  1. Dear Anon, Thank you for the illustration. The second door you mentioned in the illustration seems to be a passage way rather than a door. As the doors are on the side, I cannot see any other doors directly facing your "always" opened office room door. Thus from a shapes and forms point of view, it is perfectly acceptable to have this type of arrangement. Furthermore, your office table is away from this passage way which is good and that you had mentioned that this is an excellent facing direction for you.
  2. Dear Anon, Thanks for the detailed drawing. 1. We are not considering compass directions in this situation. (As it is not given). 2. In my opinion, I would either go for option A or B. For the following reasons:- 2.1. If I am going for Option A, I prefer not to have the bed directly on the opposite side of the stove. But if the stove is not placed on the opposite wall of Option A, this placement can be considered. 2.2. OPTION A I understand that some people may say that the bed will then be next to the toilet door. In fact, many condos have this situation where the best (in terms of privacy considerations) the bed is next to the toilet as in this arrangement. 2.3 Frankly, it is not "fatal" to have a bed next to the toilet. Although whenever we flush our toilet bowl, the water from the toilet bowl will be 'sprayed' all over the place. Even if you were to test your toothbrush, it will have some germs. But as majority of us are healthy most of the time, a little germ is no issue. 2.3 Under symbolism in Feng Shui, we do not need to place a partition between our bed and the toilet door. A small bedside table with a table lamp can be the symbolic replacement of such a partition if one; ones to use this. (Not compulsory). 3. OPTION B 3.1 In my opinion, the "minor" issue here is as you had mentioned, the privacy such as someone walking past your bedroom door (your bed - in full view). This is the only "minor" drawback. Futhermore, who is this someone if there is any .. They are usually your immediate family.. not too bad rite? 3.2 In terms of qi or air circulation, Option B is one of the best because, if we do not turn on aircon, fresh air will literally flow (in or out) between the bedroom door and window area. Thus if it is too windy, we can control the windows to allow fresh air all the time moving in and out passing our bed. 4. In my opinon, Option C is usually reserved more for the bedroom cupboard. As if we close our eyes and imagine, qi or circulation of air will often be limited, here or there is usually lesser air circulation, at this area especially the corner of the room. 5. Thus, personally, my preference is Option B, followed by Option C. I may only consider Option A if air or aircon is turned on to circulate the dead qi in that area. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Hi, I'll like to get advice on where to place my bed in my bedroom. Looking at the attached picture, my bed is currently placed at position B. Is that the best position to place, or should i actually move it to A or C? Do i have to use some furniture to block the door from facing the bed if so? Thank you.
  3. Dear Anon, Usually many Feng Shui practitioners will practise: 1. Compass School Feng Shui : a. Eight House Theory or Pa Cai Feng Shui This has to do with the placement of stove/ bed arrangement/study area. If so, usually or often, there is no changes, here. b. Wall colour and wealth area Often, if the wall colour isbright yellow, bright red or bright green, then there may be some instances where there may or may not be changes to these walls. Wealth area willmost often be different under Period 8. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Our flat is build in 2002 (Period 7). When we get our keys, weengaged a FS Master to advise us on stove/bed arrangement/weath area/study area/wall color. Now is Period 8, will there be any changes on these advise?
