1. To be honest, today, such Chinese customs really no sense to "modern" Chinese at all. 2. More related to an era where there was a strong Matriarch. The good news is that today Year 2022, many families are not run by a "MAFIA" type of Granny. Those were the days where daughters-in-laws were frown upon if they are unable to bear a male for the family. Or that the eldest son was treated like a king. 4. Nowadays, most grannys especially in Singapore are some of the kindest and most gentle kind and dot all grand children. Thus they have no issues. Many don't even know of such draconian rules like what are discussing. 5. Furthermore, to pacify, you can treat "I am married this yr;2022 & my sister is married 2020" this here, so as not to feel guilty at that. 6. Today, so long as "Now we want to have a double wedding on 2023" suits you, your partner, your other family member who is intending to get married, their partners, their parents, I personally feel this is justified. 7. It is frankly time to say "Gone with the Wind" with such draconian rules! Frankly, I am sure, most of us, here will give you and your family MANY BLESSINGS! Let's not follow them BLINDLY ANY MORE! With so many trials and tribulations especially the life and death aspects of COVID19, Heck with this, LAH! Okay? Agree? KEE CHIU! Dedicated for All Modern Chinese Grand parents, Parents, Grooms, Brides, Brothers & Sisters.. erh.. EVERYONE! Sir, Is it appropriate to ask our "Dear Education Minister?" Will He agree also?
