Dear Master Lee, I live in Germany. The kitchen style is quite different from style in Asia. The stove is electrical (not fire) using heat-conduction (quite flat) and mounted in the long wooden board. The sink is also mounted in the same board. So the stove and sink are on the same height. Since I live in rent flat, I can not change the height. Is there way to remedy the problem? Thank you in advance. Warm regards, ZQ

Dear Vincent, Thanks for sharing with us the information about the placement of stoves in Sweden. Yes, infact, I have come across this when a few readers e-mailed me about it quite sometime back. In Feng Shui, we generally avoid placing the stove in the center of the kitchen, and this is not commonly practiced in China. Most stoves are installed against a wall. Since having the stove in the middle is quite standard in Sweden, it should be acceptable, as Feng Shui mainly advises against placing the stove next to the sink or refrigerator. In this arrangement, placing the stove in the middle means it won’t clash with the sink. Another key consideration in Trad…

Dear Glyn, Frankly, this depends on the type of stuffed toys. If it is `cute' (don't blame me but the dictionary says cute means adorable but ugly) or any soft toys, this is acceptable. I have seen many homes even in Singapore, where the child (especially girls) display a wide range of their toys e.g. barbie dolls etc... The only thing is not to display stuffed animals e.g. tigers, leopards etc... Other objects to avoid include war toys, guns or swords etc... I am not sure how this would affect the alter ego of boys thou (if they know how to read this) and start to throw rotten eggs at me:) Likewise, swords should not be displayed facing the main entrance door and paintin…

Master Cecil, Sorry for delaying my response. I am very happy to see your response. I would send you satellite photo for outside view, once i get everything confirmed and before we make an offer to the house. As of now we are still searching. Because of your website we were able to know which direction is good for my husband (bread Winner). Keeping that in mind we are very careful in selecting a house in a good community. Thanks again Hari

Frankly, I did not zoom in to individual stacks / unit. Thus, ROUGHLY, these stacks should either face marking in BLUE "A" or marking in GREEN "B". Of course, please do your own homework and don't rely totally on the info, below. Note: I don't general quick glance / eye-ball only.

Hello Cecil I have a similar problem..as follows: 1[In addition, things like lone lamp-post(s) slicing into the windows / main entrance of the home are also considerations of Feng Shui threats.] There is a water pipe facing the middle of my window which is next to the main door. It does not face the main door tho. (see photo). What can i do to retify the threat? 2[Other considerations also include where is the drainage from / into and out of the property as this will affect the wealth of the home] This pipe is it considered a drainage? It runs from top to bottom and there's a small srain flowing past the front door (right to left) into a small man hole. Should i…

Thank you Cecil for your reply!! It is helpful. I will try to get an image to you to see what you think of having the stove on the wall, with your back diagonally to a door. But again thank you for what you have told me so far it is helpful. Amely

Sample attachment also shows that if there is a corridor leading especially to bedrooms e.g. master bedroom etc.. then it is best also that the partition does not "slice" this passage way.

Dear Cecil, My bedroom door is not facing my mom's door. In this case, can I hang or place anything in my bedroom so that my mom doesn't get angry with me so easily? BTW, she only gets angry or furious with me and not with other 3 children. I'm the 2nd daughter, with an elder sister and 2 younger brothers. I think it's the Chinese culture where the second daughter is born to be hated. My last hope is Feng Shui. Please advise.

Hi Thanh Huynh, Thanh Huynh wrote: Thanks for your reply Robert. I have one more question. What if I plant 2, 3 more trees around or be side this big tree and some more flower bushes to make it look like a garden, will that help also? Yes, this will work as well. As long as you can break the sha qi it will help. Furthermore, by making it into a garden, you actually beautify the place and that will definately be good in terms of feng shui. As creating a nice environment that you feel good to live in is essentially what Feng Shui is all about. Creating Harmony Hope that helps. Thank you very much Master Cecil for the reply. I just made an error. The septic tank is actually located just beneath the sink only in an east - west (length formation). At least, I think, this is more preferable than being located below the stove area. The septic tank is in the basement and is wrapped by 4 walls made of concrete. Thank you very much.

