Dear Pam, Frankly, I would have to say, it depends! For a N3, P7 home, do check where are the activity rooms e.g. living or family rooms. If they are located at the back of this home, then, it is ok to keep to P7. However, the current P7 home has inauspicious #2 and #3 with #7 at the centrepoint of the home, thus is reflective of loss of wealth and sickness within the home. One may have to either consider changing to P8 or look at changing the main door direction to a N1 home (depending on the situation). Like I mentioned, more investigations should be made, first. Generally, it is a site worth considering as: 1.1. all the blocks can be of very high floor(s) 1.2. higher floors have generally good unobstructed views 2. For such a development, often, the aim is to get higher floors vs lower (1 to 5 storeys) 3. Try to use the Eight House to check to see if the home especially fits the breadwinner. 4. Another major Feng Shui consideration has also to do with where is the afternoon sun? Generally, it would be good if the masterbedroom, bedrooms and even the living rooms are not "bathed" by the afternoon sun. 5. Even if the rooms are not facing the afternoon sun; do check that the walls e.g. say the masterbedroom walls do not soak in the afternoon sun. This is because, it is a well know fact that concrete walls do "soak" up heat. And even in the evening, it can radiate heat as late as 7 or 8pm. From an economics point of view, or resale point of view, because of it's close proximty or next to the MRT station, it is "guaranteed" or there is some insurance with regards to resale in the future. With the expected glut in the condos -- in the next 10 to 20 years. This is where, most "salaried" workers would have to retire and may most likely have to sell their units - to maintain a certain standard of living or to 'cash-out' for their savings. Personally, because of it's close proximity to town, it is in my opinion, worth taking a look. Dear Emily, If your wealth element is Wood, then you must either be a Strong or Weak Metal person. For a weak metal or strong metal person, his/her wealth element has to do with Wood. However, for a weak metal person, one cannot automatically gain wealth from "wood". This is because the weak metal person is too weak at the moment to draw wealth directly from wood. For a weak metal person, it is best to increase one's weak metal with (1st priority = earth element) and secondary adding more metal to metal. What happens if one is a strong Metal person:- Yes, in this case, finding a wood especially a STRONG wood person is good. Since wood is the wealth element of the strong metal person. Five Elements concept and external facade of the building (or hotel) Under Feng Shui, often a competitor or even a person who wants to build a new home/office complex or any other business could employ a FS practitioner. More often, the FS practitioner will first scan the immediate environment to see what type of building could best be built on the site or plot of land. For example, if the neighbourhood is predominatly or has flat structures or rectangular shaped structures. This represents the earth element. Under the Five elements concept, the FS practitioner could either:- 1. Propose a tall and "thin" structure that is symbolic of a tree or (wood element). Here, under the destructive cycle of theFive Elements, wood or a tree's roots would be able to crush into the soil or (earth) to get nourishment. Thus, wealth is "taken" from the neighborhood. 2. On the other hand, the practitioner could recommend a metal shaped building e.g. a circular one. Here, under the five elements concept, earth harmonises with metal. Or in other words, under the productive cycle, metal draws nourishment from the "earth". 3. If the building has been built, colour scheme for the external of the building could be checked. 4. Dear Jeanette, A key success factor is to apply Flying Star Feng Shui. This is because under Flying star Feng Shui, if one can rightly activate the correct locations, this would be beneficial. On the contrary, activating the wrong sectors may bring worse consequence. For example, under Flying Star, if the water star #8 happens to be in a specific location at the living room, this would be very favourable for wealth. However, under Period 8, there are three distinctive numbers and their significance under Flying Star:- #8 = current prosperity. Here, there are two stars : the mountain MS#8 represents relationship/lottery luck; while WS#8 represents water wealth position representing prosperity #9 = future properity. And this is represented by the fire element. Here, be warned that if say the living room has this #9 (fire wealth element) and one inadvertently place water, here, then one can drown one's "future prosperity". #1 = future, future prosperity. This number can be activated with water (since this is a water star) to add wealth to