  1. There are TWO Common sense methods used, here. ONE 1. Based on History: 1.1. If one has already stayed in the "renovated" home for more than 2 years; one can then draw out the flying star chart of say Period 6. And another chart of Period 8. And see which seems to be more accurate - given that one already know it's past and "present" history. 1.2. If it a case of just renovated; then have to wait OR see below:. TWO 2. Drawing out both period charts and place them side-by-side:- 2. In a real world, in this example, I have a recent client who had bought a "new" apartment under Period 8. The whole block was completed in 2000. Since he bought it "brand new" in 2008 - bare walls and bare cement floors; he did the renovation under Period 8. SEE ATTACHMENTS. 3. In this real life situation, instead of guessing which period his home is; 3.1. I have to make more effort in plotting in both Period 7 and Period 8 stars. AND the "trick" or common sense is to try to compare both SETs of stars. 3.2 To see if certain sectors share the same stars or if they differ; any remedies would affect the other set of stars. 3.3.If one has a good solid grounding in the Five Elements concept; oftenwould try to apply a "cure" suchthat itHELPS but does not create issues for the other set of flying star numbers. 4. Frankly, many geomancers would not even think of such a method. 4.1. My advice is: to put on one's COMMON SENSE thinking cap and use logicin such a situation. 5. Does the above makes sense?
  2. In my opinion:- 1. essential oil falls under Fire. As essential oils although may be mistaken for water, but it is truly not water as such oils float on water. And in the link below, you will notice that it could be considered as under "OIL". 2. Selling = sales = Fire Please check out the following under the column "FIRE":-: http://www.geomancy.net/talknotes/talknotes.htm
  3. There are the spiritual faith and the "commercial one"; Will you choose one or both? Simple, have a company signage that says just that: "FAITH". Have faith when you buy from us....
  4. From a Feng Shui point of view: always try to avoid buying a unit in a block where the overhead tracks or roads directly curve towards you. (the unit). For example, if the attached tracks are on the same level as the 4th storey flat; and it curves towards it; let's hope there are other objects such as large trees to buffer this curve.
  5. Can you offer me all three assurances: Cheap, Good and also fast! Good service Cheap won't be Fast Good service Fast won't be Cheap Fast service Cheap wont be Good
  6. Some Chinese belief that spirits can reside (or built) a home inside a reasonable large tree trunk. Five oranges were offered I suppose to the Five Spirits. A common theme in many "praying rituals" is to respect the Five spirits: North, South, East, West and Central. What is unique here is the entire tree trunk is wrapped in the "worship" YELLOW coloured cloth. Kind of remind me of the winter "clothing" that some trees in cold countries are wrapped in... during my wintervisits to countries such as Korea...
  7. Some geomancers have the mistaken notion that all books must be "locked-up" or kept in closed cabinets. As they had read that books are like "knifes". In my opinion, this is far from the truth! Many of us throughout ages have a desk and all our frequently used books are at hand and easily retrieved and placed back on shelves. This is especially true for open book-shelves close to where our hand can easily retrieve and place back. We can then place all our current semester's books within easy reach. This is opposed to having to open book-self doors to retrieve them.
  8. Again, just be extra careful when booking a unit close to a structure. In this case, the roof-line...
  9. Ecopolitan Executive Condo (EC) : For this development, poison arrows from roof-line(s) should not be an issue as the stacks are well spaced out and the garden features are not directly in line with most of the stacks. For those who intend to look to purchase stacks (in any development) at level 01 or level 02, should always consider threats (if any) from the "blade" of roof-lines within the estate: especially those from the club-house roof which can even be as high as 3 storeys level.
  10. Ecopolitan EC is an executive condominium developed by property developer Qing Jian Realty.(Punggol Way) Pte Ltd. Ecopolitan EC comprises a total of 8 blocks, each 16 storeys high and a two level basement car park. All stacks either face Flying Star N3 or S3. This development is more suited to "East group" persons since there are no stacks that face "West". One good thing about this development is that all the 8 blocks are "Point blocks" (other than block 126 and 128 that partially "stick" together). Such "Point block" are advantages with good all round qi flow. And some blocks especially 124 and 130 and even 132 have wide open spaces. An additional plus point. However, most South facing apartments (high floors) will be affected by the slant of the afternoon sun at their frontage areas. And some stacks have afternoon sun that soaks into the master bedroom walls especially #11, #13, #16, #17, #18 & #21. Stacks: 21, 24, 25, 28 and 29 face the busy Tampines Expressway and will be affected by road noise.
  11. The underground car-park at Raffles Place. Today, many HDB car parks share this same idea of the 1960's. The upper level is a well landscaped garden. Change Alley a popular go to shopping alley in the 1960’s.
  12. VVIP treatment makes one feel like a King. The rest? Dogs and cats!
  13. Let me introduce you to the wonderful boss of the Feng Shui Emporium. He is like a Casino Banker. And once you step into his premises, you are HIS!
  14. Delay in informing residents near-by of a leak... This comes under Common Sense (Feng Shui)
  15. The Feng Shui Emporium will want you to believe that everything they sell is "IN THE NAME" of Feng Shui.
  16. Yes, is it possible to quickly learn Feng Shui? If so, what is the best method to do so? Should I purchase quick Feng Shui guides or books?
