Not a MUST-Do. 4. Frankly, in my opinion, if you are considering Para2; above; you may be the very first in Singapore, JB, Batam and even in the Far East. And maybe, one day, this becomes a new tradition. 5. In my opinion, if one does not do Para 1; no need to go so far as to search for another more modern portable gas stove. 6. In fact, for the last 20 years or so; there are so many variants of the "lighted" stove:- 6.1. The most common method is buy one at the common neighbourhood store and add charcoal wrapped in red paper and bring it in "cold" to the home. 6.2. Many young couples skip this part 6.3. Some use "barbecue" utensils and heat up the charcoal and then bring this entity into the kitchen stove and continue to let it burn. 7. Frankly, there is NO FIXED RULESET as to what is right or wrong, here. 8. If it sounds functional; and makes you and your family feel good about it; then do it. 9. Additional note:- 9.1. For those staying in some private homes or certain condos that have smoke detectors built-in at the kitchen or lift lobb(ies)... beware! 9.2. Either you go for the smoke-free barbecue charcoal type of material or don't do it.
  3. Ang A. wrote: I have a end-lot terrace and my house main door face SE direction . I would like to have a koi pond to my new place but read on your forum about SW is not good due to 'white- tiger'. My other alternative are SE , just in front of front door or West - which is near the back of house. 1. Appreciate, please try not to mis-quote my past forum message(s). 2. The actual message is as follows:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=1&mid=26464&new= Seeking Advice On A New Home Purchase Posted in: Discuss :: Free Advice (General Feng Shui) Posted on: Fri, 06 Nov 2009, 18:22 PM, 1. Purely from a Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, it is considered inauspicious. 2. This concept is based on the "East Dragon" and especially more towards: the "White Tiger" concept. 3. Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, it is not good to have an "open" mouth somewhat circular or looks like a hungry tiger's mouth. And since this home is facing SW, the water retention pond is considered as at the West side of the home - ie. the "white tiger's domain. 4. Just imagine, a tiger's mouth is always open "hungry" ... 5. Thus in general, even if the home is considered facing a favourable direction under Period 8 : SW, the prime concern here is the external Shapes and Forms Feng Shui - prevails. SW water position is "effective" only up to 2021 to not more than 2023 in such instances. 6. When placing a pond or a water position; it is always more importantly to get the facts correctly. Even for a SE facing home; under the Flying Star Feng Shui; it makes a difference between say a SE1 and/or SE2/SE3 facing home. 7. In general, usually SW sector Can/ May / Could /be suitable for a water position but often Para 6 is taken into consideration, also.
  4. 1. Those extension - most likely aluminium awnings to provide shade does not seem "threating" at all. Frankly these are not support beams at all. 2. Use the Best study direction report to check your facing direction. This is considered a "huge" work or study space. It is not like "X" marks the spot or spots.
  5. Appended on 4 December 2019: Suggest, please go directly for an in-dept understanding of the Frontage of a house. Is it always the main door? Please refer to the attached resource: http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=26954&new= For practical reasons, the smallest Asian sized door width is 35 inches. For European or American standard - should be 42 inches or 48 3/4 inches roughly within such a range. Commonsense approach is that if the width is larger; the larger clearance the door has to "swing" inwards. And imagine if the door size is 58 inches (one or two leaves) and if the door swings inwards; the foyer of the home has to be pretty wide to cater for this width. Furthermore, if the home is to be lived in and ifdoes have a family: again just imagine a little cute boy or girl 4 to 5 years old struggling to open or close the door not withstanding any high winds nor the weight of the door. Doors that are at least 1/2 hour fire rated doors ain't lightweight - for sure!
