Main Door Vs Main Gate
Dear Cassy, Cassy Yeo wrote: This apartment on level 4 has a main gate 45 degree away from the main door. The gate is facing East (30 degree)and the main door is North East (75 degree). I am confused and do not know should I take the gate or the door as the frontage? Usuallythe main gate should be taken as the facing direction in such cases. But there also may be special situations that the main door may be better. So all depends on the overall layout of the house. Hope that helps. Main door facing and bedroom facing
Robert Lee replied to myfs_114948's topic in 4 Good-Bad Directions/Eight House Suitability (Zai Yun)Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: We found an apartment with main door facing -South West which is our "Prosperity" facing. However ALL the bedrooms are inSouth East direction, which is our "Dealth" facing according to Eight House Theory. Anonymous wrote: Should we only focus on main door or the rooms direction is equally important when selecting the house? Ideally, the breadwinner should have a house that suits him and avoid the bedroom location to be death or disaster if that is possible. Having the bedroom facing death facing means the house does not entirely suit the breadwinner. If it is at least spook or irritation, at least not so bad. A good house should suit the breadwinner as well as have bedroom that is favourable for the various family members. Anonymous wrote: If we buy the house with " Dealth " bed room facing, are we able to rectify later? Unfortunately, suitability is one thing that you cannot correct once you obtain the house. That is why it is always important to select a home that fits right from the start. I mean it is not possible to find a perfect home, but at least the key issues such as external feng shui and suitability should be there. Flying Star issues can be improve later on. Hope that helps. Flying Star 8
Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I understand that flying star 8(be it a mountain star or water star), it is considered auspicious star in period 8. Would like to know, in period 9, whether flying star 8 remains as good star or otherwise. Shall I conclude that flying star 8 remains as a good star in any periods. The same star number found as the reigning period will always be the current prosperity. ie. Period 8 Fading Prosperity = star 7 Current Prosperity = star 8 Future Prosperity = star 9 ie. Period 9 Fading Prosperity = star 8 Current Prosperity = star 9 Future Prosperity = star 1 So the answer to your question is that your star 8 will be fading prosperity when it comes to period 9. Stars will change in auspiciousness depending on the current period. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I am a weak water according to my ba zi. I have resigned from my previous job (Draughting)since 2002. Now my baby (strong water)is 2 years old,& would like to go back to the work force. I have interest in working in major bookstores but lack in confidence. What would be advisable for my weak water element? Basically, as a weak water, your baby a Strong Water will actually be beneficial for you as it helps to make you stronger. While you balance her excess water. Under the ba zi, a weak water person would best have Metal or Water career. So you might want to consider the following careers under the Metal or Water element:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/talknotes/talknotes.htm Hope that helps. Buying a house built in Period 7 or 8?
Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: We're are in the process of looking for another house. If we want to look for a house facing South, is it necessary to look for new houses i.e. build in the new period after 2004 or can we just buy a second hand house that's build in period 7 but facing south? Is there any difference buying a period 7 house and period 8 house? I feel that as long as we get a suitable house facing south, that would suffice. Would appreciate your early reply. Ideally, since we are already in a period 8 influence. It will make more sense to purchase a house that is built in period 8. This will avoid the need to worry about whether or not you need to fly a period 7 house to period 8 or retain it. The advantage of a house built in period 8 is that it already adjusted the luck to a period 8 house chart. As such you main focus is to activate the auspicious star 8 and 9.A period 7 house because it is now in a period 8 influence, will slowly lose its wealth feature as time go by. Thus, ideally if you can convert it to a period 8 influence, you will be able to continue to enjoy further luck as a period 8 house. The disadvantage of owning a period 7 house now is that if the existing period 7 house luck is better than period 8, then you face the worry of trying not to accidentially fly the house luck to period 8 else you will lose the existing luck. In either case, both period 7 and period 8 houses each have their better facing direction. Period 7 houses tend to be auspicious facing North and South, while Period 8 is now North-East, South-West facing. But again you also have to check against the suitability of the house and ofter factors to determine if the house is ideal. Hope that helps. Shape of new house to be built
Dear CindyLu, CindyLu Who wrote: Hello, I must compliment you on a wonderful site. My husband & I will be building a house within the next year. He has made a sketch of the house but it is not a full square shape. It has corners missing and I'm afraid this may not be good feng shui. There isn't going to be a single book that can tell you everything that you should look our for when you build a house. A home is unique and different depending on the location. However, if you at least read through the basic fun with feng shui course we have on our website, it should give you some ideal what to avoid. URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-tour.htm However, it is always advisable to make sure you build a house without any missing corners. Missing corners are always considered inauspicious. House Facing
Dear Kalvin, Kalvin Toh wrote: I am confuse with the facing of the house. I am presently living on the 13 floor, where should i stand with the compass to know which direction is my maindoor facing? As different floors have difference in the facing... Since you stay on 13th floor, this means you should take the facing direction based on your living room/balcony, since that is where most light and Qi enters into the home. Apartments that are on 8th level and higher is always said to posses virtual water from your living room/balcony direction. As your view is unobstructed. Weak metal calculation
Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: So, in calculating birth element and determining favorable elements, should the birth location (Singapore in my case) be also taken into consideration? Five element should be considered under these two scenario:- 1. as a Weak Metal, it means that you generally lack Earth and Metal, thus you are weak. Water and Fire are generally unfavourable for you because they make you weaker. While Wood is your wealth but as a weak metal you are not effectively able to control it. Thus, wood is also not very favourable for you unless you have more Earth and Metal to make you strong. This is always the basic level of application of the five element. 2. A more detailed or to fine tune your element would be to make use of the balance of five element. A person ideally should have exactly 20% of each of each of your five element. This is where you can get say 10% of Earth, 20% of Metal etc. The elements you have the least in terms of your ba zi is the element you need more. For example if you are a weak Metal, and you have 10% Earth and 20% Metal, it means you need to have more Earth then compared to Metal. Same goes for the other unfavourable element. There will be one element you have too much of and thus that should be the element you should avoid most. 3. I personally do not believe in altering the existing ba zi analysis to suit a location as these are never considered in most major ba zi analysis. Also, it also do mean that you entirely break the essences of how the five element balances and seasons of the birth based on the original ba zi principles. That would be like saying that everyone born in Singapore must have water element? Hope helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research.

