Dear Desmond, Desmond Woo wrote: I am a weak fire element person. My favourable jobs belongs to wood and fire element. In your website, you mention Engineering field belongs to the wood element, but are you refering to all engineering jobs or only applies to certain engineering field? Is Electronics Engineering belongs to the wood element or metal element? Can you give me some advice? No basic engineering is Wood, however not all forms of engineering is Wood. For example, Civil Engineering is more Earth, Mechanical Engineering is more Metal etc. So really depends on what you area are you working with. Electronics Engineering is Wood element. Hope that helps. Warmest Rega…

1. The Flying Star concept uses the "Five Elements concept". And each Flying Star number is associated with the five elements. For example: #6 = strong metal and #5 = strong earth. 2. The 20 Year Flying Star Feng Shui In general each sector (North, South, East, West...) etc has three numbers; MS# W# B# (Mountain, Water, Base or Palace star). 3. When applying the Flying star, one should be looking strictly on the Flying Star numbers. Thus even in the West sector, if there is a double #8 then the rule of Flying Star applies that if this is the frontage a "proper water" position can be considered. 4. For simplicity, can understand that strictly North = Water, East = Wood…

Dear Rachel, Rachel R. wrote: My question is : If I want to obtain a bazi element report for my son, do I use the monkey hour or the dog hour as his hour of birth (since he was born last Saturday 23rd Aug 2008 at 4.58pm British Summer Time GMT +1 )??? Our stand for all time zone related is to use the local time of birth. This is because to factor in location, the only true way is to input the long. and lat. of birth. But that adds further degree of error and not everyone will record this information, so not practical to be used. So you should use the hour as in the hour when your son is born. So for example if he i…

Dear Edwin, edwin tay wrote: i'm a buddhist and we have a buddhist altar at home. i would like to find out if there is any implications if the buddha statue has suffered defects over time, eg, cracks, discoloration and missing corners. kindly advice. thanks! Generally, any type of statue will suffer from wear and tear. As long as it is not the face, it should be ok to keep it untouch. If it is really in a very bad condition, then you should consider to check with the buddhist monks to see if they recommend to replace it or not. Usually, they will be able to advise you better and also provide the necessary ceremony to help you replace it. Hope that helps. Warmest Regard…

Dear Anon, 1. Where possible, try to obtain `old' Chinese coins. It is plentiful as it is now being produced commercially (replicas) all over the world. 2. Where best, traditional Feng Shui uses these `old' coins. 3. In Singapore, our new batch of $1 coins have a trigram profile and I recently used it in my home `to test' it out. It so happens that the `Sickness' sector was right at my bedroom window. I use the Chinese Red Packet (Envelope in Red colour) and used `good quality' 3M scotch tape to tape the coins (two rows x 3 coins) and pasted it on to the Red Packet. So far, I find that it is working. This is because, I had some minor `illness' before this and now, feeling…

Dear Anon, I would advise you to place six coins on the middle beam only. I feel that this would be sufficient. In addition, the higher the beam the better. The rationale is because too much metal is not adviseable. It is best to exercise prudence. Furthermore, I am not sure how is the flying star of the sector/location. Therefore, it is best to apply the "Customer Engineer Concept" of not applying too many `cures' at anyone time. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, There are two ways to `decide' whether one should place a decorative mirror. 1. If one does not want to have anything to do with Feng Shui or Feng Shui advise. Then go with one's own feeling. In addition, if there are no effects on one after the lacement of the mirror i.e. hanging on the wall or using a glass/mirror table, then continue to do so. 2. But if one wants to find out further, do an analysis using tools like the Eight House to check the suitablity of the breadwinner's intangible force at that sector. Use the Flying Star to check whether the location is auspicious or not. Where possible if the wall (location) is inauspicious, avoid placing the mirror …

Dear Shona, 1. It is good to check up (if you can - some history of the house). For example, try to enquire who previously lived in this house etc... In effect, try to find out more... 2. Depending on your level of participation or non-participation on the application of Feng Shui, you can:- 2.1 Apply Shapes and Form Feng Shui Techniques to do an environmental scanning of the site. And application of Shapes and Form to your home. When you mentioned that there are "lots of" poison arrows: 2.2 You should stand at the front entrance and at each window and look out of the house. Here, a poison arrow only becomes a threat when it is `aimed' thru the main entrance or the windo…

Dear Anon, This depends on a person's gender: Male or Female 2. If the person is a Male:- Then the House of Conception is to relate him and his relationship with his wife or spouse. 2. If the person is a Female:- The House of Conception relates to her child. Therefore, both `statements' are correct. It depends on either a person is Male or Female. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Please see below:- This is the same concept as a full height screen. Some practioners would advise the use of a wind chime in between the two doors. However, one should get proper consultations before placing a wind chime. (Especially if one is placing at the NE, NW and West) locations of the house. A hanging mobile or crystal is not advised. This is because in my opinion, I personally see no rationale for the use of a crystal or a hanging mobile. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Merian, Is it possible for you to place a small cabinet or cupboard such as a short linen cabinet of say 4 to 6 drawers at the foot of the bed? Alternatively, if you have a partition, this would also do. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi In order to create some unique design to my master bedroom, the ceiling was designed in the way that half of it waswith false ceiling. And next time my bed would be placed under it. From your advice, I understand that it's not favourable to place bed under beam but not sure for false ceiling. My mum was very unhappy over it & keep stressing that it's very bad.Attached is a photo of the design of the false ceiling in my bedroom. Hope that you could give some advice. Thanks & regard.

Dear Chrissy, Not all 3rd day of each lunar month is bad. And many Chinese do celebrate some of the auspicious events on this day:- For example:- 3rd day of every 1st Lunar month Birthday of a Chinese Toaist God commonly called Sun. Many Toaist celebrate his birthday on this date. 3rd day of every 2nd Lunar month Birthday of the Chinese god of literature. 3rd day of every 3rd Lunar month This is the birthday of the God of the protector of the North 3rd day of every 8th Lunar month Birthday of the Kitchen God deity 3rd day of every 10th Lunar Month Birthday of General Mao Especially in the past, because of the birthday significance of such famous gods (deity or ge…

Further to what I mentioned, Oops! I forgot: I strongly believe many house-husbands will not be so forgiving as all the great mums around! Most like, he could "accidentally, let loose these dogs, rabbits and other pets. And if the house-dad's do get too angry, these dogs may end up being shipped to Beijing, China to be served as dog meat, rabbit meat etc...! Frankly, in my opinion, if one is starting to rear fish, then, it is best not to go for three tanks at one go. Try out one and go from there, Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Daniel, I am glad that you brought up your viewpoints. What you have mentioned in general is what some Feng Shui practioners practise: " Generalised Feng Shui ". One good thing about generalised Feng Shui is that one do not need to explain and analyse Feng Shui based on e.g. The Five Elements relationship. It is so easy to `preach' Feng Shui based on our feelings and to be on the safe side, use a fixed template. Anyone can practise such Feng Shui in hours. Each of us can write a book based on our experiences. To speed up things, one person writes about the Career Sector in the North. Invert the template for the South and this becomes a sensational book on Feng Shui f…

This is a sterling example to understand, the critical qi flow, based on the Flying Star Theory. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, for bedroom two, the most likely influence comes more from the East sector, be it qi or wind coming into that room from the windows or thru the bedroom door. While the NE stars are locked up between the corner of the bedroom and part of the staircase area. The Eight House Theory has severe limitations i.e. you are either at a sector or under a different sector. It is not like you can get the earthquake to change the total directions of the home. Anyway, the stars you mentioned provided iti is for the East sector, are not that bad, as there are w…
