Dear Tanja, In my opinion, the best trouble-shoot is to apply Flying Star Feng Shui. Most likely certain sectors of your home is affected by one or a combination of any of these "sickness" stars:- #5 misfortune /sickness #2 sickness and often "severe" health issues could be attributed to the addition of #9 to any one or both or a combination of these stars e.g. #5 with #5 with #9 = very, very bad health issues #5 with #9 = equally very, very bad health issues and the severity of health issues can come from any combinations or singular #5, #2 and or #9. In particulars watch out for these stars particularly in any bedrooms and/or frontage of the home or living room areas. Given that you have a constrain, here i.e. delay if renovations do not start, then, for practical reasons, you may carry out your renovations. If one stands in-side the home looking outwards, is there any lamp post, or a tree trunk facing the mainentrance or windows of the home. 2. Where possible, the plot of land is rectangular/squarish in shape. 3. Sewerage pipes / conduits running into the home 4. Drainage locations. Ideally should not cut into the side of the home etc.. Overall, inmany instances of a`T` junction senario, often, cars should be seen as moving towards the home. And when it does, vulnerable parts of the home e.g. the main door or windows are at the "receiving" end of this sha qi. If say your plot of land is seen as at a `T` junction; but if the home that was built on this plot of land is away from this `T' junction in particular the main door e.g. is on the side of the home or windows not directly facing the `T' junction, then the developer/designer/owner had made a good job of building the home negating this `T' junction. It's the blackhole effect. What happens is that if we purchase such products, our pocket(s) will have a huge deep dark hole. And mostly, the seller benefits from this sale! For many Chinese, let's imagine or go back to our grand-parent's time or for many, our parents home. There are no such things prior to 1970's as Feng Shui crystals nor is it common place to find three-legged toads. In the past, it is widely common to find more popular stones such as jade and diamonds. But, things like blue gems is not particularly popular with the Chinese. Or had bought their dream-home prior to consulting which is their suitable directions etc... In order to apply Feng Shui, it is best to go more on a holistic approach. As there are many (many variables) not just "one-wrong" point and oops! We are done for! For example, in many instances, even if a home does not suit us but some homes may have "superior" external shapes and forms. Dear Anon, Frankly, there are many interpretations of kitchen in the "wrong" sector. Under Traditional Feng Shui, the major concern is the Kitchen and in particularly the stove at NW sector. NW is suppose to be the Heaven's gate. And under Traditional Feng Shui, it also reflects the head of the household. And when a stove is located at NW, then it is commonly called "fire-at-heaven's" gate. However, some modern Feng Shui practitioners call the SW sector the romance sector. I believe, this is what you are concerned with. As for SW = romance sector, this is usually not a key issue under Traditional Feng Shui practitioners. Even for gardening, there are many factors involved: 1. plot size 2. weather conditions: Tropics / Four Seasons 3. owner's preferences The type of trees /plants or shrubs would depend on the country we are all in. In Singapore, especially in the 1970's, it is very common for many landed properties to grow a mango tree in one's compound. In many instances, the mango tree (depending on the garden area) is often planted at the corner of one's garden either at the front-of-the-home or at the back. When this tree is often around 10 to 15 years old, they can be as tall as 3 storey's high and leave quite a large "dark" footprint below the tree, because of it's thick foliage. Good or bad depending on the location. Good as it helps shade homes that directly face the afternoon sun. Bad if the home is north-south facing - as it affects the amount of light entering such a home. In many instances,a well trimmed or properly maintained garden need not have"jungle" like plants or trees. It (the garden) should be appealing to the us. If not sure, go for moderation or get a respectable company (professionals) to help design your dream garden! Usually, theywill putup proposals or show some samples of their work and also recommend some "hardy - reliable" plants/trees that suit your country. But since we cannot live in isolation i.e. we have our personal ba zi; the home also has it's personal ba zi element. If you want to place a water feature in the home: be it a water feature or fish tank, then, try to draw out a birth chart of the home (Feng Shui) using the Flying Star Feng Shui. In general, Do look out for the following flying star numbers:- Water Star #8 (Current prosperity)= if say the North sector contains a water star #8, then, placing a water feature in such a sector would benefit you greatly as your "weath can be activated". #9(Future prosperity). As #9 represents fire element on it's own, it is not wise to place a water feature at this sector. If there is no bad stars #5 or #2 in this sector, such a water feature, would drown your "future prosperity". #1 (Future, future, prosperity). Frankly, all these should be considered as decorative items. One can place a three-legged toad in the home. Face main door, face into the home, face left, face right.. everything would remain status quo. NO change. Under traditional methods of assessment: 1. Our Heaven chart or ba zi. Our Ba zi chart usually can show or indicate which period when we do have "pian cai" or 4D (lottery luck) 2. Our earth luck Under Flying Star Feng Shui, mountain #8 can be activated for such kinds of luck. And many Chinese do celebrate some of the auspicious events on this day:- For example:- 3rd day of every 1st Lunar month Birthday of a Chinese Toaist God commonly called Sun. Many Toaist celebrate his birthday on this date. 3rd day of every 2nd Lunar month Birthday of the Chinese god of literature. 3rd day of every 3rd Lunar month This is the birthday of the God of the protector of the North 3rd day of every 8th Lunar month Birthday of the Kitchen God deity 3rd day of every 10th Lunar Month Birthday of General Mao Especially in the past, because of the birthday significance of such famous gods (deity or general) these days are considered auspicious for some. Thus, from the above, it does not look like all 3rd days are very inauspicious. It is like saying that because it is the Year of the tiger, one cannot get married. Based on our experience, the ba zi dates are personalised to the person. It has a basis of one's ba zi with five elements concept. Thus, if it is me, I will still stick to the same date.