  6. 1. In Singapore, this fact is not widely recognized or publicized. 2. When I first began practicing Feng Shui many years ago, I was fascinated by the auspicious measurements of the main entrance doors in the First Generation HDB flats. 3. Disregarding the grille gate of this particular home, the width of the entrance is considered auspicious according to the Feng Shui Ruler. Even when taking into account the support frames on both sides of the main door, it remains auspicious. 4. The origins of this phenomenon are unknown. It is possible that it occurred unintentionally. It is likely that a Chinese furniture maker or manufacturer was assigned to design an entrance door and decided to base it on the measurements of the imperial Feng Shui ruler. 5. In the 2nd generation of HDB flats, there are single leaf doors that measure 35 inches, as well as larger doors with two leaves: one leaf is 42 inches and the other is smaller. The 42-inch measurement is still considered auspicious according to the Feng Shui ruler. 6. The height of the door is influenced by the type of floor tiles used, resulting in varying heights. Some homes in the past could only afford cement screed for the entire home, while others opted for thicker terrazzo tiles, mosaic, and even ceramic tiles. 7. The height, in terms of the Feng Shui ruler, is of lesser importance as the width is often the focal point for Qi. 8. Therefore, many homes with partitions often opt for either 42 inches or a maximum of 49 3/4 inches. Some partitions may have a smaller width of 35 inches. 9. In newer generation flats, particularly those built after the 1980s, a partition size of 42 inches will cover the main door, as the smaller leaf door is rarely opened. 10. The size of the main door should be determined based on the Feng Shui ruler (or the imperial carpentry ruler). 9.1. For a small apartment, such as the 1st generation HDB flats, a single leaf door should be 35 inches in total width. 9.2. Other widths to consider are 42 inches and 49 3/4 inches. The older generation - a single leaf door
  7. 1. Singaporeans really pray to all sorts of GODs. 2. While walking past a row of shop houses; this shop owner evidently prays to a pair of "striped tigers". 3. In the first picture; he has a pair of Qi Lin on each side of the front pillar. And in the middle; a worship altar on the floor. Notice the two different pairs of striped lions.... each with it's mouth full ... symbolic of bringing in wealth. 4. A percentage of mediums somehow; enact or even become "tiger god" in some instances. Usually, these people hope to get great wealth.
  8. 1. If you want to look youthful; in my opinion, never become a politician! 2. Just observe many hardworking Cabinet Minisiters and one realise; how fast they age! 3. Could this be one of the reasons, why so many smart persons don't bother to become politicians?
  9. 1. Some bright or primary colors if used at the wrong location may affect certain situations:- For example under the Flying star concept: Bright Yellow & or Bright Red@ location(s) especially those with #5 and/or #2 and/or #9 etc... can affect health - ranging from constant health issues to some needing operations. Bright Green and or Bright Blue @ location(s) with #3 and/or combined with WS#1 can affect relationships / marriage / family issues / lawsuits. While using Bright Blue in the kitchen can affect a woman's health and family wealth and if it also falls at Mountain Star MS#8 - will drown such luck. 2. Above are just some of the examples, I can quickly think of. 3. The most critical areas for 2010 are: Five Yellow at South-West Grand Duke at East-North-East, 60 Degrees And the Three Killings at North. 4. If you can do painting at South before Feb 14th, that is best, but if you can't at least; although it is #3 sector; the consolation is that it is not at the above three MAJOR concern areas.
  10. In this story:- 1. Three boys: named ONE, TWO & THREE. 2. A unhappy mum in a dark home. 3. A new boyfriend who is RICH! 4. She yearns for GREENER pasture.....

Please re-read my earlier posting: Posted on: Tue, 19 Jan 2010, 22:00 PM, "5. If your opposite neighbour's home is a mirror image of yours, with the same roof structure, etc... in my opinion, there is such thing as "squaring off" or neutralising each other." 2) Do you have any cure for the carbon footprint? 16. 1. Please note that Period 8 ranges from 2004 to 2023. During the past few months, I being posting this link very often:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/yearly-forecast/fortunes-2010.htm 2. Go check it out. 3. Must everything have a cure? In fact, in many instances, the commonsense cure is not to do it. We plan to put up a small business in front of the house, which is better, locate it in the Northeast or Northwest part. I'm East group, Kua4. The house was built in Period 8. 4. Please note that this is a free GENERAL advice forum.