  4. Dear Esther, Usually, from a Feng Shui point of view, often, the bazi element of the person is matched with their bedroom colours. Overall, colours that often may have an impact on sickness is Bright Yellow and in some instances, Bright Yellow and Bright Red. In other instances, Bright Green is another colour to watch out. In general, safe colours are metallic colours or white or light pastel colours. Since the woodstove is black, blue is in my opinion (in general) still acceptable in the bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Lisa, Assuming that if your backyard is East, then most likely, your frontage is West? facing? If for example, your home frontageis West 1 225 degrees (between 247.5 to 262.4) and West 2 270 degrees (between 262.5 to 277.4) then one can take advantage of water wealth position if water flows from right to left and exits between 277.5 to 292.4 degrees. And it is advantages if water flows passing left to right of the main door. If you want wealth for the home, then the water or drainage of the above property should exit between 7.4 to 37.4 degrees out of the property. If one wants to have "Power and Authority" i.e. high positions in business, politics etc.. then try to have water exit 157.5 to 172.4. Please note that it is never advantages to have a large canal behind the back of the home. If so, most homes which try to reduce the impact would have to build a wall or wooden trellise such that one cannot see the canal or drainage flow when standing inside the ground level of the home. The above is to show an example that for all landed properties; there are often TWO water (drainage) exit points where it concerns the wealth of the owners. And often, there is ONE exit point where it will boost the "Power and authority" of the owners. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Lisa P. wrote: I'm interested in finding out about moving by the water. My backyard is facing east with a wide canal. Is there something I can use for some luck.Thank you lisa
  6. Dear Susan, Yes, so long as we try our best to follow some of the concepts. Not all concepts will suit our needs. What you are "now" practising is what I called "Commonsense approach" to Feng Shui! This is a natural form with or without Feng Shui! Many of us do very, very well with just commonsense! Many Feng Shui practitioners, visit our homes for just 1 or 2 hours and go off! And we are left to follow sometimes very silly advise! 1. Do not place a TV set facing our bed: In many of the past forum messages, I said this is fine. Do find out more why is this so? 2. School children can have open bookshelves at their desktop level. Again, check out what I had said based on commonsense approach. 3. In the past, I mentioned a very nice movie titled "Executive Decisions". The hero, who had some experience in small planes was tasked to fly the jumbo jet to land. With the help of the air-stewardess, he kept on forgetting what to do next to land the plane. The air -sterwardess.. yelled out to him "Just FLY THE PLANE!" (meaning - use your commonsense!) We all should adopt Susan's attitude, and what she has said. It makes sense rite? Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: Thank you for your reply and subsequent "advice" about bed placement. It is indeed a relief to know that bed placement should be based on what is right for the individual Sometimes, one feels the restriction of what the "rules" of Feng Shui recommend, so it is nice to know that practicality or personal preference is also allowed to influence one's decisions within the home Many blessings to you and again, I thank you, Susan
  7. Dear Susan, Under the Holy Trinity of luck: 1. Heaven Luck (born with a silver spoon or not) 2. Earth Luck (Feng Shui of a home or office or place) 3. Human Luck (Usually, it is about us: have a feel good factor) Every home and even bedrooms have a limited scope to place a bed. Especially placing a bed that suits our bed-head direction - due to things like fixed door to the bedroom, windows etc.. Many of us try (nowadays) to do things in the name :sake of hoping to have better Feng Shui such as trying to place our bed-head towards a good direction. However, we should always consider this situation as NICE-TO-HAVE. And not a MUST-HAVE. What is more important is the Human Luck factor (or man luck). Or feel good factor. Thus, imagine if we do not avail ourselves to looking at good head sleeping directions, we would instead, place our bed according to the shape and form of a bedroom. In fact, true Feng Shui is also about "harmony in nature" and the hope that it gives us harmony in our life! Thus, what is the use of placing the bed head towards our good direction, but, we simply don't feel that comfortable? Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, Frankly, you may have to first find out whether your posting to this new position is permanent or not. And since you were posted as a quick fix, try to speak to your supervisor (Boss) that you are equally unhappy with the new post. Depending on your current work performance, length of stay in the company, the better your previous work performance in your existing posting the better it is for you to "bargain" with your boss. Most likely to see if you can work in this position temporarily - as a last resort. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Anon, If you just do a search, you can find my article on guidelines for the kitchen:- You can go to: Tips For The Kitchen Posted in: Info :: Feng Shui Tips & Guidelines Posted on: Sun, 01 Aug 2004, 06:06 AM And read the above article. In fact, toilet guidelines does exist. In general, where possible, try to have at least one wall of the toilet sharing an external wall. If the house has more than one storey, try not to have the toilet bowl (on the second storey) just above the main entrance door. In addition, for other toilets on the secondstorey, try to super-impose the location of the toilet onto say the 1st storey layout plan. Try not to have the toilet above the dining table, stove and other areas where we often sit down e.g. the living room sofa seat etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Anon, 1. The sleeping direction or best bed-head direction should be considered "Nice-to-have" and not a must have. 2. Even if sleeping with the head facing west, I personally feel that this position is the better choice. As you had also mentioned that the other position e.g. placing a tall bookshelf and placing your bed-head towards North seems weird. 3. Feng Shui is about Earth Luck. While feeling comfortable in a bedroom surrounding is about "Man or human" luck. 4. Thus what best is to sleep in a "normal " bedroom vs a "weird" layout bedroom. If we don't feel good in a bedroom.. might as well throw out the whole concept of "theoratical" feng shui. Worst to face west.. 5. To share with you: There is another Feng Shui school of thought.. this has to do with "feeling good factor". There is one Feng Shui master who.. often when clients cannot find a good bed-head position.. he would (not me) personally tell the client that - Hey! actually; when we sit up a the bed and when we breath (air or qi or chi), we are actually "facing" a direction. Thus for your benefit, you should "feel good" when you hear that when you sit up most of the time in your bed, you are facing your good direction "EAST" Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Anon, Frankly, there is no major issue with the poster. However, if we do stare hard-enough at a peacock feather, many of us may see a large "eye" looking at us. Perhaps, this may make some of us feel uncomfortable especially since it is in a private bedroom. If you really feel uncomfortable whatsoever, then best to remove it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Angelia, To be honest, it is very difficult to provide advise based on just a few paragraphs of your situation. In a Feng Shui assessment, it is best that a proper Feng Shui audit be done to even consider a single apartment not just giving "short" advise. Thus, the external Feng Shui i.e. the landscape, the site and the land and even the block that your unit is in is crucial in the assessment of the external Feng Shui. It is nice that the second home is more squarish. And I am not too sure how bad is the "odd" shaped NE1 facing (1st apartment). Theoritically, as what you had mentioned both NE1 and SW1 can enjoy better wealth under Period 8. As equally both have water wealth #8 at the frontage. And best that for these two units, check to see if preferably, this immediate frontage is not blocked by other closeby neighbouring block. Actually, for both NE1 and SW1, notoriously, under Period 8, both have sickness qi at this facing direction and opposite direction. And these need to be "contained". Usually it is preferred that the house suits the male breadwinner i.e. your husband. For yourself, it can be 'balanced" often by you sleeping in a specific position in say the master bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Angelia T. wrote: We are currently staying in a NE1 facing house(door at South sector) built in Period 7. Some master told us that we should move out of the house quicklybecause it will affect the family's health, besides, the shape is odd.So we bought a square shape SW1 facing house(door at West sector)and wanting to renovate and move in. Shouldwe renovateour current NE1 house to change it to period 8 or renovateSW1 house and move there instead.I know that both are sum-of-ten houses in Period 8. I am in a dilemma because I realised thatSW is my death direction based on my Kua1, NE is my son's death direction based on his Kua4,although it will suit my husband's Kua is 5 for both. Which house should we renovate and occupy or should we not consider both at all?
  13. Dear Anon, Yes agree! If it is a small bedroom, the only sensible thing to do is to keep the bedroom tidy. For Feng Shui, cures and enhancements, have to go further than this small bedroom for success. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: I live in an apartment where my bedroom is really small. It is only big enough to fit my bed at one wall (the connecting wall to the bathroom) and has less than a foot on the left hand side when you are facing the bed. There is about 5 feet at the bottom of the bed where my feet face a window. I can't turn my head to see out the door because the door is off to the side of that five feet. because the room is so small it is full of bed with not much room for anything else. Since I can't move the bed and there are so many bad chi things going on here, what can I do as a remedy? You know like putting crystals between the front door and the window it faces to keep the good chi in.
