1. Given the limited space in the living room, the best options are :- Ranking 1 (Best location): Either B or E Here, marking or location B is considered as the altar "sitting on a mountain; facing water (looking out of the window". For marking E, it is like having a "security post" just immediately "outside" all our bedroom (door) area Marking or location E can still be moved slightly further towards the "toilet area". But, you are correct not to place it or sharing the same wall as the toilet(s). Good choice. 2. Marking "C". If one have a "top-down" view, one can see the entire partition slicing the living room in half. It is like a knife cutting the living room (exactly in half). Considered inauspicious under this layout plan. For other layout plans, where it does not slice the living room or dining table, then it can still be considered. This marking "C" arrangement is very commonly found in Malaysian Chinese homes and quite alot of local Singapore (typical or known as "ah beng") Chinese homes. I believe, this is where, many Chinese get the idea from a temple. Where usually at a temple, we walk into the temple, and the gods are central, and facing the entrance door. However, there are many more Chinese who feel that for a home, if we do face the altar looking at the door, we are like employing security guards (in the form of a god or gods) to look after our house or condo unit. Thus, if we use this argument, then, it would seem "bad manners" to do so. 3. Markings A and D are last resort, as for practical reasons, should we install curtains, and if the altar is always lighted or joss sticks, it may accidentally cause a fire. Luckily, there are windows at either side of A and or D. If not, an altar should not be "cornered" where part of it is at a L shaped corner - not auspicious ie. one side is blocked by an 'L' or wall. Anonymous wrote: Hi, We have an intention to welcome Guan Yin to our home in the near future. Please can you advise which is the best position for our home Guan Yin altar? (please see image for suggested A, B, C, D, E positions). My husband's kua is 4, my kua is 1. For the image of Guan Yin, is a portrait less respectful or in any way less than a figurine? Thank you. 1. In general, it is acceptable to have a SMALL fish tank in the kitchen. 2. However, try to avoid the following:- 2.1. If the kitchen is at the North compass direction of the home; then it is best not to place the fish tank. 2.2. Try not to place the small fish tank directly opposite (facing) the stove. 2.3. Try to keep at least 1 feet distance between the small fish tank and the stove. Quote: Hi there! Would like to know if having a small fish tank in the kitchen is okay?

Quote: Quote: I am born in 23rd September 1982 at around 1pm. Using the online bazhi calculator, it indicates that I am a strong earth with 4 earth, 3 metal and 1 water elements. I do not have any fire or wood element. 1. The above area has more to do with your Five Elements Breakdown at the time of birth. Here, when young some parents or grand parents visit a geomancer bringing along your date and time of birth to the geomancer. 2. The geomancy will do an analysis and if done properly would come up with the same conclusion as the above. The geomancer will then try tofind good names for that person. 3. As the Chinese believe, from the start (new born), we can influence our life or the baby's life by giving that person a good name. 4. Thus, as I have mentioned, the above Five Elements breakdown traditionally has more to do with finding a good name. 5. In addition, each element is linked to specific parts of the body. Thus for example, too much fire element may suggest that when at old age, may lead to heart or brain problems. While lack of water may lead to kidney and sex organs. 6. Some people, do check and change their name (if they find that it is not very good). But caution: if one does not use that name onwards, does not make much use. For example, if one is constantly called: Dick, changing a new Chinese name does not help if it is not used. Quote: What will you advise to boost my career and wealth luck? Is a career in advertising, marketing and communication suitable for me? Should I increase fire and wood element since I lack of them? In general, a strong earth person's career choices are: 1. Metal career 2. Wood career 3. Water career No as mentioned earlier, the first section above deals more with Five Elements breakdown at birth. Thus increase of fire is not beneficial to a strong earth person. The "increase of fire" should have been considered when chosing abirthname or future selection of name. You may consider increasing : Metal and Wood element. Water is also acceptable

Yes, one will be affected especially by the m5 at that sector also. while w7 has more to do with "loss of wealth". Hopefully, your office uses "cool daylight" lighting above your work space. If it is "warm daylight" then, check to see if it is possible to "change" it. In addition, avoid bright yellow and bright red items such as file folders etc at your work space. Try to hang a set of six coins in your cubicle. And if possible, purchase one of those bronze hulu and place it at your work table. I just started work at a new office which is NW1 facing in Period 7. TheNW sectorthat I sit in has the following flying star: m5, w7, b8. In June, I fell very sick when the yellow star #5 flew into this sector, probably also aggravated byillness star #2as the annual star. Does the m5 and w7 have an impact as well? What cures can I put in place to control both the #5 and #7 stars in this current Period 8? Would be grateful for your advice.

