Dear Sylvia, Please see below:- Frankly, since your home is a NW3 home, it is better to remain as a NW3 Period 7 home. As it is still able to tap on the auspicious Pearl String effect of such a period 7 home. Although, this is not the best or ideal situation, it is better to face the "devil's advocate" if your home were to "fly" into Period 8. Given that, there will be more problems or less than ideal condition for your home to be under Period 8. The most yang part of a home need not necessarily mean that one must have a main entrance, here. Given, this senario, usually, the location where there are most windows. For trees everywhere, this is not a major issue, since, they can be "cut-down". If your bed is located at NE sector, Period 7, NW3, then this bedroom is afflicted by MS#9 (strong fire) with WS#2 (sickness). This is an inauspicious combination since: Fire supports or fuels bad earth #2. Where possible, check that the room (if it is at NE) should not have too much Fire (red, pink or purple) and Earth (Yellow, cream or beige). A metal cure should be used at this NE sector to balance it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Suraya, Usually, the Chinese astrology forecast you mentioned is considered very general as it looks only at the year of birth. Often, we may have to put aside such forecast since we do not want to create: 1. auto-suggestion 2. self fulfilling prophercy Since both of you have been staying for two years, frankly, it is time for both of you to plan for the future. In my opinion, even for weddings, nowadays, many of us plan for it. (Even if it is not this year). An early marriage is often a good idea; often because, it is good to have children when young. And also, it forms a basis for a continued relationship (for most people). Warmest Regards, Cecil I I am an Please can you I am looking forward Suraya

Dear Tess, Frankly, since the railway tracks are very close, it would seem that it will be part of your daily lives. It is not like closing one's eyes and wishing it away. Perhaps, the sound or vibration would be there. One may have to get used to it. The only consolation is to see where possible, if additional sound proofing could be used e.g. closing the side of windows facing the tracks or insulation or curtains, to reduce the noise. This may sound too advanced, but nowadays, work is going on into "noise cancellations - devices" that may neutralise it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Don't worry, even in a relatively safe country like Singapore, more homes have bars installed - than not. As this is a deterent, there should not be an issue, here. Within the home, appropriate interior decor e.g. use of curtains or blinds etc... can easily off-set the ugly sight of the bars. The morale of the story? " YOU ARE NOT ALONE WITH THIS ISSUE! ". Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. The only major concern for bars in an apartment is that often, some of these bars in a room should be able to be opened (can also be locked) in case, of a fire. The fireman should be able to cut-open the lock - as a means of escape. A fully fixed bar grille, is often not a good idea, in such a case. I"m

Dear Ben, 1. Each industry can be classified under a specific "Five element". 2. In addition, the constant for this Lunar Year is: The Metal Monkey in Wood Year 2004. 3. The common basis of the above is on the Five Elements concept. 4. Industrial Analysis On the above basis (for stocks and shares as well as venturing into such business), each industry can also be classified into one of the Five elements: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth & Metal. For example, since this year belongs to the Wood year, in general, a prediction can state that trades related to wood, should be good. (Although, there will be high competition) but often, it may lead to success and lots of chances to succeed etc... 5. Para 4 is one way of relating with Para 2 to ascertain how good or bad the year is. 6. Chinese Horoscope for individual persons Again, in another example of the Chinese horoscope, people born in the year of the Tiger and Money, is considered not so good under the Wood Year:- Reference: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/yearly-forecast/fortunes-2004.htm 7. Since the lowest common denominator is the Five elements concept, again, each person or year and/or situation is analysed in relation the the Five elements concept. 8. I-Ching or Y-Ching prediction This is the Chinese oracle based on the 64 hexagram. This is often used by practitioners to predict stock market trends etc... 9. Most likely to happen This is another category which does not rely on the hocus pocus of Chinese divinity methods. For example, last year, I wrote situtations where it is common to find practitioners making several predictions. For example, I quoted the case like earthquakes. Since, California did not have a earth quake of a certain magnitude for some time, it would bound to happen, sooner or later. And, it did happened. All the practitioner needs to do is to make a few "predictions" of this nature to cover e.g. an earthquake in the 4th quarter of 2003 etc... For dictators, this is also an easy target. Since, Bush's father, (in my opinion) it was said to be on Saddam's assasination list, it was said that there was more than meets the eye when the younger Bush took over as the President. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Shellei, Reference url: http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/ayear/a60-80.htm 11 Feb 1975 to 30 Jan 1976 = Wood-Rabbit 31 Jan 1976 to 17 Feb 1977 = Fire-Dragon Since your friend's birthdate falls between 11 Feb 75 to 30 Jan 1976, he/she should be considered under the Rabbit Chinese zodiac sign. (Since the Year of Dragon 1976 only begins on 31 Jan 1976). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Amarjit, In my opinion, one of the major area is to ensure that one applies good examination techniques, good balanced, study and good rest when needed. Feng Shui plays only an indirect role. And it is also about, having a conducive environment. Many people, study and in constant contact with friends taking the same examination. Here, "motivating" each other to study, is equally good. The saying.... " Erh.. did I forget something? " What the "heck!" - Just do your best! No one can fault you! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dea Anooja, Please see below:- I am very glad that you find the site useful:) Some homes are still considered under Period 6. And if these homes have double 6's, they are considered still auspicious in another period. As long as no further renovation has been done after this period. The number #6 under any other period is considered auspicious. For homes, that are under Period 7, however, unfortunately, the #7 which in Period 7 is auspicious, will change back to it's original state i.e. robbery or theft star. Given this senario, under Period 8, it is better to check: 1. My home is under Period 7. Should I let it remain as Period 7 (same facing direction?) OR 2. Should I "fly" my home to Period 8 (same direction). 3. Alternatively, should I instead, "fly" my home to Period 8, but tilt the door to another facing direction? These are some of the considerations, that we should go into the prospect of one's home which is especially built under Period 7. For those who are into Flying Star Feng Shui can annually (after considering Para 1 to 3); check the sectors that have the worst star(s) e.g. #5 which is at the centrepoint etc.... Usually, it is very unfavourable if the stove is directly on the intangible force or line of the compass direction that has the #9. And also in particular if the sector is at South (fire) sector. The best direct method of "curing" fire is the introduction of water (blue, black or grey) element. This is to drown #9. Another method is to "draw" out or exhaust fire #9 by the introduction of Earth element and Metal element. Under the productive cycle: Fire => Earth => Metal In an extremely "hot" sector with #9 combined with either a stove there or another #9 or at the south compass direction, the introduction of Earth and Metal, can help to reduce or exhaust the fire. Where possible, "Wood" should be avoid. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Terry, Please see below:- CLUE: 1. Both are Compass School Feng Shui 2. The Three-step approach 3. Extending from Para 2. CLUE: What is the strength of Gua (Eight House Theory) system? What is the weakness of the Gua (Eight House Theory)? I strongly believe, your fingers should do more "walking". Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. In the past, I had replied no less than 300 or more, same question. Next, PROPER, question, please.... Thanks....

Dear Tiffani, If you are saving it, and sending it to my email account, you can save it under either: 1. .bmp (bit map) format. This has very good resolution but big file. (Still no problem for my email account). NICE TO HAVE: Better still if you can .zip it up. The compression is very good and the file will definitely be small. 2. .png format. Portable graphic format is another good format. 3. .gif format. Make sure you save - if your graphic program has 100 percent option, save it as such. 4. DO NOT SAVE it as a .jpg. It will be "frustating to read, unless, your file compression is placed at 0 percent compression. This format, can make all of us "blind". Frankly, bringing it into .doc format, does not good, since, the graphic imported is already "bad". Garbage in,garbage out. Please do try either 1 to 3. Thanks. Warmest Regards, Cecil Thanks again Tiffani On

Dear Regina, Thank you for making an effort to search the forum before, posting duplicate messages. Often, it is difficult to fault anyone who has taken much effort to search forum messages. I really appreciate it. And, hope many forum users make that extra effort to search for an answer. This is good, because, then, we can see more "quality" questions, and hopefully, see a reasonable response. I will be more than happy to go thru it. At the same time, for many users listening into the forum, it will be more rewarding:) For info, I remember that there were at least 25,000 users listening in thru e-mail. Although, they do not participate, but, many only posts questions that have a bearing. Here, it is a learning experience for all of us. Yes, I kind of agree with your assessment. The art of Feng Shui is about, commonsense. And, it truly makes more practical sense to - IF POSSIBLE, place a cure at the "correct" spot, whenever possible. The saying goes "a hit is as good as a mile". For example, all of us know that if the Winning lottery number is : 1234 but we bought a number 1243. TOO BAD! One has missed the mark! But, in-case, people level critism on this: let's bring in the best escape clause: IT DEPENDS!!! Sometimes, a sector cannot be `reached', some FS practitioners instead advise e.g. a wind chime to chime over an area. In Feng Shui, as adults we must be aware that: there is no right or wrong answers. Especially, if one's argument or logic is sound. Frankly, thank you again, for making your fingers do the walking...., first. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. Actually, there are more forum messages posted each day. Just that, I have always been selective in moderating and posting each forum message to this forum. (In queue over the last year alone, there are at least 1,000 unmoderated questions. Frankly, I have no choice. Because, some of the questions, are too common or "asking for the world".