  14. Dear Little, Frankly, in authentic Geomancy; so long as one is selecting a Mandarin name for a business, fine! It can be looked at to check whether the name is both auspicious sounding (phonetic sound like) and also whether it meets Chinese Numerology and the Five Elements concept. Thus, it is quite similar in nature to a parent or grand parent going to a geomancer to help to select a new name for a Chinese baby child. But, if the business name is purely in English or even French etc.. there is no Chinese precidence in selecting a good name. Thus an English name like your propsed business name K Miss 3 does not follow any Chinese good or bad name. As Chinese Numerology may also be usede.g. counting the number of strokes per character and whether the name has : Metal , Water,Wood, Fire, Earth elements. If you are going to find acomplimentary Chinese (Mandarin) name then one can ascertain whether it is auspicious or not. Similarly particularly in Singapore, some Chinese wanted to have their Chinese name changed. But if one is say already 40 years old and working in a Singapore company that often does not use mandarin, changing the name is also not going to help in the change of luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, In general, if an HDB precint has majority either North or South facing apartments, then if particuarly the male breadwinner is a West group person, may consider looking at especially if it is a Flying Star Period 8 South 2 and 3 apartments where there is particularly a double #8's at it's facing direction. If the apartment is a Period 8, South 1, then check that if possible the living room is at say North or the back of the apartment. A west group person can still benefit greatly from a South "facing" apartment. Frankly, usually changing the facing direction of a door has more to do with "PACIFYING" one's concern than effectively changing the qi. There were several attempts even by some Feng Shui practitioners who had asked their client not so much of changing the door but to create a "hallway" so that after coming into the home, the hallway is facing the owner's good direction. Yet, these were the same people, who had called for a 2nd Feng Shui (opinion) after having no results or in fact they were facing more difficulties in their new home (apartment) even with this change. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: All the flats in an HDB precint I like have their front doors facing either North or South. This is an ideal facing for East group of persons. My family members and I coincidentally belongto the West group and the best front door facing directions are NE, NW, W and SW. I like the flats in this precinct very much. Can I build a wall (inside the flat entrance) parallel to the front door and shift the wooden door inward by 90 degrees so that the front door is now facing West? I will leave the front metal gate in its orignal location. Is this method effective in making the flat auspicious for West group people. If not, is there any remedy for this limitation? Thank you for your advice!
  16. Dear Hoa, Yes, unfortunately, the traditonal Chinese coffin's cover is similar shape i.e. semi-ciruclar when we look at it from the head (front to back) view.
  17. Just take note that if the water feature has a spout or multiple spouts, then "aim" the water spouting out towards e.g. the sofa or into the home. Don't aim the spouting water towards the main entrance door! An alternative is to use a water feature where water flows out evenly from e.g. the mouth of the vase equally. Or if it is a rotating water feature, than try to make sure that the rotation does not rotate towards the main door.
  18. Dear Anon, More importantly, you should have completed your renovations on or after Chinese New Year 2004. In addition, if you had given your townhousea fresh coat of paint then the better. In addition, if your townhouse feels fresh and does not have too much clutter all over, then there is a very high likelyhood, that you home can be considered as more of a Period 8 home. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Anon, To be honest, some homes or apartments have bad Flying star numbers at the centrepoint of the home, especially under Period 7. Therefore, in general, a toilet is exactly not a major issue for such homes. Instead of placing those mirrors or screens or false wall, in my opinion, it is simply to leave it as it is. And, if possible, try to maximize or enhance qi or neutralise qi in a home in other areas. From a practical point of view, few if any nowadays, place a mirror at the toilet door. And those false walls is often very cumbersome to get in and out of the toilet when there is limited space. And most importantly the toilet if possible should be dry and airy instead of being enclosed most of the time. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Anon, Water position is particularly good at SW is the indirect wealth spirit sector. Try to check out this past posting:- Illustration Of A Five Element Enhancer Posted in: Info :: Feng Shui Tips & Guidelines Posted on: Fri, 05 Jul 2002, 11:14 AM In general, the water feature need not look like the above, but do take note that the best water feature MUST not be too small e.g. those minature desktop ones. More importantly, if possible, the water feature must try to have all five elements in it. Please go to that article for more details. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Understand thatplacing a water feature on the east or southwest corner of the living room is good in 2008. 