A popular saying goes: "If you can't take Mohammed to the mountain, take the mountain to Mohammed " Thus, If someonecan't understand what you want them to understand by seeing something you want them to see, bring what you want them to see to them.

These are some considerations: 1. There are some geomancers, out-there that strictly follow the "text" to the "T". 1.1. In the past, and recorded advice (Compass School)was to stand inside the main entrance looking outwards to take the compass readings. 1.2. Of course, in the past, majority of the homes were purely landed property. And many Chinese homes have a centre court-yard and almost all homes (other than communal homes) have entrances that face the frontage. 1.3. Some die-hard geomancers, till-today; still rely on those 1,000 year old "advice" and even treat them as "god send" or "Feng Shui bible". 1.4. They (these geomancers) will even quote such written documentation of proof. Thus if you have a chanced encounter with one of them; YES, most likely they will swear that your frontage perhaps faces North. 2. Just like Darwin. Feng Shui has also evolved, somewhat. 3. Countries such as Hong Kong started the trend of taking the frontage of buildings and subsequent stacks as the facing direction. 3.1. This is because of the small space of such countries : Hong Kong and Singapore. Where Singapore, has more than 90% living in high rise 3.2. Thus because of this, and the fact that for many high rise buildings; the main door is often considered an "after-thought". The "facing" of the main door of apartments depends on how the architect connects the various units / passageway together. 4. For landed properties such as yours, it is still quite common to find the main door as what you had described: 4.1. If from a Feng Shui point of view; it could be that there could be a lone lamp post that could have sliced through a main door. Thusperhaps for this reason, themain door is tilted or towards a sideetc.. so that there is no way any poison arrow(s) including things like a sharp pointed roof - neighbours homecan be aimed towards "your" main door. 4.2. Other reasons could be that thegarage isalso at the side of the home and a side main door is a practical reason. 4.3. There are otherreasons for the main door at the side or in cold countries, the concept of "double" doors etc.. 5. Even if one is a die-hard fan of traditional Compass School writing;as you had mentioned, the main door faces North. And under the Eight House concept; North or East suits an East group person. More like, "it feels good isn't it? More of a psychological "feel nice"rite?

Technically, based on your simple sketch; this home is sitting West facing East. What is your purpose of determining the frontage. If it is for the purpose of applying the Flying star; then; most likely as it is for now it should be facing East. Unless, you have a wonderful lake or nice area "behind" this house. If so, perhaps: for the purpose of calculating the Flying stars: the facing direction, here could instead be west.

Recently, have received several requests for some of the forum postings on geomancy.net's facebook. As such, will be posting especially light and entertaining caricatures to our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/geomancy.net In the past, frankly, I had always struggled with what and what not to be posted to facebook. What I understand and figure out is that unlike a proper forum or Wikipedia; facebook is only good at photos and caricatures created at a specific time. And I feel that it is not that efficient for storing forum threads / postings and the least efficient in retrieving such information for future reference. Thus, you will continue to see this forum nor my wiki.geomancy.net out-of-date. Far from it. For now, even blogs are not as efficient as a forum for this purpose, also. Thank you!

Please note that this is only a general advice forum and not a full-blown "Someone do it for you - service". You wrote: 1. The facing is not ideal, A1. Location, location, location or rather as I had mentioned in the past : " The forms or Shapes and Forms is the Principal consideration. Thus, even if a facing is not ideal; but if SAY a home has wonderful Shapes and Forms; the "Forms prevail over the STARS" is the clue. A1.1. Therefore one liners " The facing is not ideal" does not stop, there. One has to look further than just this simple statement. You wrote: 2. the kitchen is in the NW corner, see attached floor plan. I plan to renovate the kitchen, but not immidiately. what shall I do during the interim period? once I move the stove and micorwave over to another corner, will that solve the problem? A2. One of the considerations would be : It is "Nice" if the stove's position be suitable to (usually the female of the house unless the male is the home-maker etc...). There are other considerations. You wrote:3. most likely, we will use garage door more offten than main door for every day use. from gararge, we will walk into a mud room (W/D room), and then kitchen. Doors are fcing each other. does that create a problem? please refer to the floor plan A3. What you wrote is like many who have been adviced to something like "tilt" the main door etc. And in Feng Shui; this is considered not permanent. Ultimately the facing direction would still be the same especially if we are trying to apply the Flying Star Feng Shui. A3.1. Thus, it is more like "taking sugar coated pills - whenever one uses says the garage door instead of the main door. This has more to do with psychology - or feel good factor, that's all. You wrote: Q4. there is a big, healthy tree right in front of the house, block a lot of eat light. Not sure what you are trying to imply, here. But if the tree is healthy, that is a plus point. As to whether it is big or block sunlight depends also. If the house face west, then the tree can add some welcoming shade.