In general, based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, it is favourable for the whole building to have "clear-space" at the "frontage" and a solid object or mountain, behind it. Of course, another building can be the support. However, this is a general statement and does not mean that all buildings of such a nature may begood. Quote: Based on the design of the whole building, can we consider that the unit have a good backing aka mountain? Or does the "mountain" needs to come from another entity e.g. another building? Thank for your attention.

Yes, you may say, so. Quote: Anonymous wrote: Thank for your reply. And so from what i infer from what you have said, ba gua is also a cure that works if u believe in its effectiveness. Am i correct to say so?

1. I feel that another cultural identify of the Chinese 7th lunar month or simply called the Hungry Ghost month may not affect those whose culture does not have anything to do with being a Chinese. 2. Thus the morale of the storey " Don't follow blindly especially aspects familiar to only one culture but not to the other culture! Like the "cross" or the "ba gua symbols".
-
1. We have to look at the Ba Gua from two dimensions:- 1.1 Ba Guas that CONTAIN or has the markings of the eight trigrams on it. Or any other images on it. 1.2 Mirror(s) 2. Your observations are not alone. For example, many of the common ba guas are found with the trigrams on it. Andthe back ofit has a charm inscription. 3. In the past, I was also wondering that for the Chinese, we live in a differenct culture from the west. And thus the ba gua symbols may govern us. But,I don't think a "western ghost" or spirit will be scared of such a ba gua! Culturally, may havenever even come across it! 4. Thus, in my of those episodes of "Discovery Channel" showing hauntings in homes, and many of the rituals or quite alot has to do more with "western or even native indian" rituals and also several were performed with the cross! 5. Therefore, you are not wrong, to say that even I would agree that if one wants to place a ba gua for the purpose of "protecting" the home, in the west, better use a cross than a ba gua symbol. 6.I did mentionedpreviously that a ba gau mirror is often used for two major purposes (on it's own or combined together):- 6.1 Placed e.g. above a door to "protect" the home from "dirty spirits". (These ba guas have the 8 trigrams on it, even charms behind it or even chi ling (lion head) or even twin door gods pictures on it ...) 6.2 Mirrors usedto deflect (convex mirror) sha qi or "suck in" (concave mirror)wealth. 7. Thusin the west, if needed it should be used for the later i.e. para 6.2 and not with the intention to be used under Para 6.1 Anonymous wrote: Is bagua considered as a tool for symbolic FS (which i get to learn from some FS website where the culture and belief of the ppl in concern matters alot) or is it really used as a cure? If it is really FS cure, how does it realy work in harmonizing/blocking/deflecting the chi in the area that it is being implemented? Looking forward for your enlightenment.

Further to what I had mentioned, for any landed property, the "easiest" fix is to use a "top view" approach - inclusive of a lamp post or even the use of landscaping such as a row of plants or even tiles that show an outline of the missing corner. Inside the home, if Flying Star Feng Shui is used to assess the interior of the home, if there are in general #3's (quarrels, conflicts and disputes) then a Feng Shui practitioner may recommend the use of "lighting" to burn off #3 and or use fire element e.g. such as red to burn off this bad start. However, this is only a general statement as all flying star number variables has to be looked at e.g. mountain star, water star and base star - for a proper assessment.

1. The most likely facing direction should be "apartment building that is elevated above street level and is facing the ocean" or the apartment building "facing" direction. 2. If the home has a "known" history e.g. if one has stayed in this home for several or more years, can draw a chart based on Para 1 and usually another chart (standing inside the main entrance door looking outside of the home). These two are the main defacto "facing" directions commonly used by all professional Feng Shui practitioners. Michael K. wrote: Hello Master Lee!, I've read all the posts as you advised on front facing direction, now I'm really overwhelmed.I live in a 3 story apartment building that is elevated above street level and is facing the ocean. The general facing direction of the apartment front door is South. My personal suite front door is S3.I have 2 small windows in the SE and E, but the majority of my yang qi comes from a window that spans the whole NW, N, & NE face of my suite. Where should I measure my front facing direction from? Thank you in advance, Michael

1. Feel free to use the free tools available in our website to check your ba zi information or your lunar birthdate:- http://www.geomancy.net/reports/reports.htm 2. Recent years, someone discovered a writing in an ancient tomb with regards to interpretting whether one will have a baby boy or girl. In fact, there are many sites which had sprouted using this formula. Try to do a Search under Google or Yahoo for such sites. 3. Besides Para 2, some say the type of fruits one eat can help... etc... Good Luck!