  17. These are some considerations: 1. If a sector also has good qi especially those coming in thru a window, good to open such windows to allow qi to flow into the home and when doing so, it does help the centrepoint. 2. Usually after heavy down-pour; good to regularly air the entire home e.g. open all "openings" if possible for a short-while - for qi to refresh into the home. 3. Some homes at the centrepoint has clear space, this is good for #8 at the centrepoint. But this is meant more for a home with 20 year flying star and when one wants to built the home from scratch. 4. If a sector has good star(s); and if one can spent time or activity at that sector; that is good. 5. Unfortunately, we have to accept that not all homes does have what I described under Para 3 and/or 4.
  18. 1. Effective Feng Shui is a holistic approach. Ruchir P. wrote: Hi , I have bedroom located in south west direction of house. The bedroom also has attached bathroom with toilet in south west direction of room. Is that good? 2. In two sentences, I really can't possible tell. As no Shapes and Forms nor Compass School of Feng Shui is used, here. 3. Holistic Feng Shui is about: 3.1. Enhancing good qi in a home and 3.2. Reducing or neutrasing bad qi in a home. 4. Your question is too general. 5. If youwant to find out whether Year of tiger 2010 is good or not, appreciate, if you can review this link:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/yearly-forecast/fortunes-2010.htm

  20. 1. If you so interested in getting "perfect measurements" the easiest is to go purchase a Feng Shui ruler. Find out more about the measurements:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-ruler.htm 2. Again, unfortunately, you make Feng Shui reallysounds so complicated: what with entire facade 15 meters etc... 3. Frankly, again, you are the one and only person; throughout the existence of this forum as far back as the 1996's that posts such ... 4. If you really are so into measurements, I sincerely advice you to go learn VASTU, the Indian art of "Feng Shui". 5. As in fact, last decade or so, there are some in India, which strictly build homes that strictly must fit precise measurements: room by room kind of situation. 6. Hey! Feng Shui or Chinese Art of Feng Shui is more practical. Only certain measurements, try nice to have. And even in the forbidden cities, the concept of 9 or 999 are very important. But to make sure that when we "Feng Shui" build a home, everything must fit Feng Shui measurements - is not practical. 7. Frankly, those who are too obsessed with Feng Shui and in Singapore, we thought that some are kiasu, but you are the ultimate "kaisee" fella. When I took the measurement of the facade from the ends of the perimeter wall and measurement of the steel door: 1) the entire facade is - 15meters 2) the driveway door - 4meters 3) smaller door for person's entrance - 1.5meter Is this size proportion to the facade?
  21. Facing direction of a home does not necessarily mean that you need e.g. the main, front, door. You mentioned: "Our main door is a sliding glass door facing east. " Usually this should be the frontage or facing direction of your "home" especially if there is "clear space" at the front for qi to congregate. Again, it depends on any blockages e.g. sides are "neighbourhood buildings" etc... If the home is facing e.g. a lake vs the frontage is facing the roadway.. sometimes, the view of the lake could be the frontage. Need judgemental skills.
  22. Yes, this is on a Free General Advice forum. Such detalied information, has to be analysed or looked at with reference to one's DD/MM/YY & HH.
  23. Please refer to the following resources Part I - Facing Direction Of A Home http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=15672&new= Part II - Facing Direction Of A Home http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=15673&new= Again, this is the first time in my whole life where I encounter : steel doors, entrance, driveway door, smaller door and so many wordings on doors. Frankly, Feng Shui is not so complicated, but a newbie reading this will think that Feng Shui belongs to rocket-science. Susan J. wrote: Dear Master, Our steel doors (one smaller for person's entrance and driveway door for car's entrance) are in line with the perimeter wall; and also parallel to the door entrance to the living room. Which one is considered the main door of the house? 1) Is it the smaller door on the same line of the perimeter wall 2) or the door in the driveway on the same line of the perimeter wall 3) or the internal door attached to the structure of the house? What if the external door is facing North? the main entrance to the living room is facing East? Which direction should be used in determining the facing of the house?
  24. Frankly, even for Catholics, why is there so much concern of taboos especially for dismantling and post mantling? For regilious matters, since you are Catholic, you easily just approach your church elders (fathers or sisters) if you are still so concern about such things.