Appreciate if you can do a SEARCH (at the TOP left frame of this forum). "As similar type of layout(s) had been discussed previously + the methodology are also similar."

Usually, in most developments: there are stacks/units that are very good to average to poor. Thus, like most classes where they are not specifically streamed:the students wouldfall within a bell curve e.g. Top students to average and below average students.

Under symbolism in Feng Shui, often, we see families placing not one, but more than one of these "ingots" at their wealth sector.

The infinity knot nowadays is a very common sight. This infinity knot includes the symbol "FU" = Prosperity.

Hope you understand. It is virtually impossible to comment on a few lines of text and two very blur photos. In my opinion, onlythe writer knows what (he/she) is talking about.

I vividly remembered sometime around the 1990's; this lady wrote in to tell me that she had a geomancer who visited her. And sold her lots of products in the name of Feng Shui. She "secretly" purchased the products and more of them from that geomancer. She had mounting debts and lots of roll over credit (credit card payments) due to the purchase. She recounted that she was fearful that her husband would find out and divorce her.

Frankly, such questions need someone to follow through on a person's birth-date; analyse and evaluate the information..... I am afraid, it is beyond this Free GENERAL advice forum. -
Numerous Chinese individuals remain indifferent towards the number 13. However, there are those among the Chinese population who harbor a strong aversion towards the number 4, as well as its multiples such as 44 or 444. Nevertheless, it is important to keep in mind the saying: "what is good for one person may not be good for another." Source & Credit:

1. This illustration showsAustville Residences Type D1. 2. From a Feng Shui point of view; it is considered inauspicious to have the WC directly face the stove (when the toilet door is opened ALL THE TIME) 3. Of course, if the toilet door is always closed all the time; in Feng Shui; this is a plus point. 4. There are some good and bad news, here. 5. The bad news has already been pointed out. And actually, it is again based on pure common sense. 5.1. Why common sense? 5.2. IF the toilet door is OPENED and IF the toilet seat and cover is at closed position. 5.2.1 Do you notice that in the past and even today, many toilet bowl seats have rubber studs so that the plastic or ceramic seat will not brush or if forced down quickly slam against the toilet bowl. 5.2.2 Because of the various studs; especially for many toilet seats, there is always a gap; or rather, we can see a gap when the seat and cover is fully closed. 5.2.3. Whenever we flush the toilet bowl; water will be forced at high pressure into the toilet bowl and all the "air" and micro-droplets will be forced out thru this gap. 5.2.4. Imagine this: if the stove is very close to this gap, all the dirty micro droplets will spurt onto the surface area of the kitchen cabinet and stove. 6. Much like when a person sneeze; the person's micro droplets would fly a distance. This is why in an enclosed space, flu spreads rapidly. 7. The good news, here is that the stove table top is such a big distance away from the toilet bowl. And, therefore from a common sense Feng Shui less of a concern. 8. In the second attachment, I have "modified" the Type D1 for illustration purposes. (Please see attachment). 8.1 Here, if the distance between the stove and WC is that close; then this is REALLY based on Common sense inauspicious especially if the toilet door is always open and the WC lid is always closed, also.

You stay there, the lousy architect don't: Austville Residences... 1. This is the first time, have come across a non-existent yard or service yard area for an apartment. 2. In my opinion, this is the first layout Type A1, that one encounter a virtually "air-tight" space at the "back of the apartment". Usually, there is at least an opening at the so called service yard. 3. More:- 3.1 Common sense says that it is inauspicious to have the washing machine so close to the cooking area 3.2 Be careful of washing powder + when washing machine is at HOT water cycle, some evaporation of "soap powder" water residue 4. Having an enclosed backyard encased by a Household shelter is a bad idea: 4.1. The cooker hood will not suck away all the smoke/oil and smell. 4.2. High moisture from just washed utensils & plates. 4.3. Be careful of washing powder + when washing machine is at HOT water cycle, some evaporation of "soap powder" water 4.4 If no dryer, how to hang clothes at the non-existent YARD area to dry? RESULT? Forced to dry clothes at the balcony. Which is often frowned upon and illegal for condos. 5. From a Feng Shui perspective: Sink and stove should preferably not share the same wall. For this layout; the sink shares the same wall as the stove.

Common sense says that: 1. Everyday, all of us shed millions of dead skin cells. 2. Installing a fixed platform bed means that we no longer are able to temporarily remove the platform bed to clean; below it. 3. Many platforms no matter how good the quality; will always have joints and not air-tight. Thus, not only dusts, but also our dead cells and even spilled liquids can fall through the cracks or joints towards the floor.