Coffee shop layout..
Dear Sophia, Sophia Chia wrote: I have a question which I can't find in your forum regarding reading the layout of the coffeeshop (restaurant). How do I check which direction of the store in acoffeeshop. Should I take the store direction facing at the main entrance of the coffee shop or at the entrance of the coffee shop facing the main road. Another option I may take his husband direction. Am I right.!!As a friend ofmy daughter (their family)whom I known some years ago. They told metheirbusiness is getting worse (previouslystore another estate no business after5 years and presently this store less thana year). From what Itold them it could bethe store logo and the element of his husband. Please advice me here. For any shop front, you take the facing direction where most customers enter in and out of the shop. This applies to all Shop which have a Shop Front. There can be many issues that might be causes. For resturants / coffeeshop usually, it is the food that will ultimately be the determining factor whether people will come to shop or not. That will ultimately be the drawing point. Unless, the shop is located in an inaccessible area there usually should be no problem getting people to go to the place if the food is good. Even better if the place is nice, clean and air-conditioned. Another issue, could be not everyone is suitable to run their own business. Some people have the so call businessman type of chart, while others are better off working for others.Or simply,he could be enteringin a bad luck period sowhatever hedoes things just don't go well for him. Usually, these are the common causes. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards RobertLee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

fengshui on house or home
Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My HDB unit's main door faces North East and it also directly faces my living room windows which are from ceilling to floor.Friends told us that these facings are bad. There are many factors to look at before one can even comment on whether the house is good or bad. ie External Shapes and Form - whether any external building across your home cuts into your home, the Qi flow for your block etc. ie Flying Star of the house - you need to know what is the direction of the home to actually determine how is the house luck. ie. Suitability to the home (eight house & ba zi) - you need to know if the owner and rest of the family member suits the house so as to enjoy the max amount of luck from the home itself. So it hard to comment on whether your home fits each of the above, unless you review it. Only then will one be able to access if there are major or minor influence affecting the house. Then you know if the house will be classifed good or bad. Some homes have minor leaks that are correctable, so not as bad. But some have major leaks or very unsutiable homes, then that will be harder to correct. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

9 koi fish oil painting
Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I have hung an oil painting of 9 koi fishes in our living room. The fishes look active and very alive, except that the background, supposed to be water, is more to the greenish colour. Is this considered inauspicious? It is always hard to comment something which we cannot see. However, most pond water tends to be greenish especially when painted at certain time of the day. Also, if the pond is very deep, the colour of the water (though blue), may seems dark greenish. I guess, there shouldn't be an issue as it is probably the painter trying to make it as realistic as possible. More important is usually the koi fishes. As long as they are fairly active and nice body size (ie not too fat or not to skinny), then should be ok. Hope that helps. Selling of house
Dear Sophia, Sophia Chia wrote: I come across from one of the articles if we will to sell the house we can check the ba zi the auspicous time for the buyer to have a look of the house. There is very little feng shui aspect that you can do to improve the sale of the house. Like you mentioned, the best would be to check out the best ba zi day or time, which might boost your overall luck. But ultimately, whether a potential buyer even notices that you have a house for sale depends on your real-estate agent's ability to get people to notice your unit is for sale. Ultimately, your location, priceof your home, how clean it looks etc. All these will be the determining factor for whether a buyer even considers to buy the place. Nothing else can really help you otherwise. There is no such quick fix to enable you to sell your home. Hope that helps. Strong Metal wife weak water
Dear Kalvin, Kalvin Toh wrote: I need some help as i am chosing the paint for my new house, i am a strong metal and wife is weak water. Now I am choosing a paint for my flat and didn't know what colour to choose from. Can anyone help? Water would be your most favourable binding element. Strong metal likes Water to exhaust the excess Metal, while weak water needs more Metal and Water to make it stronger. So any light shades of blue/black/gray (Water element) would be an element favourable to both. A little Wood element shades (Green/Brown) and Metal (white/gold) together with Water element will be good. This is because Water element makes both of you strong, while Wood will then create wealth for yourself and help balance out any excessive Water element. In a bedroom, it is best to use a series of element ie Metal -

Need Advise
