1. Frankly, you must have a misconception of a Ba Gua (Pakua) mirror. 2. Do you really know what actually the ba gua mirror is (are) used for? 3. Traditionally, for the Chinese it is used under two main reasons : 3.1. Ba Gua mirrors with the 8 trigram markings on the outside with or without mirror is meant to scare away "evil spirits". There are many variants including those with the twin door gods, and all types of mirror or non-mirror in the middle of this ba gua. 3.2. To deflect sha qi or poison arrow. And the concave one is to "replace" the missing corner.

Dear Rebeca, There are a few considerations for a fish tank:- 1. Currently there are two methods at looking at the number of fishes to `rear'. Method 1: ======== The most common method is based on general good numbers of fish i.e. fishes should be numbering e.g. 5, 6, 8. (9 is still acceptable). Method 2: ======== The other method is based on your kua number ie. if your kua is Li or South, you should rear 9 fishes. If your Kua number is Kan (North), you should rear 1 fish, if your Kua number is Chen or East, then you should rear 3 fishes. Ideally, this is based on the breadwinner's Kua number 2. A good guideline is to take note of the colour of the stand you are using. Fo…

Dear Shelley, Thanks for bringing up this interesting question. A while back I mentioned that originally, Feng Shui is used at a macro level. At the micro level, we still look at the homes. But for the homes, it is more generalised Feng Shui. For example, in the past, we do not content with sleeping on a metal bed nor a water bed. We simply sleep on wooden beds because wood is easier to find and make use of. In a wider extent, symbols do play a part in ancient homes which are decorated with wooden panels or wooden carvings. Even the wooden Chinese antique furnitures have inlaid mother-of-pearls e.g. of leaves, flowers, fishes etc... This is not so much of Feng Shui but cu…

Dear Saywew, With regards to the type of plants or trees: 1. In a NASA study, it was found that plants are good / effective. 2. As a general rule, you can plant any plants and ideally, the plant should continue to grow. If so, this is considered auspicious. At the front of the house, you should not however plant trees that can ultimately grow very huge as huge trees are not ideal for the front of the house especially since they will eventually block the Qi into the house. In many situations, one should avoid planting a single large tree on the front compound as this will create a very yin location. A conducive environment for Yin elements. Especially if the tree `expands'…

Dear "UnKnown", 1. Usually, the placement of a water positions at certain locations, need further analysis (if possible). 2. Placing a water position can be analysed under: 2.1 Is there a poison arrow? As mentioned in previous messages, Hong Kong Feng Shui practitioners have a `habit' of advising their clients to place a fish tank e.g. at a window to counteract a poison arrow or Sha Qi of e.g. a lone lamp post. This is to neutralise the Sha Qi. 2.2 To `activate' water star or enhance Qi. Such as the use of fountains or water positions. Here, some Feng Shui practitioners either:- - Use their `feelings' to suggest a location. (Closer to the Shapes and Form School) - Others …

Please see attachment. This layout is preferred over the other one. As the bed is parallel to the bedroom walls. However, in a larger bedroom, your second alternative "slanting the bed" is practised by some Geomancers. Overall, do check that the toilet bowl particularly the piping is not sharing the same wall as your "face" when you sleep. There is a cause of concern of cancer in such a situation.

Dear Esther, Knocking the door The idea here is to seek the "spirits" permission to enter the home. But, frankly, not many people does this sort of thing. In fact, it is better not to do so, based on symbolism. Knocking could alternatively seem to "knock" away one's luck even before entering the home. Well, I hope, that by now, you should have a good idea of what to do. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Yes, in my opinion, since there is a really defined RECTANGLE or SQUAREISH outline; The bedroom therefore sticks out like a sore-thumb. This is truly a classic case of "Ifanyone does not see it as a PROTUSION"; but rather think that there are missing corners; please take out a gun and shoot yourself in the feet. (You deserve it)

Frankly this is pretty common, and it depends. In Singapore many estates have such a situation e.g. Siglap hill area, Hume Avenue, Yio Chu Kang, River Valley, Dunearn Road, Holland Rd areas. In fact, just about anywhere. Thus, many factors including how the home was built. In general, you are quite correct to say that earth luck (or poor luck) is usually strongest at the ground level.

How is our Auspicious Dates Analysed? Please be advised that our Auspicious Dates are choosen based on the following factors:- Key Alamac influence - is considered (ie whether day clashes / harms / punishes with the current year). Note: This isn't the most important influence as this only denotes a generate day's influence. ie even if the day itself is good or bad it does not mean that everyone on this planet will enjoy the same auspicious or inauspicious influence. ie tung shu/alamac day is inauspicious Wood Rat day, but if the person is Strong Water person, this day benefit that person a lot more. Suitability to Ba Zi - Whether the day is suitable to the ba zi is v…

Normally, 6 ancient coins are used to `exhaust' a bad Five Earth element or to destroy the Wood. I can quite understand the Five coloured beads as these usually represent the Five elements. As for a small bell and the Five Chinese coins (minus the tassel - which is considered `insignificant'), I cannot really comment on these other than if one considers the number 5. Here, I believe, it is more a decorative piece to symbolise the number 5 rather than to represent 5 " Metal ". As a general guideline, if one do not know what to do with it, then avoid hanging it. As the saying goes better safe than sorry. Warmest Regards, Ceci Lee

I have considered those factors as wel: Well, the number of steps seems to be good - It's 10 steps, then LANDING, another 10 steps again, then 2nd floor. There are no open spaces between the stairs. There is no toilet and bathroom underneath the stairs The direction of the stairs is not facing the main door and not facing the toilet. The staircase is facing a wall.