Prominent Flower of romance can be said to "originate" froma home:- 1. Please take note ofsome of the characteristics of homes that may be affected by such activity:- 1.1. North-west sector of the home: Usually this type of home may have a missing corner at NW or NW is located at the kitchen area. And the rest usually has more to do with the male having an illicit affair. Under Flying star Feng Shui, the tell tale signs are usually the presence of #3 star at this sector. 1.2 South-West sector Again, it can be a missing corner or the arrival of #3 at that sector. 2. Having two or more stoves Having one stove at say the dry and another at the wet kitchen. And have a reflective glass backing the stove (double the reflection to becometwo stoves) 3. Water position at the right side of the house Yes, what you had mentioned:- Quote: Anonymous wrote: Need your advise. I have a water feature on my right side of the door (right when i stand in the house looking out). I saw one of your reply that says it might invite affair? Is that true? Thanks 4. 1. Kua numbers are often not used to analyse a sector (good or bad). 2. If possible, the best method is to apply Compass School - Flying star method in your home. 3. For example, if say the fireplace location has a #3 (Quarrels, conflicts etc). then inadvertently, "fire" as in the "fire-place fire" can help to neutralise this bad star(s). You see, some homes where there is a #3 at certain sector, some FS practitioners may recommend a fire element at that specific sector. This fire element can be in the form of a '24 hours' light or somethign red within that sector. 4. Therefore, the key success is not to apply general statements like: north = career etc.. but to do it systematically and even "scientifically" applying the recommended traditional Feng Shui tools. And not the "modern invention" of fixed template Feng Shui Anonymous wrote: Our wealth area has a fireplace. If we were to put water fountains, do we need to put them right next to the fireplace or can it be on the fireplace mantel or somewhere around the fireplace. Our career area is in the north section of the house which is a bedroom. Kua is 2. How can we enhance our career without disrupting other things

1. For landed property, the purpose of the light at the missing corner is like (from top view) ..."joining the dotted line(s)". Thus from top view, we can see a "stick" sticking out like a profile where if we join imaginery lines to it, it will form or "cover the missing corner". 2. It is good that if perimeter lights are turned on at night, this lamp should also be turned on. (Not for 24 hours, thou) Quote: Anonymous wrote: Hi. I read your advise to put a light in the missing corner and would like to do that. My question is : should the light be turned on 24 hours or just night time ? Also, how bright is good enough ? Thank you very much.

1. Big Tree - right opposite the main door Stand inside the door and look directly out of it. If the tree is not directly facing any part of the door (within the doorframe) then no issue. Else as mentioned in my earlier posting; can apply the "triangle-effect" i.e. do a search under this forum for it or the other options that I had mentioned. 2. Utility pole From your rough sketch - don't seem to be a threat to the home. 3. Pool Would need to have a proper assessment done based especially on Flying Star Feng Shui. Quote: Anonymous wrote: Sorry I forgot to mention a few things in my previous post about a house near a T section. This is the updated post: We are considering buying a house. Problem is, it is nearly opposite a T section. We heard that if the road seems to go straight into the house then it's not good, but in this case it seems to go to the side walk and part of the garage. Is it also considered bad? And is there anything we can do about it? Also there is a big tree right opposite the main door. We heard that it is bad, but is there anything we can do? We are not allowed to cut down the tree by the way. Update: there is a utility (electrical) pole at one corner of the house in front of the garage, and a pool that takes almost the whole back yard. How good/bad/neutral are these?

1. Frankly, the two most commonly cited cases of concern with illicit affairs are: 1.1 Having a water position to the right side of thedoor. 1.2 Having two stoves in a home 2. As the mirror, will still reflect TWO persons' logically, there is no "lamp-post" or a third party reflected in the mirror. Thus the concern is more of having a photo behind the bed with 3 persons on it. Otherwise, what you had mentioned is not commonly mentioned that reflects "affairs". More likely, the concern is of having bad dreams or nightmares! Anonymous wrote: Hi Master, Thanks for your reply. What i heard is mirror in the room facing the bed will cause 'affair' - makes it very crowded? Is there any truth to it ? Thanks
-
1. In my opinion, this concern with "mirror" facing one's bed originated from some comments that placing a TV set directly facing one's bed was not good. 2. As some FS practitioners felt that a TV's screen is much like a mirror facing the bed. The concern was that some FS practitioners say that when we sleep, our "spirit" wonders off our bed. As soon as they (the spirit) see's itself in the mirror, it gets a "shock"! 3. We can debunk this myth. The other side of the coin is what happens if the "spirit" wants to see itself in a mirror, check out it's look before wondering off? Furthermore, many new LCD screens are of matt material and relatively no reflection at all. 4. The idea that a mirror facing us, is akin to "hot or cold" continiuum. Some of us can literally eat very hot curry or chillies, but some of us cannot do so! 5. Thus some of us can sleep like a pig with mirrors surrounding our bed. While others (maybe they are too conscious or were scared by too many concerns with mirrors) may feel very uncomfortable. 6. Do ask yourself what is your "tolerance" level? 7. Some bedrooms, have purposely installed mirrors, even in the ceiling and even on wardrope cabinets. And even toilet doors! 8. The only way to avoid reflection on a toilet door is to install opaque film on the side facing the bed. Quote: Anonymous wrote: need you advise, Understand that mirror facing the bed is not good. But what if my toilet door ( those with tampered glass in the middle one) facing the bed ? As it is rather reflective when the light is on.. it's like mirror? need advise. thanks