Dear Karen, Chong Karen wrote: Recently I just read a article about the feng shui which published in Xin Ming Ri Bao dated 25.07.2005. It talk about the best facing house for period 8 is falling on North-East. North-East have 3 different position that is Face Chou (22.5) Sit on Mo (202.51), Face Gen (52.5) sit on Kun (232.5)and face Yin (67.5)sit on sheng (247.5). According the article he say For period 8 only Face the Chou (22.5) will be the best andthe others 2 is unluky. It is true? If I am not wrong this analysis is just based on the Flying Star. So it will be based on the best possible house luck for the period 8. You also have to consider the suitability which will also ultimately determine if the house will eventually benefit you. But you should always remember that flying star analysis is just one aspect of feng shui, you must always consider other factors influencing the house such as the external feng shui as well as suitability. The reason is say that North-East facing is good flying star, but if it is death or disaster to the breadwinner, then it may not be as good as another direction which has less flying star house luck but suitable ie Prosperity or with a better enternal feng shui. So you need to really look at all aspects. It is never advisable to just take a generally advise and expect it to work for everyone. Chong Karen wrote: If true, how to find the actual reading for main door facing? Is stand in middle of house or outside the house. By using compass or Lou Pan which is more accurate? We have came up with some definition for how to obtain the facing direction of the house:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm By default, you first determine your home:- a. If landed property, take the facing of the house itself as your frontage. b. If apartments (2nd - 7th level), take the main door direction facing. c. If apartments (8th level), take the living room/balcony facing. Hope that helps. Warmest regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Main door facing and the type of house
Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My facing is actually N1 but the main door is in the sector SW under flying star. Under period 8 it is star 5, f9, s7. Anonymous wrote: 5,9,7 is this a good combination? The combination is such at instead of enhancing the future prosperity star. This star influence is being converted to activate the inauspicious stars stronger. As such, it is considered overall inauspicious sector. Water and Wood element essential to help convert influence to something favourable by activating the future prosperity star. Hope that helps. Death Sector under eight house as master bedroom
Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I'm a gua 7 that makes the east a death sector. However star 6 is metal, 1 is water, and under bazi I'm strong fire. Is it as bad for me? Death sector is the worst of the 4 bad direction under the eight house. The East sector of the house is Wood element. as a Strong Fire, wood only makes you stronger, thus is considered again a unfavourable suitability. So it means that you are entirely not suited for any bedroom or facing direction of a house that is East. The flying star of the bedroom isn't too bad. However, as long as your bedroom is unsuitable, no matter how good the luck of the room, you will simply not be able to benefit from it. Anonymous wrote: With the house as period 8, Facing N1, my master bedroom which is in the east sector now have the number 6, f-1,s-6 which makes it 166. Is this good? With a Gua 7 person, North facing house is Disaster for you. With a unsuitable house Diaster and Death sector bedroom, no matter how good the house luck, you will not be able to benefit from the house as it you just don't suit the house. So in the long run, you should seriously consider to move out to a better home so that you can enjoy a quantum leap in feng shui. The flying star sector isn't that bad. So house luck probably still ok. But once you don't suit the house, no matter how good the flying star, you will only be able to enjoy say 25% of the entire house luck. That is why suitability to a house is very important. Suitability is unfortunately one area you cannot simply correct. Enhancing the house luck can probably help you maximise the remainder of the 25% suitability that you can enjoy. Hope that helps. Metal may make you overly strong so the overall is considered favourable because it consist of Fire - A Strong Water will benefit from this career, but a weak water person will not. Weak or strong fire
Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I was told by a few people that I'm a weak fire according to my bazi. Since my birth month is April which is Febuary in the chinese lunar calendar which they say is spring which is after winter and weaken my fire. Fromyour bazi analysis I was deduced as a Strong fire, but I thought the bazi analysis of my birth month is supposed to take into consideration of the season already. Please help identify my elements. I don't know how detailed your analysis was done. However, I can tell you are strong simply because:- Element Strength Percentage 1 Water Weak 7 % 2 Wood Strongest 26 % 4 Fire Strong 42 % 1 Earth Extremely Weak 2 % 4 Metal Weakest 21 % There are many factors that will influence whether you are weak or strong. In your chart, you also have several combinations or joins which convert your original element to having more Wood and Fire. In addition, your season of birth is just at the start of the Spring, which means that earth is always extremely weak between the transition of seasons. This means that your Fire is Strongest. and Wood Strong. Favourable elements -26% Wood and 24% Fire (Total: 50%) Unfavourable elements - 21%Metal and 7% Water (Total: 30%) Earth cannot be taken into consideration because it both exhaust Fire as well as destroy Water and strengthen Metal. As such, becomes a double edge element that shouldn't be conidered either in Favourable or Unfavourable. Since you have more favourable elements, you arenaturally considereda Strong Fire. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
