Dear Users, I would like to add further on this matter. Let me relate it to why I always stress that when an individual lack a certain element, one of the best cures is to come into constant contact with the related element, such as using colour. This relates to my elder brother. He is basically a weak wood, and lacks lots of water and in the past he did not really believe much about Feng Shui. We told him that his favourable type of element is water, which means that his likely favourate colours are blue, black and grey. And true enough, when he started to believe in Feng Shui, he purchased a pond and started to rare koi in the living room (but also note that is was plac…

Dear Rohit, The situation, you face is very common for most of us. Do take note that the Eight House Theory is but one of the many theories. More importantly, it is used for: 1. How suitable the house is to you. 2. Even if both partners are `opposites' this should not be an issue. One can also apply the `shield' i.e. one partner who has favourable sector sleeps closer to that sector, while the partner, sleeps on the other side. Dear Anon, To be truly honest, it is better to check on other means, than Feng Shui. As I have often mentioned, that Feng Shui is not a cure all. The rationale is because, often, we hear that for banks, they would prefer one to use a signature for an account especially if one reaches a certain age. Here, the implication is that when we reach a certain age, we already almost have a fixed style. Here, our temperment, outlook and even how we relate to our family members have already firmed up over the 17 years. And, it is difficult to directly change it from a Feng Shui point of use. Lest one becomes accused of becoming a Quack Feng Shui practitioner. Given this understa…

Hi! I've been trying to research but could use some feedback. I live in an apartment complex and when you open the front door there is a closet door right across from it, it's also very tight. Then take one step and to the right are stairs, to the left (end of the stairs is a window) I've read the window ( you should put a blind, but my cat loves that window lol). Could a mirror above the window or picture of nature work? I'm planning on putting a crystal from the overhang wall that I can reach over the stairs, and the wall going up with the stairs - I was going to put pictures. On the closet door across from the front door, I was thinking about getting a nature sticker.…

Dear Daniel, This area is quite difficult to `pinpoint' under Feng Shui as the fundamental concept would be based on Yin and Yang concept. Of balacing it e.g. creating a more yin or yang environment based on individual's habbits and preferences. Some of us prefer to study or do work with music on (and it also depends on the type of music) or some of us must have the quietest environment to concentrate. 1. Perhaps, you can go thru your mind, what is your preference like in the past and present and try to see if you can create such an environment. 2. I have read quite often that it is good to find a specific location that you feel comfortable in (advantages if it can be i…

Dear Sandra, Usually, the main entrance door is the door: 1. Where you have your unit number on. 2. It can also be the door you frequently use. In your case, since you use the door at the "East facing" frequently, this should be considered your main entrance door. What you can do is to check which door is more auspicious to you. The east facing or the North door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In my opinion, and in reality, there is not much under Feng Shui that can be used to speed up a sale. Usually, based on most frequent advise: 1. Where possible, clear out all rubbish in the home. For example, if the furniture or any cabinets are in bad condition or "rotten", make an investment to throw them away. 2. Always try to spent a little to repaint the entire home e.g. in a white coat of paint. 3. If the house is dirty, give it a major wash. Nowadays, because of the saturated market and if one's apartment is not near the mrt or good amenities, then, it is much harder to be sold. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, Generally, for studies usually what affects you is the location of your study location in the house and also your own "likes" and "dislikes" for certain subject. 1. Often when most people have problems concentrating or doing work, it is usually because you stay in location or working in a direction which is unsuitable for you. This is usually the case. Example you are trying to study in a room which is your five ghost or irritation. Generally, you will not feel very comfortable there. Use the Eight House report to help you determine that. 2. If the Eight House shows a good room for you to study in, then the other reason is the room itself, it may contain bad stars w…

Dear Anon, I hope that you remedied the situation and `return' it back to normal. As I do not have more facts, it is most likely, due to Sickness Star 2 or an `imbalance' at the location. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hello Anon: Cecil always points out that proper Shapes & Form placement is a quantum leap in FS. I think placing the bed & desk using shapes & form criteria is more important than best directions at this point. If you can get both - great! Good luck with your studies. Sincerely, Elena

Further to what I had mentioned, this attachment, shows how -- often; when the dining room is lower than the living room, it could perhaps suggest that the back of the home could be lower than the frontage of the home. Here, under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, it is often mentioned that usually the back of the home should be same level or better still higher than the front i.e. the back should be equal to the tortise support. This attachment will give a good understanding of what I mean by this.....

