  1. The best solution is as illustrated previously, is to do landscaping "behind" the home. Best lightfixtures shouldpreferably form a "square or rectangular" shape as far aspossible: just imagine froma helicopter view.
  2. 1. This is a typical interior layout plan of a Housing and Development Board (HDB) government public housing. 2. This type of layout plan is considered the largest at it's time : the Five (5) Room HDB flats. These flats were constructed within 1964 to 1984. Most of the flats were constructed sometime in mid 1970's. 3. The characteristics is that each block has four of these stacks. And the entire block looks like or often lovingly called "Point blocks". As when all four stacks are joined together forms a rectangular shape rising vertical thus .. referred to as Point blocks. 4. These flats are scattered all over Singapore's public housing projects: From Bedok to Marine Parade to Balestier Road, Ghim Moh, Holland Road, Hougangto just anywhere that you can find public housing that was constructed in many mature estates. 5. As these flats are the largest at that time; it is meant for the middle class. In 1976 the government launched another statutory board called : Housing and Urban Development Board (HUDC) to cater for those whose salary is above the qualifying level for HDB flats. 6. Can still see the first generation HUDC flats that are similar to the external "point block" shape at Laguna Park and Braddel Heights estate.During this time, there are also special two level (adjoined staircase type ofbigger flats) - Amberville was torn down. 7. Many get to purchase the outside area marked in "yellow" to extend a gate outwards. Some remove the entire balcony sliding glass at marking C. But placed casement windows at marking B. Else, there is a loss of qi or direct path of inauspicious qi from marking A (main door) towards marking B. 8. Again these flats have auspicious main entrance door measurements that are Feng Shui ruler friendly. 9. The layout plan has overall good Shapes and Forms Feng Shui:- 9.1. The entire layout plan is overall quite rectangularish with some protrusion at the service balcony area - acceptable. 9.2. You don't get to see toilets at the middle of the home. All the toilets are strategically placed together sharing an external wall. = Good shapes and forms. 10. Slight variation to this layout plan are the balcony design. Some balconies are rectangular in shape while others, don't have a protruding balcony nor rounded balconies.
  3. 1. Under Symbolism in Feng Shui, it is considered inauspicious to accept or approve the placement of any signage especially if there is a "spilt" in the middle of the signage: 1.1. It literally symbolises a "split" or disharmony of family relationships. 1.2. Under commonsense approach, there is a literal or real split due to wear and tear at the top middle portion of the signage as shown under red marking "A". 2. For business, it is more important to specify that your company signage should not be split in the middle - if possible. Thus instead of two pieces joined together, if really no choice at least a three piece background would be better choice.
  4. Under symbolism in Feng Shui, artifical plants may be used to represent the wood element. Especially in a water feature or if a young couple has no time to water the plants everyday.
  5. 1. The Meyer Place has two "blocks": The tower block and the conservation bungalow. 2. Formerly, behind the conservation bungalow used to be an open space of the previous hotel. 3. Today, this becomes not only a car park but also a swimming pool on the top deck of the car park. 4. Thus, today, you can say that there is a large water position, behind the conservation bungalow of The Meyer Place. The Feng Shui of the tower block has not changed. But the Feng Shui of the conservation bungalow, has changed with the newly TOP The View @ Meyer. 4. From the site plan; from the top view one can see the swimming pool and the conservation bungalow clearly marked. With some imagination, one will notice that the water position (the swimming pool) is at the back of the conservation bungalow.
  6. 1. Often many Chinese believe that it is not auspicious to see an opening eg. balcony window directly from the main door. Thus, it is not exactly a bad thing with a partition "blocking: the main door. 2. There are so many ideas about what should or should not be directly facing the main door: 2.1 Some felt that when we enter the home, we should not be met by a "wall". To some, this symbolises an obstacle of sorts. 2.2 Sometimes, this can be a plus point as one's main door no longer faces an "opening". 3. Thus for every argument, there is often a counter-argument for it. 4. There are quite alot of apartments nowadays with the main door facing the kitchen door directly. And often, many of us do not close the kitchen door. This has more to do with both:- 4.1. Commonsense and symbolism. 4.2. Under commonsense; it is very similiar to having a main door opened in full view of the dining table. Here, imagine - first impressions. If our dining table is messy or cluttered, the first thing our guest would see is the messy dining table. Same thing. If we enter the main door and can see thru the kitchen cum service balcony; some people hang underwear, bras and clothings in full view of the main door. 4.3. Symbolism: Here, if we stand at the main door looking into the home; and can see sharp objects like knifes; it is symbolically inauspicious. As these are sharp objects - not good to see all these items. Here, another "fairy tale" is that a would be thief may even run into the home and get hold of the knife and the rest is history. 4.4. In your case, try to keep the kitchen cum service area as neat and tidy as possible. Anonymous wrote: Dear Master, My main door is facing the kitchen door directly. Other than putting a divider in between, are there any other feng shui remedies? This is because my store room is in between the kitchen and main door, so there might not be enough space to place a divider. I have also read that its not good to have something blocking the main door when you enter.
