1. Many Feng Shui practitioners love to claim that they have secret tips. 2. If one breaks down such "ideas". They are simply commonsense. Or often, it is the commonsense approach to Feng Shui. 3. For example, #2 "fell in love with #6" from another sector. 4. Commonsense approach to Feng Shui is: How does these two "meet?" Speed dating? 5. Commonsense tells us that just imagine: #6 = an airconditioner. Do you know that an airconditioner can be considered as "moving metal?" Even a fan can be considered as "moving metal". 6. Turning on an air-con, and in today's wonderful world of some aircons blessed with ion clusters, hepa cleaners.. is even more "godly" then anything else. 7. Thus, no need to use such a "very mysterious and wow, impressive" high level language! Just turn on your fan or air-con and here, #6 will or can meet #2! Ha hahaha! 8. In fact, most healthy people, live on higher grounds and "open air" concept. In the past, the traditional Chinese home has an open middle court yard? Why to allow proper air-circulation! No need what star #6 to fall in love with #2! 9. Many homes, often are caught unawares when there is high pressure air forcing it's way into a home during or soon to be heavy rain. In fact, some people instintively oopen all their windows and doors reguarly to allow fresh air to circulate a home. This is good way to "flush" and "cleanse" the home.

It is interesting that 8 to 10 years ago, whenever someone wants to find out Chinese "mystic" practises, will most of the time search the internet for "astrology" or "Chinese zodiac" signs. It was rare at that time for a search of : Feng Shui or the dialect term of "Fung sway" etc... Nowadays, many can seem to correctly search for "Feng Shui". This is good because: Chinese astrology in my opinion may lead to "auto suggestion" and even "self-fullfilling prophecy!". In the past, I cannot really see the correlation between a geomancer siting on the road side, "dictating" some one else's future. If the geomancer can "predict" someone else future, why can't he predict his own?

1. Usually, there are two major instances where a home may not be "lived" in by human beings:- 1.1 Shapes and Form Feng Shui In this example, a house is "entrapped" and death may follow anyone living in this entrapped house:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=19&mid=11582&new= 1.2 Flying Star Feng Shui Some homes may have bad Shapes and Forms and in certain instances, combined with bad yin stars. For example, some bad yin stars may result in "death" in such a home thru suicide ..... 2. What you had mentioned, has often to fit with Para 1 and or Para 2. Thus, it NEED not necessarily be a specific animal sign e.g. Rat living in a South house (Horse element). 3. What you had mentioned often belongs to the category called "Kindergarden Feng Shui". And often, if it does occur it is often by coincidence. 4. Kindergarden Feng Shui is like saying that North = Water, South = Fire, East = Wood etc... And does not consider more complex interactions such as Flying Star Feng Shui or a person's ba zi. 5. In Singapore, even as recent as 1970's to 1980's, there were the "less educated" Geomancers! Such persons, because of their lower education, and many of these are "fly by night" practitioners who, place a table at a road side (five foot way) and begin to do Astrology Forecast. This is at the time when, IBM PC, Apple computer was around the corner and there was no internet. 6. In the 1990's, when the internet arrived, there were tons of "Black Hat Sect" or they were called Tibetian Black Hat Sect - sounds mysterious and enticing. Came online to flood the internet with the modern invention of "Fixed template" Feng Shui. 7. Nowadays, with better informed persons, more books, more online materials, it is more important that one should all the morenot be "conned" into applyingKindergarden Feng Shui. "

