Hi, The base number is based on the Luo Shu Grid, i.e. on the Magic Tortise Formula : http://www.geomancy.net/fs/tortise.htm where the base number in the centre is the Period number i.e. for Period 7, 1984 to 2003, the base number in the centre remains at 7 while the rest of the base numbers `move' in relation to this number to form a `sigma'. This sign is the same as that of the sigma of the Jews... For the course, I am trying to revise the course materials and hopefully it will start in two months time:) Warmest Regards, Cecil

DearJian Rong, It may not necessarily be true that all Period 7 homes should be converted to Period 8 to enjoy better qi. For example, if your home is a North 1 (337.5 to 352.4 degrees or 345 degrees, home; You have to study your layout before committing to changing to Period 8. For example, lets say your bedroom happens to be at the North-West sector of the home. Under Period 7; NW:- MS1 WS4 B8 = Auspicious stars in particular #1 = future prosperity with #8 current prosperity. Mountain star can be activated for relationship, family luck and networking luck But under Period 8; NW:- MS4 WS3 B9 = Relationship issues: quarrels and lawsuits. Overall stress for both hu…

1. Yes, I can truly understand your predicament. 2. As a 2D top view of the layout - truly extremely difficult to determine the facing. Especially since the main entrance area does not exactly "house the living room" and the living room has its own set of windows that face approx. NW. 3. Furthermore, the dining area seems to be another candidate. 4. Thus in my opinion, based soley on the 2D view alone, very difficult to determine the facing. 5. The best method is often for those who have stayed in such a home is to draw several flying star chart and check the history of the persons staying in your home. 6. Often professional practitioners, prefer to be onsite, and s…

Dear Ben, Please see below:- And it is more pratical to look out for poison arrows or sha qi that can `overcome' our home. After doing this, it would be acceptable. As for using quite a lot of "cross" normally, I personally feel that it is not really necessary. More importantly, the altar table is positioned at a strategic or good location and here you can place the necessary items on this table (can do). But nevertheless, if you and your family (don't mind) or feel pretty comforted by doing it; I think it is OK. It is best to understand or differentiate threats or `perceived threats'. The `rule-of-thumb or the question asked is: "Are we going to be `hit' b…

Dear November, Based strictly on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, it is a much better idea to have the screen partition at location marked `A' instead of at present location. This is to make the living room and dining room into a more rectangular shaped layout. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Alex, Alex Chua Kim Soon wrote: Master, Ive found a nice house for me and my wife. The thing is both of us is kua8. The house faces South West. But my master bedroom location is in south. My bed head also can only be placed on the direction of the south east (south east wall in the bedroom) becoz other sides all very inconvenient. What should i do? Alex Please help to advise Generally, the house is suitable to you facing to you. Though the room isn't the best sector. It isn't considered ultimately the most suitable house. Dear Anon, I just remembered another parallel example. Can we say that the instruction manuals for all cars / vehicle are the same? 1. Firstly there are automatic and manual (clutch driven cars). Can we then, read the instruction manual of an automatic car and then apply it to a manual (clutch driven car). Obviously not. 2. For those who have driven Japanese cars vs European / Continental (US) cars, there are differences in the wind screen wipers and indicators. 3. In my country where we drive (right handed), in a Japanese car, the wind screen wipers are controlled by our left hand. While the directional indicators are controlled by the right hand. This differs with an Eu…

Dear Waldo, As the saying goes, a little knowlege is a dangerous thing. When we follo=w an advice e.g. on say a Feng Shui procedure, follow the advice in total n=ot piecemeal i.e. a bit of this add to abit of that and then come to a conclusion. Here, if you follow the advice in total, and if you feel that something i=s " not right " feel free to ask the person giving the advice. This is a bett=er approach as if you need more information and if the party can be contacte=d, do check with him / her the rationale for doing it. -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'flying-star' suppressed suppressed> Date: Wednesday, February 03, 1999 10:37 PM Sub…