Dear Hoa Luong, Wishing You, your family and everyone in the forum: HEALTH, WEALTH AND HAPPINESS, ALWAYS! 1. Yes, I believe there is a reasonable explanation for this. 2. For example, let me illustrate using fruits. 3. Most of us know that both apples and oranges are fruits. 4. Similiarly Chinese Horoscope and Pillars of Destiny are considered as CHINESE DIVINITY methods. Thus both belong to the same family. 5. But, again, as all of us know, even if apples and oranges are fruits, but, they are not exactly the same fruit. Here, an orange is not equal to an apple. 6. The key to understanding this is that "Oranges are oranges but oranges ARE NOT APPLES". 7. Here, when we mention that the next YEAR is not a good year for a Monkey or a Tiger, we are taking into consideration only just a person's YEAR of birth. 8. While, ba zi, or ba zi, used here is based on more than one variable. Thus, not only one's YEAR of birth is considered but, also MONTH, DAY, HOUR, HOUSE OF LIFE and CONCEPTION. 9. Thus Ba Zi uses YEAR, MONTH, DAY, HOUR etc... but the general statement for the Horoscope simply mentions only the YEAR of birth. 10. So, it follows that both are not using the same common denominator. Ba zi uses extra "fields" to make an anlysis. 11. Even in a Ba Zi analysis, there is also various ways to show the description of it:- 11.1 Often, if we read a 10 YEAR luck period anaylsis: It may say that GENERALLY, considering the 10 year period, OVERALL, it is more auspicious for the 10 YEAR luck period. 11.2 But if we take a step, lower, and analyse the 10 year by breaking it down to two 5 years, For example, the first 5 years may state that it is inauspicious for the person. While the next 5 years is auspicious. 11.3 If we go down further and analyse, every six months, within each 5 years, there can be a six month auspicious or inauspicious period. 12. Therefore, I hope you get my point. "You must see what you are comparing". 13. Often, in forums that are not properly supervised, I have seen many people twist and turn, messages by comparing apples with pears or oranges. This people perhaps have their own hidden agenda. I believe, these are naive people, trying to cause problems by planting "rotten seeds"; to gullible people. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Liza, Honestly, my parents were matched-made, and thus no choice in the selection of partners. But like many people, the key success to a marriage is that two "Hands" must clap-together. The danger about reading too much astrology is for fear of: Auto-suggestion and the other self-fulfilling prophercy. Our life is what we make of it. Many of the ingredients in life include: 1. Give-and-take (give and receive) It is said that the most used word in the English dictionary is " I ". (self). Thus, if one only sees that we ourselves are the only one giving but not take, then one day, we may just "blow" up literally. 2. Listening ear Have a listening ear to your partner. 3. Your life is what both of you make of it. It is not yet written or coded. "What the heck" Live life to the fullest. Anyway, live is short, so, think positive, think good about your partner (not let him worship you like god - else serious trouble). 4. Man to woman talk ==================== Some man like their wifes to "control" or lead their lifes while others do not. So, are you going to the the Minister of Finance and Law and Order? " And relegate your man to become a Minister without portfoilo... Do have a wonderful marriage! Think of only happy thoughts, and also, remember the phase in terms of "crisis": blood is thicker than water. "After the bitterness, comes the sweetness". Warmest Regards, Cecil My date birth is

Dear Tiffani, Thanks for making the effort to draw a layout plan. Frankly, I opened the file, at least 5 times, trying to read the "fine and sketch" wordings. But had to close it because of "failing-eye" sight, after going thru one or two words. (fortunately, notebooks come in bigger screen - more user friendly to an old man like me...) I understand, I have imposed a restriction in the forum for the file size. But, if you can instead, save under a better resolution and e-mail to: support@geomancy.net I can take alook at the shapes and forms. And repost it back to the forum. Thanks in advance! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joe, Gong Xi Fa Cai! (Mandarin) (Kong Si Huat Chai! - Hokkien) From a Shapes and Forms Feng Shui perspective: 1. Mountain with water painting =============================== If the painting has a "mountain, water image" e.g. a flowing water running down from a stream, then, often, some Chinese homes would place it next to the main door. Therefore, when one opens the main door, the painting e.g. on the side of the wall would allow "water" (symbolic) of wealth to flow into the home. But make sure that this type of painting is not placed on a wall facing a balcony or window. As wealth may inadvertenly flow out. 2. Purely Mountain painting (Or painting with birds flying) This painting should be placed against a "solid backing" e.g. a wall or if in the study room wall. 3. Under Flying Star Feng Shui ============================== 3.1 Under one's home Flying Star chart, locate: 1. the #8 Mountain star. 2. the base = #8 3. the yearly chart = #8 After this, from a shapes and forms perspective see if the site can reasonably "sustain" or let this painting be placed there. BASE STAR = #8 ============== For example, under Para 2, for most homes, born or constructed under Period 8, the base #8 is at the centrepoint of the home. Thus, unless, one has to "Lockup the mountain star", here, than, the painting may not be suited at the centrepoint area. For houses born or constructed under period 7 or 8, the base star can be at any other location (depending on the flying star chart). If the location is appropriate, then the painting can be placed here. WHERE Mountain Star (MS) = #8 ============================= If one has only ONE mountain painting, than better to place it at the location where Mountain Star MS = #8 (again, if the location is appropriate for the mountain star). Under Period 8, this is a very auspicious Mountain Star location. So, this is the "first choice" location. Where Yearly star = #8 ====================== This location will change every Lunar Year. So, it is best to determine whether the next period is appropriate before Lunar 2005. What about Home = a CAVE ======================== If one lives in a cave, no need to activate the mountain star. Please pray that the cave does not cave-in will do. Hopes the above helps:) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kesaven, Please see below:- I am glad that you find the forum useful. I have always keep the forum messages "alive" since this forum program captured all the messages as far back as 6-7 years ago. And will continue to make the resources freely available to everyone wanting to understand as much as they can. I therefore, appeal to all users to make an effort to use the SEARCH feature in this forum. It is not like searching thru, tons of paper. But rather, for those who have rather lazy or fat fingers, should excercise them! No point have a shapely body figure but fingers are so...so fat! Not proportionate to size. 1. Study the various probable facing direction charts for your home, first. 2. For example, since your original facing direction is NW, under Period 8, NW1, this layout can enjoy the "pearl-string" flying star chart. Do also explore the NW2 and NW3 type of chart. 3. If your door can be properly tilted to North direction, yes, if it is tilted correctly even at the frontage, you can have the North direction influence. 4. Frankly, if you have either limited knowledge, or unable to collectively, combine all concepts, then, please seek professional help. 5. Facing the door to a favourable direction is but one of the many considerations. 6. Shapes and Forms: Equally important, is e.g. the sitting of the toilet(s), bedrooms, even staircase up to the rooms/kitchen etc... are equally important. In your case, I strongly suggest, that you seek professional help. Since, your home has not been constructed, yet. I sincerely, believe this is the most cost-effective method, given that, you may not have covered most of the issues. Or if so, may have limited knowledge. However, if you are confident enough, and if the "commonsense" approach is applied, on the other hand, this is equally acceptable. It is equally important to check and if possible avoid bedroom(s) or common rooms e.g. living room under direct sun-light. For example, with or without Feng Shui, unless, one has being living in the Sahara - and cannot live without this atmosphere, then locating the bedroom under the west location is fine. But for many, who want comfort, sleeping in a cooler room, should do otherwise. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joji, It is like "sucking on" a baby's comforter. If it makes one more "comfortable", it is ok to hang one. Frankly no harm from it. But don't purposely hang one the size of an ostrich egg. If it falls and hits on one's head, can sure give an amnesia. Else, one may have to place a "HARD HAT" sign for anyone passing thru it. *JOKE* Basically, any material is acceptable (SO LONG) as it is reasonably priced. Better steel if it is cheap! Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Niap, Please see below:- Clear space at the frontage is an alternative to having a water position, here. If it is flown to Period 8, in my opinion, it may not be advantages to the male breadwinner as there will be problems if this sector is "uncured". Since there is an imbalance of too much fire x 2 times. Make sure that the room does not have too much wood (especially green) to further inflame it. Introducing earth element is a double edged sword, at this sector since, earth can fuel further bad metal (#7 theft/robbery star). The most effective element is water: Blue, black or grey at this sector. All users please don't simply copy what is the base, mountain, and water star for me analyse - in the future. As it takes much effort to go thru this. This is because, just because I answer this question, I do not expect to be further bombarded with copy-cat type of question, like this. Counter-productive to time. It so happens that, this is late Sunday, here and, I just reply it. Anyway, anyone with sufficient Five elements skills should learn it and apply it, themselves. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Further to what I had mentioned: From an academic (Five Elements concept) point of view: 1. Here, the cloth (if used) should be circle. Since, it represents the Metal element. Much like the "Suntec City" Fountain of Wealth (circle = metal on water). 2. In real-life, an active countermeasure is of course, fire sprinkler on the ceiling of the garage. Since, square shape is the most effective method to cover the garage, Imagine this: it is interesing that fire sprinkler, pipes are in red or painted red. And lets, say we lay the sprinkler pipe in a square shape. It does not only look the same as the square red cloth, but in-fact, in real-life, it can truly safe lives - in an actual fire. 3. Let us not forget, a simple and reasonable priced tool: a smoke sensor strategically placed, would also be good. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Emily, Thank you for sharing with us the information. Please see below:- As much as the danger of a vehicle, catching fire, is in-fact very rare. Unless, (touch-wood) due to arson etc... Also, using this red square fabric, does not help in the event of an earthquake, such as in LA, San F etc... The destructive cycle of the Five Elements suggest using Fire to destroy Metal. So, technically speaking, the logic sounds OK. This is the "BRUCE LEE" style of attack and destroy enemy. Here, Fire is used to control Metal. And square is symbolic of earth (where metal strengthens earth) and fire, contains metal. Alternatively, since Metal supports Water; a hidden blue cloth is akin to the " Jackie Chan " style of using water to draw out the metal. Either way, in my opinion, it is more in the "mind" than Feng Shui. Technically, 3 plants (big or small) represents wood. Thus, under the Five elements concept, Metal destroys or exhausts wood thus, making it weak. In theory, the Five Element concept is used, here. In terms of the hidden square cloth, I personally, do not see the rationale of "hiding it" - becoming effective. Since, this conflicts with the idea that : often, many of the cures, should be physically seen. Here, one might as well, embed it into the flooring. Frankly, since it is hidden, I don't think there is a harm using it. *JOKE* Perhaps, it is interesting to note this question: Why not instead of placing a red square cloth; would NOT a RED CAR do as well? Given the above logic? Therefore, the idea(s) mentioned is based on the Five Elements Logic. As to whether it is/are effective, may perhaps, be directed towards the person placing it. If his/her belief (hope) is strong, then, perhaps, it can strengthen, his/her Man Luck. Else, a person, neutral to the idea or finding it "silly", may feel that it does nothing for him/her. Therefore, perhaps, "IT'S IN THE MIND?" Warmest Regards, Cecil