1. Frankly, majority of the time, or intuitively, once we see a room, often, we have in our mindsa suitable seating arrangement. 2. As your message is vague, it is best that one should feel "comfortable" sitting in a direction viewing tv (based on para 1.). 3. Thus, I really won't know for sure, given that there is no layout sketch. Even if there is a layout sketch, if Feng Shui is applied, considerations like the shapes and forms, eight house and flying star Feng Shui is considered. 4. Honestly, a Feng Shui practitioner will often consider the environment. If the environment is a bedroom, a "sane" FS practitioner would never recommend a wind chime in a bedroom! 5. Is it a coincidence but, just recently, several messages seems to suggest that Feng Shui is an "exact science!" 6. In my most recent reply to another message, Feng Shui is not like a doctor learning about the human anatomy. 7. Thus, it is "irresponsible" to ask a question like " how high (wind chime should they be?" If my answer, is: " To be effective it has to be hung 350 metres high". Can you do that? 8. The other question is "where should they go". Again, if one is applying Feng Shui, then a full Feng Shui audit may be required to be done. 9. I sincerely hope that when users post question, please understand that from a Feng Shui point of view, a proper analysis has to be done. 10. Such questions shows that nowadays, not only many people are trying to practice "Fast Food Feng Shui" but rather, worse off - " You are practising COMMANDO style Feng Shui". This is really bad. 11. As I mentioned early, if you love the sound of wind chimes by all means, place it. BUT if you are wanting to use such objects or material things in the name sake of Feng Shui, often, like a bomerang, it will catch up with you and bite you!

1. Please note that there is no cure under the Eight House or Eight Mansions concept:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/The_Three-Step-Approach For example, for the Eight house, it is best to spent time at good sector or face a good sector (FULL STOP). 2.1 If you cannot do the above, there is no further cure for it. Eight House concept is usually YES or NO type of senario. and there is no such thing as cure for it! 2.2. Thus is your house direction facing a good direction? YES? NO? 2.3. Is your bedroom in a good sector? YES? NO? 3. Seriously what can be done for the above? Yes or No? If NO, then, if one still wants to apply Feng Shui, then jolly well, look at this concept:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/The_Concept_of_Maximizing_Marks 4. If the above does not sound reasonable, then please see whether you think it is reasonable or feasible to move - house! (Full stop!)

You can use our free ba zi analysis to find your compatible colours:- http://www.geomancy.net/reports/free-report/freerpt-element.htm

1. Yes, since you are not a Cantonese a simple knockin say at the east or west wall will do. 2. Other points you had mentioned sounds reasonable or OK.

Frankly, this is the first time I heard of "weird things" like using wood chips in Feng Shui! If in doubt, always contact the owner who gave you this information. In my opinion, to most of us, it can mean anything under the sky.

1. "There is a limit to all Feng Shui theories". http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/The_Three-Step-Approach 2. It is good to understand the beneifits and limitations of each concept. Since you are at the Eight House (Eight Mansions / Ba Cai) Feng Shui then if one does not spent time at that location or nice to have facing a direction nothing much can be done using this concept. 3. Then if one wants to apply Feng Shui, then one has to try to find other ways (means) of improving luck by considering other concepts, theories, such as any other "wealth leak to fix" or any areas to enhance. Thus logically, seek out:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/The_Concept_of_Maximizing_Marks

1. Frankly, after reading several of your messages, hope I don't mind saying that you are really "impatient" to apply Fast Food Feng Shui! 2. Isn't it better to know all the facts rather than do DIY Feng Shui. Or leading the blind to guide you! Quote: Ellen E. wrote: Thinking ofcontructing a 4 ft x 2 ft pond for water lily, lotusand other water plants at the left side of my gate. Can I build the pond outside my fancing? 3. For example, you make the above statement. And expect me with all the "blind" unknown variable and adivse you whether it is good or not to built a pond outside your fencing? This is not right! I might as well use a dice and throw it and then give you an answer! 4. As for a ba gua facing one's entrance, please note that IN GENERAL also there are various types of ba gua. For example, some hang as a protection of their home, while some use it to suck wealth. Again... if one is impatient to know the answer, please do some research, first! For example, under the topic photo tours of interest, I have shown majority of the various ba gua mirrors. And what are their purpose...... If you still cannot find the article:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Types_of_Ba_Gua_Mirror 5. If you are not sure what is Fast Food Feng Shui, then:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Fast_Food_Feng_Shui will show the end result of one practing Fast Food Feng Shui. Please don't end up at such a state, please!