Dear Tien Sze Thank you for attaching a sketch of your room. Please see below:- It is best to avoid placing wind chimes at sectors that are considered `too yin'. In Flying Star, its numerology can share light to whether it is yin at certain sectors. The two most problematic sectors are: North-East (Devils gate) and South-West (Devil's back door). Where possible try to avoid (be careful) it at these two sectors and also at West. 1. Feng Shui is about priority and sensibility (commonsense). 2. I am sad to say that, recently, some people who called me enquiring on Feng Shui audit asked me whether, I would recommend placement of beds at `weird' or odd locations. …

1. You can find out the significance of what GREEN or rather what "wood" element is from this url:- http://talk.geomancy.net 2. Wood is represented by :- 2.1. Colours: Colours range from Brown to wood or wood tone colours AND GREEN colour. 2.2. Usually, under Flying Star Feng Shui for practical reasons, if a sector has bad #3 (bad wood) then it is often best to avoid the COLOUR GREEN. As we all know how to avoid brown or wood or wood tone... literally many natural furnitures - non laminated especially cabinets and even parquet floors or laminated floors are wood or woody or wood tone colour. 2.3. Under the Five Elements Concept:- 2.3.1 Wood element is also conside…

Dear Maria, The main thing to remember is that if the house is already (for example, a period 7 house i.e. 1984 to 2003), it does not matter if renovation works is carried out, last year or next year as it will still have the Period 7 influence. In my opinion, there are many varied interpretations of what constitutes a missing corner. Some examples are: 1. You can apply the 33.3 percent ruleset where if a renovation is major only if it is equal or greater than say 33.3 percent of the floor area of the entire house interior. For example, if your house has a floor area of 1,000 sq. feet, then if there is a renovation that is equal or greater than 333 sq feet, can be consid…

Hi, Please read below:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/music.htm However, I personally feel that certain music are soothing to a person, and this does help a person relax. In Singapore, for example, in certain Chinese bookstore, eg. The Commercial Press located at Victoria Street, have a small collection of music which was packaged for Feng Shui and Yin / Yang Music. Some of these are quite interesting. There is one for relief of constipation, headache, overweight, stress etc. For those who are in Singapore, you can find such music available in stores, even in Popular Bookstore at Bras Basah Rd. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Hi Robert I understand that my wealth element is wood. So, does it help if I have some small potted plants in my working place? What other advice would you give? My house is also painted green (majority) as advised by Cecil as this colour and blueareconsidered in harmony with all the members of my family, i.e. strong earth dragon, strong metal rabbit, weak water pig and weak wood monkey. Does this (painting) help in my wealth luck? Cecil also advised that it's better for us to fly to Period 8 East 2/3 facing. We have repainted our house and also invited the lion dance to perform at our house during the Chinese New Year. While our main entrance is located at the Northwes…

What if the areas I have in mind are all pernicious areas, that function as: living, dining and work space? I thought since all fall in my disaster, death and spook area, I might need to insert some yang. Or am I going in the opposite direction?

Kind regards Scott

Hi, I guess there would be an effect from these features especially in the construction of the `bulding' and the elements that go into them e.g. metal wheel etc... 1. Most of the time, these objects are far away from city areas or homes. 2. So far, I cannot recall any books on such features in Chinese books or no reference on them. For now, I am unable to comment on this subject matter. Perhaps, if I do come across any or users who are Dutch may like to share their experiences. Warmest Regards, Cecil

1. You can check out this link as to how others may apply their ba zi analysis. And how some maydiffer from this site:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=2&mid=23906&new= As far as we are concerned, we have adopted the best and consistent practises. Even some sites, got it wrong earlier... have revised and followed our methods. 2. I would like to inquire if anyone knows specifically which career element do Retail (Supermarket/Grocery/other Retails chains) falls in? Generally as I am thinking of venturing into the retail line, but unsure of which category to go into (fashion / food / non-food like hardware / cars? ). You can view the…

Dear Master Cecil, Happy Chinese New Year to you. I miss the drumming and lion dance since leaving Singapore 20yrs ago, its quiet here with giant kangaroos dancing instead, and thawed imported expensive thai durians and HongKong fortune cookies from supermarket, never quite the same celebratory chi! I am amazed by the depth of fengshui ancient knowledge that I only recently felt guided to read u. And research books etc. maybe it is Master Lao Tzu that had been in my dreams trying to wake me up to the truth of our existence as the unnameable dancing TAO! Then I stumbled upon your impressive website and warms my heart to discover you are from Singapore! I am hoping if you c…

Dear Hansel, hansel tan wrote: hi there the size of my current pond is 9ft in lengnth X 4ft in wide X 2ft in deep i plan to dig deeper like about 5ft. can i have a shallow part and a deep part like there would be a part with 2ft and a part with 5ft ? The better size would be length 9ft , width 5ft and depth 2ft / 5ft. Should be no issue to have part of the pond in 2ft or 5ft. hansel tan wrote: my pond location is on the west facing rising sun. is that good? You will need to assess the flying star to see if that sector has the auspicious water stars to determine if it is really good or not under feng shui.
