  1. One piece mirror is fine! Two-piece mirror? Three-piece mirror? Look at the illustrations.. for a CLUE! Is this commonsense approach to Feng Shui?
  2. This hotel employs a full time CFO in-charge of Feng Shui. And in this meeting, the CEO of the company asked her a question..... GOOD or BAD?
  3. Dear Louise, 1. In a duplex home, it is still best to also look at the Shapes and Forms of your house in relation to the landscape and site of the house. 2. For a duplex house, you can still find the centrepoint of your duplex unit. And from there, look at it in relationship with compass direction found in each of the rooms. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Anon, To better understand your house, is it possible to provide a sketch. Or more description. For the toilet, it is best to have it away from the main entrance; centrepoint of the house. Wherever possible, locate it such that it shares an external wall. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Magdalene, Can you confirm whether, the powder room has water position. If not, in my opinion, it is secondary or non-issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Hi Robert and Cecil, "Your course is excellent! Although i knew most of the material from previous readings, you made a lot of things a lot clear to me, thanks to the good illustrations, namely the good and bad water positions. In this case, a ?picture tells it all?." Paulo Mendes
  7. Dear All, 1. In this installment, you will find another "butterfly" building shape with a different layout plan. 2. This layout is inauspicious because:- 2.1 The toilet is close to the centre-point of the house. 2.2 Major poison arrows within the house:- - In the illustration, you will find a poison arrow or the corner of bathroom TWO (2) aimed at the living room. This is inauspicious as it creates disharmony of the family members staying in the house. - In the illustration, you will also find that if the kitche door is opened, there is another poison arrow aimed at the dinning room area. Here, this is not so bad as the dining table can be shifted. However, it is not practical to close the kitchen door all the time. (But closing it will be able to neutralise this poison arrow). 3. Overall, if you can, avoid buying this type of layout plan as mentioned in the earlier posting: 3.1 Butterflys do not live long. 3.2 Because of this layout plan with major missing corners and toilet close to the centrepoint; the characteristics of this house is -- owners will be plagued with financial problems. Safest bet is -- unsure, not buy this type of layout. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Enclosed please find in MS word format, a typical Hokkien Wedding Custom. For the modern Hokkien some of the practises are not practised today. However, the essence of the custom has been recorded for information. If you find some of the customs appropriate for you, do apply them! In the word document, there is reference of the " double happiness " Chinese wedding symbol. You can find out more of this symbol here:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?img=0&search=happiness&cat=all&bool=and&x=13&y=15 Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Anon, In your case, frankly, I would advise you to take up option 2. As you have correctly mentioned, Option 1, especially with the railway line running diagonally behind the office is unfavourable. Option 3 - does not have back support and also not good if one cannot see the door. Overall, do give priority to Shapes and Form Feng Shui - which is Option 2. This is more important than facing your favourable direction. Thus, it is strongly recommended to go for Option 2. You can still consider option 1, but make sure that it is screened out e.g. using blinds. What one cannot see, will no longer remain a threat. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Magdalene, 1. Flying Star Feng Shui For your house that was built in 1917, check to see if there are any major renovations done after 1917. If there are major renovations done, then refer to this table:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-calendar.htm Under the above link you can find the various Chinese calendar periods e.g. Period 5 house? From 1944 to 1963 or Period 6 house? From 1964 to 1983 or Period 7 house? From 1984 to 2003 Thus for example, there was a major renovation done after 1917 and in the Year 1967, then the house birth chart has moved to what is called a Period 6 house. With this information, if you want to do a Flying Star Feng Shui you need to know the birth chart of your house. And at the same time, you need to find out how to take a compass reading with an ordinary compass from the centrepoint of the house to the main door. An illustration on how to take the compass reading is as shown below:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm 2. Birth dates With your birth dates, you can, if you want to use it to generate reports:- 2.1 Eight House Report Questions like how suitable your house is to you/family members. Which room is most favourable or which direction is best. 2.2 Individual Ba Zi Find out what is one's element e.g. Fire, Water etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Anon, Thank you for sketching the illustration. If one is using an ordinary compass, then this is the wrong way to use it: 1. Avoid placing the compass on the floor as the compass may skew or deviate. 2. The illustration, to find the centrepoint of the house is not correct. Please review this illustration:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm 3. You need to take the compass direction of the main door from the centrepoint of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Yang Ming, 1. Usually, in a small island like Singapore where one is surrounded by the sea on every side. 2. Depending on your location, due to way the sun heats up the land mass (it gets hotter) than the sea) and due to high and low pressures, sometimes, air from land mass moves out to the sea and vice-versa. 3. Because of this, air-catchment may come in from one or the other side of the house. 4. However, if one closes a row of windows or the main door, air cannot funnel inwards from one side of the window to the other side. 5. If air frequently comes in from only one area of the house, and if it is a new house, it could imply that the air is scooped up e.g. from the profile of the builing and into this area. In fact, it would be nice if this is the "opposite" so that air comes in from either the main door or the windows at the frontage. As shown in the attached illustration. Overall, the main concern is if one hangs too many clothings to dry or place e.g. mops etc or cleaning utensils at the service balcony. Especially since, air flows from this location into the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. 1. In this layout plan, there is a `close-call' towards nature's call. 2. This layout is not-as-auspicious since the toilet bowls of the shared toilet and master bedroom are close to the centre-point of the house. 3. Owner will not be able to `retain cash'. And finance is always up and down with little savings left - at the end of the day. 4. If specific windows are opened in the living room; there is a direct path or sha qi from the main door to the balcony or living room window. This is `curable'. But secondary to the `toilet bowl' issue. Suggestion: If CAN, AVOID buying this unit.