Sorry, I am afraid that it is indeed a "silly" question. First time I have heard planting alarge tree to represent a mountain! Oh Boy! 1. Many trees have a tree trunk. And as the tree grow older, the trunk may be thick and hopefully it does not become a "poison arrow" slicing towards the main entrance door or even a window such as the window of the living room. This may inadvertenly create sha qi (poison arrow). 2. Under the Five Elements concept:- Imagine a large tree, it has roots that dig into earth to weaken earth. Thus if this sector say has an auspicious mountain star e.g. earth #8. Then imagine the roots of the plants will go and dig into the earth! Ideally, it should instead be a rock garden to form a solid mountain. Frankly there are a few more disadvantages with having a tree! For example, one of them is that in Singapore, especially during the 1960's to 1980's the trend (was) that many homes plant a mango tree. And after 5 to 10 years old, the tree has lots of leaves and below the area, it is so yin (dark)! And this makes the garden area dark and gloomy!

1. In my opinion, when you mention "south on the bagua", I may rightly or wrongly come to the conclusion that you are getting a template and placing it over the layout plan. 2. If you are considering the "modern commercial invention" of fixed template Feng Shui, where this "joker" prepares a template with markings like: North (career) ....... then, this practise is NON Traditional Feng Shui. 3. As I have mentioned, TRADITIONAL Feng Shui is about taking the correct directions and superimposing say a Flying star chart. If you are applying Flying Star Feng Shui, then South is south, north is north based on the magnetic compass. If not sure, re-read, and re-read again. Alternatively, some of my resources in geomancy.net website shows how to find the centrepoint and try to allocate the Eight House chart on a home layout plan. 4. Seriously, you cannot be reading between the lines and since you are doing DIY, just because there was some mention of 6 coins, then you quickly want to implement it. 5. Do take note that the Eight House and Flying star belongs to the Compass School Feng Shui. Many do start their charts with the Eight House chart first. I can understand everyone wants to jump in, but as they say Rome is not built in a day! So does your Feng Shui knowlege cannot be in bits and pieces! 6. If you have gone thru some of the resources on Eight House, the Flying star chart is usually mapped on top of it. 7. Unfortunately, it is not right to practise Fast food Feng Shui!

1. Yes usually even if one is not using joss sticks, prior to knocking three times, one may consider saying this phrase in mandarin or one's dialect: " To all the gods, apologies, I am starting renovations in (on) ______ such a such a date (can be next week, next month etc..) 2. This year try not to knock three times at the North (Grand Duke location) and South (three killings location). Otherwise, can either knock on the gloor or on the wall three times. Quote: Jo H. wrote: Hi,I just got my house keys and opened the door for the first time. Intending to start renovation within the next 1 - 2 weeks. Used your online auspicious date search and found that this Wednesday is a good day and the next good day will be more than 2 wks later. Can I go to my place and symbolically knock 3 times on the wall or floor to mark the start of renovation, even though after knocking, actual renovation work will not start until 1 - 2 wks later? Knocking 3 times and praying at 4 corners (no joss sticks, just simple praying) is sufficient as dong tu procedures? Any preference on where to knock (eg mid of living room floor) or where not to knock (which direction offend Grand Duke, etc)? 3. Knocking at all four corner (and not forgetting the center of the living room or living cum dining) is more of a Cantonese dialect group thing. As the Cantonese believe that each home has 5 spirits or god. Spirt of the North, South, East, West and Centre. Thus, if one uses the 1st time open procedure that I had drawn out, this caters to the Cantonese idea of setting out 5 types of fruits each for each of these gods. 4. Preferably, if one gets a monk to come in, usually it is after the completion of the renovation. Some do get a monk to bless the home BEFORE they start renovations (or immediately when they get their keys and get the monk to come in to bless the home. Frankly, there is no Hard or fast rule, here. The situation is fluid. 5. Preferably the home should be completed before one do the an chuang procedure. You may do the an chuang procedure. And later on when you want to move in then do the move-in procedure. No longer need to knock three times again. 6. The main consideration during the move-in is that the master bed should be set-in and one should sleep overnight in the home. And the stove should be "ready" or installed in the kitchen. 7. Again, all these procedures should more importantly meet one's needs i.e. should try to fit our present situation and not become a slave of our domain. The idea is that everything done should be smooth and in addition, it should not create any stress or despair if we are not able to follow pont-by-point. More importantly it should bring us memorable feelings.