21. Dear Dave, You can try to search for : " Food and Yin and Yang" or Yin and Yang Foods...or foods that are yin and yang... As under the Chinese system as you have mentioned, food can be classified as under Hot (Yang) and Cold (Yin).... In general, chicken and pork should in my opinion, be classified as under "white meat". Nowadays, the main concern is that animals both chicken and pig (pork) may be injected with too much anti-biotics... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Please see attachment: sample illustration, below:- 1.1. A condominium. 1.2. Person A : Best personal elements are 1. Water (Blue, black or grey) 2. Wood (Green or wood tone or brown) 1.3. Person A's Gua: East group person. 2.In this condo, the Person occupies the Master bedroom located at South direction. And this happens to be Person's A's : Excellent direction. 3. Person A's best elements are 1. Water (Blue, black or grey) 2. Wood (Green or wood tone or brown). BUT the combination of Flying star numbers in this bedroom has especially a bad #3 = bad wood element. Thus best to avoid GREEN colour in this bedroom. As this bedroom also has a bad #7 metal, based on his ba zi element: he can use : 1. Water (Blue, black or grey) 2. Wood (Wood tone or brown) colours which match his ba zi. However,asGREEN is also suitable to him BUT, as there is a bad #3 wood, it is bestto avoid GREEN colour. Thus, not only we should review Gua VS Personal Element (Ba Zi) but also Gua VS Personal Element (Ba Zi) VS Flying star elements. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Anon, 1. Yes, if your working position is North, then you should be facing North and sitting with your back at South. My Kua Number 1 My best working position is N ( 337.5 to 22.4) Do you mean sitting N at 337.5 to 22.4 facing N with my back at South. 2. You should be facing SE. And sitting with your back against NW Quote: If I base on the sitting position recommended. MyWealth position is SE (Prosperity) If I choose to work on this position.. Do you meansitting on SE facing and facing SE position . 3. Usually, especially the for the Five Yellow, it is advisable for this and Tai Sui location to : not to do anymajor renovations or distrub these two areas, this year. Only recently, from 1980's onwards some Feng Shui practitioners voiced concern "to avoid" sitting facingespecially Tai Sui. But, realistically, this is considered as "nice-to-have" not a must have. Given that many people work at fixed work-stations and don't have the luxury to shift one's desk/or work-top. Some simply can't! However, if one is trying to close a deal say in a meeting room, then if possible try not to sit facing "north" - again - if possible to do so. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Anon, Thank you for your detalied illustration. Option B is acceptable in Feng Shui. For Option A, from a Shapes andForms Feng Shui point ofview, althoughyou are "technically" correct to place a "mountain" in the form of the check of drawers -- but, the bed-head is not "resting" onto a proper "wall" or "window" for support. The key issue under Option A is i.e. from a top-view; the bed is literally not supported atit's bed-head. As compared to Option B where, the bed-head is supported by the "building" wall orclose to the window. Thus what is worse off is to have the bed on it's own in the middle of an "island". WarmestRegards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: We would like to place our bed with headboard facing the South East window wall. We have an idea (please see image) to: (A) use some chest of drawers to 'back' our headboard without having to sleep directly under windows or (B) have bed under window, headboard either lower than / covering part of windows. Both ideas, we will cover the window with wooden Venetian blinds with slats upwards. The windows are 3-panel, sliding, only the left-most panel is usually opened. Can the chests of drawers actually act as 'wall' or 'support'?
  25. Dear Gabi, All of us have taken an examination or examination(s) in our life. And usually we find some teachers teaching us some "techniques" in how to approach certain types of questions. For example, one of the most common type of examinations (school examinations) is: that we are given a time limit i.e. to try to answer 5 questions say out of 10 questions given. Many of our teachers will ask us to allocate a specific time for each of the questions. Thus if we were told to answer this exam paper within 2 1/2 hours and need to (compulsory) answer 5 questions then we should try to allocate 30 minutes each. And the logical way is to try to answer all 5 questions giving each question say no more than 30 minutes. The rationale is simple, here, the key word is try to "MAXIMIZE" our score. No point answering only 4 questions and leaving out the 5th question which totals = 20 marks for that question. Some of us even fail by answering 4 or less questions. Feng Shui is also the same: Try to maximize our "luck" (score). For example, if we find that our "prosperity" is found in the toilet, and because such areas are fixed, most of the time (frankly) we can't do more, here. So, try to maximize your luck by enhancing or neutralising some other sectors, instead. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Gabi H. wrote: in our house we have 2 toilets andd 2 bathrooms in the south east. what can i do to help our prosperity?Thank you for this site.
