  1. In Feng Shui, in situations where: 1. A stove directly faces (opposite) a water position. Often, a small mirror is placed at the water position, such that when one lits up the hob, the mirror can "reflect" back the "fire". 2. This is also for a stove facing an open window. A small mirror is placed at the level / hob, to reflect back the "warmth". 3. Some FS practitioners also advise placing a mirror at the back of the stove. Do guess what is this for? Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Anon, Frankly, looks like, in-order to replace the mirror it has to be prised /cracked to reply. Actually, I feel that: 1. Often, the first is based on "Common-sense approach". One reason why, it is not favourable to break the glass is because of splinters or shards of glass. Proper cleaning after the removal is OK. 2. Any since the glass is already chipped, so long as you are not the one removing it, I feel that this is OK. Where possible, or a more practical approach is to let the workmen remove-it while you do not see the activity. 3. Here, you are not the one breaking up the glass. 4. If you have not moved-in, yet, it is better! Do all this before your actual move-in date. Otherwise, frankly, if it has to be replaced, it has to be replaced. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Nisha, It is understandable, when you mentioned that you are only a tenant and would like to have many of your favourite things in your bedroom. Yes, I do encourage you to make first and foremost your room as comfortable with all your favourite things! It does not matter if there are fishes. But, it brings you both pleasure and comfort - GO FOR IT! The logic here is based on this understanding: 1. Often, many good FS practitioners will stick to or advise their clients on the Holy Trinity of Feng Shui: 1.1 Heaven Luck - what is given to us 1.2 Earth Luck - our abode / work place 1.3 Human Luck - what brings us happiness:) Sometimes, for some, we have limited earth luck i.e. we do not own the place. However, often, if we are happy, positive in life, this is human luck. And it can actually bring up our life (despite average earth luck etc..) So, do follow your heart! Cheers! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Anon, Wishing you best of luck in getting a job soon! Please see below:- Do make yourself at home:) If you need both networking luck and wealth luck, trying to map out a Flying star chart specific to your home. I had taken a break should I enhance the The more "politically" correct way is as mentioned to draw a specific Flying star chart for your home. Instead of enhancing north with a water feature, try your best to under Period 8 to locate the water star #8. This is suppose to be your water wealth position. Location mountain star #8. And place a solid object with mass at this location. This is to activate your networking luck. In addition if there are good mountain stars like #9, you can also activate it for luck / networking luck. This sure beats just "blindly" placing the water position at north = water position. (please check on this). also since Under the Five elements concept, wood is a good component to exhaust earth. But for a truly ugly bad #5, moving metal is a better choice for a #5. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Leon, What you refer to is actually sometimes known as the "Eight-One Combinations". The explanation is that 81 Combinations are fixed detailed description of different combinations as the numbers of the stars comes together. It provides short explanation of the combination effects. For example: MS [8] & WS[6] means Prosperity, good wealth. Geomancy.net Flying star course students, do get a table showing all the meaning of the 81 combinations i.e. 1 with 2 2 with 3 etc.. to 9 with 9 Alternatively, perhaps some authors may have such a table for you. Currently I am very busy, as several new condominiums have TOP such as Gardens @ Bishan and the Maderia and a few more. And many of my clients are trying to finalise their new home layout. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Anon, Frankly, this category of Feng Shui is often classified under "Kindergarten Feng Shui". Where we commonly hear: North = water, South = fire etc.. Just a few years ago, I remembered, locally some practitioners were simply practising this type of Feng Shui. Many of them, I heard, have very few business - if any. With more sophisticated consumers; it would be more fruitful to learn more of both Shapes and Forms as well as Compass School Feng Shui. Under Flying Star, instead of a generalised view that north = water, one should follow where the #1 star lands on the 9 grid system. Here, #1 and a combination of it e.g. #4 often leads to prosperity etc... Truly, do make a change, today:) Warmest Regards, Cecil Thank you.