1. Please note that generally "Feng Shui" cures are or should be considered as "preventive cures". It is not meant to be used for "existing situations" such as say constant backache etc.. 2. Whenever in doubt, always seek professional help! 3. The ideal choice is the luxury of selecting a home where in general, majority of the bad stars are not clusted at the "mouth" of the house (frontage) and anywhere that we frequently spent time at. Of course this is a luxury most cannot "afford" or too late since we have lived in the home. 4. Nowadays, if we want "clean" air, it is best to depend on Hepa cleaners (such as reputable brands like Honeywell air cleanrs or Japanese Sharp brand ioniers that can blast negative ions or negative / positive ions. Contrast this to the traditional method of using or filling a glass jar filled with 6 coins, salt water. 5. Traditional "health" preventive scheme(s) based on Feng Shui include the placement of a hulu e.g. next to the bedside table etc... There are other acceptable cures include a moving clock etc... 6. A little knowlege is a dangerous thing! Just because you have "just" heard of the 6 coins tied with red string.. you want to use it......Using Feng Shui blindly such as this, without full knowledge of type of "cures" is say the least dangerous! 7. Although the colour of your bedroom scheme looks acceptable, it is like the blind leading the blind, here....

Further to what I had mentioned:- 1. In my opinion, usually or most of the time if one's action is "mechanical", please forget about "implementing IT". 2. For example, this is a clear cut case of:- "I was told that SW is a good location of a water feature. I want you to tell me what size, what height and what colour". 3. In such a situation, I would say forget it! No point putting the water feature, please! 4. Contrast this with someone... intutively saw a nice lovely water feature! " I would like to have it in my .... living room!" 5. Somehow, very often, human interaction such as I simply love it, want to own it, install and enjoy it! Would often be a good synergy between the environment (Feng Shui earth luck) and human luck (nice feeling) 6. Just imagine, when we fall in-love with an object or even person, are you crazy or "spastic" to bring a measuring tape and measure your love one? His/her height, "thickness" and weight? And what colour are you? 7. Thus, if one is going to ask another what size, what height, what colour... please, don't bother to buy it! It will highly likely not work at all. 8. Hope you see my point. The morale of the story, "Don't Ape or buy something just for the sake of..." It is rubbish!
-
1. In my opinion, you begin to sound like a doctor. Or may unwittingly act like one! 2. In the past, some doctors who are "in-to" Feng Shui, has the assumption that like the human body, for example, when they look at books like Grey's Anatomy, the heart, veins are described exactly to the point. 3. Feng Shui is both an art and a science. Thus, It is not an exact science! 4. If you want to install a water feature, go ahead. There is always the Feng Shui ruler, and its good measurements. 5. Frankly, who simply posts questions like: what exact size it must be, what colour, how high... may often not be as successful as someone else who use their common sense or feelings. 6. Don't place a water feature for the sake of Feng Shui, often, it is not as "potent" as if one loves a water feature so much that one really loves to have it.
-
1. Under the Five element concept, no matter how, #3 is still a wood element. And in some instances, it can help to exhaust say bad earth e.g. #2 or #5. Much like a tree (wood) has roots that can "dig" into the earth to get nourishment thus exhausting bad #2 or #5! 2. In addition, there is the 81 combinations of Mountain star with Water star. And some of these 81 combinations can yield favourable results! 3. Thus, it is too immature or fool hardy to think only of #3 as a rotten star! 4. In addition, when Period 3 comes, #3 will be the jewel in the crown of Period 3! And under Period 2, #3 will be come the future prosperity star! Thus in general, in isolation, it is not so-good star!