Dear Cecil, (sorry.. if this seems to appear again, i seem to have problem posting this) Thanks alot for your help on the kitchen! Really appreciate that! I have a few more questions which I need some help on: 1. DiningTable - (please see attached picture A) If our dining table is not placeddirectly in front of the main door of the house but sort of on the diagonal side of the wall, is there a problem with it? How can we rectify if it's a problem? 2. Living Room Windows (from same picture A)We did away with our balcony and converted that to part of the living room. But we realise that from our living room windows, one of the apartments from the opposite block ha…

Dear Cecil, Thanks for your reply! However, based on my question 3 on the master bedroom, I have a further question about it. As shown in my previous diagram, since there are 2 hdb flats by the side of the pedestrian walkway, do the corners of the 2 hdb flats constitued sha-qi aimed at our master bedroom? What can we do if it is? Thanks alot! - Amy

Under symbolism, preference for even number of chairs excluding baby chairs &/or for rectangular tables benches are excluded. In addition, if the round dining table has only one "leg"; make sure that it does not have low center of gravity; which could result in the table toppling down...

Hello master, I want to ask you which is a better place for dining room? A good sector according to 8 mansions Sheng Qi (also Sheng Qi for husband, and Tien Yi for wife) with bad flying stars 6(mountain) 6 3(water) (it is the southwest sector, and I put a fireplace there) or a bad sector according to 8 mansions Huo Hai (also Huo Hai for husband, and Wu Gui for wife) with good flying stars 8(mountain) 4 1(water) (it is the south sector, and stove is also there)? Does it make any harm to be a fireplace (electric one) in Sheng Qi sector? Thank you very much

Dear Varnie, As I do not have a good picture of how your house looks like, it is difficult to really comment on just the NorthEast. Usally, the flow of Qi is looked at from the whole house i.e. window positions, the main entrance, the back area (windows, doors) etc... This is because Qi usually has an escape point as it moves from one side to the other end. Factors including air pressure e.g. high/low pressure points especially if one is living close to the sea differs from day and night. Generally, not to sound too complicated, layout plans in relation to the windows/doors are a preferred way of looking at it. Taking into consideration other factors such as the shape / m…

Dear Julie, Please see below:- In my opinion, this has to do more with `commonsense' approach than Feng Shui: Generally, a `solid' door is preferred as it is considered `theft' protection. A door with glass was considered good because it was felt that it could be broken in. Alternatively, especially in high-rise buildings, building code require e.g. escape doors to have minimum fire retardation of 1/2 an hour or more (depending on the door). Therefore, in my opinion, overall, it does not really mean that a door with glass panels is totally inauspicious. And in my opinion, can still be used without changing it. Many interior decorators recommend mirrors to reflect…

Dear Anon, Yes, what you had described seems OK. For example, when you stand outside the main door facing into the house, one should not see the dining table. In fact, my home faced this same situation as what you have mentioned:) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Phila, 1. As much as we should try to see if family members can be `placed' at favourable locations; this may not be possible; most of the time. 2. In my opinion, first priority should go towards placement based on Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 3. Here, the following considerations should be made:- 3.1. As mentioned under Para 2, top (first) priority must be given to placement under Shapes and Forms. 3.2 One should not `fit' the sitting positions e.g. of the `office' furniture and as a result; the flow in the dinning room becomes `odd' or bad. 3.3 You should consider, where the `entrance' / window areas are in the dinning room and place furniture that is functional. 3.4…

Dear Sophia, Since Grand Duke is at the location mentioned, it is better to be on the safe side -- i.e. move the grandfather clock away from this location. However, a double edged sword exists if there are nasty #5's x 2 at this location. If so, between choosing ot offend Grand Duke or "submitting" one's soul to devil, it is better should there be a multiple of #5 in that location to leave it to deal with the "devil". The morale of the story? " The Devil has the right of way, first! Grand Duke, move-aside!". Warmest Regards, Cecil

In a practical world; so long as the design and placement seems to work for you this is acceptable. As frankly, there is no "bible" or "encyclopedia" to say that a dining table has to be of a certain fixed design. Like our 2nd Prime Minister's wife used to say: "His (TT Durai's pay of around $600,000) is peanuts. And this is in Feng Shui considered as "peanuts" if compared to some other considerations.