  7. Dear Anon, Most of the time is the location, pedestrian traffic and also the type/value of food. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Angelina, You may seriously consider "flying" to Period 8 for better Feng Shui for your home. However, if this part of the home is your main entrance, you may consider: 1. A real water position to neutralise #7 1 #7. 2. Alternatively a second (less effective) option is to use a blue carpet. Also can I use 6 coins I believe if your home is a NE 2 or 3, than you are faced with MS#2 Base#5 and WS#4. This would be "different" from just having only #3 and #5. With the addition of MS#2 in this equation, seriously, it would be better to consider "moving" metal e.g. a wind chime or a constant chiming clock. To constantly neutralise this "bad" (erh.. rotten) sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil Also can I use 6 coins Angelina
  9. Dear Joey, This is a very good question. Since you encountered such a situation, it is best to: 1. Often, this building does not stand-alone. 2. Do look around at other buildings on the same "row". And where their "main entrance" are located. 3. If it is a shopping complex, usually, there is a "major" entry or lobby vs a smaller side lobby. 4. Check for sun-light/shadow flow. Which facing is blocked by other buildings? 5. Is the building close to the sea? If so, often, we should look closely at the facing towards the sea. 6. At the entrance area, check to see which lobby looks bright (natural brightness). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Patrick, It is good if you can provide a sketch - to take a look. This is because, if you managed to go thru past resources on this forum, you can see examples of homes at culdesac that are good or bad depending on where the home(s) are situated. Warmest Regards, Cecil The Kindly Many thanks! -Pat
  11. Dear Val, Understand that there will be a confusion. In fact, quite recently, there is an earlier forum message seeking clarification of Gua 5 (Kua 5). Please do a SEARCH for the above. The rationale is because when the calculation "hits" Gua 5, it is re-directed to the correct Gua / Kua based on male or female. By-the-way (BTW), therefore " Gua 5 " is actually the centre Gua. And since there are only eight sectors, there is no such thing as an actual centre Gua / Kua 5. Please go to the earlier message and you can find out more. Warmest Regards, Cecil Much
  12. dear Jen, 1. If there is no boundary and the entire piece of land seamlessly looks like merging with the entire area, than, this is far better off! Than, purposely demarcating boundary. Where, it will clearly show as a truly odd shaped piece of land. 2. Generally, we should not be too fearful of odd shaped piece of land. Unless often it affects the drainage of the land. 3. Overall, after reading your note, I do feel sad, not because of your land but the fact that I live in a country that not only must one have a fence but it has to be relatively high or prevent unauthorised people coming into it. 4. In Asia, and especially in Singapore the norm for a landed property home is "detering fences/brick walls" ; in addition it is common to find alarm systems. And yeah! the traditional guard dogs! But the guard dogs are often truly a laughing matter! As many local owners here don't keep dobermans etc... but rather poodles or small pet dogs that barks louder than they ever can bite! More importantly, the landscaping surrounding your own home should be as "rectangular" as possible. This is fair enough. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Kesaven, Fortunately, there is no MS #9 or base #9. As this is truly a fire element. You are correct to say that you should use a metal cure, here. And if possible avoid using real water at this location. As water may further fuel the bad #3 wood x 2. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Fiona, Yes, I do agree with your analysis. Under Period 8, if your home has a SE 2 Flying star chart; it is not really a fantastic chart since only the front and back have good numbers. Otherwise, as you had mentioned, majority of the other sectors under SE 2 (P8) needs attention. Therefore, it is like a double edged sword, if the home were to fly to Period 8. No, although there is the pearl string, but you still need to place a cure for star #7 especially at the frontage. However, once this is neutralised; this is fair game:) Do use the alternative door, you mentioned. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. I have posted this configuration, before. This is file is in .pdf and shows the "protective" and "prevention" of wealth leak - commonly applied under Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Todd, Congratulations! For a newbie, you did a great job in researching and constructing a Flying Star Chart. 