Imagine, if this is true:- 1. All Geomancers will be "shaking their legs" while waiting for the beginning of lunar new year! 2. In fact, some people were told to have their premises reviewed "Yearly"! This will be sweet news to the ears of every Geomancer! 2.1 Thus imagine, if a geomancer has 500 new clients every year! And if 50 percent of the 500 new clients asked for their home to be reviewed yearly or even ever 3 years! If we accumulate this 500 to every year of geomancer's service, he will be rich beyond the wildest dream! 3. Thus have anyone heard that a Geomancer only works in the beginning of the year and like bears hibernate the rest of the period? Yes / No? 4. Primarily, a geomancer can conduct Feng Shui sessions all year round! 5. Many of the key concepts don't need to wait until beginning of the year. For example:- Five elements concept, Eight house, Ba zi. All these are key concepts applied to Feng Shui of a home. And are fixed concepts. Even if the geomancer discuss this info, it does not matter if it is the beginning of the year, or the end of time! Flying Star Feng Shui. Although there is some truth in what you had mentioned but the main Flying Star Feng Shui LASTS 20 years. And the only variable is the Yearly, Monthly Flying Star numbers that change during this time. A good practitioenr would discuss the overall Feng Shui of a home for say 2004 to 2023! If this is the year 2002 (today), then, there is truth to say that in 2004, the Feng Shui qi has changed. Thus, if one is getting Feng Shui audit done during 2004 to 2023, it would usually be looked at properly by a competent geomancer. Unless today is the year 2020. And the geomancer may recommend one to do Feng Shui audit again in 2023 due to a change of qi.

In my opinion, this is very minor or non-issue. Perhaps, some people may have the following "concerns":- 1. Symbolism Kitchen is where there are knifes, sharp objects and fire element. And maybe your friend feels uncomfortable with placing the family photos, because of these reasons. 2. Perhaps some feel that say using a magnet is not "permanent" and thus may affect "permanent" relationships. 3. Otherwise, if you check out this forum, this question has never surfaced in the last more than 10 or more years of this forum! 4. It is akin to some ridiculous people who say that one should not place shoes or shoe cabinet outside the main entrance area! In my country, rich or poor usually "park" their shoes outside their main door. This range from Bungalow, semi-detached, terrace homes to condominium units to public housing! In fact many successful medium to small enterprises have an area at the frontage of their office - to allow visitors and staff to take off their shoes and wear slippers into their office! So what is the big deal! In life, there are more important issues than this "chicken feet" concern! Might as well, if one is so scared, don't place any photos in the home.

Yes, why not?