  7. 1. All three may be considered "herbs" of sorts. Pomelo leaves are crushed and often used as remedies for arthritis & aches. 2. The closest equivalent "Chinese" thing is as you had mentioned from the citus family. In Asia, there are at least three variants of the citrus plants - many that have adapted to their country. 3. The citrus fruit especially lime is also used for "cleansing rituals/beliefs". For example, when someone felt that he/she has bad luck - flower bathing ritual includes a cut lime (cut into two pieces) combined with the flower - after a bathe to symbolically wash away bad luck... 3. While ecucalyptus can also be used, abeit, more exotic than the above two. 4. I would do the same and use citrus plant as a 1st choice subsitute. Anonymous wrote: We're moving into a new apartment tomorrow (Aug. 20) and we're supposed to sprinkle water around the walls with pomelo leaves, but I cannot find them anywhere in Paris. Is there another more common substitute? I found a citrus plant at a local flower shop, will that work? Or eucalyptus leaves? Or just my fingers?
  8. 1. Even if we want to place decorations; it would be good to place "smiling" decorative objects big or small in any development. 2. Some wise homeowners would prefer to choose: well rounded, happy faced lions on their gate pillars vs having "fierce looking" figurines.
  9. 1. You can find out the type of careers related to the fire element, here: http://www.geomancy.net/talknotes/talknotes.htm Anonymous wrote: hi, I would like to know how do we determine if a job/career is related to the fire element. Is the sports gambling industry considered a 'fire' industry? 2. In general, gambling is associated with the Earth element.
  10. 1. Frankly, all these depends on the individual, especially for those seeking advise from their own "elderly" family members. 2. Many in the past has done paperwork or even placed a deposit on a new home (condo). 3. As your first appointment is only paper transaction, purely this is acceptable and not physical entry or ownership of the home as yet. 4. Personally I feel that it is acceptable. Anyway, 19 September 2009 is the start of the Chinese 8th lunar month.
  11. 1. It depends! 2. One critical factor is about size. Some offices are pretty large by itself. But based on your sketch, the office looks puny or small. 3. In addition, another clue is where is the "mouth" of the office. In the sketch, the mouth of the tiny office is within the "mouth" of the retail shop. Thus, since this mainmouth is where qi is suppose to flow intoTHIS premises, then logically for practical reasons; the mouth of the retail shop should be the "first choice". 4. Unless the office MAY have a separateentrance door;and if this door is used as the office's main door.
  12. 1. Firstly this landscape picture is so small and "cloudy". 2. And other considerations include a clear view of the environment, the site, what is next to the plot of land and even things like drainage out of the property. 3. Really cannot just depend on a few lines of description and presto! Is the plot of land good.
  13. 1. You see, I spoke too soon! 1.1 I just used the Google search; typed in: stove and sink... and this thread was googled 6 hours ago... 1.2 You don't even need to be a member or login to this forum. It is universally readable especially from big search engines. Yahoo would also be doing the same soon or by now already... 2. Others.... Not all messages are approved... For those who have the wrong ideas; this is a moderated forum. All postings need approval. In fact, it is not possible to reply to all messages. And unfortunately for every forum message approved; 3 others are not.
  14. 1. Frankly, so long as you had not completed renovations; you should still approach your geomancer for further advise. 2. Professionally, someone else should not be commenting on the issue. As well as, frankly I also don't have all the facts. 3. This is a public forum and as you are aware, anyone can easily read the messages. For example, this forum is googled and yahooed - in a few days time. And messages posted to this forum will be auto robot archived and accessible when someone types stove and sink etc... I am not gona be the fodder for other geomancers to use on me. For example, the easiest fuel is "you don't even know all the facts, yet you are trying to comment and give advise - where, I was the there physically at your home". 4. You wrote this Feng Shui Triageand yet, you trying to give adice when you don't have all the facts.
  15. NG WEI MING N. wrote: P.S What can I do about the wall facing the room entrance? I'm worried that I'll we affect the flow into the bedroom. Is there anything I should hang on it? The distance of the wall to door is around 2.5 meters. No worries about the wall facing the room. Frankly, you don't need to do anything about it. One plus point is that you can have extra storage along that stretch of TV console area... and thus make your room visibly neat
  16. 1. Yes, based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, what you had mentioned is far better than existing layout - especially with the bed-head sharing the same wall as the WC sewerage pipe (if your toilet bowl is as mentioned). NG WEI MING N. wrote: Will it be better If I switch my bed position with the TV console? Tat way I will be in the command position, but sleep in the east Direction which is bad, any remedies to counter that? 2. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui should have higher weightage than sleeping with the head facing a good direction. 3. Having a commanding view is often a feel good factor! And this is one of the hallmarks of good Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. 4. This swop bed position with the TV console is also favourable with "army tactics" where you mentioned that you will then have a commanding view of all areas of your bedroom! 5. For your bedroom, go with the "flow" and the eight house / good / bad directions if it does not suit; the heck with it! This has more to do with Nice to have and not a must have!