Further to what I had mentioned; the attached illustration shows: a practical approach to Feng Shui, today. And highlighted in YELLOW are the type of work even in a DIY environment should be required. Note: the Flying Star chart in the illustration is about: a home: with variables of : Year of birth and Facing Directions. E.g. Period 8 N1 etc... Not the tortoise that happened to appear out of water and you copied from it to do a grid. This is a no-no. If this was the 1960s and you draw a chart that you did earlier... perhaps may impress a few people. But in the >2000's era... this is just too basic (Kindergarten type of FS).

Dear Boon Lee, No offence, here. Why not, proceed to do an academic study and take up a doctorate in Geomancy or Feng Shui. Here, one can then try to validate what was written about Feng Shui to see whether it works or not. At least, it kills two birds with one stone: Not only one could find out if Feng Shui is valid and at the same time, come out, by becoming a doctor i.e. others can call the person: Dr instead of just Mr / Ms / Mrs... Warmest Regards, Cecil

These are some of the considerations:- 1. How many of us; during our school days, were "forced" to change our sitting (study positions) "yearly". 2. Come-on; are you implying that you will judiciously monitor "yearly" where Tai Sui is and request the person: male or female to change his table directions, again yearly? 3. If your intention is to change; just because you became interested in Fung Sway.. today.. What happens if you got tired of Fung Sway.. and venture into other areas.. would you still care to change your table direction. 4. Frankly, speaking, I can't even be bothered to review and or change my directions (yearly) as long as I own the same home.... 5. In you…

Dear Gines, 1. Yes, I have used your layout plan provided to find out the centrepoint of the house. 2. The centrepoint looks like it is at the same location as what you had drawn. Please see below:- Please refer to attached sample showing, North, South, East, West, NE, SE, SW, NW. (every 45degree increment). The easiest is to use a protractor to draw the outline. You do not have to worry if the living room or dining room is `L-shaped'. By dividing as shown in the attachment, it will fit in different sectors. Under the compass school of Feng Shui: Eight House and Flying Star, you need to determine the direction of the main entrance door. Here, it is meas…

Dear Anon, 1. If you can, try to close the window with the day curtain. 2. Often, some people, hang an open scissors at the window grille (symbolic) of `cutting-open' it or not caged. 3. If both your house and the neigbhour's house is in close proximity, then for the moment, it is still better to: 3.1 First choice hang a convex ba gua mirror facing the `threat'. 3.2 An alternative is to hang a mirror but often this mirror should be rectangular 8inch by 8 inch mirror. Until the neighbour remove the scissors, then it is best to protect your home. (No choice!) Warmest Regards, Cecil

These are some considerations:- 1) Must the safe box place in a particlular position or direction ? - It would be "Nice-to" have it placed at an auspicious mountain star e.g. Mountain star #8 or #1 location. 2) Must the safe be hidden in the wardrobe or must be cover up (In term of Feng Shui view) - Commonsense and not Feng Shui 3) Is the safe box consider Metal Element? So is it cannot place near window or toilet? - Whether it is metal element or not : it has no direct association with say a toilet or window. - Commonsense says that it is not advisable to place it near or next to a window. Especially if there are young ones at home. Else if house has no grille(s) or eve…

Dear Desmond, Desmond Lee wrote: Hi, i'm new to FengShui and currently trying to pick up as much as i can. Dear Anon, In general, if an HDB precint has majority either North or South facing apartments, then if particuarly the male breadwinner is a West group person, may consider looking at especially if it is a Flying Star Period 8 South 2 and 3 apartments where there is particularly a double #8's at it's facing direction. If the apartment is a Period 8, South 1, then check that if possible the living room is at say North or the back of the apartment. A west group person can still benefit greatly from a South "facing" apartment. Frankly, usually changing the facing direction of a door has more to do with "PACIFYING" one's concern than effectively changing the qi. There …

yap,ok..now i understand more of the 'white fengshui'. but i still have some things that i dont really understand about hyatt. 1. i notice that the ceiling at the lobby of hyatt hotel lobby is of many 'pyramid' shape, is it design in such a way that it is 'fengshuied'?any reason for being in that shape? 2. there are a few circular items in the hotel lobby like the spiral staircase, the flower pot in the middle of the lobby, the siting area which is infront of the staircase. are all these consider as 'metal' elements?(because you had mentioned before that hyatt is using the combination of 3 elements.) 3.i also noticed that the whole lobby area is actually with timber strip…