the home. As you can see, Flying star is "exacting" and if used properly can be very good or potent. However, what you are mentioning has more to do with "guessing-game-feng-shui". Or to the Malays, they will call it "HAN-TUMP" or anyhow "whack" senario. For a water position, one also has to be extra careful, i.e. if one enters the living room, the water position should preferably not be on the right side of the main door. Dear Jeanette, Yes, it is preferred that a water feature does not face the main entrance. This is because, this is symbolic of wealth flowing out of the home. If you intend to install a granite wall feature, try to avoid a highly polished granite or marble wall. Since if it is reflective, it is like a mirror. Where under Feng Shui, a mirror facing a main door is not favourable since, it is considered as even before 'wealth" or qi comes into the home, it is deflected out of the home. (Under commonsense approach to Feng Shui, a highly polished granite wall -- is not favourable. Since, once we enter the home, we may --inadvertenly (while in deep thoughts) see an "image" like a stranger in the home. Where possible, the wall should have matt or dull granite (would be better). Dear Barb, Generally, even if the road has little or low traffic, by the fact that it is exposed to a road view, would place it as a home (as you had described) at a "T"junction. Under the water classics of Feng Shui, it is good to have water coming into the home. But do check whether at the exit point, can water canal be seen at the back of the house or at the side of the home. (If so, this is considered inauspicious). Dear Sophia, Frankly, the Eight House theory has it's limitations. This is because often once we have already bought the home (a fully completed home), we are not able change the interior of the home such as the toilets or major wall structures. It is best therefore that for a completed home, it is good to try to apply the Flying Star Theory to check for any imbalances and correct them. As to flying to Period 8 and the many ways of doing so without a major renovation, please do a SEARCH in this forum for this topic since it has been extensively covered especially in the beginning of this year if one does not want to do a major renovation. Dear JE, Under Period 8, in my opinion, especially for the central palace, one need not need to "lock" or neutralise the #5 at the central palace given that there is a Base #8, here. For the following general reasons: 1. It would look very odd to have a windchime at the centrepoint of the home. 2. Furthermore, in most homes, the windchime at the centrepoint is "stagnant" does not chime at all. 3. If it (windchime) does chime, it can make a pretty "disturbing" noise throughout the other rooms in the home. 4. Since #8 is an earth element and is the "wealth " element of period 8, a windchime may seem to kill #5 but it can also kill #8 totally -- the wealth # for Period 8.I 5. Given that #8 is good in period 8 and it is facing a similar #5 (both earth stars); pitting both #8 with #5 is in my opinion, generally a "square-off" thus the central palace becomes neither good nor bad even if #2 and #5 are around vs the entire "force" of #8 for Period 8. Dear Zey, Let us not be confused with different theories. Your queries has to do with wealth leak relating to Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Perhaps, it is best to attach a sketch of the current layout. This is because it isbest (most favourable) to have a divider in an "L" shaped living cum dinning room. For the rest of the partition or divider, it is bestthat it does not seem to"cut" or slice intoareas like the living or dining room area. If because of (image- here) if we do install a divider:the question is does it or willit cut-off sufficient lighting e.g. at the main entrance or just behind the divider? Dear Anon, Seems like the home should be considered a Period 8 home. Since it would need to take up to next year or 2006 to be completed. Here, it would imply that when the apartment blocks reached Period 8, I believe all the floorings, facade, windows, main doors have not been completed as yet. Thus a test is equvalent of when did the home had a major renovation? If most of the skeleton of the home had been completed in 2004, but major finishings such as the flooring, toilets, kitchen etc is uncompleted, but completed under Period 8, then I personally feel that the home should be considered a Period 8 apartment. Dear Chris, There are two considerations under "Feng Shui" i.e. 1. Symbolism under Shapes and Forms FS 2. Commonsense approach to Feng Shui 1. Under Symbolism in Feng Shui, it is considered a disadvantage to have a knife or sword hanging or placed or displayed in the living room. As this is symbolic of quarrels or disharmony. 