  17. My initial comments are based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui:- 1. It is best to read this article: Dangers of Underground Water or Sewerage 2. Is your toilet bowl sharing the same wall as your bed-head? If so, the sewerage pipe : see marking "A" on the attachment is considered not auspicious. 3. As there is a higher likelyhood of the incidence of cancer when sleeping close to a source of sewerage pipe. 4. Simple solution is to have a head-board before the bed. Much like a shelfing for placing watch, clock etc...
  18. 1. To the Cantonese (dialect group) of the Chinese, the number 4 sounds like "death" in Cantonese. And anything with 4 or double 4 or even triple 4 is considered inauspicious. 2. Thus, this is not Feng Shui; but rather, the phonetic sound like "death". And homes or apartments that have this number would be considered as inauspicious thus may affect the future re-sale value of this apartment.
  19. 1. The three most common remedies, used are: 1.1. A bushy tree or plant & /or 1.2.A six hollow rod wind chime or 1.3. A conVEX mirror 2. If one is unable to fully block e.g. currently the tree is still immature or if winter, not much leaves than either 1.2 or 1.3 MAY be used. 3. Other types of Remedies (some require alteration works:- 3.1. In Asia, often homes have fences and gates. These gates may have screens and often closed. Thus if it cannot be seen it no longer becomes a threat. 3.2. Some Geomancers may advise the tilting of the main door.
  20. 1. Since you have recently hired another practitioner; take the opportunity to ask this practitioner what is his/her rationale for changing the stove position. And also to tell you why the existing stove and sink location is not good. 2. Since you have stayed at this home for 10 years, do reflect on what is your reason for hiring this practitioner. Or that you are remodelling the kitchen and thus stumbled upon the practitioner. Again, try to reflect on your 10 years stay at the existing home. 3. Some resources on the stove: http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Kitchen_Stove_%26_More Elainne H. wrote: Hi, more than 10 years ago i consulted a fengshui master and given the direction to construct my stove and sink in the kitchen. Recently I decided to consult another master in the hope to improve my home fengshui and was told by this master the kitchen stove and sink is constructed wrongly and I should dismantle and reposition it to improve my luck. As this task will be costly, I am cannot be certain whether to proceed or leave it as it's as both fengshui master has given me different indications. Please advise what I should do?
  21. 1. This is a typical placement of a ConVex mirror above the main entrance door. 2. The external bagua trigram surrounding the convex mirror is optional. This ba gua trigram is meant to "scare" away "evil spirits". 3. This apartment's main entrance door faces an open staircase. Not only is it facing an open staircase but also; the staircase is flowing downwards. Under symbolism in Feng Shui, it means that wealth is flowing out of the apartment main door and down the "stairs". Thus the expression: "You are down and out! at the same time!"
  22. 1. As the title suggests: Initial Opening of the door for the 1st time. Sally P. wrote: Do you mean after our 2nd Appointment with HDB where the 1st Owner has moved out & before we started our reno??? OR 2. Yes, once a person takes ownership of the home; usually a good date is chosen for this 1st time open door procedure. 3. Thus, if one go and VIEW a home once or several times prior to your so called 2nd appointment, then the home is stillwith the previous owner. There is no value doing this procedure. Sally P. wrote: 2ndly, we have just bought this house main door (looking out from inside the living room) is facing EAST, but we checked from your web on our most favourable direction is WEST. What should we do?? is there anyway to help? 4. This type of question is like: I have taken delivery of a Toyota car. And later, one realise that the person don't like the car. Can one bring back the car to Toyota and ask for a refund? Neither can one, wait for the earthquake to rattle the home and change the facing direction. What you had mentioned is `history'. 5. If you to apply DIY Feng Shui, then these are some of the common approaches.:- * Feng Shui Triage * Fix-the-Leak, First! * Situational Approach * The Concept of Maximizing Marks * The Concept of Feng Shui by Exception * The Customer Engineer Concept * The Three-Step-Approach * Trial & Error Vs Flying Star
  23. 1. Please note that Feng Shui does not depend soley on this interpretation. 2. Feng Shui is about: location, location & location. And other more important factors include: which flying star direction this home is facing, how suitable the home is to the breadwinner. 3. If you are applying Feng Shui, you have to apply all these facts and cannot just based on this single information alone. 4. You are just like asking a blind man to lead another blind man?
  24. 1. Frankly, there could be some other "leaks". But from the picture, one can distinctly see a lamp post slicing towards the main door of the home. There is a secondary poison arrow i.e. the 25 speed limit sign. 2. The most effective method is to plant a cluster of plants or plants that does not have a single tree trunk at the circular planter area. Planting a tree with a single tree trunk goes back to square one again.. this tree would become a poison arrow aimed towards the home.
  25. 1. Please note that such information should be looked at before purchasing a property. For example, when deciding which property to purchase out of a few homes. 2. Once after a person has purchased the property: "staring" at the information is counter productive. As this concept does not or cannot offer any other cure! 3. Thus the best thing to do is to try to avoid, reduce or neutralise "leaks" in a home. 4. The report is helpful for PRE-purchase of a home AND not for POST-purchase or have lived-in already.