  17. Yes, we are the five spirits: North, South, East, West & Central
  18. Daughter of Feng Shui emporium says " I CAN"T THINK OF ANY REASON TO BUY PRODUCTS in the name of Fung SWAY!"
  19. A popular saying goes: "If you can't take Mohammed to the mountain, take the mountain to Mohammed " Thus, If someonecan't understand what you want them to understand by seeing something you want them to see, bring what you want them to see to them.
  20. These are some considerations: 1. There are some geomancers, out-there that strictly follow the "text" to the "T". 1.1. In the past, and recorded advice (Compass School)was to stand inside the main entrance looking outwards to take the compass readings. 1.2. Of course, in the past, majority of the homes were purely landed property. And many Chinese homes have a centre court-yard and almost all homes (other than communal homes) have entrances that face the frontage. 1.3. Some die-hard geomancers, till-today; still rely on those 1,000 year old "advice" and even treat them as "god send" or "Feng Shui bible". 1.4. They (these geomancers) will even quote such written documentation of proof. Thus if you have a chanced encounter with one of them; YES, most likely they will swear that your frontage perhaps faces North. 2. Just like Darwin. Feng Shui has also evolved, somewhat. 3. Countries such as Hong Kong started the trend of taking the frontage of buildings and subsequent stacks as the facing direction. 3.1. This is because of the small space of such countries : Hong Kong and Singapore. Where Singapore, has more than 90% living in high rise 3.2. Thus because of this, and the fact that for many high rise buildings; the main door is often considered an "after-thought". The "facing" of the main door of apartments depends on how the architect connects the various units / passageway together. 4. For landed properties such as yours, it is still quite common to find the main door as what you had described: 4.1. If from a Feng Shui point of view; it could be that there could be a lone lamp post that could have sliced through a main door. Thusperhaps for this reason, themain door is tilted or towards a sideetc.. so that there is no way any poison arrow(s) including things like a sharp pointed roof - neighbours homecan be aimed towards "your" main door. 4.2. Other reasons could be that thegarage isalso at the side of the home and a side main door is a practical reason. 4.3. There are otherreasons for the main door at the side or in cold countries, the concept of "double" doors etc.. 5. Even if one is a die-hard fan of traditional Compass School writing;as you had mentioned, the main door faces North. And under the Eight House concept; North or East suits an East group person. More like, "it feels good isn't it? More of a psychological "feel nice"rite?
  21. Technically, based on your simple sketch; this home is sitting West facing East. What is your purpose of determining the frontage. If it is for the purpose of applying the Flying star; then; most likely as it is for now it should be facing East. Unless, you have a wonderful lake or nice area "behind" this house. If so, perhaps: for the purpose of calculating the Flying stars: the facing direction, here could instead be west.
  22. Recently, have received several requests for some of the forum postings on geomancy.net's facebook. As such, will be posting especially light and entertaining caricatures to our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/geomancy.net In the past, frankly, I had always struggled with what and what not to be posted to facebook. What I understand and figure out is that unlike a proper forum or Wikipedia; facebook is only good at photos and caricatures created at a specific time. And I feel that it is not that efficient for storing forum threads / postings and the least efficient in retrieving such information for future reference. Thus, you will continue to see this forum nor my wiki.geomancy.net out-of-date. Far from it. For now, even blogs are not as efficient as a forum for this purpose, also. Thank you!
  23. Ideally, try not to place Bed-head at the corner of a bedroom.
  24. Please note that this is only a general advice forum and not a full-blown "Someone do it for you - service". You wrote: 1. The facing is not ideal, A1. Location, location, location or rather as I had mentioned in the past : " The forms or Shapes and Forms is the Principal consideration. Thus, even if a facing is not ideal; but if SAY a home has wonderful Shapes and Forms; the "Forms prevail over the STARS" is the clue. A1.1. Therefore one liners " The facing is not ideal" does not stop, there. One has to look further than just this simple statement. You wrote: 2. the kitchen is in the NW corner, see attached floor plan. I plan to renovate the kitchen, but not immidiately. what shall I do during the interim period? once I move the stove and micorwave over to another corner, will that solve the problem? A2. One of the considerations would be : It is "Nice" if the stove's position be suitable to (usually the female of the house unless the male is the home-maker etc...). There are other considerations. You wrote:3. most likely, we will use garage door more offten than main door for every day use. from gararge, we will walk into a mud room (W/D room), and then kitchen. Doors are fcing each other. does that create a problem? please refer to the floor plan A3. What you wrote is like many who have been adviced to something like "tilt" the main door etc. And in Feng Shui; this is considered not permanent. Ultimately the facing direction would still be the same especially if we are trying to apply the Flying Star Feng Shui. A3.1. Thus, it is more like "taking sugar coated pills - whenever one uses says the garage door instead of the main door. This has more to do with psychology - or feel good factor, that's all. You wrote: Q4. there is a big, healthy tree right in front of the house, block a lot of eat light. Not sure what you are trying to imply, here. But if the tree is healthy, that is a plus point. As to whether it is big or block sunlight depends also. If the house face west, then the tree can add some welcoming shade.
  25. Appreciate if you can do a SEARCH (at the TOP left frame of this forum). "As similar type of layout(s) had been discussed previously + the methodology are also similar."