Dear Sophia, The Flying Star concept is very simple: 1. water stars, as the name suggests should be activated in clear space environment. While 2. mountain stars, is best activated in an enclosed environment or "blocked" by a mountain. However, when we talk of the above, we are "anticipating" or have a view that what we are trying to activate are good stars like for water stars: #1 and #8. While for mountain stars e.g. #8 and / or #9 etc... Therefore, for "bad stars" like #5 and #2; it will make sense to say that: bad water stars should be "locked" up while bad mountain stars should be open space or literally placed in a "hole" to drown it! Thus, what you had menti…

These are some of the considerations:- 1. Facing and Sitting directions 1.1. When applying the Flying Star Feng Shui; the first consideration are these two factors; in particular: the facing direction. 1.2. Thus, the most common approach under Flying Star is; firstly, find out what is the star at the "mouth" or = facing direction of a home. 1.3. Thus, in general; a home facing NE has the auspicious #1. This brings some auspiciousness. But as #1 is considered as the future (future) prosperity star; it is slower to realise for that year. 1.4. A home facing NW; would have the #8 at the frontage. 2. Thus, it especially depends on the facing direction. 3. Therefore, under the…

Dear Carolyn, In general, it is acceptable to place a water feature where there is a water star #8 (current prosperity) sector. Even if we want to place a water feature, it should also "look appropriate" at a location that is "functional" and not obstrusive to the interior decor. Without a picture or sketch, really cannot imagine the layout thus it can be on the right corner or within the sector - that's OK. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Should it be on the right corner of that affected sector, or anywhere inside that sector?

Dear Chris, Usually, the effect would be on the breadwinner. However, there are many other variables involved also. E.g. if both parties are working, if the partner's Ba Zhi (or the house) is not suited to the partner e.g. her death or disaster line. Hello friends, thinking about multi-storey buildings with many apartments, it becomes difficult to decide about facing and sitting directions. For example, if the plot of land is facing 120 degrees SE, it may have entrance at 210 degrees SW and then that entrance leads to a hallway/corridor. On both sides of hallway, there are apartments. So one row faces 210 degrees SW (most windows, balcony open to 30 N), other row faces 30 degrees N (most windows, balcony open to 210 SW), another row windows/balcony is 300 NW. Attaching a diagram herewith, please see -> This is a six storey building. What can be the facing direction of Apartmen…

Dear SF Choe, Quote: Renovations included relocating 3 toilets/bathrooms, tearing down and creating some walls in all 3 floors, and extended tha back of house further by 5ft (2 storeys high and additional new 5ft roof added). Completely newly replaced were water piping, all the flooring, ceiling and electrical wiring. All in, I would say about 80% of the house was renovated. In general, the tearing down and creation of walls is as good as a major renovation as the Qi flow within the house is affected. As such the house will be deemed as a Period 8 house. Hope that helps. Dear Nhan, 1. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui 1.1 More importantly, I personally feel that Shapes and Forms Feng Shui has a far higher weightage. 1.2 For a home, majority of the homes often have `clear' space at the centrepoint. 1.3 Even for many American homes, staircase is either at the centre or close to this sector. 2. Therefore, in my opinion, for a home, it is not very favourable to `lock-in' stars if this directly affects the flow of qi at the centrepoint or close-by to this. 3. And this may not be healthy for a home. 4. Contrast, this with an office. In an office, there is no harm to `lock-up' bad stars with say a storeroom. Since, in an office environment, air-con is …

Hi Anon, We get lots of such postings every other day. I must say it can sometimes be difficult to help each an everyone personally. Each home is unique and unless a full review is done to identify what's going on, it can be anyone's guess what are the leaks in the home that is causing your problem. Without knowing what is the leaks involved it is anyone's guess what you need to do to correct it. It is easy to say try to do this and that, but unforunately that is not how true feng shui works. You need to know what is the problem before you can correct it. That is why most general advise that tells you that south-west is romance sector so you must place 99 roses to get …

This house has a huge water position i.e. a large pond that occupies a large area of the frontage of a South facing house. For a South facing house, and depending on Flying Stars; it is not ideal to place too large a water feature at the frontage. If so, either reduce the size of the water feature i.e. in this case pond or add lights "fire" to further balance the water position.