  14. Dear All, In this illustration, if one can, avoid buying units or even houses where the toilet(s) are either NEXT to the main entrance and/or at the centrepoint of the house. This spells -- Financial problems. Please see attached illustration. Recommendation: DON'T BUY! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear All, 1. You may ask the question: Say again? What you mean by " THE BUTTERFLY? " 2. In this example, I share with you an inauspicious layout plan known as " The Butterfly ". 3. For the Chinese, The Butterfly signifies ' short-life '. Here, it is important to know that a butterfly does not live long. 4. Thus, a butterfly shape is indeed an inauspicious Feng Shui building shape. As it's significance, short-life is really not good. What we care for is long life. 5. There is another reason for this. Many of the layout plans in a butterfly layout design does not fully utilise space. 6. Enclosed please find the attachment where one can clearly see what a butterfly shaped building looked like. 7. And you also get to see a sample layout. In the sample layout, you will notice that the toilets are inauspicious sectors. Please see attached illustrations. 8. In a future installment, I will append to this message another `butterfly layout' which is equally worse-off! In this particular layout, poison arrows are aimed at the living and dining room. And the toilet is also at the centre-point of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Lee, 1. Thank you for your effort in scanning and providing the relevant details. 2. It is thru, the proper details provided e.g. scanned image that makes it easy for me to provide the relevant advise. 3. As for the significance of either `protusions' or `missing corners' please refer to this URL:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-building.htm 4. The ruleset here is that a `protusion' or `missing corner' is one where a sector has either a protrusion or missing corner equal to or exceeding 33.3 percent of the area of that particular sector. 5. Thus a sector is defined as: based on the layout plan, equally divide the floor plan into 9 equal sectors. 6. If any ONE of the sector has either 33.3 percent protusion or missing corner - this is considered a major protusion or missing corner. Thus will fall under the signficiance as mentioned under the above URL. Otherwise, consider it as a MINOR protrusion or missing corner and no major signficance. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  18. Note: The full edited Case Study is found here:- http://sg.geomancy.net/about/location-mainpage/location-mainpage.htm Dear All, 1. This is a mini tour of Geomancy.Net's office location. 2. Why is the location chosen? Geomancy.net is located in a low-lying, basin location. In Singapore, this location called `Yio Chu Kang' is particularly auspicious. One Feng Shui Master even mentioned that it is Singapore's "Only Feng Shui cricket' land that is active and wields great supernatural power." Overall, this location is considered very auspicious. 3. This is the first paranomic picture from the inside of Geomancy.net looking outwards. 4. In the paranomic picture, you can have a glimse that Geomancy.net is located on a ground floor level. Where there is a side gate (by looking at the left side of the picture). 5. Overall, in line with the author's personal expectation; this office has a double 7 main entrance. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Will, 1. The main consideration of a house is that it should not have a large `mouth'. 2. From what I can understand from your description that your house has two main entrance. It is best to (as you have mentioned) try to use one entrance. This is because, too many openings at the frontage is not advantages. For example, if a house has sliding doors at the frontage instead of e.g. a pair of doors, and if the ratio of main door is pretty large in relation to the frontage, it can lead to e.g. females in the house becoming lonely or those who aer unmarried in a house, remain single. You can make use of the Eight House Theory to see which door is more favourable to you. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Yang Ming, 1. The most common cure for concrete beams is the use of a pair of bamboo flutes. You can view a picture illustration under the reference link below:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?img=0&search=flute&cat=all&bool=phrase&x=7&y=12 (Simply click on the thumb-nail view for a larger view). 2. If one places a pair of flute on a beam, it can be placed on either side or one of the other side of the beam i.e. one pair of bamboo flute will do. This is onl for info: The only other option is the use of `false partition'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Yumeko, 1. Usually, it is advisable not to do anything prior to the `symbolic move'. 2. However, the customs differ greatly. And some may:- 2.1 Sprinkle rice and/or salt. 2.2 Some bring in a pair of mandarin oranges (where the oranges represent gold). Frankly, majority simply go in and open the door when one get's the key. As mentioned, if one wants to do a `ritual' or first time opening of the door, one can do nothing or any of the above or more. In my opinion besides rice and/or salt; there are too many variations e.g. placement of Red Packets (ang pow); purchase of `Huat Quay' Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mary, You should normally use the unit door i.e. your main door and not the main security door. However, if you have a layout plan either in the following format:- 1. Scanned in one of the popular graphic format e.g. .gif .bmp .jpg etc.. 2. Fax it to: 065 - 6482-0570 (Remember to quote your e-mail address for a return reply via e-mail). We will be most happy to help you or anyone locate the centre-point to your main door. If you are sending it by fax, make sure that you quote your e-mail address as we normally scan and e-mail the information to you. Warmest Regards, Cecil