1. Usually for any occupation, it should be viewed under two categories: 1.1. The Industry of the business 1.2. The job function, one's job specification is into in a firm. 2. Thus any retail business usually should fall under the "fire element" i.e. Sales, marketing are generally considered a retail function or simply selling goods or services. 3. Sea food - although it can be considered as coming from the sea = water, in the context of the Five Elements, it should encompass the "earth". Thus, in very general sense, seafood is derived from (the sea) which is part of the earth. (Element = earth element) Quote: Linh D. wrote: Please give me some advices, I want to know the element of the retail seafoods business, and is a water rat person compatible for the business? The diretion of the location is facing North.

1. For a landed property, it is very straight forward to take a compass reading i.e. majority of the time it is where usually cars drive past our main entrance area. And this is where often, we drive into the home. And most of the living room / main door is (located). For landed property, just hold the luo-pan (most of the time) standing inside of the door looking outwards of the home. The luo pan has a needle and there is also "two red dots". Once the needleis properly aligned try to place the two dots in between the needle - this marking will show the north compass marking. 2. Fora condo type development, if your building as mentioned earlier has one "facing" e.g. a single block facing one direction and yours is the 2nd floor, most likely the qi coming into the home is most prevalent from the building facing. Thus (try to determine this) and if it so, then you should stand with the back of the building and facing "outwards" to take a compass reading.. usually the way to do is to stand and avoid building columns (if possible keep 1 metre distance from any column or lifts). 3. For those who are not too familiar with where is the north can reference the north using any normal compass. Once one is familar with it, then no need the compass. 4. Even if one is using a Luopan, and if one has a good compass, then it is also very good especially for those in the equator, should try to use professional compass like Sunto - balanced to Region 3. Michael K. wrote: Hello Master Lee. A friend just told me what a landed property was; so to answer you question, no I don't live on a landed property. I live in a suite on the second floor of an apartment building (kind of like a condo). Since I can't see my front door of my suite from my center location I've measured my front door facing direction with my luo pan. I did this by squaring my earth plate flush with the door, then aligning my needle with the red line in the heaven pool (point south and end of needle north between the two red dots), lastly I read the compass degree by looking at where the top Tien Sum Sap Dou (or Axis Cross) lies. In my course you mentioned using a luo pan to determine the front door facing direction but didn't explain how this was done; Is the method I used correct?

1. Thanks for the sketch. 2. The good news is that your main door or from the sketch the windows don't seem to be in-direct straight path i.e. not attached by direct sha qi of the "T" junction. 3. The only concern is the "tree" facing the main door. If the tree has a tree trunk and it seems to be slicing into the main door then the best solution is to terminate or cut-down the tree (especially if the tree is within your premises. 4. Alternatively, there are at least two neutralising situations: 4.1 Do a search for " Triangle efffect " where one can place two potted plants or grow to plants closer to the door to form an "outward" triangle. 4.2 Place a convex ba gua mirror above main door or hang a six hollow rod windchime immediately in-front of the door. 1. Try to do a SEARCH for recent articles on "Facing Direction" of the home. 2. Try to measure the "frontage" based on the most yang qi or "brightest qi" of the home. Majority of the time if your apartment building has a "single" face, try to check if it fits the description of most yang qi. Michael K. wrote: Hello Master Lee, I'm responding to your last reply to my post. Thank you for you patience, and I apologize for my slow learning curve. I gather from your last reply that in measuring my front door 24 mountain facing direction that I'm supposed to measure the front door of my apartment building and not the front door of my personal suite; is this correct? Thank you again, Michael

1. Frankly, in many instances, there is no really need to cleanse the figurines. It is like akin to "nice-to-do" and not a "must-do". 2. In addition, the key success factor is often to make sure that whatever we place at our front door if possible should be:- 2.1 well nourished - figurines... not thin or skeletonal look 2.2 It is even better if these figurines have a "happy face". It is akin to the concept of "greeted" by a happy face! Imagine many of us who rear dogs... when the owner comes back... "that kind of feeling".

Yes, earlier, I had checked and found that for both male or female, born on your birthday (excluding time of birth) it is still the same element. With the introduction of time, usually there are two time range that can change this person's element from Strong metal to a weak metal person. And can also change the various component's of one's Five element breakdown.