1. Yes, given that Grand Duke is at SW this year, it is indeed a good idea to give up on placing the tub at this sector, here. 2. At South-East sector, quickly: #1 = water #2 bad earth and #4 is wood. Quoting your research: "Lu Qi V2.3 Flying Stars of House - Metal is the cure, as it weakens the Earth and strengthens the Water of the good star 1. Possibly Wood, which fed by Water, controls the aggressive Earth of 2. But no mobile Water, that would activate the bad star 2!" Based on the Five elements concept: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm Yes, I would agree that metal is the cure - since it is the "unifying" or the third element that creates a flow: earth -> metal -> water -> wood However, based strictly on the Five elements concept:- "But no mobile Water, that would activate the bad star 2!" If one looks at the productive sequence of the Five elements concept: water does not activate bad star 2. Also under the destructive sequence of the Five elements concept: water instead of fueling bad star 2 - in fact "draws out or decreases star 2." Given this understanding, I feel that tub can still be at South-East sector. But for the colour of this area avoid: Fire (Red, pink or purple) since it can fuel bad 2. Or avoid Earth (cream, beige or yellow) as this can help increase bad earth. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear A J, Generally, IF the home is a Period 8 home, majority of SE facing homes have favourable Flying Star especially water star 8 at this sector. This is one consideration. Under the Eight House, it is best also to check the eight house influence in the master bedroom. Hopefully it is not you or your partner's disaster or death side. Alternatively, in Feng Shui, there is a possibility of tilting the main door towards a good facing direction. This is said to be "killing two birds" with one stone i.e. no longer face inauspicious direction and changed to a good favourable main door direction. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Patrick, Would it be possible to upload a simple sketch of the home. This is because, if you go thru some of the past postings, some homes can take "advantage" of the cul-de-sac to collect wealth, but others are "hammered" by it. Warmest Regards, Cecil Does this have the same Anyone's Thank
  19. Dear Anon, Yes, sometime back in the 1970's it was very common to purchase boomerangs from Oz. Frankly, I myself had also did decorate my home with a single boomerang and at one time two huge fork and spoons! So far, to me, it seems that they do not remotely look like knifes or swords. Thus I feel it is OK. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Developer: Hoi Hup Holdings Pte Ltd Location: Jalan Rama Rama Tenure Freehold Total No of Units 204 Expected TOP Date 30 June 2008 Types of units: 2 Bedrooms 1,055 to 1,055sqf 3 Bedrooms 1,259 to 1,615sqf 4 Bedrooms 2,939 to 3,025sqf This development has two blocks: The Duke and The Duchess Overall, it looks like all the better units had been snapped up i.e. especially #03 and #05. Blocks #02 and #07 in my opinion are considered unfavourable because of the fact that these units are exposed to the afternoon sun. Imagine! daily (especially in sunny Singapore) one returns to a very warm Master bedroom! and even the bedroom 2 cannot escape the afternoon sun. Do seriously consider buying such homes even if the bedrooms suit "west group people". If we only use the Eight House to match our homes, than this is a very serious case of mismatch! Or the wrong application of Feng Shui! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Eleni, If you are D.I.Y. Feng Shui, then, it is best that you may have to (depending on your interest and absorption), take as little as a month or even 6 to 1 year to really understand some of the key principles. I understand, many of us, simply want to read a book on Feng Shui and apply the ideas immediately. However, it is not like "William Hung" of the American Idol fame, http://www.williamhung.org who thinks that every area can be "cultivated" or worked on for everyone. For example, several years back, this Doctor, sought to practice Feng Shui. Usually doctors are intelligent people. But this doctor thought that Feng Shui is just like reading books on the human anatomy. Where if the book precisely state the heart and it's vessels it is exactly what we see is what we get. Similiarly perhaps for the naive William Hung, he has intelligence and I believe, he thought that any thing can be "taught" to us. And we should have no problem achieving it. For example, he mentioned something like " I do not have any training" Simon Cowell replied -- "this is the surprise of the century". The doctor, read one book, and painted his doors and main gate in the colours based on e.g. North = water, South = fire etc... But later, oops, when he read more, perhaps, he had used the wrong colours etc... Therefore, if you are doing it D.I.Y. one may have to do much more homework. Otherwise, get others to do it for them. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Samatha, Another alternative is the grille gate. Here, for example, if one has a stainless steel or aluminium gate, some of the panels can be flushed with "steel" or aluminium sheet. Such that for the steel sheet, it covers e.g. the knee level or sometimes we see aluminium gates that have a large area covered up. It is nice to have the steel sheet covering the gille gate surface as it is reflective. And this reflection is akin to a ba gua mirror. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dera Fiona, To be honest, one area to look at is Feng Shui. But equally important is many other factors especially that each of our character has been formed throughout our young age. This is why, most of the time, when we reach 18 or 21, we are allowed to sign a specific signature. As our character component is already comprise of what we are. Under Chinese horoscope, the only explanation is that the best match for a Rat partner is the dragon or monkey. Whilst the ram is not as a good match. The worst conflict is a horse with rat. Usually, the major part of Feng Shui is to allow for a good home environment conducive to family life. And from here, the spin-off is that a good family life is the building block or starting point. Wow! changing 4 homes is indeed often stressful for the couple. Perhaps, this is due to the postings to various parts of the country - for work etc... Where possible, it is always best to avoid the frequency of too many relocations. Overall, other than the above, sometimes, it is good to get an outsider e.g. counsellor to help the couple. (although, many times, Chinese often do not like this medium). This reminds me of the various earlier posting on this subject. Where, often a new couple, are like two persons thrown into a "jungle". Both have to adapt to the environment as well to themselves. This classic case that I always remember was that for example, the husband anyhow squeeze toothpaste. And the wife gets really agitated finding this despite her constant yaking over this issue. And often, such small issues often spark into larger issues. Sometimes, when married too long, if one can have a baby, it would be good. (If they have not have one already). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Nisha, Actually, the concern of a mirror facing the bed stems from the belief that when one sleeps, some Chinese belief that the spirit leaves the body. When doing so, it may get a "shock" to see itself in the mirror. This is why, often, numerous Feng Shui books or practitioners does not favour having a mirror facing the bed. However, in the past I had mentioned that more importantly, it has to do with "how sensitive" we are or are not. For example, contrary to the above belief, we could say that when we sleep, our spirit, leaves our body. And, because it wants to look nice, look into the mirror and combs his/her hair before, going off! 2. Overall, we often hear that some people literally do not feel anything even if there are mirrors all round the bedroom. They can sleep comfortably. While others who are more sensitive feel uncomfortable with a mirror in the bedroom. (Most likely these are the people, who read too much Feng Shui books on do's and don'ts!) 3. When television was invented, and nowadays, almost all bedrooms have tv sets. Some practitioners say that having a tv set facing the bed is inauspicious, since the tv set screen is like a mirror. 4. But how often if ever do we read in the newspaper: "Mr X moved in to new apartment, placed a tv set in his bedroom and drop dead???" 5. Many new tv sets even have non-reflective screens e.g. lcd monitors etc... 6. Therefore, it all boils down to how sensitive are we? 7. In your situation, if you do sleep comfortably, then, there is no issue even if the mirror is placed at the head of the bed or anywhere in the bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Rich, It is prefered to go for yellow instead of black: 1. What you had mentioned: fire destroys or melts metal. This is not exactly a "bad thing". Because, the destructive cycle can also be considered as a "wealth" cycle. Thus when fire melts metal, this is considered good because it is producing wealth. For example if we look at another element: Wood destroys earth. We can imagine, that a tree has roots and it's roots go into the earth to get nourishment. 2. Why yellow? Yellow represents earth. When fire melts metal, metal is exhausted. And earth helps to nourish metal, producing more wealth. 3. This concept is similar to a Chinese ancient coin with a square hole in the middle often (6 coins tied with red string) where: Circular or round coin = metal element Copper or bronze coin = metal element Red string (tie a bundle of coins) = fire element Here, fire is used to control metal element. Or fire melts gold to produce wealth. And after doing so, the square hole at the centre (representing earth) helps to strength the metal. Warmest Regards, Cecil
