A Pair of Keiloon or Fu Temple Dogs Hi, Thank you, Glyn, for sending me a private email to inform me that the Keiloon resembles a Fu Fu Dog. Earlier this morning, prior to heading to work, I passed by the memorial dedicated to Lim Bo Seng, a renowned World War II hero from Singapore. The memorial featured the Keiloon positioned in various `compass' directions, serving as guardians. I have observed a similar Keiloon at my grandfather's grave, where it stands guard on both sides. The Keiloon figurine is not associated with Feng Shui but is more aligned with Chinese customs. In my view, it would be more appropriate for this `creature' to …

--- Note Added by Cecil Lee --- As there are many ways to write a Chinese word in " romanised form ", for example, some words can be `pronounced' under a specific Chinese dialect e.g. Cantonese or Hokkien etc... It can also be a different `tone'. It is hard to guess what the word refers to. It is best that the word is in Mandarin characters or if one can, provide some accompanied text or a description of the object. It would be nice if possible a picture of the object. Otherwise, it can mean alot of things even thou it can be in Han Yu Pin Yin without the `tone' on top of each character. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee --------------------------------------- Dear cecil, What …

Dear Cecil, Thanks a lot for your reply. My FS element is weak metal( 31st Oct 1956) and my husband's FS elementis weak water( 11th April 1953). Out main door is in 165 degrees. We both belong to west houses. I have read some books and referred to your site. The reading has aroused my interest in FS. Hence I planned to make some changes. But I am afraid to make changes without proper guidance. I cannot afford to go for paid reports as of now. With the help of your site, which is the best site for FS, I have details for my family members. My main interest is to improve our money inflow and career prospects. Now since NW and NE are our properity sector I want activate this…

1. If you are following the Eight House concept, then sleep with your head facing a good direction. 2. As this is a free GENERAL advice forum; you may want to consider on your end, drawing a Flying Star chart. Usually, this is looked at : for example, if a sector has rather bad flying stars such as #5 or #2; then it may be better to sleep in other sectors.... this sort of thing....

Dear Angela, Angela Le wrote: I don't understand very well on how to improve my earthly elements or at least increase or decrease it. Like what is considered water, ( a water faucet in the house) and what is considered earth ( more plants in the house). What about wood furniture? Can that be counted as earth and wood? I am a strong fire and apparently for the next 10 years I need more earth than water. What does that mean? I tried finding the answers on the site, but could not find it. Please explain. Basically, make use of this talk article about the five element and relationship as a reference:- URL: http://talk.geomancy.net Generally, you should look at the larger p…

Dear Maria, The main thing to remember is that if the house is already (for example, a period 7 house i.e. 1984 to 2003), it does not matter if renovation works is carried out, last year or next year as it will still have the Period 7 influence. In my opinion, there are many varied interpretations of what constitutes a missing corner. Some examples are: 1. You can apply the 33.3 percent ruleset where if a renovation is major only if it is equal or greater than say 33.3 percent of the floor area of the entire house interior. For example, if your house has a floor area of 1,000 sq. feet, then if there is a renovation that is equal or greater than 333 sq feet, can be consid…

Dear Anon, Basically, there is a Chinese legend called the " Legend of the Eight Immortals ". It has also been cast as a TV serial by a few TV stations in Asia. In general, the legend is about how 8 persons each became an immortal to serve the world. As it is not Feng Shui but more related to Chinese culture and `stories' ... I will not dwell on it further. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Eugena, Basically, flat number is a additionalflying starnnumber analysis to help determine which unit number in an apartment with the same layout is better. For example is #06-08 better than #12-08? etc. Very useful in house hunting process where you have two units of the exact same layout and facing, except they are on different levels. Hope that helps. These are some considerations: 1. Common sense 1.1. In real life, if we find something "a miss"; what do you do? Walk away from it. 1.2. The same thing, here. 2. This House number THING or Vertical flying star .... is meant for mostly flat ground and on an island like Singapore, mostly gradient land where the land compared to others although is undulating can still be valid. 3. It is again based on common sense or rather cow sense not for unsually high ground like e.g. Bukit Timah Hill or on top of Mount Faber.