2. Under Commonsense approach Just like guns with live bullets lying in the home. This can be assessed wrongly by young children or a parent or family member who is quick tempered or used by intruders into a home. Generally, as you had mentioned, it is best to keep or display the sword in a specific room e.g. your study room. And if possible, it is kept in a display cabinet under lock and key. Dear Sophia, 1. Apprently, no, re-arranging furniture does not change the qi e.g. from Period 7 to Period 8. But, there is some truth in "space clearing" or spring cleaning. Sometimes spring cleaning does help in improving the "health" especially if the room is not so dusty or stuffy. 2. Frankly, there is often no issue with having the dining table in the kitchen area. In fact, there are lots of homes both in Singapore (e.g. HDB 3 room) and in small Hong Kong apartments where the dining table is also located in the kitchen. 3. In fact, in some instances, this is acceptable since the preparation/ eating of food is at the same place vs partially in the living room area. 4. It is also not like one is currently cooking a "storm" and eating at the same time. This is because even if one cooks oily food, all the cooking would be over by the time, one ate the food. Dear Yoke Yeen, 1. Frankly, from a micro perspective of a condo (the site itself) there are always good units that have excellent / good or favourable qi. But other units may have less or unfavourable qi. This is often applicable to all developments - large or small. 2. From the fact that you have brought up the prison, plus many others have brought up this "issue", would suggest that there are more people who may just don't like the idea of living close to or facing or looking at the prision (since some units have such a view). 3. Under Para 2, these are not directly Feng Shui related, but rather affect our human component ie. our "feel good or feel bad factor". If our thoughts are negative towards living or associated with living close to such a location, then, now or in the future, (resale) there are always many who would link or associate it. thus could affect the 'resale' value. 4. There are cases where even clients asked me about Ballota Park which is just next to Edelweiss park. But they associate Ballota Park with the prison is because, whenever, one needs to drive out of the condo onto a major road, the road junction is the prison's frontage etc.. Thus all these has to do with yours, mine or other's feel good or feel bad factors. In Feng Shui is also not like AIDs. Where, there can be bad prison qi to contaminate our homes. even with aids, it cannot be passed unless by fluid etc.. and not air-borne disease or something like it. thus all this good or bad is in our minds. What happens is that for some of us, having constantly reminded of the prison serves as a deterent to commit crime. While others have a harder time having to look at the IRS (inland revenue service building) and feeling guilty about not paying taxes! All these are in our minds. However, based on your description: to me it seems ok since: 1. the stairs do not face the main entrance. 2. in Feng Shui, a straight staircase is not that good. But it looks like you mentioned that there are some turns or landing. If so, this is favourable under Feng Shui. To me, your staircase, therefore, don't seem to be a major issue under Feng Shui. In particular, for the masterbedroom bed, your wife should not (must not) see it moved or participate in the moving of the bed. If possible, on the safe side, she should not participate at all in the move while pregnant. Only after the shif has been completed and the master bed is firmly in place, then she can "move-in" or come into the new home. Once this is done, don't move the bed at all. Dear Elena, Yes, there is a recorded study known as something like "bubology" (sorry my spelling is wrong). This is a study in Germany where it was found that there is high correlation of cancer with beds above a sewerage pipe-line. Feng Shui is much about this invisible "qi" or water course such as a sewerage pipe which could emit harmful "vapours". It looks like it is difficult to relocate your bed. For example, it is not favourable to have a toilet bowl above the main entrance. i.e. one day, if the pipe leaks, it may flow into the home. Another typical commonsense example, is a kitchen above the bedroom. Here, there can be a higher probability of a fire from the kitchen. And since fire/smoke rises upwards, it may affect the above rooms (bedroom). 2. Scientific forms of Feng Shui Using Compass School Feng Shui such as Eight House and Flying Star 3. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui Understanding qi and poison arrows that can affect the exterior or interior of a home. These are threats to a home et.. 4. Intuitive Feng Shui or Feng Shui by "sixth" sense What you have done belongs to this category. And if it does not feel right after having place the mat, remove it as soon as possible.