1. Any element if it becomes or constantly is strong is no good. For example #6 represents metal. Thus, as I had mentioned earlier, a set of six coins e.g. where each coin has a square hole (earth) which supports metal (strengthening it or controlling) it. Thus it is still good to have red string (with or without the tassle to tame or control it). 2. However, on it's own #6 is considered as past, past prosperity star. So exactly or directly not a useful star. Unlike #7 which is also a metal element. But it is a weak metal. And only under Period 7, it is a good "kind" star. During any other Periods, many know it as "Thief or robbery star." 3. #6 in any period is generally acceptable. But the main concern is that it is a strong #6 metal element. Thus, in real life, one has to see the 81 combinations of MS # with WS #. Thus, I have not directly checked what is the influence of MS#6 with WS#1 as these two will have a combination : maybe good or bad. 4. In general, too much metal may be detrimental to #1 water star (on it's own). But again if the sector has other bad stars such as #2 or #5, then, part of this metal may be used to control #2. Thus this big metal's resources may be used to support #1 and dissipate #2 bringing metal into balance. 5. The key here is that under the Five elements concept: Anything that is too strong, should be made to "cool down" or dissipate to "neutral" position. Alternatively, if the element is weak (and a good element) it should be boosted up to a neutral position.
-
1. For the Chinese "ancient" coins:- Under the five elements concept: one notice that it has a square hole in the middle. The square hole represents earth. Thus, Earth (square hole) supports Metal (copper coin). And the red string (or some red) is suppose to "bind" or "control" the entire coin. 2. Hulu tied with red string:- In my opinion, no precedence other than RED being considered as an auspicious colour (color) for the Chinese. And many decorate it with RED. Not only the hulu but many trinkets or decorative items also often tied with red string. For example, the Chinese Palace Lanterns. Each of it's legs are decorated with red strings (tassles). No specific reason, but symbolic RED to the Chinese represents auspiciousness. You don't see such decorative objects strung with "white" strings. As white symbolises "death" to the Chinese. (To the west, of course white represents purity). 3. Modern Chinese do wear white wedding dress following western tradition. But often, during the night dinner celebration, they often change into a "Chinese" type of night garment. And many choose RED or PINK or even (royal purple - especially Thailand).

1. In my opinion, your home should still be considered as a Period 7 home. (Unfortunately, it is not so simple to Fly to Period 8 as many have imagined). 2. Based on your description, in my opinion, it should usually be South facing. If you have stayed in this home for several years, no harm in drawing a Flying Star chart for both South and NW - and check to see if which is more accurate. (When checking the critical stars are #5, #2 and #3 negative stars which often leave some "clues" behind). 3. It is still a better choice to activate a water position (especially) if it could be done at the double #8 (current prosperity) sector. To "prevent" roving eyes, you can check out the article, below:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Roving_Eyes_or_Infidelity which is will bring one directly to this link:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=1&mid=22492 4. Alternatively, if the South-West sector is a living room or balcony area, then the fish tank (MAY be located, here) to tap the indirect water wealth luck under Period 8. A large fish tank such as an arrowana fish - tank would be ideal if this is a "clear space" living room / dining room area and not a bedroom! Quote: I havefews questions which really bother me for quite some times as I really get a bit confuse in activating the DOUBLE 8 STAR which in the NORTH. I hope you can help me in my problem. Thanks a million in advance, I appreciated. Awaiting for your kind reply asap. Thanks again. Qestion 1. I brought a flat which built in year of 1994 and I had it renovated in 2005 febuary. From book,it mentioned about changing the period of house from 7 to 8, celling tiles, floor tiles & main door must be changed, but sadlly, I only got my floor tiles changed, my celling wasonly being touch-up with some of the white plaster & my main door was be modified in length by the contractor as due to changing of my floor tiles. The question I would like to ask is my house now still remain as Period 7 or Period 8 house?? Question 2. I am staying in a 3rd storey HDB flat in Singapore, My main door have the facing direction of ORTHWEST and when I open my main door is a wall of the liftof my flat not directly facing instead my main window in my living room located in SOUTH had a better and brighter view and seem to be more YANG. My question is where should my house facing direction?? NORTHWEST or SOUTH ?? Question 3. DOUBLE 8 STARS is located @ NORTH of my house which is RIGHT hand of my Main Door ( Facing Out )Most of the fengshui expertmentioned, it is not advisable to place any water feature there as will invited roving eye into Relationship. What should I do to this?? Any better place for me to place the water feature?? FYI, I have a2 Tiers4 fts x 2 fts water fish tankinSOUTHEAST of my house which I am keeing my AROWANA fish inside.

Generally, the logo is OK. Except for the following advice:- It would be good if the big star does not have a "pointed arrow" aimed at the letter N. The pointed star should (if possible) be raised slightly higher. Otherwise, it looks OK to me.