Dear Lien, The following are the most common objects on a pillar: 1. " Nothing " on top of it. 2. A pair of Lions on each side of the pillar 3. A pair of Fu-dogs on either side. 4. A pair of eagles with its wing ... wide open either flying or about to fly or protect its young. As I mentioned the above is not directly related to Feng Shui.. one can generally say that it has more to do with `decorating' the pillar. There is no distinct `facing' direction for these objects on the pillar. But closer to the "home" i.e. at the main entrance door area, I did mention that one should preferably take note of the material used on each side of the front door. For example if one is pl…

Hi, Each year, the 7th month under the Lunar Calendar is called the 7th month: 1. This is also called the Hungry Ghost. 2. For this year, it is around 11 August and 9 September. If you have a Calendar with the Lunar dates, you can check out when the 7th month starts and ends. 3. To the Chinese, this is a very inauspcious period especially for: a. Any outdoor activities and includes no renovations. 4. What is the 7th month? In brief, this is based on Chinese `Superstition' or to be more exact, a Chinese Belief. It signifies that ghosts are let out to the world during this period they are allowed to roam around. 5. Many `celebrate' the occasion by giving offerings e.g. buyi…

Dear Sharlene, Usually this term is used under Flying Star Feng Shui. Under Ba Zi, the equivalent is quite close to"nobleman" luck or indirect luck. So general, it ecompass anything to do with "indirect" luck such as luck for say the woman of the home - in her career luck. And often, it also refers to "indirect" luck that give rise to financial success. For example, the breadwinner is/was able to purchase stocks that "suddenly" rise in value etc.. Or a business opportunity out-of-the-bluethat brought alot of $$$ to the breadwinner. Warmest Regards, Cecil Sharlene Soh wrote: Dear Master, Could you please elaborate what is indirect spirit? Dear t p, t p wrote: i picked up an item at an antique shop. the item had a label reading "feng shui compass", but the item contains nothing that resembles [to me] a feng shui compass. the item has a compartment that opens to where something may be placed, which leads me to believe it just may be just a simple incense burner, but i'm totally confused about characters carved on the top and sides of the item. If it is a compass, it will at least have a compass in the center. As you mentioned it opens up to be empty. Thus, no likely. The incense you mentioned could be a possiblity or simply a storage ornament. As for the words. It is not clearly written. But it is actuall…

Dear Anon, Frankly, it depends. This is because if one is the boss, than, one can easily face either way and no one can "talk-bad-about" us. For example, in Singapore, a person or the boss who usually has his own personal room, often employs a FS practitioner to best orientate his/her office table. And many staff under him or even the entire company is aware that he/she has engaged a practitioner to look at the best position of office and his specific room arrangement. However, if one does it alone; for example, if the rest of the colleagues face a specific direction, then, it would be best that you (the person) face a smiliar position. Since, facing a different dire…

These are some of the considerations:- 1. British English terms:- Ground Floor or First STOREY 2nd Floor or 2nd STOREY etc.. 2. Some architectural firms use US naming convention:- 1st Floor = Ground Floor 2nd Floor = 1st Floor (US uses FLOORs while UK traditionally USED to use STOREY.. perhaps, this has being "contaminated" by US language.) For example, UK uses flat. While US calls it apartment. 3. Thus in your case, since your country is Britain; then :- Ground Floor = 1st Storey and so on.. 4. From what I understand from you:- GROUND FLOOR (1st storey) = #01-xxx 1ST FLOOR (2nd storey) = #02-xxx etc....

Dear Anon, 1. Usually, the Gua number refers to the `Eight House' Gua (Kua). 2. You can generate a manual report at : http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm 3. The above links has write-up on how to use the Gua to your home. Such as finding the centrepoint etc... 4. You can also used the Free on-line report i.e. The Eight House Report at http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate this and many other reports. 5. My Applied Feng Shui book has at least two formulas for calculating the Gua number. The methods are equally applicable to greater than Year 2000. 6. Recently, I received a private e-mail from a user using Lillian Too's (one method) where one needs to input the `fou…

Dear Darlyne, Yes, based on the year of birth 1974 is Tiger Wood. So if you just use a basic Year of Birth Analysis, most will determine you to be a Wood Element. For the many people born in 1974, they will not all belong to Wood element some may be a fire-wood, water-wood etc. So each day provides a different element. There is also another element based on the Eight House Gua Number which is also based on the year of birth. So these two are not very good feng shui analysis tools to determine what element you really are. The best way is to use the Ba Zi Feng Shui where it takes into account your Year, the Month, the Day and Hour of birth to give you a very accurate analy…

1. Feel free to use the free tools available in our website to check your ba zi information or your lunar birthdate:- http://www.geomancy.net/reports/reports.htm 2. Recent years, someone discovered a writing in an ancient tomb with regards to interpretting whether one will have a baby boy or girl. In fact, there are many sites which had sprouted using this formula. Try to do a Search under Google or Yahoo for such sites. 3. Besides Para 2, some say the type of fruits one eat can help... etc... Good Luck!

Dear Jisun, You can use this manual method to check your actual Western to Lunar calendar:- http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/ayear/a60-80.htm This in general, if you are born on or between 2 Feb 1965 to 20 Jan 1966 under the Chinese zodiac, you are considered as a Wood-Snake But if you are born on or between 21 Jan 1966 to 8 Feb 1967 you are considered as a Fire-Horse. You can also make use of the free reports at http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate your correct lunar chart by simply keying-in or input your Western date of birth. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S.
